The opening of Kartarpura corridor has emerged out as a major progress in Indo-Pak relationship, leading to a really positive relationship on both sides of the border.
Kartarpura corridor aims to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims of both the countries to visit the holy shrine of Dera Baba Nanak Sahib in India and the shrine of Kartarpura Sahib in Pakistan.
The Indian Government announced on Wednesday that it has decided to construct Kartarpura Corridor up to the International borders with Pakistan.
This decision was wholeheartedly welcomed by the government of Pakistan. The Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, announced that Pakistan has decided to open Kartarpura Corridor on account of Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.
Pakistan has already conveyed to India it's decision to open Kartarpura Corridor for Baba Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary. PM Imran Khan will do break ground at Kartarpura facilities on 28th November. We welcome the Sikh community to Pakistan for this auspicious occasion.
Navjot Singh Sidhu, who came all the way from India to attend Imran Khan’s oath-taking ceremony as the Prime Minister of Pakistan, has yet again grabbed the spotlight with his response to the opening of the Kartarpura Corridor.
He took to Twitter to thank PM Imran Khan for this positive step towards unity between the two nations.
Thank you @ImranKhanPTI Bhai, we welcome the positive step, it means the world to us. You’re a gem! This is a great service to mankind. Kudos to you! ਨਾਨਕ ਨਾਮ ਚੜਦੀ ਕਲਾ ਤੇਰੇ ਭਾਣੇ ਸਰਬਤ ਦਾ ਭਲਾ| pic.twitter.com/xehaXTfzTm
It is to be noted that during the oath-taking ceremony of PM Imran Khan in August, Sidhu had a talk with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa about the opening of a route to Gurdwara Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur Guru Nanak’s 550th birth anniversary.
I thank the Govt. of India from the core of my heart and take a bow! I request the Hon’ble PM of Pakistan @ImranKhanPTI Sahib to take reciprocal steps for opening the Kartarpur Sahib corridor and spread Baba Nanak’s message of universal brotherhood and peace across the Globe.
Having played an essential role in conveying the message from both sides of the border, Navjot Singh Sidhu sounds overwhelmed by this recent development between India and Pakistan.
I humbly request the Government of India to dispense their duty towards 12 Crore ‘Nanak Naam Laivas’ world over, by writing to the Pakistan Government. I hope the draft for the letter is ready as promised by Hon’ble EAM Sushma Ji.
Update: Prime Minister Imran Khan has spoken on the unfortunate event. PM Khan has stated that no attempts and efforts to sabotage CPEC and hurt Pak-China friendship will be successful.
All attempts to sabotage CPEC will be defeated. China & Pakistan share a friendship higher than the Himalayas & deeper than the deepest seas. Reports of gunfire and explosions near the Chinese Consulate Karachi came pouring on Friday Morning.
The smoke of a black cloud can still be seen near the building where suspected terrorists tried to enter the premises but failed to do so because of heavy security.
A heavy contingent of police and rangers have arrived at the scene following the incident in Karachi’s Clifton area.
As of now, two police officers have been killed and bullet shots can still be heard, while one security guard deployed at the Chinese Consulate was injured and in being said to be has been taken to the hospital in critical condition.
The initial report states that multiple armed men launched what appears to be a terror attack at around 9:30 am. The attackers hurled hand grenades and then opened firing targetting the security guards of the consulate.

A female police officer, SSP Suhai Talpur, led the operation against the terrorists.
The houses surrounding the Chinese Consulate in Karachi have also been sealed by the authorities. It is being considered that the terrorists might have tried to escape to the residential houses nearby for cover. However, there is no official report of it.
Geo news has reported that at least one of the terrorists is dead, weapons and a suicide jacket were found from near his body.

The Italian Fashion House, Dolce & Gabbana, had to call-off a long-planned fashion show in Shanghai, China on Wednesday after a social-media outrage.
Their racially offensive posts on social media accounts became the major setback for the company in the world’s most important luxury market.
The Italian fashion house quickly issued a statement apologising and saying the accounts as well as that of its namesake designer Stefano Gabbana had been hacked, but it did little to calm a brewing social media uproar in China.
Some of China’s biggest celebrities had been billed to attend the “Great Show” event, but on Wednesday one after another announced their withdrawal.
“Our mother country is more important than anything, we appreciate the vigour and beauty of our cultural heritage,” said the management of Wang Junkai, a hugely popular singer in boyband TFBoys, as they announced his withdrawal.
“I love my mother country,” actress Li Bingbing told her 42 million fans on Weibo.
The controversy arose after Dolce & Gabbana posted short clips on Instagram earlier this week showing a woman eating pizza and spaghetti with chopsticks that some deemed culturally insensitive.
It erupted into a firestorm after screenshots circulated of an Instagram user’s chat with the famously volatile Stefano Gabbana in which he used five smiling poop emojis to talk about China and launched insults at the country and its people.
Even China’s Communist Youth League jumped into the fray.
“Foreign companies operating in China should respect China and respect Chinese people,” the youth league tweeted to Dolce & Gabbana on Weibo.
Actor Talu Wang also tweeted on Weibo: “Respect is more important than anything.”
As the backlash escalated, Dolce & Gabbana took to Instagram and Weibo saying its account and that of designer Stefano Gabbana had been hacked and that its legal office was “urgently investigating” the matter.
“We are very sorry for any distress caused by these unauthorised posts. We have nothing but respect for China and the people of China,” the company said on Instagram.
Dolce & Gabbana said separately on its verified Weibo account that the show “has been rescheduled”, though it did not specify the reason nor did it give a new date for the event.
“We apologise for the inconvenience,” it said.
The controversy marks the latest backpedalling by a foreign company for offending Chinese consumers with advertising or information that insults China or clashes with Beijing’s official position.
Earlier this year, German automaker Mercedes-Benz apologised for “hurting the feelings” of people in China after its Instagram account quoted Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama, seen as a separatist by Beijing.
Chief Justice Pakistan (CJP) Supreme Court Mian Saqib Nisar left for United Kingdom on a 9 day visit to raise funds for the construction of Diamer-Basha Dam.
The fund raising event will be co-hosted by Waqar Zaka, the only Pakistani celebrity on-board the Fundraising trip.
In an interview to Waqar Zaka on-board the flight to U.K, CJP stated:
The construction of the Dam has become extremely important for Pakistan. There is no objection on it that in the upcoming years Pakistan will be facing extreme water shortage. With growing population, our main resource that is water is SHRINKING. And if we didn’t manage this crisis which requires the effort of the whole nation, then it will become really hard for survival.

The ceremonies will be held in 3 cities ; London, Birmingham and Manchester. The events in London include galas at the Gray Inn Hall on Nov 21, the Royal Nawaab restaurant on Nov 22 hosted by Centre for Policy Dimensions; and the Intercontinental London on Nov 25.
The Chief Justice will also visit the British Parliament where he will address Muslim MPs and is also expected to attend a ceremony at the UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Nov 25.
His agenda also includes meetings with legal adviser Dr Tariq Mehmood and boxer Amir Khan.
According to the apex court’s website, 7.8 Billion rupees have been collected for the construction of dam funds. The donation drive in U.K is bound to boost the funds for the construction of the reservoirs by a whopping volume.
Bad news for all the diehard fans of Shah Rukh Khan because they might not get to see his upcoming movie ‘Zero’ in the local cinemas as it is facing troubles getting released in Pakistan.
According to Dhanak entertainment, the production house behind ‘Zero’, Red Chillies Entertainment, has asked for as much as $500,000 for the film’s release in Pakistani cinemas and our local distributors are considering whether to buy the film or not.
Pakistani distributors are unwilling to take a risk with ‘Zero’ with such a huge amount, given that some big names like Salman Khan’s Race 3 and Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan were not able to generate a big sum at the Box Office in Pakistan recently.
Although RCE is persistent for the payment, our local distributors are trying to negotiate with them on a percentage basis that can be termed as the middle ground for both the parties. Given the recent rupee depreciation and the fact that an SRK film doesn’t seem financially viable at the moment, Pakistani distributors might not buy the film at all if RCE doesn’t change its stance.
Shah Rukh Khan has got a huge fandom in Pakistan and it is definitely not the best news for his diehard fans who have been impatiently waiting for the release of Zero since its trailer got out.
Considering the fact that SRK’s last few movies including Dilwale, Fan and When Harry Met Sejal did not do well in Pakistan nor in India, our local film distributors seem reluctant to take their chances with his upcoming movie.
Starring the King Khan of Bollywood alongside Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma in the lead, ‘Zero’ is slated for a worldwide release on 21st December 2018.
It is ironic how time and advertising have one thing in common- change, it’s a constant in both!

Pakistan is expected to become the 4th largest economy in the world by 2030, supported by a growing population, fast-growing business and increasing internet penetration.
This has enabled Pakistan to potentially grab the top spot amongst the digital economies of the world, IT experts have predict.
Google says Pakistan is quickly becoming a ‘Digital-First Country’ which means there are new heights for brands to reach and engage customers that may have previously been ignored.
Badar Khursheed, Vice-President of growth at Fishery.com & Vice Chairman of P@SHA commented:
“It shows that Google has realized the marketing potential of the country and they are now encouraging businesses to focus on Pakistan as a potential market,”
Google states that there are 5 reasons why expanding your digital campaigns in Pakistan is a very beneficial idea.
1. Rapidly-Growing Population
Pakistan’s growing population is the first reason that makes the country attractive for foreign and local investors, as it is soon expected to become the 5th largest country in the world. Almost 40% of the population lives in urban areas and have internet access.
2. Entrepreneurs contributing big
Lars Anthonisen, Google’s Head for Market for South Asia, states that Pakistan will be the 4th biggest economy in the world by 2030. The entrepreneurship is also on a rise in the country and will play a significant role in the economy as well.
More than 59 million citizens of Pakistan have access to smartphones currently, and the number is expected to rise in the coming years. The phone prices in the country have also become cheaper and affordable. Due to low internet data prices, the usage of mobile apps is also increasing and a massive chunk of YouTube users also hail from Pakistan.
4. Internet penetration
Despite Pakistan’s overall penetration standing at 22% (44.6 million users/202 million), the digital consumption in the country is going skywards. Anthonisen says the YouTube consumption in the country has grown over 60% in the last 3 years.
Google believes that Chinese investment in a CPEC project to lay an 820 KM fiber-optic cable will enable more people to connect to the internet. Anthonisen advises digital companies and entrepreneurs ”to leave a mark” on Pakistan’s growing online market and ”grab endless investment opportunities”
If everything goes according to plan, Pakistan is set for bigger things in the future.
International cricket is returning to Pakistan! Top cricket board officials are highly optimistic that they can convince Cricket Australia (CA) to send their team to Pakistan for a classic Pakistan vs Australia ODI series 2019.
Pakistan has been a ‘No-Go’ for international cricket teams since 2009’s incident, and Australia last visited the country almost 2 decades ago.
However, thanks to the Pakistan Super League and Pakistan Army, cricket is coming back home slowly and gradually!
Although teams such as Sri Lanka, Zimbabwe and West Indies have stepped foot on Pakistani soil in the past 5 years, an Australian visit could pave the path for regular international cricket in the country.
In order to plan such as visit, PCB is willing to sacrifice the dates of their 5-match ODI series against Australia in March.
The idea is to have a Pakistan vs Australia ODI series 2019 in April so that both teams are well prepared for the World Cup which will be held in England in May.
CA is also keen on shifting the series to April and sources say that PCB is willing to accept the proposal only if Australia play one or two ODI games in Pakistan. Currently, the series is expected to take place in Dubai/Abu Dhabi.
The shift to April might see the return of David Warner & Steve Smith who were banned for their roles in the ball-tampering scandal last March against South Africa.
Earlier discussions between both cricket boards, PCB & TA, had taken place against a backdrop of CA concern over interfering with the IPL window but this now appears to have changed.
One of the other factors in the discussion is PCB’s eagerness for more teams to break the nearly decade-long drought of international cricket in Pakistan.
There is hope from PCB’s side that Australia will consider playing at least a small part of their 5-match ODI series in Pakistan, before the remainder of the series is completed in the UAE.
Ehsan Mani, PCB Chairman, made his feelings clear during Australia’s recent Test series against Pakistan
Obviously they rely on the [Australian] High Commission’s advice, but a lot of it is a matter of perception,I am yet to meet people who, once they’ve been to Pakistan, have any concerns about going there. On the sidelines, we’ve certainly raised this with them, that they should consider this.”
If you are a cricket fan, then this is probably the best news you will hear all day as international cricket maybe headed to Pakistan soon with a Bang.
Will a Pakistan vs Australis ODI series 2019 take place on Pakistani soil?

Someone in London has just shown their love and support for Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Imran Khan (IK)!
A video has gone viral showing 3 iPhones with the PM as their wallpaper! Although at this point it can not be said who gets the credits for this move, it shows that IK has supporters all over the world.
One thing is for sure that this certainly did happen as one of the iPhone’s screen reads ‘Open this app to see the pricing and compare models’.
Earlier, Pakistanis took their love and support for the PM on Twitter after he clapped-back at United States President Donald Trump. PM Khan had hit back at Trump’s comments about Islamabad not adequately supporting the Washington-led “war on terror”.
Khan started the series of tweets by saying:
record needs to be put straight on Mr Trump’s tirade against Pakistan
Record needs to be put straight on Mr Trump’s tirade against Pakistan: 1. No Pakistani was involved in 9/11 but Pak decided to participate in US War on Terror. 2. Pakistan suffered 75,000 casualties in this war & over $123 bn was lost to economy. US “aid” was a miniscule $20 bn.
“1. No Pakistani was involved in 9/11 but Pak[istan] decided to participate in US War on Terror. 2. Pakistan suffered 75,000 casualties in this war and over $123bn was lost to the economy. US ‘aid’ was a minuscule $20bn”
3. Our tribal areas were devastated & millions of ppl uprooted from their homes. The war drastically impacted lives of ordinary Pakistanis. 4. Pak continues to provide free lines of ground & air communications(GLOCs/ALOCs).Can Mr Trump name another ally that gave such sacrifices?
Instead of making Pakistan a scapegoat for their failures, the US should do a serious assessment of why, despite 140000 NATO troops plus 250,000 Afghan troops & reportedly $1 trillion spent on war in Afghanistan, the Taliban today are stronger than before.
Trump’s false assertions add insult to the injury Pak has suffered in US WoT in terms of lives lost & destabilised & economic costs. He needs to be informed abt historical facts. Pak has suffered enough fighting US’s war. Now we will do what is best for our people & our interests
Everyone is always on the lookout for new iPhone ticks every now and then. However, the latest iPhone trick discovery is breaking the internet!
Thanks to US food blogger Krissy Brierre-Davis who came across it. While pressing on to the spacebar whilst she was in the middle of typing a message, Davis discovered that if you click and hold on to the space bar, you can move the cursor instead of trying to drag the cursor itself with your thumb.
There is nothing more entertaining than a snarky social media war between influential brands. This weekend, the Careem vs Pepsi Pakistan’s Twitter feud surely provided us with the ultimate Sunday entertainment.
But guess who won the battle ? The people of Pakistan! Before we tell you how, here’s what you need to know about the intense social media-war.
Here’s What Went Down Between Pepsi & Careem
We all know how savvy Careem is with its marketing strategies. When a loyal fan asked for a promo code, the ride-hailing brand decided to get a bit cheeky!
We have to admit Careem made us all laugh with its offer of a free Pepsi instead of a promo code.
Whoops. Sorry, we don’t have promos at the moment. Phone nahi to muft ki Pepsi chalay gi? 😀 https://t.co/WJXQjIkm7j
The two decided to give Pakistanis an ultimate win. Pepsi announced that as a truce, it will give out 1 million Careem promos, and the Careem also called it truce by saying they will double the promos.
Pakistanis can now avail 2 million promos from Pepsi and Careem!
