In a society that is driven by labels, breaking the stereotypes takes courage. Nonetheless, it was shown by the one and only Nisha Rao, Pakistan’s first transgender to get admission in MPhil. She is the first person in Pakistan to reach this level while belonging to a marginalized community.

Nisha Rao previously made headlines for becoming the first transgender lawyer in Pakistan. She got her LLB degree from Sindh Muslim Government Law College in 2020. However, this time she is set to make her mark in the community once again as she becomes the first transgender person to get admission to an LLM program at the University of Karachi.

While she takes another step to normalize equal opportunities for the transgender community, she is keen on shattering the stereotypes.

Nisha Rao Shows Gratitude

In a recently conducted interview with Nisha, she showed immense joy over her admission to the university.

“I had been distraught for two months. After appearing in the exam in June this year, I didn’t hear anything back. However, I was informed just four days ago that I had gotten admission,” she said.

“I have paid a fee of Rs104,000 for one semester for LLM, which shows how impossible an idea it is for transgender persons — who mostly beg on the streets — to be able to pay for higher education,” she added.

“Paying for education is the biggest challenge for the transgender community,” She said. “They end up in the turmoil of whether to get an education or not because it is so expensive.”

“It takes Rs400,000 to complete the LLM degree. I also have bought a scooter for Rs 170,000 so that I can travel easily. There are no scholarships available for the transgender community,” she said.

An Upfront Personality With Ambitions

On a question about how she would feel if she got bullied or harassed, she replied, “It all depends on someone’s personality.”

“If a transgender person speaks well, puts on less make-up, walks properly, and stays confident, people won’t bother them,” adding that she has never faced such unpleasant situations.

Karachi University Vice-Chancellor (KU-VC)

KU-VC fully supports the decision and says that efforts must be made to ensure the transgender community is given equal opportunities.

He said that the decision to admit Nisha Rao was taken at a meeting of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research (BASR).

The Dean also mentioned that Nisha had scored fewer marks on the test. However, her dedication and interest made the decision easier for the board.

One such country that is being promoted is Quaid’s Pakistan. Through Pakistan Pavilion, the organizers aim to establish a timeline of the region dating back as far as 7,000 years up to today’s fast-paced life.

The Pavilion is said to be the first largest to be ever constructed outside of the country. With the name of “Pakistan: The Hidden Treasure”, the goal is to actually present the country as a hidden treasure.

To explore the entire pavilion, you will need 30 minutes. This time travel will inform the visitors of all the sectors that have potential; be it tourism, commercial, or investment, the pavilion will feature it all.

One such feature is “The Bazaar”. Here you can buy anything that will serve as a souvenir from Pakistan. You can also find “The Dhaba” there where you will have the facility to taste most Pakistani food and drinks. Aside from workshops and seminars, you will also find the enjoyable side of Pakistan as popular celebrities from the fields of sports, film, tv, and music, roam the pavilion.

The latest news that came out is that the two have now been divorced. Zoraiz Malik’s divorce papers with Alyzeh Gabol spread like wildfire on social media. Apparently, the divorce papers were posted on social media by none other than Aasia Aamer, mother of Zoraiz Malik.

A Pakistani page called “Pakistani phupo” confirmed the news on social media. The page is alleging that this has been confirmed by the family itself. In response, Alyzeh Gabol is coming to Pakistan immediately and has also slit her wrist in response.

He has recently appealed to the government but specifically PM Imran Khan, for help. He said that he has always answered PM’s call in any matter he has been requested. So he has full faith in Imran Khan answering his call as well.

The government responds

After the clip became a trending topic on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, the Pakistani government finally took notice. Spokesperson & Special Assistant to Prime Minister of Pakistan on Political Communication took to Twitter their response by retweeting Waseem Badami’s tweet with a comment. Dr. Shahbaz Gill said that on the directive of the PM, the Prime Minister’s office is in contact with him. He also added that the office is in contact with Waseem Badami to get more information on the matter. As soon as the officials receive further updates, the help will be dispatched.

SAPM concluded the tweet by saying that they will keep the people informed on the matter.

In light of that, Sony finally hosted the PlayStation showcase.

It contained a lot of announcements, including games that have been in line for quite a while now. Apart from that, the 40-minute event held true to all the hype that had gathered. The PlayStation showcase was absent both in E3 as well as Gamescom. So, here we have a solo showcase for the company, at long last! Let us see what announcements were made.

PlayStation Making Bounds

Firstly, let us tell you that the trailer for the God Of War game was released. It is going to be titled Ragnarok and there is much to see. According to the Viking lore, Ragnarok was the event that signalled the apocalypse, with Thor fighting the world serpent. Let us see what this game holds in its plotline. Apart from that, the Sequel to Marvel’s Spiderman was also announced. The first game did quite well so it made sense they were going to move towards a second one.

We haven’t had many good ones since the PlayStation 2 so maybe it’s time to wake up this beast of a hero. Fans are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to play as Logan! Additionally, by March 2022, Gran Turismo 7 is going to be released. This is one of the games that are specific to the PlayStation and has been around for quite a while. Good to see there is development in the racing genre as well.

Finally, we got to learn that Uncharted is going to be released on both PC and PS5. It had even been stated earlier that all the Uncharted games were coming to PC by the end of this year. Now it has been confirmed! This creates a lot of hype for gamers because this game used to be exclusive. Who knows, maybe we finally also get to see ‘The Last Of Us’ on PC. That would be a piece of news!

The GTA 5 Enhanced edition has also been delayed so we are not sure when to expect it. It is high time for Rockstar to start working on the sequel to GTA 5 now. After all, fans want to see what the next generation of gaming looks like. Apart from this, we got a trailer for the remake of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic. For long-time fans of the game and franchise, this is mighty good news!

There are quite a few things that deserve to be waited for. After all, a lot of games are appearing on the consoles and PC as the months progress. W hope to see robust releases of all of them, with spectacular gameplay and amazing stories.

It seems like Lahore Court is pretty active these days, especially with everything feminists would potentially have sympathies for. Just yesterday, the court issued arrest warrant against Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for shooting a music video in Wazir Mosque some time back. They had not played music, it was just some moves, poses that we probably do for our daily Instagram posts. Today, it was Iffat Omar and Ali Gul Pir’s turns for having stood against Ali Zafar.

In 2018, Meesha Shafi shocked the entire Pakistani industry by accusing Ali Zafar for sexual harassment. While complicated court proceedings continued to take place, celebrities also took sides. The ones supporting Ali Zafar and the ones supporting Meesha Shafi, both went down a dirty path in defaming the other person. And imagine, Ali Gul Pir and Iffat Omar joining in this race.

Arrest warrant out for both celebrities

In the court proceedings on Tuesday, Iffat Omar requested one time exemption of personal appearance at the court. Meanwhile, Ali Gul Pir neither showed up nor sent a representative. As a result, on Wednesday, the court issued bailable arrest warrant to Iffat Omar and a non-bailable arrest warrant to Ali Gul Pir.

Last week, the final season of the famous Spanish Netflix show, “The Money Heist” was released. Needless to say, the fans went on a roller coaster ride. However, after a week of its release, fans and the audience is pleading to boycott the show over their pro-Israeli remarks.

Money Heist Cast Appears On Israel’s Channel 12

According to Arab media, the cast of Money Heist spoke on television about the latest season and the recent advances. During the interview, a question was asked about the cast’s visit to Israel. In response to the question Darko Peric, who plays the role of ‘Helsinki,’ said;

“It was a marvelous experience, and I hope to come back again. I know that there are a lot of fans here, and the people here are great. When people travel to Israel, they always talk about strict security and police measures, but even the police wanted to take pictures with me when I arrived here. It was great!”

Hovik Keuchkerian, who plays ‘Bogota,’ mentioned that he only heard “wonderful things” about the country. He then praised Fauda, an Israeli drama about an undercover unit whose commandos carry out missions in the occupied Palestinian territories while disguised as Arabs.

Jaime Lorente, aka ‘Denver’ went to Israel in 2019 and also praised the country;

“It’s crazy to see the reactions all over the world and in Israel. It’s emotional for me to share these moments with you. I’m happy I was given the privilege to come here and to get to know your warm people, your culture, and your country, and I hope to come back here soon,” he said.

“When they talked to me about going to Israel, I agreed right away. I had heard a lot about this amazing country and how special it is and about the Tel Aviv nightlife and the great food. I’d love recommendations about where to eat hummus and falafel.”

Fans Call For A Boycott

As soon as the interview went viral, fans and Palestinians started pleading to boycott the show over their remarks. Palestinian activists launched a viral hashtag called #BoycottLaCasaDePapel, using the show’s Spanish name.

PISA 2021: 5 Nominations That Do Not Make Sense

PISA (Pakistan International Screen Awards) is about to get its second edition on November 5th, 2021. The awards will take place in Dubai and will be acknowledging the efforts of individuals in 24 categories. In these categories, you will find artists from the TV, Music, Fashion, and Digital Content industries. Film is not a part of PISA 2021 due to the pandemic and the consequent lockdown on cinemas.

But for the rest of the categories, allegedly, stalwarts of the industries were employed to be the jury; because there are some nominations that do not make sense at all.

Except for the jury awards and the PISA Special awards, all other winners will be decided through online voting.

1. Dananeer Mobeen

Remember the pawry girl? Why would you not? If someone has cashed the one-time hype well, it is Dananeer. Her video went viral and more than her original content, this Indian guy’s touch made it more engaging. However, Dananeer cashed it well and is now seen in numerous ads but getting an award for ‘Most Entertaining Instagram Celebrity’ is just nonsensical.

Shahmeer has been nominated for the YouTuber of the Year award. Considering his awful prank videos are his content and that he was part of a very controversial scandal, it is just awkward seeing him in the nominations.

In the drama, you get to see an immature girl who doesn’t want to study and only aims to get married. Moreover, it also has her husband’s stepfather hitting on her.

The drama was stupid and got a lot of backlash from the viewers as well.

Expo 2020 Dubai has launched a special passport in honor of the event. The event starts its six-month course within 20 days, from 1st October 2021 to 31st March 2022. The Dubai residents and international visitors will get a special passport as a souvenir. At the same time, exploring the 200-plus participating pavilions at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The Popular Souvenir

The passport was first introduced at the 1967 World Expo in Montreal. Since then, it has become one of the most popular Expo souvenirs for visitors. It gives the attendees a chance to keep track of all the different international pavilions they visit. While they collect pavilion stamps as a souvenir.

The yellow-colored 50-page customizable passport comes with unique features, including an impressive number. It also offers an area to include a passport-sized photo, personal details, and hidden watermarked images on each of its pages, ensuring that no two documents are alike.

The design offers pictures of the three Thematic Pavilions (Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion, Alif – The Mobility Pavilion and Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion), as well as Al Wasl Plaza – the crown jewel of the Expo site – plus other Dubai landmarks, such as the city’s iconic skyline, and other elements relating to the UAE.

UAE’s Golden Jubilee Year

On account of UAE’s Golden Jubilee year, the passport pays homage to the nation’s Founding Father, His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It includes a particular page stamped in gold foil, including a photograph from 1971.

The expo will cater to more than 200 participants, including 191 countries and businesses, multilateral organizations, and educational institutions.

“The Expo 2020 version (of the passport) is inspired by the UAE’s heritage, linking the past with the present. Shaped like an official passport, the 50-page booklet contains designs and pictures of the three Thematic Pavilions (Mission Possible – The Opportunity Pavilion, Alif – The Mobility Pavilion, and Terra – The Sustainability Pavilion), as well as Al Wasl Plaza – the crown jewel of the Expo site. It also offers a site of other Dubai landmarks, such as the city’s iconic skyline and other elements relating to the UAE,” the Expo team said on Thursday.

Expo 2020 Dubai is right around the corner. Starting from October 1st, 2021 the event will go on for six months. A number of amazing exhibitions will be featured. One such exhibition is the world’s largest Quran. Fun fact; a Pakistani artist has made it.

The reputable event is awaited by many across the globe so it is for them, today’s announcement. The expo will start selling its tickets from Friday and UAE residents or visitors can buy them from all Zoom stores. This automatically means that the tickets will be available at the Dubai Metro stations’ convenience stores as well as Enoc and Eppco service stations.

What’s even more interesting is that if you want to quickly explore the event, you can even do it for free. For instance, people traveling with Emirates and Flydubai will automatically be eligible for a one-day free pass.

Expo 2020 Dubai Ticket Prices

If you are not an Emirates or FlyDubai traveler or are a resident of UAE, then you will not get the free pass. Instead, you will have to buy the tickets. The price structure announced has three levels.

While we suggest availing the one-day free pass through the airline, if you really have to buy, then the one-day pass will cost you AED 95. At the current exchange rate, the ticket will cost a Pakistani, PKR 4,345.

If you assume, however, that you will not be able to cover the entire show, then you can buy a multi-day ticket worth AED 195. PKR 8,918 equivalent ticket will get you 30 consecutive days’ access.

The third tier is a season pass. According to this facility, you will get unlimited entries for the six-month event. It will cost you AED 495 which is PKR 22,640).

The expo organizers are also giving away free tickets or rather free entries to a number of people. Therefore, if you are a senior citizen (60-years-old and above), a student enrolled anywhere, people of determination, or are a child (6 to 17 years old) you can enter for free. While they can enter for free, their companions will also get tickets for half the price.

Toyota Is Investing $100 Million In Pakistan For Local Production Of Hybrid EVs

The Toyota Motor Corporation is making a speedy entry into the electric vehicle industry. It recently announced that it is investing approximately $100 million to develop electric vehicle (EV) batteries. This is going to take eight years to develop. Starting in 2021 for a sustainable future by 2029— is this smart or a miscalculation?

Why Make Special EV Batteries

Toyota said that it aims to reduce the cost of EV batteries. The corporation is trying to reduce the cost by around 30% which is why the investment is so huge. The cost savings is going to be achieved by experimenting with the compartments of a conventional EV battery. Toyota will be reworking the structure of the cells in order to create affordable EV batteries.

Moreover, Toyota’s latest cars are also being made with the same aim in mind. Toyota’s upcoming all-electric SUV Chief Technology Officer Masahiko Maeda announced that the new cars have improved power consumption. That is an indicator of the amount of electricity the car uses per kilometre which will be also reduced by 30% starting with the Toyota bZ4X.

Benefits of EV Batteries

The EV batteries, in which Toyota has invested $100 million, have many benefits. For instance, they can not only store but also supply more power. Moreover, they take less time to charge faster. Additionally, they are less susceptible to catching fire making the cars even safer. These EV’s are also considered a better substitute for lithium-ion batteries which are used commonly in electric vehicles. However, their short service has not allowed them to become the mainstream.

Investing $100 Million in Pakistan

Toyota also recently announced an over $100 million investment in our own country for the local production of hybrid electric vehicles.

The company has announced that the investment will be used for the localization of car-making. The plant expansion and production preparation for the first Hybrid Electric Vehicle to be manufactured in Pakistan. It will be done at the Indus Motor Company Limited (IMC) plant located at Port Qasim, Karachi.

The Premier also applauded Toyota’s investment. He said, “Toyota/Japan has remained the most committed partner for Pakistan even in the most testing times. We value our relationship and Toyota’s trust in Pakistan’s economy and welcome this new investment for Environment-Friendly Hybrid Electric Vehicles.”

Single National Curriculum Attracts Criticism For Gender Discrimination

With the news of Pakistan getting a single national curriculum, the citizens were already divided. There were some who endorsed it because such a step would lessen the disparity emerging through the level of education amongst people. But there were others who found that a single curriculum might hurt the sentiments of the religious minorities in the country. Amongst criticism, the curriculum was introduced in Punjab.

It turns out that it was not just the religious minorities who needed their voice in the curriculum. It has been some time since the curriculum’s introduction, but all of a sudden there was a flurry of tweets on Twitter regarding the books.

People were utterly horrified at not just what was written but also the visuals of the books. They are not completely wrong. It seems that the curriculum developers are manipulating the subconscious; teaching the children what is the right way to be.

A Pakistani man also took to Twitter an image allegedly from the curriculum. According to this tweet, the curriculum was telling how a housewife should spend her time. Interestingly, the curriculum mentions all the household chores that househelp can do. But mentioning it in the book could potentially teach the future youth that there is a set way of life that a housewife needs to have. Deviation from that would tell the youth that a woman is not a good housewife. Deviation could involve something as a basic as a woman assigning a ‘me-time’ for herself.
