Pakistani dramas have shown a trajectory of showing concepts that our generation might find toxic. The most toxic and the most frequent concept that they air is love triangles or if not that, then it would have parents blackmailing their daughter into marriage. Of course, there is no barrier if the drama creators choose to show both concepts in one drama.

But there have been rare Pakistani dramas of today that diverge away from such petty concepts and venture into trying new stuff. Hence, you will encounter a handful of dramas that try out-of-the-box genres and new thought-provoking concepts. However, they do not get the fame that they deserve. Today, we will give them the time to shine.

Below is the list of Pakistani dramas that were vastly underrated:

1. Chalawa

Chalawa is a fantasy drama showing the interaction of human and jinn realms. It features the story of a girl whose heritage is to befriend and even exorcise ghosts. Noor Zafar plays the role really well, although it did not get as much recognition as the supernatural drama her sister starred in, got.

2. Parizaad

Parizaad is a story about a dark-skinned boy who has grown up with the idea that his skin color defines beauty. Can you imagine who is playing this role? It is Ahmed Ali Akbar. Of course, he is a talented actor who is greatly underrated but the makeup to show him as dark-colored seems forced.

Most of our actors are skin color conscious. Even those who started as dark-colored, you will find them becoming fair-colored. But to suit the character, maybe Faizan Khwaja would have been better. That said, Ahmed Ali Akbar is more talented.

3. Neeli Zinda Hai

Neeli Zinda Hai is a horror drama showing how a ghost traumatizes a whole family but especially the woman who senses her presence. The drama dispensed many more concepts like that of the fake exorcists and fraudster household. However, even with a staunch cast, the drama was not able to come close to the fame of dramas such as Mere Paas Tum Ho.

4. Dhikawa

Dikhawa is a show that highlights how people suffer from the idea of showing off. The people who are not satisfied with their lives, lie to show off and in order to maintain the lies, they become the worst version of themselves.

Ehsaas Education Stipends Program Successfully Launched By The PM

Did you know over 20 million children in Pakistan are out of school? That is primarily what Imran Khan is all set to change with the Ehsaas Education stipends. These stipends might just start bringing the tabdeeli Imran Khan has been talking about but can this work? Let’s find out.

The Ehsaas Education Stipend

In order to bring these children to school, their families have to be given an incentive. There is a trend in Pakistan which is to have more and more children because they are helping hands. Thus, many children are birthed simply so they work— if they go to study, who will fill-in? That is where the Ehsaas Program steps in.

The Ehsaas Education Stipend programme will provide financial assistance to deserving households. This stipend will be for the education of their children at multiple levels including primary, secondary, and higher levels. This program has also been initiated in 160 districts so far. Here’s the best part— it’s structured to provide a higher stipend to girls than boys.

Why Is It Focused On Girls?

Of the 20 million children out of school, most are girls. Girls are not sent to schools not only because their parents don’t deem it safe but because their education is not believed in. Imran Khan would like to change that and the Ehsaas Education Stipend is his strategy.

He believes the stipend will encourage parents to send their children, particularly girls, to schools. Khan believes that an educated woman can contribute more positively to society and is proud of Ehsaas to give more to girls. He believes parents do want to educate their daughters but the distance to schools or unavailability of female teachers is a factor.

How Will This Be Regulated?

Imran Khan also added that by using the latest IT systems, stipends will be disbursed transparently. Fake entries can be weeded out for ghost schools and a fake number of children.

Bonus Rewards

In the Ehsaas Programme, there are also bonus rewards. There is a one-time Ehsaas graduation bonus of Rs3,000 to encourage girls in the completion of primary education. Moreover, another bonus will be given on a 70% attendance.

The Special Assistant to the PM on Social Welfare, Dr Sania Nishtar, also shared the stipends. Under the Ehsaas Education Stipends programme, primary school-going boys would get a quarterly stipend of Rs1,500 and girls Rs2,000. In secondary school, boys would receive Rs2,500 and girls Rs3,000. Lastly, at the higher secondary level, boys will get Rs3,500 and girls Rs4,000.

What’s Not Matching?

Many people started noticing her feet. Their observation was that her feet are not matching the colour of her hands, neck, and face! In short, they were trolling her for putting makeup everywhere except her feet. Many started jumping on the bandwagon and pointing the colour difference out.

Colour-Shaming in Pakistan

This sadly has become the trend in our society. Though Nida Yasir is confident with herself and did not take this to heart, many do! So what if people’s feet are not the same colour? We can’t pressurise people to the extent that they now put makeup on their feet too.

The Famous Salt Bae Sued For Not Paying His Employees On Time

It appears the good ol’ days of fame and success have come to a tragic end for Salt Bae who has been sued by his workers. His employees have filed many complaints against him which they will now pursue against him in court. How much more is there to people behind their social media? Salt Bae is anything but what he looked like

Salt Bae Sued

The Turkish chef and restauranteur Salt Bae’s real name is Nusret Gökçe. He has been sued for not paying his employees on time. Moreover, he has also been accused of calling his employees ‘managers’ so he can get away with not paying them over time. This has been the case at all his shops and warehouses.

The five employees who have filed the suit were recruited from Turkey. They worked at Nusr-Et’s US locations and filed the case in Manhattan’s federal court just two days ago.

The Developing Story

These said five employees said they worked 70-plus hours in a week in New York, Miami and Dallas. However, Nusr-Et did not compensate them fairly. They were also specially asked to come to work at these US locations by him when they were employed in Turkey.

The employees have also alleged that the official job descriptions drafted for their visa application were false. Nusr-Et labelled them as “employees with managerial authority” so he can “avoid paying them overtime wages.” Instead, these employees performed menial tasks. They took out the trash, washed the dishes, cleaned the toilets, ran errands and purchased products.

Workers Will Not Settle For Anything

The workers have alleged that regardless of the time they worked, their salary would remain the same. All five of them received a weekly salary of $1,125. However, workers in non-managerial positions are entitled to overtime pay. This pay should be 1.5 times their hourly wage. The normal weekly shift should be of 4 hours a week.

The workers have hit Salt Bae where it hurts— his repute. The grillers have sued him for unpaid overtime and other damages and this isn’t even the worst they have done. Their case has been filed by Louis Pechman. He is the same labor lawyer who won a $230,000 settlement for the servers in 2019.

If you’re asking for guesses, we think Salt Bae will agree upon a settlement to protect his reputation. Most of his branches simply work because he’s made a name for himself. Nowadays, no one supports exploitative owners. Let’s see how this pans out!

Xiaomi Expanding

According to sources, the company has just completed the registration. This puts the brand on the road to having an electric vehicle of its own. They have even hired a team of over 300 people who are going to be working on the car. Earlier this year, it had come to light that Xiaomi had purchased automotive technology startup Deepmotion. They had done this in order to further their research and development in the auto industry.

The more information they have, the better they can develop an electric vehicle. The brand has even pledged to invest about $10 billion over the next 10 years in this project. For the CEO, Lei Jun, this is being considered as the last entrepreneurial project. Xiaomi also said that they have conducted over 2000 interview surveys and 10 industry peers and partners.

This news tells us that Xiaomi is rising faster than many of the smartphone brands here. It is not just assisting in the manufacture of cars, it is even working on the development of the product. Emirates Appoints Mohammed Alnahari Alhashmi As Vice President For Pakistan

Emirates has announced the appointment of Mohammad Alnahari Alhashmi as Vice President for Pakistan, effective 1st September. Alhashmi will be responsible for leading the airline’s operations and strengthening Emirates’ presence in the market. Mohammed Sarhan, who was previously Vice President of Emirates for Pakistan, will now take on a new role as Vice President of Emirates for India.

Mohammed Alnahari Alhashmi, Emirates Vice President for Pakistan, said: “I’m very honoured and thrilled to be leading Emirates’ operations in Pakistan. I look forward to working closely with our talented local team and to continue driving the airline’s growth in the region.”

In his new role, Alhashmi will manage the airline’s commercial operations and strategic initiatives across the region. Mohammed has held several roles throughout his 18 year career with Emirates, including management posts in Kuwait, Indonesia, Syria, the UAE, and most recently he held the role as Vice President for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The new appointment comes as the airline announces several commercial leadership movements across West Asia, Africa, the GCC, and Central Asia. All of the movements include Emirati talent into key leadership positions, either being promoted from within the organisation or through portfolio rotations, underpinning the airline’s commitment to career development and progression of its UAE Nationals.

4. Fatima Surayya Bajia: Hilal e Imtiaz

To be eligible for the award, you need to have made meritorious contributions to the national interests of Pakistan, for world peace, cultural, or other public endeavors.

5. Other Awards

Bajia has been locally as well as globally recognized by numerous entities. Firstly, Pakistan recognized her by giving her the Pride of Performance Award in 1996. Japan awarded her its highest civil award for her works. She was invited to The Big Show on CNBC, alongside Haseena Moin. This tells how known she was in the West as well.

The most recent evidence of her recognition came in 2018 when Google released a doodle on her birthday.

Her story serves as an inspiration to many, and hopefully, the drama writers of today would not ignore it because it is high time, our industry gets the revolution it needs.

The iPhone may have many great features but its Messages app seriously needed improvements. Whenever somebody sent an image in the app and you had to go back to it, it was like going to visit the Bermuda Triangle. However, all that is changing now with the latest iOS updates.

There will be a new Shared with You integration of the Messages app with the Photos app. plus the addition of a real save button for photos available right in the conversation view. The new Messages app make it much simpler to find pictures from your group chats and texts.

How To See Shared Media

The Messages app is basically now going to give you a new option to see the shared media. This new Shared With You feature is coming to many Apple apps such as Messages, Safari, Podcasts, Music, TV, and Photos. What does this mean you ask? It means that now the pictures or videos you send in an iMessage conversation will be available to you in the “For You” tab.

You can see all the media shared with details of who shared them and why. However, note that these are going to just preview. They won’t be saved in your camera roll. In order to save them, long-press on them and tap save.

What To Do If You Don’t Like It

However, if you’d like to remain in the Stone Age and don’t like the update, you can do something about it. If you don’t like the Shared With You feature just turn it off. Go to Settings and then to Messages. Find the Shared With You tab and disable the “Automatic Sharing” altogether. The other way to do that is to just disable sharing with the “Photos” app.

How To Save Photos from Shared With You

Instead of sharing images one by one, you can also save them in a stack. Open the Messages app and go to the conversation you want to take photos from. With iOS 15, you will be able to see a new interface where your photos and videos will be. To save multiple photos together, simply tap the Save button next to them. The save button looks like a downward arrow button. Then say hello to all of them in your library!

This new feature will definitely be a hit amongst all iPhone lovers. How excited are you?

It’s been a long time since Ayesha Sana left the showbiz industry. However, the host turned actress managed to stay in the social media limelight for different reasons. Arrest Warrant Issued For Ayesha

The Lahore court has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Ayesha Sana. In a case heard by Judge Syed Ali Abbas on Tuesday, the warrant was issued after the actress failed to appear in court.

Her ex-husband, Yousuf Baig filed the case after Ayesha was accused of defaming his family on the internet. According to Yousuf, Ayesha uploaded inappropriate pictures of his wife and his daughter over the internet. She also added unethical videos of the family on the website, which, according to her, “brought disgrace” to the family. In response to the case filed, the court ordered the defendant to appear in the court. However, as she failed to do so non-bailable arrest warrant has been issued against her.

The host has also been previously served with an arrest warrant back in 2020 when she was charged with fraud. The police carried out raids in her Lahore and Islamabad residence to arrest her. Ali Moin, a real estate agent, filed the case against the actress who failed to return Rs. 2million borrowed. According to Ali, Ayesha gave her the check, which bounced. He added that the actress was friendly with his family and provided her with money on multiple occasions. Later on, reports suggested that the 47-year-old has taken millions of rupees by defrauding the public.

Every day, we hear news related to the automotive industry. Brands have been progressing at a swift pace and everyone wants to be a part of the change. In the 90s, the Suzuki Khyber dominated the market with its small size and big engine. Similarly, Suzuki Mehran, Cultus, and Alto have all had their time in the sun. Suzuki Turning A Profit

Due to the new auto policy and the price reduction, people want to buy them more than ever. The writer of this article knows of people who have gotten the new cultus for as low as Rs.14 lac. We are talking about a brand new car here, not in used quality. Due to the success of the brand, Suzuki has earned more than Rs.1.2 Billion in profit. This was just in the first half of 2021.

That shows the company is certainly doing well this year. That amount of profit shows just how popular their cars are. According to a report by Suzuki, the company earned Rs.1,197 Million in profit in the first half. If that is how the first half was, we anticipate seeing how the company does in the second one as well as in 2022. A lot of people have increasing faith in the company. They have not let anyone down before and they don’t intend to start now.

Everybody would like to call themselves a leader primarily because the term is so powerful. To lead something is to have the power to change the course of events, doesn’t that feel incredible? However, becoming a leader is no overnight task. Some personality traits, practices and virtues lead one to that point where they call themselves one. Here’s why you shouldn’t call yourself a leader:

1. You Can’t Handle Rejection

Being rejected is an essential part of becoming a leader. Everyone gets rejected. However, only true leaders make something out of rejection— they learn from it, take it in their stride and ensure that never happens again. So, if you get stringy and go back in your shell after being rejected, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader.

2. You Insult Co-workers

Being a leader is not about insulting your co-workers or employees in front of everyone. That gives many people false confidence in being powerful however, a true leader never does that. A true leader rebukes in private so as to build a mentor-like relationship with their co-workers and employees.

3. You Make Irrational Decisions

Many people who have a tendency to make irrational decisions also call themselves a leader. However, they shouldn’t be! Being a leader is all about taking risks but risks are calculated to a great extent always. If you always go on your whim, you do not possess an integral quality of being a leader.

4. You Are Not A Good Communicator

Communication should be the strongest suit of a leader. If you are able to communicate well, you can ensure each person under your leadership performs well. If you do not respect the value of communication, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader.

5. You Don’t Believe In Accountability

A leader is always stringent on accountability because they know that if people evade it, law and order will not remain. If someone under your leadership does something wrong and you let them off the hook, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader. Believing in accountability and implementing it is a leader’s duty.

6. You Are Not Inspiring

Last, but not least, inspiration. A leader is brimming with inspiration at all times. Even if their journey wasn’t that inspiring, they always know how to keep their workers inspired and motivated. If you are dull and can never inspire your workers, it’s time to stop calling yourself a leader.

Akhuwat Founder Wins Asia’s “Nobel Prize” For Microfinancing Program

While there is bad, there is also good in this world. Hence, while we do get to hear troubling news like that of Noor Mukadam and the Minar-e-Pakistan incident, every other day Pakistanis surprise us with positive vibes too. Just today, we got to hear about a Pakistani artist showcasing the world’s largest Quran and the six months long Dubai Expo 2020. And now, we hear that Akhuwat Founder, Amjad Saqib has won an award which is the Asian equivalent of the Nobel Prize.

Amjad Saqib is a 64-year-old Pakistani who dedicated his life to developing a microfinance progra. By becoming Pakistan’s microfinance pioneer, he has become the winner of the Ramon Magsaysay award. The award was for launching a first of its kind, microfinance program that was beneficial for poor households.

Dr. Saqib, the philanthropist and author, started his venture by the name of Akhuwat, almost twenty years ago. The venture has now become Pakistan’s largest microfinance institution. The point of pride is that the poor Pakistanis who utilize the facility, almost always return the loan, as result, Akhuwat enjoys an almost 100 percent loan repayment rate.

The founder of Akhuwat had started with the idea that he wanted to inspire the belief that goodness can find ways of alleviating poverty.

Congratulatory messages

PM Imran Khan and various other important figured congratulated the man. He called the award, Asia’s highest honor. Appreciating the reason for the award, the PM said that steps like these need to be appreciated as Pakistan moves towards becoming a state based on Riasat e Madina.

Ramon Magsaysay Award is named after a Filipino president who was killed in a plane crash. The yearly awards were established in 1957 by the trustees of the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. The awardees come from different parts of Asia who show courageous service to the people and dispense pragmatic idealism within a society.

Amjad Saqib’s contribution sure comes as a breath of fresh air amidst the heavy environment that is enveloping the country.

The third season of ‘YOU’ is back, and we are low key terrified of what is about to unfold next.

Netflix dropped the much-awaited trailer for season three of YOU on Monday. The filming for the season was concluded at the start of 2021. However, the season is going to be released on OCT 15 on Netflix. The American psychological thriller is back, and this time, we will be able to see the low-key psychotic couple living their best life in the suburbs. However, the story doesn’t end here. With Love giving birth to a boy and them living as a happy family as Joe has his eyes set on his allegedly next victim who is, “his neighbor.”

‘YOU’ Season 3 Trailer

The new trailer features a cake being baked with a creepy voice-over from Joe. Nonetheless, he seems not so excited over the upcoming birth of his baby boy as he shows concerns regarding him.

“A boy is not what we expected, and I would be lying if I said the thought of mini-me was purely exciting and not without challenges. Let’s say, I hope you’ll do as I say, not as I do, but for you, I could change. I’ll be a man you look up to, a man you will be proud to call dad.”

“Who are you going to be, Henry?” The voice-over concluded as he cut the cake right in the middle of his name. With Joe, even the smallest of things can feel and look creepy, and we can’t help but wonder if this is a hint of what is about to come next?

Season 2 Recap

Season 2 started as Joe moved to Los Angeles and changed his name to Will. Soon after, he met Love Quinn, and from there, a whirlwind of emotions started. However, it didn’t take long for Quinn to show who she really is as she revealed her past to Joe.

One thing led to another, and they ended up killing a few people in between. Yet the showdown started when they came face to face as Love confronted him for not paying attention to how similar she was to him. As Joe was about to kill Love, she dropped the bomb on him, saying she was pregnant. Joe has a soft spot for children, and he then lets her go, and from there, they start a new chapter in their lives as they move to the suburbs.

However, the story doesn’t end here as the story will be continued, and the psychopathic tendencies of one of the most disturbing couples will be emerging on the screen in season 3. The modern-day Bonnie and Clyde will be back, and we can’t wait to see what is going to happen next.

The All Lime Skittles

Truth be told, Pakistan severely lacks in having any kind of sour – and we mean sour – candy. The situation is so intense that we have to purchase packs of red skittles to pick out the green ones from it! Those were the good old Green Lime skittles. If you loved the green ones before, you’re in for a treat.

Skittles launched this new flavour ‘Green Apple’ a while ago. First, they rolled it out as part of Skittles originals in which they replaced lime with this. Fans were severely unhappy and wanted their Lime ones back.

Dubai Expo 2020: Pakistani Artist To Showcase World’s Largest Quran

Mega-events like Dubai Expo 2020 have quite a reputation globally. Artists from all over the world want to be featured there. And if you get such a chance, not only is it ego-boosting for yourself but also for the country you are from. Something like that happened recently, which became an ego booster for Pakistan as well.

A Pakistani artist has taken it unto himself to bring fame to the country’s name by featuring something as Holy as the Quran in the Dubai Expo of 2020. Just a month from now, the event will showcase the largest Quran in the world. Moreover, it is the world’s largest Quran, but it is the first time that the Quran is being presented on a canvas with gold and aluminum-plated script.

Pakistani artist exhibiting the Quran

The Pakistani artist goes by the name Shahid Rassam. Shahid has won numerous international awards for this project that he started five years ago. According to this project, the Quran will be 8.5 feet tall and 6.5 feet wide. Moreover, there will only be 150 words on each page. In total, there are 550 pages of this Quran.

Comparing this project with the one featured in the Guinness World Records, the latter was 6.74 feet tall, 4.11 feet wide. The Quran in the Guinness contained 632 pages and weighed 552.74 kilograms.

Coming back to the project at hand, the artist, Shahid, has shown a willingness to show part of his project at Dubai Expo 2020 that happens over six months. He was developing the project with the help of his team in Karachi. One of Shahid’s team departed that they are being facilitated by a Pakistani businessman based in Dubai, Irfan Mustafa, for this showcasing.
