Haier, in collaboration with Punjab Vocational Training Council (PVTC), the Government of Pakistan will be providing technical training to students. These technical skills will not only impart technological expertise, but they will also create hope for a better tomorrow for thousands of families of skilled workforce across Pakistan.

The MOU signing ceremony was held at Haier Pakistan Head office where Haier Pakistan the Mr. Muhammad Akbar Director Customer Service, Mr. Shahid Alvi Director Human Resources and Mr. Hamayoun Bashir Director Marketing and from PVTC Major (R) Ghazanfar Abbas Senior Manager Staff & Teachers Training Institute (STTI) and Mr. Amjad Ali MD Punjab Vocational Training Council graced the event with their presence.

In the first phase of the program, students will be provided with technical training to build a skillset. The skills gained will then be tested and evaluated. The best performing students will be offered internships at Haier, where they will truly get an opportunity to showcase their learning in the real-world industrial environment. Haier will also be evaluating the progress of these students and the best performers will be offered permanent jobs at Haier.

Together with PVTC, Haier hopes to create a better and more empowered Pakistani workforce that can meet the technological challenges and bring positive change to their future.

But then, learning that women might not be as comfortable getting help from policemen, women began joining the forces. Recently, we began seeing women-only police stations as well. Now, Islamabad Police is also making an initiative so that women can feel safer and empowered.

Islamabad Police – Self Defense Courses

Islamabad Police is starting self-defense courses focused on women. These courses will start in October and the modules they will comprise are Physical training, Armed training, and Assault courses. The month-long course will be from October 4th to November 4th and cost participants PKR 30,000. Of course, this leads one to wonder that if I belong to a community that can set aside such a huge amount for just one, well kudos to me. But what about those who can’t. What about girls traveling in buses? What about girls who are sole earners in their houses?

Dolphin Force Saves Woman From Being Burnt Alive By Husband

Lahore got its own Dolphin Force not too long ago after the Ababeel Squad. It seems that their introduction was the right move because of their latest heroic actions. They saved a woman in Lahore yesterday.

Dolphin Force intervened in time before the woman’s husband could burn her alive. The spokesperson of the Force said that the husband was going to spew petrol on the woman. It turns out it was his attempt at a joint suicide because he was also covered in petrol. They had made their way after getting the report on the helpline by a neighbour. The force raided the house in time and arrested the suspect.

Obtaining details

The Force questioned about the details to which the woman replied that the torture was a constant. The husband would abuse drugs and then torture her. This attempt of murder and suicide was prevented because of timely action by neighbors. The police force has registered a case against the husband. The woman’s brother complained to make the case under section 302, a murder charge.

Burning Alive or and Acid Throwing

Our society based on patriarchy often translates into misogyny. Men in our acquaintances’ list take extreme measures to ‘correct’ the behaviors of women. Remember Ayesha from Minar-e-Pakistan? She was groped because she did not fit well according to the clothing men expected from women. In other instances, women get burnt with acid on rejecting proposals or get killed in the name of honor. Not too long ago, Karachi witnessed an incident of a woman being burnt alive.

To prevent these crimes, Punjab Police has taken numerous steps. They have introduced a Women Safety App alongside Dolphin Force, Ababeel Squad, and the anti-women harassment and violence cell.

These Amazon mini department stores could come with high-tech dressing rooms and Amazon’s own private-label clothing brands. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, the idea is to revolutionise clothes shopping. The normal irritating factors of trying clothes etc. is going to be challenged by these high-tech dressing rooms.

One of the tech features will be that customers would be able to use a smartphone app to scan QR codes of the clothes they want to try. Then, the associates would be alerted and would gather the items to place them in the fitting rooms. Amazon also has plans to, later on, make this fully automated. Robots will bring you your clothes!

Amazon’s High Tech Shopping Experience

It is also being reported that inside these fitting rooms, you can ask for more clothes using a touchscreen. The screen would also recommend you more clothing based on what you like. Amazon is known for providing a high-tech shopping experience. Previously, it had AR technology that shows you how your hair would look with different hair dyes. There could also be a feature that lets you try clothes virtually!

What Will Amazon Stores Have?

These mini department stores will reportedly sell Amazon’s own private label brands and clothes from third parties also. In addition to the Amazon Essentials line, its online stores also give access to the most exclusive designers. Think Oscar de la Renta, Altuzarra and La Perla, among many others.

You might be wondering where these reports also came from. The reports of Amazon department stores were triggered last month as Amazon bought multiple sites. These sites are called mini department stores because they are a third of the size of regular stores.
