Shell To Install 50,000 Charging Points For Electric Cars

The era of electric cars has begun. We can safely say that combustion engines are not the only ones on the market now. With time, a lot of the infrastructure can be altered to be in favour of electric cars. Speaking of electric vehicles, Shell has decided to install about 50,000 charging points.

While this does seem like a huge number, it is not to be done over the course of weeks or months. Instead, it is a plan set forth by Shell for Britain. It has long been stated that Britain intends to get rid of combustion engine cars completely. Now, they have made it an aim to do so by 2030. Yes, 9 years from now, you will not see petrol or diesel running cars in the UK. So, Shell is one of the major contenders now in the race to change the infrastructure.

Shell Charging Points

These charging points allow for EVs to be charged on the go. The more one has, the easier it is for them to move about here and there. Ubitricity is a company that was founded in 2008 in Germany. It was acquired by Shell and is responsible for vehicle charging units across Europe. They already have 3600 charging units in Britain, ranging from a lamp post used as one to a bollard.

Currently, the UK’s Government Office of Zero-Emission Vehicles provides 75% of the installation cost of these charging units. The company has agreed to pay the rest of the charges, so there may be a faster change of infrastructure. The country is certainly working hard to make sure emissions are at an all-time low. We hope they succeed in this and continue moving up.

Keeping The Earth Clean

This initiative is certainly an impressive one and deserves all kinds of praise. It doesn’t just have to be Britain that adheres to the workings of a clean atmosphere. Every country can play a part in this, in one way or another. You don’t have to make heavy promises but you can always start the change on a smaller scale. If many people do it, it can create change in the bigger picture.

Let us hope we get to see more and more countries shifting towards an electrical infrastructure.

Money Heist season 5

A Spanish show, La Casa Da Papel, became famous as Money Heist ever since Netflix swooped in to salvage the show. Exactly the way numerous brands used Game of Thrones in their advertising to attract consumers, brands got interested in Money Heist as well. With its final season’s first part just days away, let’s look at all the brands that cashed in on the show’s hype.

1. Pepsi

Pepsi is joining the promotions and that too, officially. They have signed a deal with Netflix in which it has been decided that Pepsi will aid promotions through virtual fan fests and Pepsi-Money Heist beverage cans.

The Diesel collection was to have fourteen pieces. You will find it all in shades of red, white, and black. They released T-shirts, jackets, hoodies, and caps. They were to have prints of the characters’ names and masks. Prices for the products ranged from 35 pounds to 205 pounds.

3. Pull and Bear

The brand, Pull and Bear, used the hype by giving a 10% discount to its users. The way they gathered the Money Heist fan’s attention was that they started a show-inspired game. By going to the brand’s website, the fans could play. And after winning, they could avail discount on their next purchase. Way to increase your consumer base!

4. Persol

Optics brand, Persol also took part in the promotions. They used the backdrop of iconic scenes from the show. Moreover, they used the designs of the Professor’s glasses. Would the die-hard fans be able to resist the Resistance?

5. El Professor Burger

While some brands are just using the show as a short-term way of gaining consumers, there are brands that got a little extra. One cafe in Dubai, Khaleej Times reported, has completely renovated itself to become the first Money Heist themed cafe.

Haider Ali Wins Pakistan’s First Ever Gold Medal In Tokyo Paralympics

[Update: September 3rd, 2021]: Pakistan was proud to see two of its citizens make their way to the Tokyo Paralympics. It was the same level of pride as they saw ten of their athletes get to the Tokyo Olympics 2020. Unfortunately, no one could get a medal but the country was happy all the same. So, Anila Izzat and Haider Ali just participating, was cause for celebration. However, Haider Ali has gone one step ahead and actually followed through with his promise.

Haider Ali has bagged a gold medal and that too, his and Pakistan’s first-ever gold medal in Paralympics. He participated in the discus throw F37 and emerged victorious with Ukraine and Brazil winning silver and bronze respectively.

Interesting to note that the past two medals that Pakistan won in these games were also brought home by Haider Ali. In 2008, he won a silver. And in 2016, he got a bronze medal. The silver and bronze were in the long jump category.

[August 25, 2021]: Two Pakistanis are again on their way to make Pakistan proud on an international scale. The athletes have reached Japan for the 2020 Summer Paralympics and they might just come back with gold.

Tokyo Paralympics Is Special

The sporting event began as a small gathering in 1984. Now, it has evolved into one of the biggest and most inclusive competitions for athletes globally. Even athletes with disabilities have the chance to represent their home countries on the world stage.

The organizers keep inviting attention to the 15 per cent of the global population with impairments. They would like the world to know this is more than just a sports competition. It is a revolution.

One such participant from Pakistan is all-rounder para-athlete, Haider Ali. “I was always fond of sports, and I seriously, very seriously, started them in college,” said Haider. Haider Ali has cerebral palsy and will compete in discus throw at the Paralympics, as he reported from Tokyo. His journey and commitment are more than inspiring.

The 37-year-old athlete from Gujranwala has been representing Pakistan since 2006. This is also not his first rodeo! Ali has been to many international competitions for 15 years. He created history at the 2008 Summer Paralympics in Beijing, China. He was the first Pakistani to bring home a Paralympic Games medal, a silver, in the F37/38 long jump.

The second athlete making us proud is Anila Izzat Baig. She is the first female athlete from Pakistan to partake in the Paralympics. Baig contracted polio at the age of 3 and has an impairment to her leg as a result of it. However, that restricts her aspirations in no way.

Anila Izzat is from Faisalabad and has been participating in sports since childhood. She was scouted in 2008 and already has a gold medal to her name! She won it in the 2009 Asian Youth Para Games in Tokyo for the discus throw.

Supporting The Stars

Anila Izzat Baig mentioned that the Pakistani government has helped her with funding. It is with their help and her parent’s hard work that she got to attend para-athletic competitions globally. Both Haider Ali and Anila Izzat Baig have high hopes for this year’s Tokyo games.

We are already so proud that these two para-athletes got to this stage. We have no doubt they’re going to make Pakistan proud, medal or no medal!

Additionally, the project has been registered with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and all other relevant government departments. When combined with its prime location in Gulberg-Lahore and easy instalment plans, these factors make the project a worthwhile investment for serious buyers.

While talking to the media during the event, Zameen’s Senior Director Sales Laeeque Chauhdry stated that Zameen.com was pleased to launch a new project in such an ideal location in Gulberg, Lahore — with a focus on providing the project’s residents with a good return on their investment and a peaceful place to live. 4 Underrated Pakistani Dramas Of 2021 That Got Overshadowed

neeli zinda hai pakisstani dramas

Pakistani dramas have shown a trajectory of showing concepts that our generation might find toxic. The most toxic and the most frequent concept that they air is love triangles or if not that, then it would have parents blackmailing their daughter into marriage. Of course, there is no barrier if the drama creators choose to show both concepts in one drama.

Read More: 5 Pakistani Dramas Of Imran Abbas Showing Love Triangles

But there have been rare Pakistani dramas of today that diverge away from such petty concepts and venture into trying new stuff. Hence, you will encounter a handful of dramas that try out-of-the-box genres and new thought-provoking concepts. However, they do not get the fame that they deserve. Today, we will give them the time to shine.

Below is the list of Pakistani dramas that were vastly underrated:

1. Chalawa

Chalawa is a fantasy drama showing the interaction of human and jinn realms. It features the story of a girl whose heritage is to befriend and even exorcise ghosts. Noor Zafar plays the role really well, although it did not get as much recognition as the supernatural drama her sister starred in, got.

2. Parizaad

Parizaad is a story about a dark-skinned boy who has grown up with the idea that his skin color defines beauty. Can you imagine who is playing this role? It is Ahmed Ali Akbar. Of course, he is a talented actor who is greatly underrated but the makeup to show him as dark-colored seems forced.

Most of our actors are skin color conscious. Even those who started as dark-colored, you will find them becoming fair-colored. But to suit the character, maybe Faizan Khwaja would have been better. That said, Ahmed Ali Akbar is more talented.

3. Neeli Zinda Hai

Neeli Zinda Hai is a horror drama showing how a ghost traumatizes a whole family but especially the woman who senses her presence. The drama dispensed many more concepts like that of the fake exorcists and fraudster household. However, even with a staunch cast, the drama was not able to come close to the fame of dramas such as Mere Paas Tum Ho.

4. Dhikawa

Dikhawa is a show that highlights how people suffer from the idea of showing off. The people who are not satisfied with their lives, lie to show off and in order to maintain the lies, they become the worst version of themselves.

Ehsaas Education Stipends Program Successfully Launched By The PM

ehsaas education stipends launched

Did you know over 20 million children in Pakistan are out of school? That is primarily what Imran Khan is all set to change with the Ehsaas Education stipends. These stipends might just start bringing the tabdeeli Imran Khan has been talking about but can this work? Let’s find out.

The Ehsaas Education Stipend

In order to bring these children to school, their families have to be given an incentive. There is a trend in Pakistan which is to have more and more children because they are helping hands. Thus, many children are birthed simply so they work— if they go to study, who will fill-in? That is where the Ehsaas Program steps in.

The Ehsaas Education Stipend programme will provide financial assistance to deserving households. This stipend will be for the education of their children at multiple levels including primary, secondary, and higher levels. This program has also been initiated in 160 districts so far. Here’s the best part— it’s structured to provide a higher stipend to girls than boys.

Read more: PM Imran Khan Announces Two New Schemes For Overseas Pakistanis

Why Is It Focused On Girls?

Of the 20 million children out of school, most are girls. Girls are not sent to schools not only because their parents don’t deem it safe but because their education is not believed in. Imran Khan would like to change that and the Ehsaas Education Stipend is his strategy.

He believes the stipend will encourage parents to send their children, particularly girls, to schools. Khan believes that an educated woman can contribute more positively to society and is proud of Ehsaas to give more to girls. He believes parents do want to educate their daughters but the distance to schools or unavailability of female teachers is a factor.

How Will This Be Regulated?

Imran Khan also added that by using the latest IT systems, stipends will be disbursed transparently. Fake entries can be weeded out for ghost schools and a fake number of children.

Bonus Rewards

In the Ehsaas Programme, there are also bonus rewards. There is a one-time Ehsaas graduation bonus of Rs3,000 to encourage girls in the completion of primary education. Moreover, another bonus will be given on a 70% attendance.

The Special Assistant to the PM on Social Welfare, Dr Sania Nishtar, also shared the stipends. Under the Ehsaas Education Stipends programme, primary school-going boys would get a quarterly stipend of Rs1,500 and girls Rs2,000. In secondary school, boys would receive Rs2,500 and girls Rs3,000. Lastly, at the higher secondary level, boys will get Rs3,500 and girls Rs4,000.

Nida Yasir Claps Back At Trolls For Commenting On Her ‘Feet’

Nida Yasir has taken over morning shows since her show started. The bubbly personality’s show is always making headlines for one reason or another. However, this time Nida Yasir is in the news for putting a troll back in their place. Find out what she said!

Nida Yasir’s Pictures

Nisa Yasir recently put up a number of photos on the gram to show her look for her show that day. She is first seen in a white ensemble after which there is an outfit change! We’re all about this life by the way… The outfit change brings us to an emerald green outfit. It’s safe to say her looks are always graceful and very charming.

A post shared by Nida Yasir (@itsnidayasir.official)

However, people were not looking at the clothes. They were looking at – as absurd as this sounds – her feet!

What’s Not Matching?

Many people started noticing her feet. Their observation was that her feet are not matching the colour of her hands, neck, and face! In short, they were trolling her for putting makeup everywhere except her feet. Many started jumping on the bandwagon and pointing the colour difference out.

Some also started making fun of her feet for simply being a darker shade. Here’s evidence of the kind of comments Nida Yasir started receiving:

Nida Yasir Clapped Back

But that’s the thing, if Nida Yasir can talk for days on the show, she can also talk back to trolls. She’s not one for being quiet usually in the face of nonsensical hate and this time was no different. Nida Yasir replied to one such comment saying that she can’t help it, they got tanned while vacationing! That was indeed a flex right there but who’s complaining?

However, that’s not all. She further asked the troll, “katwa du?” which has us rolling on the floor. So take a little bit of truth with some sarcasm and you have a Nida Yasir kind of response to a troll.

Colour-Shaming in Pakistan

This sadly has become the trend in our society. Though Nida Yasir is confident with herself and did not take this to heart, many do! So what if people’s feet are not the same colour? We can’t pressurise people to the extent that they now put makeup on their feet too.

This obsession with all-rounded fairness must end in our society before it impacts young girls.

The Famous Salt Bae Sued For Not Paying His Employees On Time

salt bae sued employees

It appears the good ol’ days of fame and success have come to a tragic end for Salt Bae who has been sued by his workers. His employees have filed many complaints against him which they will now pursue against him in court. How much more is there to people behind their social media? Salt Bae is anything but what he looked like

Salt Bae Sued

The Turkish chef and restauranteur Salt Bae’s real name is Nusret Gökçe. He has been sued for not paying his employees on time. Moreover, he has also been accused of calling his employees ‘managers’ so he can get away with not paying them over time. This has been the case at all his shops and warehouses.

salt bae sued employees

The five employees who have filed the suit were recruited from Turkey. They worked at Nusr-Et’s US locations and filed the case in Manhattan’s federal court just two days ago.

The Developing Story

These said five employees said they worked 70-plus hours in a week in New York, Miami and Dallas. However, Nusr-Et did not compensate them fairly. They were also specially asked to come to work at these US locations by him when they were employed in Turkey.

Read more: Nirvana Sued By Spencer Elden Over Explicit Imagery On Album Cover

The employees have also alleged that the official job descriptions drafted for their visa application were false. Nusr-Et labelled them as “employees with managerial authority” so he can “avoid paying them overtime wages.” Instead, these employees performed menial tasks. They took out the trash, washed the dishes, cleaned the toilets, ran errands and purchased products.

Workers Will Not Settle For Anything

The workers have alleged that regardless of the time they worked, their salary would remain the same. All five of them received a weekly salary of $1,125. However, workers in non-managerial positions are entitled to overtime pay. This pay should be 1.5 times their hourly wage. The normal weekly shift should be of 4 hours a week.

Read more: Facebook And YouTube Sued For Aiding Trademark Infringements

The workers have hit Salt Bae where it hurts— his repute. The grillers have sued him for unpaid overtime and other damages and this isn’t even the worst they have done. Their case has been filed by Louis Pechman. He is the same labor lawyer who won a $230,000 settlement for the servers in 2019.

If you’re asking for guesses, we think Salt Bae will agree upon a settlement to protect his reputation. Most of his branches simply work because he’s made a name for himself. Nowadays, no one supports exploitative owners. Let’s see how this pans out!

According to sources, the company has just completed the registration. This puts the brand on the road to having an electric vehicle of its own. They have even hired a team of over 300 people who are going to be working on the car. Earlier this year, it had come to light that Xiaomi had purchased automotive technology startup Deepmotion. They had done this in order to further their research and development in the auto industry.

The more information they have, the better they can develop an electric vehicle. The brand has even pledged to invest about $10 billion over the next 10 years in this project. For the CEO, Lei Jun, this is being considered as the last entrepreneurial project. Xiaomi also said that they have conducted over 2000 interview surveys and 10 industry peers and partners.

Fatima Surayya Bajia, a renowned writer, passed away at the age of 85 in February 2016. But the weight of her personality was such that even after her passing away, Pakistanis remember and reminisce the writer, paying tribute to the legend in their own way. Do You Call Yourself A Leader? 6 Reasons Why You Shouldn’t

Everybody would like to call themselves a leader primarily because the term is so powerful. To lead something is to have the power to change the course of events, doesn’t that feel incredible? However, becoming a leader is no overnight task. Some personality traits, practices and virtues lead one to that point where they call themselves one. Here’s why you shouldn’t call yourself a leader:

1. You Can’t Handle Rejection

Being rejected is an essential part of becoming a leader. Everyone gets rejected. However, only true leaders make something out of rejection— they learn from it, take it in their stride and ensure that never happens again. So, if you get stringy and go back in your shell after being rejected, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader.

2. You Insult Co-workers

Being a leader is not about insulting your co-workers or employees in front of everyone. That gives many people false confidence in being powerful however, a true leader never does that. A true leader rebukes in private so as to build a mentor-like relationship with their co-workers and employees.

3. You Make Irrational Decisions

Many people who have a tendency to make irrational decisions also call themselves a leader. However, they shouldn’t be! Being a leader is all about taking risks but risks are calculated to a great extent always. If you always go on your whim, you do not possess an integral quality of being a leader.

4. You Are Not A Good Communicator

Communication should be the strongest suit of a leader. If you are able to communicate well, you can ensure each person under your leadership performs well. If you do not respect the value of communication, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader.

5. You Don’t Believe In Accountability

A leader is always stringent on accountability because they know that if people evade it, law and order will not remain. If someone under your leadership does something wrong and you let them off the hook, you shouldn’t call yourself a leader. Believing in accountability and implementing it is a leader’s duty.

6. You Are Not Inspiring

Last, but not least, inspiration. A leader is brimming with inspiration at all times. Even if their journey wasn’t that inspiring, they always know how to keep their workers inspired and motivated. If you are dull and can never inspire your workers, it’s time to stop calling yourself a leader.
