Lahore Smog Takes Over City & Memes Take Over Twitter

Pakistan is a wholesome country when it comes to weather. On the northern side, you will get all the snow but near the coastal areas, the weather will be incredible round the year. Then there is Lahore, getting extremely hot in the summers and extremely cold minus the snow in the winters. Recently, Lahore smog has robbed people of all their winter plans though.

The deteriorating weather 

Lahore has proven to be quite unlucky recently given the air condition. According to many pieces of research, the air should not even be considered breathable. There was talk that it was so because of India burning its crop near the borders but some fact-checkers thwarted that rumor as well saying it wasn’t due to crop burning rather due to the quality of fuel being used in the country especially in Lahore.

Whomever or whatever became the reason, the facts cannot be changed. At this point, the air is dangerous especially for children and older citizens. And the smog has reached a level that international flights are forced to return to their origin because they cannot land at Allama Iqbal International Airport.

But what will Pakistanis do when the situation gets really bad? Make memes, of course! And that they did. The subject of trolling this time was no Abhinandan or India claiming that there was a civil war in Pakistan. The subject this time was the garden city, Lahore.

Since the visibility is affected, the jokes were mainly focused on that but comparing it to 240p is something only couch potatoes can relate to.

The POV references never get old either.

Getting out of the camera visibility, the members chose to delve into the famous lines now. One of these lines is as everyone knows or at least anyone who has interacted even once with a Lahori would attest to, Jinne Lahore nahi vikhya o jameiya ee nai (One who hasn’t seen Lahore has not seen anything). To that the meme says, well, we can’t literally see anything anymore anyway!

If you are from the subcontinent you will agree, the memes feel incomplete without Bollywood references, don’t they?

But never had I ever imagined Yashwardan Raichand’s dialogue from K3G, “Guess karo ham kahan hain,” (Guess where we are) would be used for Lahore.

Sanam Chauhdry, famously known for her work in Ghar Titli Ka Par, has taken a step back from her career and ‘turned towards Allah. ‘

The star took to social media to mark her birthday with a special announcement in August. She replaced the “Actress” in her Instagram bio with a “Muslim mother,” who’s “learning Islam,” and removed all photos of herself from her feed. Taking to her Instagram Stories, she announced that she has “turned towards Allah.”

She wrote, “Those following the religious path have such pure hearts. Everyone is congratulating and welcoming me to the right path with beautiful words. And everyone is ready to teach me from the Quran. So much motivation already! May Allah guide us all!”

Sanam Chauhdry’s Latest Video

Recently, Sanam went live on social media and revealed the reason for leaving showbiz in detail. She mentioned how she felt doing things for the creation rather than the creator and how it made her feel bad.

“I wanted to approach the Quran, and I talked to my teacher about it. He got me in touch with it. Once I reached the second chapter, I felt connected to myself. It felt like as Quran was talking to me.” She wrote.

“I started wondering about my work and whether my work is making Allah happy or not? So I got a reality check, and you can also check yourself. I connected with Allah. The saying that you take one step towards him and he will come running towards you. The same things happened to me. I just wanted to get in touch with Quran, but everything happened naturally.”

vivo To Launch A Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 ‘Look-Alike’

Samsung is a titan in the industry it resides in. It has products that can last for years to come, be it a smartphone or a smartwatch. No matter how many times you drop the phone it can still give you a result without compromising the screen. Of course, a hard drop can shatter any smartphone but Samsung phones are quite robust. Additionally, all of their products contain state-of-the-art embedded technology. Now, it seems that vivo has launched a new smartwatch as well.

From the features, it resembles the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Now the watch 4 is quite an impressive smartwatch that does not fail to impress the buyer. Can we say the same for the vivo watch? If they are following in the footsteps of the titan, then they have to make sure that they deliver their product well. If we put the vivo Watch 2 and Samsung Watch 4 side by side, there is little we can tell apart from afar. So, let us look at both of them up close.

Samsung And A Look-Alike

While it does seem that the vivo watch is going to have a bezel-less display, the close look contradicts it. In fact, it seems the watch 2 has more than one large bezel on it, making it less up to the mark than Samsung. Additionally, while the picture render states that the watch has an in-built microphone, we cannot see it. It is almost as if they have rendered the image and design with deliberate changes to hide the things. However, is that really the truth or is it just that the company has not been able to compete with Samsung?

It is not easy to replicate something that a flagship product is achieving. One would have to go above and beyond and conquer a whole mountain of development before it can be done. That said, did the company really try to outrank Samsung, or is it just a lookalike from afar? vivo has also stated that the watch 2 is going to have a GPS module, as well as a heart rate monitor. However, whether the watch actually contains that has yet to be seen.

Even if we look at just the 7-day battery life of the vivo watch 2, it might not be enough to attract quite a lot of customers. A smartwatch is an investment and you want there to be multiple features present. The new Huawei watch is expected to have a blood pressure monitor. Now that is something that is worth having a glance at. Merely replicating the look of a flagship smartwatch is not the only metric that goes into making a good product.

This Bride & Groom’s Tragic Grand Wedding Entrance Is Going Viral

What do people do to commemorate their wedding days? If you think you have seen it all, think again. A recent video is going viral on social media where the couple fell off a swing during their wedding. All in an attempt to make a grand wedding entrance on their ceremony.

In actuality, the incident occurred in Raipur, Chhattisgarh’s capital in India. The bride and groom are seen seated on a swing in an attempt to make a grand entrance in the viral video. The couple was going to enter on a swing shaped like a round ring when the swing’s rope snapped, and they both fell below the stage’s height of 12 feet. Meanwhile, the bride and groom, were fine with minor injuries.

The Incident 

The bride and groom’s family were very scared to see the accident at the same time. As soon as the swing rope broke, the wedding ceremony created a ruckus. The wedding was taking place at a hotel in Telibandha police station area of Raipur. An event company was given the responsibility of grand entry and wedding ceremony of the bride and groom. Fireworks were going on on stage on Saturday due to the wedding and people were dancing on the grand entry of the bride and groom.

The duo falling from a height caused panic and disturbance. Guests and family members run towards the stage to assist them. However, once the chaos settled, the ceremony resumes after half an hour.

“Cannabis is a cure for many diseases,” Says Supreme Court

Drug abuse has become rampant all over the world and not just in Pakistan. And yet, the legal proceedings to deal with all the drug abuse or drug dealing are almost similar. All drugs are treated with the same level of contempt. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah in fact said that the punishment of Cannabis and Heroin was exactly the same. This is why the recent indication by the Supreme Court of Pakistan becomes all the more important with regard to Cannabis.

Supreme Court on Cannabis 

Yesterday, in a hearing of a narcotic case, the Supreme Court judge indicated that they would be open to treating two drugs, Cannabis and Heroin differently in the legal setting. It was possible due to the past history of the drug and how it had been used for medicinal purposes for the longest time. Heroin was also used in a similar way long ago but the benefits of Heroin were way less and Cannabis had many uses in the medical field.

To officially consider Cannabis differently from Heroin and what spectrum should they be differently on, the Court has requested judicial assistants for written arguments.

How it comes about?

The court proceeding where the coin move happened was headed by Justice Ijaz Ul Ahsan. The court comprised of the seven-member larger bench. It was also discussed there that the Senate Committee was in the process of enforcing legislation for criminals held for drug charges. Before making any decisions, however, the Court has also requested to know all the developments of what the Senate is up to regarding the matter.

According to Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, cannabis was a cure for many diseases and strengthened human nerves. He also mentioned that the drug was used as medicine in various countries.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel further stated that the Pakistani government had formulated a policy for cannabis as well.

No specific word came forward out of the legal proceeding however on how differently will cannabis be treated and the case was adjourned until the end of January 2022. It will be by then, hopefully, that things will be clarified because while cannabis may be useful medically, its abuse should be treated harshly.

Huawei Leak On Watch

It seems that the upcoming smartwatch of Huawei, the Watch D is going to incorporate a nearly impossible feature. Yes, the rumor states that the watch is going to have a blood pressure monitor. Other brands have attempted to incorporate this but have been unsuccessful due to the hard requirement. They can give an estimated reading but they cannot map the blood pressure reading exactly. However, Huawei claims, according to this leak, that the watch can monitor it properly.

APS Peshawar Attack: Remembering Our Fallen Heroes

The world has seen quite many developments and good news; it has seen dire news too. This year and the last was laced with the tragedies inflicted by Coronavirus, amidst other disasters. No one would forget the beheading of Noor Mukadam that happened in the mid of 2021, just like we continue to remember the innocent children from the APS Peshawar Attack  

Every year, we either see a bomb detonating in a location or someone being kidnapped. The reign of evil has not slowed down; rather, the situation escalates by the minute. Such acts of terrorism often make one wonder a lot of things. One of them is wondering what it takes to make an individual go to such lengths. 

On December 16th, 2021, we take a moment to remember our brave, fallen heroes from the 2014 APS Peshawar Attack. It is an event that still sends a wave of trauma hurtling through our bones and tears rolling down our eyes.

APS Peshawar Attack 2014

In 2014, all limits were crossed when a school was attacked. An army school, no less. This gives rise to some form of personal vendetta against the authorities as well. On the morning of December 16th, students and teachers left for school, hoping to get their daily education dose. They walked into their schools with hopes in their hearts and wind at their heels. On that same day, insurgents made their way into that school.

They did not give a second thought before gunning down any human that came in their crosshairs. These poor children, as well as teachers, became the target for a terrorist attack. They attacked children; innocent children! What causes a person to commit a crime condemned by the highest authorities? Murder in the first degree is bad, but gunning someone down in cold blood, point-blank, is a crime that crosses all humane boundaries.

Remembering The Heroes:

In light of the crime that shook the world seven years ago, many people have taken to Twitter to mourn the loss. Many have posted, which reminds us why we need to keep fighting for the right thing. This heavy Twitter presence signifies that no one has forgotten this event yet. It is as fresh in their minds as it was, years ago.

Some hashtags have become more used today too. These include #APSPeshawar, #BlackDay, #دسمبر16_اور_پاکستان_ٹوٹ_گیا, #APSMartyrsDay, #APSAttack, 144 Dreams, 144 Families, and 144 Kids. Each of these tags and trending phrases hold the key to how we feel about the event. They were truly are heroes because they had left the house to move towards their goal. They will be considered martyrs, and they deserve every ounce of respect from us.

Something We Can Never Forget:

This event signifies that so long as evil resides, we cannot rest and sit back. They entered the school and opened fire. They didn’t give it a second thought, and they had no regrets about what they did.

In honor of the fallen heroes, let us take another moment to remember them. They truly were the bravest of us, the 144 souls!

Unilever Veteran Leena Nair To Lead Chanel Global As CEO

The first female and youngest-ever Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at FMCG Unilever, Leena Nair stepped away to join the French luxury fashion group Chanel as its Global CEO. She is the second Indian-origin woman to take over as a global CEO after Indra Nooyi (PepsiCo), who happens to be Leena’s mentor.

“Leena Nair, CHRO, has decided to leave the company in January 2022. Meanwhile, she is all set to pursue a new career opportunity as Global Chief Executive Officer, Chanel Ltd,” Unilever said in a statement.

Nair shared the news on her twitter account.

“I will always be a proud advocate of Unilever and its ambition to make sustainable living commonplace. Overwhelmed by the love and support my appointment as Chanel CEO has got. Thank you! Please trust that I am reading every comment, even if I don’t reply to everyone individually,” Nair tweeted.

“Chanel has always inspired me. It is a company that believes in the freedom of creation, in cultivating human potential and in acting to have a positive impact in the world,” she added.

She also shared the news on her Instagram with a heartfelt post.

Nair’s 30-year-long career at Unilever comes to an end with her as the chief of human resources. She also served as a member of the company’s executive committee. Unilever’s CEO, Alan Jope, thanked her for her “outstanding contribution”, adding that she “has been a pioneer through her career. As well as a driving force on Unilever’s equity, diversity, and inclusion agenda. She has played a critical role in building our purpose-led, future-fit organisation.”

The Indian born British national has been given the charge of ensuring Chanel’s “long term success as a private company”, a statement says. Meanwhile, recognising Leena Nair as a “visionary leader whose ability to champion a long-term, purpose-driven agenda is matched with a consistently strong record of business outcomes”.

From 2016 to date, Alain Wertheimer, who owns Chanel with his brother Gerard Wertheimer, temporarily serves as CEO’s. However, now the 73-year-old French billionaire will now take on the role of global Executive Chairman.

Peek Freans’ renowned Lemon Sandwich has gotten its very own plagiarized copy. The brand, Cookania has launched a product that looks like an explicit copy of EBM’s creation.

People took to their social media posting pictures of the biscuit. Ironically, the name is similar and is painted on Peak Freans’ signature yellow. Of course, the yellow is a bit different.

Netizens rally for Peek Freans

The moment people got to know of the plagiarism being done, they rallied in favor of Peek Freans. Trolling Cookania, people talked about how, when people make copies, they have to legitimize their authority by mentioning words like asli (real) or qadeemi (old).

Weirdly though, the Cookania Lemon Sandwich is so plagiarized that the ‘original’ on the packet is also plagiarized from Peek Freans’ Lemon Sandwich. People even hinted at copyright infringements.

Other trolls even joked about how other copies will soon begin popping up as well. The reference was towards the copies of EBM’s famous Sooper. Netizens commented on how other companies tried to cash in on the hype of Sooper by issuing doppelganger products such as Sooper Dooper, Snoper, and even Sanober.

Making fun of the creatives who designed the product, people joked about how the designer must have gotten Lemon Sandwich as a reference. And as it happens usually, they produced a carbon copy of that.

For those who love to buy online at affordable rates, AliExpress is not a name unknown. The Chinese e-commerce website is like a goldmine for those who want to shop for the newest gadgets to the biggest bears, latest brands, trends, footwear, appliances, makeup, accessories, and so much more!

Unfortunately for some, the option of paying using a debit or credit card is not a feasible way to make payments which is why they do not get the opportunity to purchase the item they wanted to buy, well, not anymore.

There are a couple of ways to pay for a payment on AliExpress, they are:

  • Westen Union
  • WebMoney
  • Bank Transfer
  • Currency Agent

Western Union

Sending money through the Western Union is a little complex because you have to fill in proper forms and go through a series of steps, instead of sharing your card number and directly transferring payments. However, it is a safe way to ensure your payment is safe, and you get proof of order as well, just in case if needed.

The minimum money transfer amount for Western Union is $20, and the maximum amount is $50,000 it is one of the conditions that apply on buying goods from AliExpress. In order to process the payment, the buyer has to first select the items and save them to your basket. When you are ready to check-out the items (make sure the amount is over $20). When you go to the next step, ‘Place Order’, you will need to select the method of ‘Western Union’, in order to pay for the transaction.

Keep in mind that if you are using the AliExpress app, clicking on more payment methods will take you to the AliExpress webpage. If you’re on a desktop, you’ll directly see a popup with more payment options for Pakistan including Western Union. When the payment method is selected, and the order is completed, the buyer will be redirected to a new page with complete order details. The buyer also needs to wait 24 hours before they head to a Western Union agent and send the money to account provided. It will look something like this:

WebMoney

WebMoney is an online wallet service, all you need to do is create an account, and top it up (with an amount of choice) using online bank transfer, or debit/credit card transfer. Once the sufficient amount has been loaded in the account, the buyer can check the items out, and select WebMoney as the payment option.

Bank Transfer

Another simple method of transferring the payment is through a bank transfer to the retailer’s account from the buyer’s account. It is one of the simple and straightforward methods to pay for the order.

Currency Agent

If none of the methods are feasible for the buyer, a currency agent can help. Some of the agents have foreign bank accounts and debit cards. You can ask them to make the payment for you while you can pay them the usual conversion rate plus a small fee.

In the most recent episode of objectifying women, the gender has been compared with a hot plate of biryani. Yes, you read that right! Biryani. This time, however, it is not in form of a meme, rather on a live show. On a news show on GTV, the anchor had three guests, one of them, Nadia Hussain. In one of the questions, the journalist objectified women and the actress was rightfully angry.

Possibly trying to justify the animal behaviour of those men who harass women, the journalist asked a question. He said that Nadia you might better understand the scenario if your favourite biryani was served in front of you, hot. Would you not eat that?

If one could tear apart this question, it was problematic on numerous levels. It showed that the journalist was a sexist man who considered man and woman’s relation to be that of predator and prey; that men were wired to drool over women.

Nadia Hussain’s rightful response

She lost her cool right away. There was no point in trying to correct the problematic beliefs of the GTV journalist, Owais Rabbani who believed women to be lower than men. Hence, the actress immediately delved to deal with the situation in his own language. She said that if a woman was a plate of biryani and I was dying to have it, I would not. She said that if I knew eating biryani was a crime, I would exercise self restrain. And especially, if eating biryani meant harm to someone else, she would definitely not eat it even if she wanted to eat it.

Passport renewal services previously normally took 15 days for renewal or any update. Moreover, there was the option of a faster service but that also took a whole week i.e. 7 days. Now, this update cuts down the premium time also by 5 entire days. It is a brilliant service that ensures timely renewal of passports.
