The Avari Statement
According to the statement released, it clarified that there are no surveillance cameras present in any of the rooms. The staff and owners of the hotel have no part in the placement of cameras in rooms because it is illegal. It can be a different story if a customer decides to commit such an act but the hotel owners are not supporters of this. They have made it quite clear that they are against the notion of invading privacy.
The statement comes as a relief too as the rumours had begun to escalate. Just a while back, a local hotel was shut down by the authorities because they had CCTVs set up in their rooms. If this case was with Avari, it would have led to a bigger, legal court case. They would have had a plethora of regulations and sanctions rained down on them. Who knows, they may even have closed down!
Of course, this does make one think as to what caused the rumours in the first place. Apparently, it came to light that a political personality had been recorded in one of the Avari hotels on a camera placed in the room. It was also against this that the hotel released the statement, saying their owners and staff had nothing to do with the placement. If it was done, it was done by an outside party and was going to be investigated.
Avari hotel believes in the satisfaction of customers and putting their needs above all. They believe that customers have a right to feel safe in the environment and not feel as if they have an eye on their shoulder. Privacy is a major concern in the real world and the virtual one. Anonymity can make people fearless so you never know what one might do.
We hope that the statement manages to extinguish any flames that have been fanned due to the rumours.

Every time returning as a ghazi, the oldest veteran of the Pakistan army, Sultan Mengal passed away at the age of 103.
Paying tribute to the efforts that he made for the Pakistan army, Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) tweeted about the passing away. In the tweet, it was said that Lieutenant Colonel Mengal was a keen soldier. Further, it said, he covered Pakistan’s terrain with the enthusiasm of an adventurist. He climbed, walked, sailed, skied, and rowed across the terrain on numerous expeditions.

Living for 103 years, he died in Quetta on Sunday. Living up to this age, he gained the title of the oldest veteran in the Pakistan army. In fact, DG ISPR announced this in their tweet as well.

More Information on The Breakthrough
Google has said that to make Android more accessible, the system has been made more sensitive to facial movements. This change has been made because The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 61 million adults in the United States live with disabilities. While neuro-typical and typically abled can make voice commands or use their hands, people with severe motor and speech disabilities can not.
Two major new changes have been made as a result. One of them is called “Camera Switches” in which people can use their faces instead of swipes and taps to use their phones. The other change is called Project Activate. That is a new Android app in which people can use gestures to trigger an action! These changes have made it possible for people to use eye movements and facial gestures to navigate their phones without needing hands or voice.
Currently, the app is available in Australia, Britain, Canada and the United States at the Google Play shop.

‘Travel Responsibly for Experiencing Ecotourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’ (TREK) – is a collaboration between KP govt, World Bank & Nestlé to promote responsible tourism for a waste-free future.
Earlier in December 2020, Prime Minister Imran Khan had unveiled the logo for TREK, which is part of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (KITE) project and has been listed amongst the federal government’s key achievement for 2020. The partners had vowed to work together for the protection of ecosystem through solid waste management and plastics recycling at the tourism sites across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Addressing participants of the two-day training, Tashfeen Haider, KP Additional Secretary Tourism Department said, “TREK is an initiative under the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism Development (KITE) project being implemented in partnership with the World Bank Group and Nestlé Pakistan.”
“Activities within TREK include provision of solid waste management equipment, awareness campaigns for tourists, and training of local communities on waste minimization that we just concluded under KITE,” he said.
Talking about the initiative, Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs & Sustainability, Nestlé in Pakistan & Afghanistan said, “We are excited that the community engagement leg of TREK has kicked off and these trainings for the hospitality sector will help realize our vision for shaping a waste-free future by driving new behaviors that contribute towards a cleaner environment.”
“At Nestlé, our vision is that none of our packaging, including plastics, ends up in landfill or rivers. To achieve this, we have set ourselves the commitment of ensuring 100% of our packaging is reusable or recyclable by 2025,” he added.
Kiran Afzal, Senior Private Sector Specialist, of the World Bank Group shared, “We are happy to bring this initiative to Swat which is experiencing an increasing influx of tourists. We are hopeful that this partnership will produce results on the ground by encouraging a responsible attitude towards destination management and respect for the ecosystem.”
Campaign focusing on Reduce, Reuse and Recycle and a Community Engagement plan which includes activities that will help in countering the issues of waste, pollution and destruction of wildlife, in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 12, 13, 15 and 17.
The two-day waste management training comprised of sessions on categorizing waste, the importance of recycling, learning to conduct waste audits, basic food safety, and the importance of WASH compliance among others. The event concluded with souvenir distribution for participants by Ghulam Saeed, Director General Directorate of Tourist Services and Touseef Khalid Project Director KITE.
In June 2021, the TREK communication campaign in Nathiagali was launched to promote responsible tourism in the Galiyat region. At the launch, 2,000 reusable bags were handed out to Galiyat Development Authority (GDA) for local tourists and hotel associations. Radio and social media campaigns have been launched. Furthermore, locals and tourists are being encouraged to keep Galiyat clean as part of TREK’s communication campaign.
This was followed by a two-day training titled “TREK for Healthier Kids” in August 2021. It concluded with the distribution of 4,000 reusable bags and 2,300 N4HK books to children in Galiyat.

2. Bakery Chips
C’mon! I get that they are fragile, and by the time you reach your destination, they may have turned to powder. But there are ways to get around that. You can put the packets in a box and put it in the luggage. I endorse them highly because they are just the right level of spicy. You have that reminder of home in case the available halal food is bland.
3. Noodles
Maggi is not available anymore, but there are many alternatives available now. Just put the noodles and tastemakers in a bowl and pour hot water over it. Your halal food is all ready for you to rock and roll. After a tiring day of exploring, come back to the hotel to some hot, spicy, and halal food.

4. Biscuits…
I mean, do I have to explain why I mention biscuits. They are a better alternative to chips as well. I mean, considering chips are fried in oil, they are more haram than haram foods. Therefore, keep half rolls or ticky packs with you. They are more fulfilling and at least healthier than chips. And if you don’t like sweet stuff, you can always choose non-sweet ones such as Zeera biscuits.
5. Khasta roti
Tell me; you know Khasta roti! Because if you don’t, my friends, your childhood was sad. Looking back at those nostalgic times, we can also choose to take khasta roti with us. Crush it entirely, and you can store it at room temperature for days. With a little bit of sugar, crushed khasta roti, and milk, there is no other perfect combination. So you can take that along too.

5. Alternative to Antibody Test
Tim Spector is a professor of genetic epidemiology at King’s College. He said if this is a marker of COVID-19 infection, then it will help diagnose the virus.
“If we get enough numbers that are associated with asymptomatic COVID-19, that’s a cheap antibody test,” he said. “People just need to look down at their nails.”

In a recent turn of events, a most morbid piece of news has surfaced. There is much disturbing news that we come across every day. However, this one might make the hairs on your arm stand on end. It involves the torture and killing of a fourteen-year-old boy! According to sources, the boy, Talha, had been visiting his paternal uncle in Lahore. He left his uncle’s house on Tuesday to play in the street and did not return for some hours.
Upon launching a search, the police found his torture and deceased body in an under-construction house by the Uncle’s residence. The entire incident has left everyone in a major state of shock and disgust. It seems that the suspect is a fifteen-year-old boy who confessed to the murder and torture shortly after. The suspect, Raza, said he did so over a dispute. It is a dark day in the country when youngsters have resorted to this kind of violence.
The suspect, Raza, is a friend of the deceased and one of his closest ones. It seems that Talha was going to tie the knot with a girl in the future years. However, Raza had given a proposal to the girl, who had rejected it. This is the prime motivation that led Raza to commit the unthinkable. It seems that Talha tying the knot with her, sometime in the future, is something that the fifteen-year-old could not fathom.
Thus, Raza tortured and killed Talha out of sheer revenge. Is this what we resort to on such an issue? Can we not use words to express ourselves and rather perform heinously sickening acts? This is not the mind of a person who sees other humans as humans. There is no court in the world or the world after, where such an act can ever be justified. One cannot fathom what goes on in an individual’s mind to cause such a disgusting act. This is not just a crime against the family, these are crimes against everything a person stands for!

According to another source, Talha’s cousin said that the killer is not a 15-year-old, rather an 8-year-old. His father is a lawyer who is protecting his son after what has been done. Raza visited Talha and asked him to hang out, and the latter agreed to do so. The suspect then took the deceased friend to a vacant lot and proceeded to beat him up with a brick multiple times. The body has gone for an autopsy but the initial report also showed scars on the body. These marks pointed towards torture before the killing, which the suspect has also confessed to.
Everyone is looking to get justice for Talha, an individual struck down before the prime of his life. He had dreams, he had goals for his life. God knows how the parents of the deceased are doing.
