Shahid Afridi’s controversial Kashmir statement has stirred a hornet’s nest, sparking a massive uproar in Indo-Pak media.

While addressing students at the British Parliament, the cricketer stated:

“Don’t give Kashmir to Pakistan or India either. Let them be independent. Humanity is big thing. Human are being killed there (Kashmir). It hurts to see humans are being killed whatever religion they may belong”

Shahid Afridi Wins Hearts Across the Border For Respecting Indian Flag!

The video went viral, igniting a crackling controversy on social media and landing Afridi in troubled waters.

Indian media was quick to create to react to his statement. So much so, the cricketer was labeled as a traitor to Pakistan and Imran Khan.

In an attempt to clear up the mess, Shahid Afridi took to Twitter to clarify that his statements are being blown out of proportion by the Indian media.

However, the damage was done. His views hurt the sentiments of his countrymen as well and provoked India to cash on the statement.

Pakistani media anchors, journalists, and famous personalities also broke silence on the matter, mostly supporting his statement.

Afridi’s wife, Nadia Shahid took to Twitter as well and shared a powerful quote by Allama Iqbal that how politics divides nations.

Meanwhile, Azad Kashmir’s Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider slammed Afridi and told the press:

“It seems that Afridi wants to play in the Indian Premier League and is issuing such statements owing to that.”

This is not the first time Afridi kickstarted a storm by commenting on the sensitive issue. Back in April, the sports star condemned the bloodshed in Kashmir and urged UN to take note of the matter.

Beaconhouse School System & City School Term Government’s Suspension Illegal!

Update: Beaconhouse School System and The City School have released a joint statement again the court’s decision to ban registrations.

Both private institutes have claimed that the government’s decision holds no legal value and that the news has tarnished their reputation. The schools have added that the move was in violation of the orders of Sindh High Court and Supreme Court.

In a joint statement, City School and Beconhouse School’s management revealed:

“The management of Beaconhouse and City School can only, therefore, conclude that the said order was intended to malign their names and promote a negative sentiment amongst their parent bodies. Both institutions are law-abiding bodies and will be replying to the Directorate as per their legal and constitutional right”

Furthermore, the statement reads that the Order which was given by the Supreme Court was on October 1st, private schools were addressed to return the excessive amount of money taken over 5% for the previous year within three months.

This means that the deadline to submit the money to the Court’s Registrar is December 1st.

As of now, 56 branches of City school in Karachi and 65 campuses of Beaconhouse system closed. Whereas, The Education Ministry of Sindh has stated that the schools were reached out to on several different occasions and did not bother to respond even once.

Non-compliance will result in both institutions being sealed under the presence of the Judicial Magistrate.

Update: The Directorate of Inspection & Registration of Private Institutions Sindh (Dirpis) of the School Education & Literacy Department (SELD) have suspended the registrations for The City School and The Beaconhouse School on Wednesday.

The reason behind the verdict was that both private institutions were reportedly not complying with the court’s orders to reduce the fee hike. SELD Media Coordinator Saeed Memon had said that they were approached 5 times but no response was received.

Dirpis Secretary Rafia Javed had instructed all excess amount charged as fees should be returned/adjusted by surrendering the amount to the Supreme Court Registrar.

A Beaconhouse School spokesperson has said that the institution will follow all rules and regulations set by SELD. However, they cannot suspend registrations because they had sought a deadline of December 2nd from the court.

Supreme Court Orders Government to Takeover High Charging Private Schools!

The Sindh government has suspended registrations for The City School and The Beaconhouse School System. This decision was taken because both institutions failed to implement orders given by the court regards to hiking in fees.

A notification has been issued to both administrations of the private schools. The notifications explain that the private institutions were asked repeatedly to implement the court’s orders, however, were not able to.

Private Schools Barred from Increasing Tuition Fees by SHC

The Directorate of education department on private schools had sent handwritten letters to the institutions 5 times before the official notice was sent out.

On violation of SC orders, Registration of The City School & The Beaconhouse School System is suspended by Sindh School Education & Literacy Department. Both schools have 7 days deadline to give back the additional fee/charges to their students.

Registrations of all campuses of The City School and The Beachonhouse School System are suspended till further notice.

Director General Private Institution Sindh Dr. Mansub Hussain Siddiqui has warned all leading private schools who have taken excessive fees illegally from students. They have been ordered to return/adjust the fee to the Supreme Court’s Registrar.

The following private schools have received the notice to follow the court’s orders by the given deadline:

  1. Generation School – 15th November
  2. Nixor Clifton -16th November
  3. Happy Home -16th November
  4. Foundation School -19th November
  5. PECHS School -20th November
  6. Froebel School- 22nd November
  7. Links School Clifton -23rd November
  8. St. Gregory Gulshan-e-Iqbal -23rd November

If these private schools fail to follow the orders by the given dates, their registrations will be revoked.

Following a price increase in the locally assembled line up, Pak Suzuki has now revised their CBU prices amid depreciating Rupee value against the US Dollar.

The increase in prices of CBU vehicles has risen from Rs 100,000 to Rs 300,000. With an increase of 100,000, the Cia Manual is now available for PKR 19.6 Lac, Ciaz automatic for PKR 21.0 Lac, the Vitara GLX for PKR 38.9 Lac and the APV has seen a 300,000 increase in its prices, taking the cost to PKR 27.18 Lac.

Last month, Pak Suzuki had reported a 55% decrease in their profit after tax exclusion for the first 9 months of 2018.

Analysts believe that one of the major risks for the company includes further unfavourable movement in the exchange rate and commodity prices, regulatory changes, increased competition from existing competitors and operational disruption of the principal company.

The future does not look certain for Pak Suzuki as it has discontinued its best selling car, the Mehran. The company needs to keep on increasing its product prices due to the depreciation of Rupee against US Dollar and its volume could suffer more major setbacks in the future.

Higher Education Commission(HEC) has announced HEC Commonwealth Scholarships 2019 for Master and Ph.D. students.

It is a fully-funded scholarship program masters and Ph.D. in the UK for Pakistani students in any field.

Students will not be required to give IELTS, TOEFL or GRE. IELTS will only be required from those candidates who got nominated by the selection committee of Commonwealth.

Once selected, students can take admission in UK Universities in September/October 2019 session.

Punjab Credit Guarantee Scheme: Youth Loan Scheme 2018 Launched

 

These scholarships are offered under the following themes:

  • Strengthening health systems and capacity

  • By October 2019, hold a first degree of at least upper second class (2:1) honors standard, or a second class degree and a relevant postgraduate qualification (usually a Master’s degree)
  • NOT be registered for a Ph.D., or an MPhil leading to a Ph.D., at a UK university before September/October 2019
  • NOT have commenced and been currently registered for a Ph.D., or an MPhil leading to a Ph.D., in your home country or elsewhere
  • Be unable to afford to study in the UK without this scholarship

How to Apply

  • Apply online at HEC website: http://eportal.hec.gov.pk/loa . After registering and filling your profile, please select “Learning Opportunities Abroad” under “Scholarship and Grant” menu in the left-hand side panel of the online portal. After that, apply online to Commonwealth Scholarship through Electronic Application System (EAS).
  • Attach deposit slip of Rs.500/- (in original) deposited through HEC online Account No. 17427900133401 in HBL, Shalimar Recording Company Branch, H-9, Islamabad. All payments are to be made to HEC through HBL online facility. This facility is available in all branches of Habib Bank Ltd.
  • All the applications for Masters/ Ph.D. without submitting both EAS Application form and online HEC form will not be entertained in any case.

Smoking, Naswaar Banned in KP Educational Institutes

After Punjab, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education department has declared a ban on smoking and the use of naswaar in all colleges and universities

A press release reveals that the ban applies to teachers and university staff members as well.

What’s more, weekly sessions will be conducted in all KPK educational institutes to create awareness about the disadvantages of smoking and drugs.

In October, the Lahore High Court issued an order to impose a ban on smoking in public places and in educational institutions as well.

Pakistan Ranked 54th Among Nations on Tobacco Smoking!

The Court further directed the Punjab government to strictly enforce laws relating to a ban and has also summoned the Director General (DG) Social Welfare Sajid Zafar Dall today.

It has also advised the Punjab chief secretary to arrange a meeting and give a brief information regarding the ban to the relevant department.

As a part of its drive against smoking in public, Punjab Chief Secretary Akbar Hussain Durrani advised that a notification should be issued to all public departments directing strict implementation of the law.

During the hearing session, Justice Ali Akbar Qureshi also stressed that smoking should be strictly prohibited at public offices and academic institutions as it is injurious to health.

According to the latest ICC ODI Rankings, Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman has achieved a career-best ranking to date from the series in the UAE, which ended at one-all after the decider in Dubai was washed-out.

The left-handed opener had scores of one, 88 and 65, which have lifted him six places to 11th in the latest rankings. The 28-year-old, however, will not be part of the Test squad.

Similarly, Shadab Khan has also achieved a career-high bowling ranking but will not feature in the upcoming Tests. The wrist spinner bagged six wickets in the series, including four for 38 in the second match, to vault 16 places to 24th position.

The other bowler to make an impact in the ODIs and one to look out for in the Tests is Lachlan Ferguson. The New Zealand fast bowler had figures of three for 40, three for 60 and five for 45 during the series, which also reflect in the latest rankings, in which he has rocketed 31 places to 42nd.

Shaheen Afridi, who took nine wickets in the series and won the player of the series award, has risen 66 places to sit just outside the top-100 in 118th position.

However, Trent Boult and Hasan Ali have been unable to either defend or improve their rankings.

Boult had made a dream start to his season when he took a hat-trick in only his second over. However, he managed to add just one more wicket to his tally and consequently finished in the seventh position after starting in fourth place.

Hasan, who had started the year with a number one ranking, has continued to slide. After falling three places following his four wickets, he is now ranked 13th but remains his side’s highest-ranked bowler.

You end up staring at a blank screen only to realize that your phone is… DEAD! The situation is nerve-wracking and can put even the tech-enthusiasts of people into a tight spot.

However, there is a way to revive a dead Android phone!

There are some rather simple troubleshooting ideas that you can take to identify the problem and try to fix it.

Before you take your phone to your carrier, try figuring out the problem yourself, by doing the following steps:

1. Plug in the Charger

If there is a charger near you, grab it, plug it in and hit the power button again. The battery might just be dead as it is not unheard of defective batteries losing charge abruptly.

Once the cable is plugged into the phone, it should be able to start up. If your phone has lights for notifications, this is a good way to know if the charging indicator comes on. The very least that means that the circuit from the USB to the main port is working fine.

If this works, then you might just have a broken battery, which can be easily replaced, however, if this still does not, then its time to take some drastic steps.

Twitterverse was quick to troll the brand after the crashing episode! 

A flood of memes erupted on the web and some of them were pretty savage!

But Daraz came back even stronger with an epic reply to all the haters. Apologizing for the inconvenience caused due to the crash, the website offered a voucher code to make up to its customers.
