Netherlands Resumes Visa Operations in Pakistan

netherlands

The Kingdom of Netherlands has now resumed all the consular and visa related services a few hours after suspending it.

In a statement on Monday morning, the Dutch embassy said that it had halted visa operations “due to circumstances beyond our control”.

Later, the ambassador of Netherlands to Pakistan, Ardi Stoios-Braken tweeted about he resumption of consular and visa services in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

Turkey’s Visa-on-Arrival Policy Ends for 100 Nations

Earlier, the Dutch website ‘Netherlands and You’ reported:

“the issuance of visa(s) for Pakistan has been halted temporarily.”

It further stated:

“As soon as this situation is solved, appointments for visa applications can be made through the visa application centers of VFS Global in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan also clarified on Twitter that the Netherlands Embassy in Pakistan is open while issuance of visa had been temporarily halted.

It is to be noted that back in August this year, ties between Netherlands and Pakistan heated up when a blasphemous caricature contest was being organized in Holland.

The controversy resulted in a series of protests all over Pakistan and by August 31, the Dutch government announced to call off the competition.

Leading fashion designer Deepak Parwani hosted a grand Diwali bash over the weekend. And as expected, all the big-wigs of Pakistan’s fashion and entertainment world turned up to party the night out.

Our celebrities geared up to put their grand, most elegant fashion foot forward. Dressing to the nines, some stars wowed us with their exquisite looks. The rest failed to ace their style statements and made us wonder what went wrong!

Halloween 2018: Best & Worst Looks of Pakistani Celebrities

It was a saree extravagnaza for women while men mostly dressed in kameez shalwar.

So without further ado, we bring to you the best and worst dressed Pakistani celebrities from Deepak’s Diwali party.

Best Dressed Celebrities

Mahira Khan

Mahira Khan never goes wrong with her sartorial choices. The heavy jhumkay, minimal makeup, red lips, and plain black gharara made her look flawless.

Fauzia Aman

The supermodel looked no less than a sultry siren at the Diwali bash. Draped in graceful white saree and straight, parted hair, Fauzia looked every bit of vision.

Ayesha Omer

Choosing maroon, black and gold, Ayesha literally glowed at the event. Her regal lehnga made her look all ready to make their Bollywood debut in a Karan Johan movie.

Sarwat Gillani and Fahad Mirza

The pair always look perfect in desi wear and complimented each other in white. Although we are not rooting for Sarwat’s blingy bag.

Sadaf Kanwal

With a shocking pink and mehndi green saree and her megawatt smile, Sadaf was easily turning heads at the bash.

Wasim Akram & Shaneria

The Akrams dressed minimalistic but rocked their desi wear. Shaneria’s blonde beachy waves and no-makeup totally complimented her beige outfit.

Worst Dressed Celebrities

Areeba Habib

Seems like Areeba Habib failed to pull off her floral Nomi Ansari lehenga. The green sling bag made it look even more off-putting.

Zhalay Sarhadi

Is it us or the grey-black maxi by Zhalay give her more of a gothic look. Not so much of a Diwali ensemble.

Ayesha Toor

Ayesha Toor’s strapless saree was a huge disappointment. Its huge flowery motifs reminded us of a bedsheet. Giving her look a major thumbs down.

Sonya Hussyn

The starlets’ bright yellow saree with fringes with an eyesore. Better luck next time Sonya.

Nausheen Shah

Somebody needs to tell Nausheen Shah that it was a Diwali party and not a cultural evening.

With her remarkable achievement, Rabia Shahzad has made the whole nation proud. The Federal Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari also took to Twitter to appreciate this super talented young lady.

It sure is a proud moment for all of us and it’s just great to see how our young talent is emerging from various field, representing Pakistan at the global platform. But, it also calls for the need to support our youngsters and create opportunities for them to showcase and enhance their skills.

Even though Rabia was able to represent Pakistan at this International Championship but she was disappointed that the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation has not really been supportive.

In her post-championship media talk, Rabia mentioned how she wanted to participate in the Asian Powerlifting Championship but couldn’t do so as the federation did nothing to ensure her participation.

She said,

“The women players federation does nothing to help us participate in competitions.”

Rabia added,

World’s Happiest Countries of 2018: Pakistan Among Top 80

World's Happiest Countries of 2018

In the latest edition of the UN’s World Happiness Report, Finland tops 155 other countries when it comes to well-being, as measured by metrics like income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust, and generosity.

Overall, the results of this year’s top 10 list have changed little in the last two years, with the exception of a bit of shuffling: The top 10 positions are held by the same countries, including Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland, which round out the top five spots.

Pakistan Beats India and Other Bordering Nations

Pakistan ranks rank 75th out of 156, leaving behind India (133), Afghanistan (145) and Iran (106).

One of the most obvious commonalities shared by nearly all those countries? They’re located in the upper Northern Hemisphere and experience cold, wintry climes.

The report is based on the pooled results from Gallup World Poll surveys from 2015-2017.

New this year, researchers also looked at the well-being of immigrant populations living in 117 countries and found that the top 10 list mirrors the results of the overall list for world’s happiest countries.

Finland, for example, tops the list of countries with the happiest immigrant populations as well.

“The most striking finding of the report is the remarkable consistency between the happiness of immigrants and the locally born,” said co-editor Professor John Helliwell of the University of British Columbia, Canada in a statement.

“Although immigrants come from countries with very different levels of happiness, their reported life evaluations converge towards those of other residents in their new countries. Those who move to happier countries gain, while those who move to less happy countries lose,” though the adjustment of happiness is not complete, as migrants still reflect in part the happiness of their birth country.

The country to mark the biggest gains in the overall list is Togo, which jumped 17 places from 2015, when it landed at the very bottom of the heap.

Venezuela recorded the biggest decline in well-being, and the US dropped four spots from last year to 18th spot.

Here are the top 10 happiest countries in the world 2018:

1. Finland
2. Norway
3. Denmark
4. Iceland
5. Switzerland
6. Netherlands
7. Canada
8. New Zealand
9. Sweden

Alibaba Breaks Another ‘Singles Day’ Record!

Alibaba 11.11 sale

Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, earned a total $30.7 billion from orders on Sunday during its annual “Singles Day” shopping frenzy, the platform earned just $8bn within 12 minutes.

The world’s biggest 24-hour shopping event, celebrating its tenth year, kicked off early Sunday and once again shattered its own sales mark as Chinese online buyers seized on promotions to snap up everything from electronics to clothing and housewares.

Sales rose 27 percent, compared with 39 percent last year.

Alibaba’s Alipay Acquires 45% Shares of Telenor Micro Finance Bank

Although retail sales in China have been steady, the outlook is uncertain as the economy slows and concerns rise over the impact of the trade war with the United States.

Alibaba’s share price, which doubled in 2017, is down 16 percent this year.

Singles Day was originally set aside as an unofficial day for China’s unmarried, but Alibaba latched on to it a decade ago as a shopping promotion akin to the late-November US “Black Friday” retail crush.

Capitalising on the growing addiction to one-click smartphone payments in China, it has proven a huge success.

But Alibaba earlier this month lowered slightly its full-year revenue forecast, citing consumer uncertainty over the economic outlook.

I think you have to understand Alibaba and what Alibaba is doing in the context of the long-term secular trend that’s developing in China, which is the rise of the Chinese middle class

That trend is not going to stop, trade war or no trade war. -Alibaba Executive Vice Chairman Joe Tsai said at a Singles Day gala.

Company officials remained bullish on the future, however, as Alibaba pushes new initiatives.

Besides expanding overseas, the e-commerce giant continues to invest in China in what it calls “new retail”, which optimizes in-store sales and service using data culled online.

Hema, a grocery store launched by Alibaba in 2015 and one of the “new retail” flagships, allows customers to shop and dine in-store as well as order groceries online.

PUBG Mobile Tips & Tricks to WIN All Battles!

‘Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds’ also known as PUBG is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed by PUBG corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.

The popular gaming app is currently is sitting on top of the Android PlayStore. With millions of people around the world playing the game, it is important to have some useful tips and tricks up your sleeve.

PUBG Mobile

1. Choose Where to Land Carefully

A PUBG game can last as long as 30 minutes, but if things don’t go your way, it could all end very quickly in mere seconds. One of the ways users mess up is by misjudging the initial landing spot. In order to have a smooth landing, aim for the best loot spots in the game’s Erangel map and at the same time try to avoid as many players as possible.

‘Fortnite’ Fever is Cooling Down!

2. Loot First, Shoot Later

PUBG Mobile

Unfortunately, death in PUBG means the end, especially as a solo player there are no second chances. Even if you’re playing with a squad and a particular player is not up to the mark, you will keep getting down early.

Once you’ve jumped from the cargo plane, your first priority is to gear up and then collect the crucial loot scattered around in buildings and supply crate drops. Supply crates include valuable weaponry such as AWM sniper rifle, which is extremely powerful but again you need to be wary of other players who’ll be hunting for it too.

The most important loot in the early stages is a half-decent weapon, ammo, strong armor and a backpack that will be upgraded in level 3. Any weapon is better than your fists so grab any firearm before engaging a foe.

3. Only Shoot When in Range

pubg mobile

This is an error a lot of users make, and it will get you killed most definitely. There is a fine balance between when to hide and when to attack, and you will need to find that balance. You should never open fire unless you’re absolutely certain your firearm will hit the target.

Knowing when you’re in range is key, but for newcomers, it will take some practice. Shotguns and SMG’s are useful for up-close burst damage, assault rifles, and pistols are good for midrange fights and sniper rifles are perfect for long distance shots.

4. Keep an Eye on the Map

PUBG Mobile

It takes a few games to learn the layout of the map and while you’re getting used to the landscape, make sure you pay attention to the minimap and keep an eye on the diminishing play area. In PUBG the only safe area lies within ‘The Circle’ and the circle will shrink at different times in the match and if you end up outside of it, you will be dead.

5. Wheels are Better Than Legs

pubg mobile

In order to get somewhere fast, you need a vehicle and they are littered around Erangel but you will find them mostly near cities and on the main roads. However, there are other players looking for the same vehicles as well, so you need to be sure its safe before approaching it.

The motorcycles and buggy are great for zipping but will leave you exposed in the play area. Large vehicles are slow but good enough to carry up to 4 people with a bit of protection as well.

Considering that you need to remain in the safe zone and that the blue player’s area boundary closes in really fast, wheels are the best way to travel. Especially because you lose a lot of your health if you are outside the safe zone.

These tips might be the turning point you need to get ahead of everyone else in the game, give it a try and as always please do let us know.
