Muhammed Suleman Thaniana, a student of the Karachi Grammar School (KGS),was awarded a Bronze Model in the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) held in Slovakia and the Czech Republic from July 19 to 29.

The annual competition is a ground-breaking opportunity for pre-university science students to solve challenging theoretical and experimental science problems.

As many as 340 students from 76 nations participated in the global event. The 4 member Pakistani team was led by Dr. Khalid Mohammed Khan and Dr. Muhammad Raza Shah of HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry.

The teams were furthermore shortlisted by the STEM Careers Programme (SCP) and HEJ.

A screening test was held in eight cities in Pakistan to select participants from a pool of more than 5,000 applicants.

Various grooming classes and training camps were held at the HEJ Chemistry Institute, leading to the selection of the four-member team from KGS.
