The news of Alibaba, the world’s largest e-commerce platform, acquiring Daraz.pk spread like wildfire not too long ago!
Many individuals were concerned that if China has purchased the platform, then there might be issues for local Pakistani vendors as Daraz is the largest and fastest growing online platform within in country.
However, industry experts believe that the group will introduce Chinese products while keeping the essence of the platform to bring variety to the market.
“Cross-border trade is an important part of the future, but in the first place we will focus on enabling local sellers to offer their products to all consumers in their home countries,” -Daraz’s new management
Alibaba has already acquired Rocket Internet’s Daraz Group in several other countries including Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Nepal, with Pakistan’s market being the largest with over 5 million customers.
“We have observed that investment in mobile application gives higher returns than the website as app users show more loyalty once they download it,” -Syed Mehdi Raza, Director Marketing of Daraz to local website
“When one needs a keychain, Daraz should come in mind,” said the director marketing. “We will also be investing in logistics to make sure our services reach consumers everywhere,” he added.
