Last week, revered and highly respected Islamic scholar, Maulana Tariq Jameel released a video with a message to promote peace and harmony amongst all.

Immediately, Ducky Bhai, Shameer Abbas, and Sham Idrees responded over his call for peace.

However, Maulana Tariq Jameel’s sermon moved him to end all old, public disputes he had had with Waqar Zaka, Shahmeer Abbas and Junaid Akram.

Yet another controversy has taken over social media, this time involving HUM TV and Moomal Productions.

It all started when film and drama actor Faizan Sheikh took to social media, naming and shaming the network for threatening his sister, Rabya and not paying her the complete dues.

For those who watch the on-going Hum TV drama Meer Abro, will know that Rabya plays the role of Sana in the drama.

Apparently, Rabya had completed 95% shooting of the drama and had informed Moomal Productions beforehand that she will be traveling soon.

However, a clash of dates occurred for the pending shoot. The actress was threatened to complete the project else she will be banned from television.

According to Faizan Sheikh:

Rabya was threatened by Anila Mushtaq that if she leaves the country and doesn’t shoot, HUM TV will ban her and she will never be cast by anyone in the industry. Furthermore, HUM TV will get her UK visa canceled.

He further added:

AD saif khan shouted on her and tried to harass her on set by being loud and pushy.

Meanwhile, the issue got resolved but Moomal Productions did not pay her the complete amount.

Faizan reveals:

 Rabya got her final cheque which was supposed to be 182K and she got a cheque of only 30K with a letter from moomal production with the break down of all the expenses they had to bear in order to shoot with rabya’s body double meanwhile she was away.

To my shock, I read it and was surprised to see the content of the letter, it had expenses like generator rent, eng camera rent, car rent, body doubles fee as well as food rent.

I was sad and surprised at the same time to see this. Not because HUM TV is a reputable channel, but because moomal is a known production house and to top it all, my mom has worked in this industry for all of her life.

Blasting at HUM and Moomal Productions, Faizan also attached a letter of the cheque as proof

Meanwhile, actors like Faysal Qureshi, Jibran Syed and Aijaz Aslam urged Faizan to discuss the matter with the President and Director of Hum Network Limited, Sultana Siddiqui.

According to one of the victim’s sister, there was a post about a reasonable job on a popular Facebook page. When individuals asked for more information in regards to it, the hacker would share a link as a reply.

Once the linked is clicked, the hacker gains control of the account and can get access to all data and information, including private messages and pictures.

Now rape allegations on Kami are taking social media by storm after Minahil further exposed her.

Minahil Baloch, who goes by the handle @surkhminahil, is a film student and blogger who recently became popular for filming and sharing her experience with a bike hailing service.

Baloch was recently also able to harness her social media influence to crowdfund a motorcycle for herself.

Speaking to Dawn Images, Kami has denied all accusations put forward by social media users:

There is a group against me. People’s personal agendas are involved. There’s nothing else I can really say. Now people from my committee will speak up.

I have a calm temperament and I am a trans woman, people should understand how trans individuals have been oppressed in the past and in the present. If people want to say these things, well, that is their right.”

Following this episode, other influencers began opening up about their thoughts on the case.

Another one of the people reportedly threatened by Kami is Shumaila H. Shahani, a feminist lawyer, and researcher.

It has been reported that Kami Sid and her partner Sid are being accused of a rape case that took place around 5 years ago when the victim was 14 years of age.

The accuser was a transwoman herself had shattered the silence by taking the complaint to her guru, who confronted Kami to resolve the matter.

The story circulating on social media reveals that Kami paid a sum of 10 to 15,000 to the guru as compensation.

The Storm is Jeopardizing the Already Marginalized Trans Community

The social media storm is upsetting many of Kami’s (former) supporters, as it is causing further damage to the already marginalized transgender community.

Facebook has now confirmed that WhatsApp will support ads as a part of the Status from 2020.

WhatsApp Status is the equivalent of Instagram Stories, Facebook has already implemented something similar for Instagram and will adopt the same for WhatsApp.

Apple to Warn iPhone Users Before Slowing Their Devices

Apple‘s iPhone is one of the most popular smartphone devices around the world. Users were heartbroken when the tech giant confirmed that they slow down a device’s performance and battery over time.

Now, the titan has signed an agreement with UK’s Competition and Markets Authority (CMA). According to it, Apple will now be more “clearer and more upfront” about its iOS updates that affect the iPhone’s performance and battery.

In an official statement, the UK government said:

The CMA became concerned that people might have tried to repair their phone or replace it because they weren’t aware the software update had caused the handset to slow down

In 2018, an Apple iPhones received an iOS update which was rolled out ended automatically throttling older devices as it gave users the option to do so themselves, in cases when the iPhone crashed due to the old battery.

The CMA pointed out that if Apple decides to break the rules, then they will take the firm to court.

Today’s announcement locks the firm into formal commitments always to notify people when issuing a planned software update if it is expected to materially change the impact of performance management on their phones. It may take action through the courts.

Huawei Ban in US: Japanese & South Korean Brands to Also Suspend Business?

Following Google, AMD, Intel, Qualcomm and other well-known companies ending their ties with Huawei due to the ban by the US government, Panasonic has also suspended its business with the tech manufacturer.

This comes as a surprise as Panasonic is a Japanese brand, yet it is suspending its business, which comes as another blow for the Chinese firm.

In an official statement, Panasonic spokesman Joe Flynn said:

We’ve stopped all business transactions with Huawei and its 68 group companies … that are subject to the US government ban. Yesterday an internal instruction to fully enforce that rule was issued.

Flynn further shared that both Panasonic and Huawei’s business involved the supply of “electronic parts”, but he declined to share anything more.

Huawei Smartphone Release Postponed in Japan & Britain

Mobile carriers in Japan and Britain have decided to postpone the release of Huawei smartphones. British telecom giant EE explained that it will phase out the equipment used made by the Chinese giant in the most sensitive “core” elements of its network infrastructure.

Japan’s telecom carriers were allocated 5G spectrum by regulators just last month which was a major milestone just ahead of the launch of the high-speed wireless service. The technology can work 20 times faster than 4G and is essential for emerging technology.

South Korean Firms to End Ties with Huawei?

It is also reported that Washington is intensifying its efforts to have the Chinese firm blacklisted by South Korean firms.

US government is wanting the South Korean firms to end all ties with the Chinese tech giant. While South Korea is a US ally, it is also China’s biggest export market.

During a meeting with a South Korean counterpart LG Uplus Corp, the US State Department reportedly said  Huawei’s equipment, should “not be allowed to serve in sensitive areas in South Korea” the Chosun newspaper reported.

LG Uplus has not received any statements or requests from either South Korea’s foreign ministry or the United States regarding our use of Huawei equipment, -an LG Uplus official 

With the US backbend on excluding Huawei, Asain suppliers will be forced to choose between Chinese telecom giants and selling to American firms.

Chinese firms account for 25 of Huawei’s 92 core global suppliers, 11 are from Japan, 10 from Taiwan, 2 from South Korea and Hong Kong and 1 from Singapore. There are 33 American firms on its list of suppliers as well.

Reportedly, the US government has also sent countless messages to South Korea’s Foreign Ministry through different diplomatic channels in order to notify them that Huawei products can cause “security threats” the Chosun reports.

With Eid-ul-Fitr 2019 just around the corner, the Government of Sindh has announced good news for its employees and pensioners.

According to Geo News, full pay and allowances for the month of May 2019 will be allotted to all employees of the provincial government ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.

A statement has been issued by the Sindh Ministry of Finance in this regard.

What’s more, the notification stated that all autonomous corporations and municipal workers will also be given their salaries before Eid.

Armed forces will be deployed as a part of the biggest security operations at Old Trafford for the ICC World Cup 2019 clash between rivals India and Pakistan reports Cricket Pakistan.

The reason behind the deployment is to prevent possible terrorist attacks as both countries are already facing a political feud.

Government is Considering Cheap Low-Grade Petrol for Motorcycles

Prime Minister Imran Khan and his government are considering to introduce special low-grade petrol for motorcycles across the country.

This decision is an alternative for affordable fuel for the masses who own a two-wheeled vehicle.

PM Khan has reportedly directed his special assistant on petroleum Nadeem Babar to look over the proposal for introducing 80-82RON petrol.

Sources say that the proposal has been floated by an Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) official,  Dr Abdullah Malik.

Pakistanis had been using 87RON till two years ago and switched to 92RON in order to meet international fuel standards. The country gave up on the 82RON low-grade fuel almost 3 decades ago.

Research Octane Number or RON is used to indicate the quality of the fuel, the higher the number the cleaner and better the fuel.

The Senate Standing Committee on Petroleum is looking into the matter today to establish how the low-grade fuel can be distributed.

According to Dr. Malik, the introduction of the fuel can help reduce fuel import by $1 billion annually.

He also stated that 35-45% of fuel consumption is observed by owners of motorcycles. He also shared that 80-82RON petrol would be better than EURO-II in terms of quality for two-wheel owners.

On the other hand, the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) has opposed the proposal. The association shared that they were informed by the majority of domestic refineries who have outdated facilities, that they are unable to efficiently produce higher RON fuels leading to the import to meet demands.

This policy initiative (of 80-82RON) will be a huge step backward in a long-standing national goal of achieving international standards -the PAMA said

We have now to see if the policy will be implemented or will be dismissed.

The One Ring Scam returns as Pakistani mobile customers once again become targets of the attack.

This is to be noted that the One-Ring scam is similar to the recent WhatsApp security which allowed an infected phonecall to hack one’s phone and even their OS.

The One Ring scam is similar, an unknown number, mostly from an international number calls an individual and the call ends just after one ring, hence the name. When the person calls back then become targets of a scam.

The individual who calls back is charged a fee as the number is situated outside of the country, for every minute the person entertains the call, they will be heavily charged with a ridiculous amount.

Moreover, it copies your contacts and starts calling them as well. If you are getting calls from such numbers that means someone from your contact list became a victim of it.

Furthermore, certain callers ask you to dial #90 or #09 from your mobile. This is yet another trick used to access the user’s SIM card and make calls at the card owner’s expense.

The user can be charged with criminal activities if any are found being conducted through the SIM card.

These numbers come from a number of international countries including the United States, Serbia, Tanzania, Belraus, Lativa, and other countries.

The United Arab Emirates’ economy observed a fall due to plummeting oil prices back in 2014, which resulted in a fall in the employment of white-collar professionals.

Moreover, last year the UAE Cabinet had also approved the idea of providing renewable 10-year visas to foreigners with investments of at least 10 million dirhams in the UAE. The visa allowed chosen investors to bring their spouses and offspring into the country as well.

While for UAE real estate owners with real estate worth at least 5 million dirhams, a five-year residency permit was approved.

Huawei OS & Play Store Might Debut in Fall!

After the US government blacklisted Huawei, tech companies including Google, Intel, and Qualcomm cut off their ties with the brand. This meant that Huawei was to lose its Android license.

However, Huawei was smart enough to start working on its own operating system (OS) called ‘HongMeng’, which is reportedly to debut in fall. Although this news has not been confirmed by the tech titan, consumer business CEO Richard Yu has supposedly shared the information in a private WeChat group.

Huawei’s OS has been on the cards for some time now, news of them working on it was floating around for years. According to the ban, Huawei will lose access to all Google applications and updates, the company will only be able to access the Android Open Source Project.

As for those who already own a Huawei or Honor handset, the Google Play Store and all Google applications will continue to work on them.

Since not much is known about Huawei’s OS, we are unsure about what it might bring with it. However, this does mean that Huawei will have its own Play Store in order to survive the post-Android era. Bloomberg’s report hints that Huawei’s App Gallery, which has been a part of Huawei and Honor smartphones is the alternative to Google Play Store.

The report further shares that Huawei offered app makers in 2018 inroads to the Chinese market which is by far the largest smartphone market in the world, if they build software for Huawei’s app gallery.

We have now to wait and see what Huawei has in store for its customers.
