Instagram Might Hide Like Counts on Photos

Instagram has been experimenting with a new feature in which it hides a post’s like count.

Reportedly, users will still be able to tap on the heart icon and will function as it does but the count will not show.

The feature was first picked up by Jane Manchun Wong who is often hunting for such details on Insta and Twitter. She shared an image to show what the new feature looks like without the counter.

In the image, there is a small description by Instagram which reads:

We want your followers to focus on what you share, not how many likes your posts get. During this test, only the person who shared a post will see the total number of likes it gets.

In a statement to The Verge, Insta officials have shared:

We’re not testing this at the moment, but exploring ways to reduce pressure on Instagram is something we’re always thinking about.

We have now to see if Instagram goes ahead with this experiment or will it drop the idea overall. Time will tell for this one.

Lahore witnessed the biggest event of the year, PFDC Sunsilk Fashion Week 2019 over the weekend (April 11th- April 13th). The extravagant affair took place at The Nishat Hotel, Lahore where 24 talented designers presented their brilliant showcase.

There was magic in the air and energy which kept buzzing all night long. It was an affair to remember as Pakistan’s top designers, models and celebrities took the ramp by storm.

One particular brand that deserves the credit for making it a HUGE success is Sunsilk! It has not only associated itself with the world of fashion but has also has supported it by joining hands with one of the biggest fashion platforms in Pakistan.

Sunsilk Fashion Edition 2019 

The hair care brand collaborated with some of the biggest designers and high street names to launch the Sunsilk Fashion Edition Shampoo range. The high-end names include:

Fashion shows are very engaging but at the same time they can be a little exhausting. Keeping this in mind, Sunsilk gave the attendees a survival bag with lots of goodies and a PSFW Checklist to complete.

Everyone told me, they will leave you in jail for as long as it takes to get Imran to pipe the hell down, so I just got on a plane and left.

Nicolae Goia, Ambassador of Romania to Pakistan had a telephonic conversation with Zulfikar Bukhari, Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development to discuss mutual interest for the countries and its people.

During the conversation, it was discussed that Romania will use manpower given from Pakistan for potential job and migration opportunities.

Furthermore, the Romanian ambassador said that the country can import as many as one million individuals of both skilled and unskilled workers by next year.

The comes after a sudden shortage of manpower within the country as results of the flight of the local workforce to the western European States.

He further stated Romania needs at least 40,000 drivers and the country is willing and ready to accommodate maximum Pakistanis.

A legal framework is yet to be set for the safety and legal protection of the Pakistanis who will eventually migrate there.

Pakistan’s internet capacity is all set to be increased by 96 terabits per second with the country’s first carrier-neutral, open-access submarine cable system, reports Dawn News.

An agreement has been signed between Cybernet Pakistan and Pakistan and East Africa Connecting Europe (PEACE) Cable International Network Company Ltd for the project.

For those who are unaware, Cybernet is building Pakistan’s first carrier-neutral cable landing station for PEACE cable by March 2020 in Karachi.

The Karachi School of Business and Leadership (KSBL) brought together university students from across Pakistan for the avant-garde case study and business simulation game- SIMERGE 2019.

Since the last five years, the leading institute is organizing its 3-day inter-university flagship competition that challenges the knowledge of students in four acumens: HR, Marketing, Finance, and Supply Chain.

Its main goal is to establish a platform where students can practically apply what they learn within the walls of a classroom. With real-life business scenarios, the competition evaluates the students as they generate profitable and sustainable business solutions.

The event started on Friday 12th April and culminated on Sunday 14th April. A total of 12 teams from different universities participated and engaged in rigorous learning. The cut-throat competition kick-started with participants being given industry challenges with gruelling case studies to crack.

Brainstorming, problem-solving, real-time simulations and case presentations formed the core of this competition.

KSBL invited some highly esteemed professionals from different organisations to be the judges.

 

Their expertise in relevant fields and exposure to the corporate world helped in the impeccable evaluation of students.

A whopping reward of PKR 150,000 was awarded to the top three winning teams.

A Night of Hilarity with Karachi Vynz and musical evening with Asim Azhar

In order to keep the students entertained, SiMERGE invited Karachi Vynz on day 1 and the popular YouTubers kept the crowd roaring with laughter all night long.

But it was with Kashmir the Band and Asim Azhar’s concert on Day 2 that the audience was left mesmerised. Their power-packed performances took the night to a scintillating musical high.

Yet another examination paper got leaked in Karachi.

According to local media, the Higher School Certificate (HSC) exam of Math subject went viral on social media just 40 minutes before the commencement of the examination.

It is to be noted that this is the fifth incident that has been reported of an exam getting leaked before it began.

Private Schools Fee for Summer Vacations Barred by SHC

The Sindh High Court (SHC) has barred private schools from charging summer vacation fees from parents in advance.

A notification was issued in this regards by SHC on Monday in which the authority has strictly warned schools about receiving the advanced fees.

On the other hand, parents have been asked to submit the receipt with the court in case of non-compliance.

“Supreme Court had refunded one-month fees last year. What’s the reason to collect charges this year against the court’s order?” the court questioned.

The administration was also warned of contempt charges if any school was to get caught ignoring the court’s orders.

On 8th April, the high court passed a verdict that private schools will not charge more than one month’s fee from students and showed resentment on the ‘extortion’ of two to three months’ payment in advance.

Justice Aqeel Abbasi shared, “You people are even ahead of the tax department. Don’t violate the court’s orders. We are now handling the issue leniently, don’t force us to come harder at you.”

“Do you pay three months’ salaries in advance to the teachers?” the bench questioned. “You are paying Rs. 25,000 (to teachers) while getting a signed Rs. 50,000 receipt,” the judge remarked.

Internet Explorer Security Flow Exposes Personal Files to Hackers!

Microsoft’s Internet Explorer has always had a reputation when it comes to security, however, just having it in your system can now cause hackers to steal your data.

Security researcher John Page revealed that hackers can use the unpatched exploit in the web browser’s handling of MHT files to spy on users and steal their personal data.

Users do not even have to open and access the browser for this breach to take place as Windows opens MHT files using IE by default.

The security flaw is for Windows 7, Windows 10 and Windows Server 2012 R2 users.

Moreover, Page shared details of the exploit after Microsoft reportedly declined to roll out an urgent security fix claiming one will be ‘considered’ in the future.

Samsung has highlighted that the price which Apple has set for iPhone repairs is absurd and over-hyped.

This news came out as Samsung announced the official repair prices for the Galaxy S10 range.

The repair costs for iPhone’s screen is comparatively higher than Samsung’s range, which does not add-up as Apple uses cheaper LCD technology compared to Samsung which uses OLED.

• XR – $199
• XS – $279
• XS Max – $329

Apple counts the glass back damage under ‘‘Other Damage’. Here’s what Apple charges:

  • S10 Plus – $99

Although Apple customers have the option to go for AppleCare+ insurance, it still does not justify the cost. The insurance plan costs $250 and an extra surcharge of $100 which brings the total cost to approximately $350, while Samsung is charging just $99.

We have yet to see how Apple handles the pressure as it will have to submit to the Right to Repair legislation. Previously, the brand had actively lobbied against it. Let’s see how the tech titan responds.
