6 Squid Game Mistakes That Will Make You Re-Watch The Show

While there are numerous amazing South Korean dramas of every genre, Squid Game got lucky partly because of its plot and partly because of the platform it was on. Given that the show was a Netflix original, everyone with access to the platform could watch it. With that, the show became a global hit only a few days after its launch. But did you know there were some major mistakes in the show that when you know about them you’d want to watch it again?

1. The numbers were wrong

All the 456 participants thrown in the gaming arena wake up with a green tracksuit. Each suit has a number on it showing the position of each player in the sequence. Aside from the old man (Oh Il Nam) with 001 and Seong Gi Hun, 456, the only numbers you will see with consistency are of the other main characters. The rest who were the extras in the show, for whatever reason, got replaced, which built up inconsistency. And people spotted that.

In one instance, there is a female player with the number 061. But when they show the elimination of player 061, it is a picture of a guy on the floor panel. The error repeats for three more players – 088, 321, and 331.

2. Spelling mistake

It seems that the obsession with the English language is not just a Pakistani issue. South Korea, even though has Korean as its official language, when showing confidential documents in a drama, they just have to show English words on it.

Squid Game also did that. When the detective sneaked into the arena, he starts looking up information. This is how he ends up in the file room where when skimming through the papers, they show a major mistake. As is common with almost all shows, to show confidentiality, the document is marked with a huge red stamp. In the Netflix season, it does that with a wrong spelling; SECRET became SCRERT!

3. One Participant was 124 years old

Another major mistake, we find that the drama creators made a participant be 124 years old. Let’s get into the details, shall we?

The participant, 013, gets his time in the spotlight in game number 5. When hopping onto the glass through his own technique of determining false panels, the Front Man decides to look at his file. From the file, he finds out that 013 worked at a glass factory for many years. Zooming in on the DOB, however, may send you on a laughter spree. The date of birth written there is 1897, making the player 124 years old.

4. The umbrella shape

In the game with the sugar tablets, you’d remember that there were different shapes. Players had to carve the shapes out. One of these shapes was an umbrella. While there couldn’t be many renditions of the other shapes (circle, triangle, star), the umbrella could. And this is what happened with Gi Hun.

When the game starts, the umbrella has a straight line below the dome shape. But a few moments in, the umbrella changes to point curves.

5. When Gi Hun was supposed to get richer

With KRW 45.6 billion in his pocket (or a few million less given how he changed colours and donated some money to Sang Woo’s mom), he should have been shown to get richer. Instead, he had a downgraded phone. Apparently, some nitpickers found out that before the game Gi Hun had Samsung S7. But in the airport scene, he had Samsung S3.

6. The protagonist eats air

Most often in the shows, the actors only pretend to eat or drink. If you notice closely, you would see (especially, in Pakistani dramas) that actors have empty cups when having tea. But in Squid Game, even though there is actual food in front of the actors, Gi Hun pretends to eat. They are able to figure it out because Gi Hun is shown munching and yet the food is untouched.

Ehsan Saya, Managing Director – Daraz Pakistan, said, “During inflation at its highest ever peak in Pakistan, Daraz single handedly reduced the uptake in prices by providing discounts and offers on an assortment of millions during the 11.11 sale. We hope to keep providing ease to our customers in the future and live up to our purpose of uplifting communities through the power of commerce.”

As per sources, 32,000 sellers from 100+ cities excluding Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad participated in the campaign and resulted in Daraz exceeding its daily order target by 3.6X and from all the orders placed on 11^th November, 1/3^rd are already on their way to happy customers.

Mr. Saya added, “our core focus for the last 12 months has been customer experience and selling quality products to our customers. This overwhelming response is a testament that when you put your customer first, they reciprocate that trust. During this 11.11, we acquired 4X new customers versus the campaign last year.”

Daraz has been an active player in contributing to Pakistan’s digital economy and has also always encouraged digital payments. During the 11.11 sale, Daraz recorded almost 50% of its customer spend on prepaid payment solutions and partnered with multiple banks and gateways to ensure a seamless digital payment experience for its customers.

Unpredictability is the forte of Pakistani dramas. At times, you get the entire package, and at times, you get a problematic storyline. For instance, in 2019, we saw a Pakistani drama, Ishq Zah e Naseeb which had an amazing cast, good acting, well-developed characters, and a great OST too. At the same time, the industry is also capable of producing Mere Paas Tum Ho which may have a great OST but the story was controversial. Moral? Never judge a book by its cover.

But how about, we rate the cover for today? Let’s look at the Pakistani drama OSTs of 2021 that struck a chord with you.

1. Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thy

Mahira Khan starrer, Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thy is a Pakistani drama we were looking forward to. It is based on a novel that did not show Mashal fighting with Mehreen for a guy. She makes it clear that she is not fighting for Aswad. In the drama, however, on her last day, Mashal is seen looking at Aswad’s picture longingly. They may have tried to keep the story intact but these subtle cues make Hum Kahan Kay Sachay Thy another of the run of the mill Pakistani dramas with two girls fighting over a man.

That said, Yashal Shahid did a great job for sure. Ever since its release, we have been humming the song all day long.

2. Shehnai

After Ishqiya, Shehnai is another song by Asim Azhar that has us in a trance. The song perfectly blends with the genre of the show, which is comedy. It is rare to find comedy-themed dramas that are not telefilms or Ramadan specials in the Pakistani drama industry. A new concept, ARY Digital did give its best attempt because the drama started out great. Midway, it started dragging. However, even now, if someone plays the ‘Hum Tu Hare Sub Tere Hi Agey‘ we sing with all our might, ‘Thay Dewane Teri Adaa Pe Youn‘

3. Khuda Aur Mohabbat Season 3

Two seasons under its belt, the name, Khuda Aur Mohabbat gets another story. Starring Iqra Aziz and Feroze Khan, two iconic actors, the drama is sure to be a masterpiece. Although, those who have followed it are not that excited the OST has won our hearts most definitely. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is already a star who has transcended boundaries but Nish Asher also gave a performance that people will remember for years.

4. Azmaish

We have already spoken too much about Azmaish and our reservations about it. But Nimra Mehra and Rizwan Anwer have sung a song that brought us back to the drama every time the story made us quit.

5. Pardes

Sarmad Khoosat, a director who has a great track record, and Shaista Lodhi, the renowned morning show host; the two unite for Pardes. Amanat Ali and Sithi Saha sang the OST for Pardes that resonated with a number of families because of the idea in the story. It is based on people who go abroad and do hard labor to give a better lifestyle to their families.

6. Fitoor

Another 2021 Pakistani drama goes by the name of Fitoor. Shani Arshad and Aima Baig led their melodious voices for the creation of the song. Given how great of a singer Aima Baig is, it does not come as a surprise that the OST made it to this list.

7. Raqs e Bismil

Vicky Akbar gives the voice to a story that is different from the other stories. Of course, it has elements that show a man’s toxic love that continues because he finds himself to be genuine and continues to pursue the girl no matter how much she says no. But the OST was good enough to be on the list.

foodpanda Launches Pilot Project For Food Delivery By ‘Pandafly’ Drones

Islamabad, November 12, 2021: foodpanda, Pakistan’s leading food delivery company, and also the country’s leading e-commerce platform overall, today launched a pilot project to test food delivery through a customized drone. Conducted in association with the office of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, the test flight of the drone, named pandafly, took place in the F-9 Park Islamabad. A food package weighing approximately 2.5 kgs was taken from a restaurant at one end of the park by a foodpanda rider and loaded into the drone’s storage bag. The drone then delivered the package at the other end of the park, where it was collected by another rider and distributed to children invited from Sweet Homes for the occasion.

The use of disruptive technology by foodpanda in the future will mean faster deliveries over longer distances. The last mile of delivery by drone will be completed by a foodpanda rider. Also to be noted is that this is the first of its kind commercial drone made in Pakistan for this purpose and foodpanda is thus supporting development of local technology.

Speaking on the pilot launch occasion, Nauman Sikandar Mirza, the CEO of foodpanda stated, “foodpanda’s core ethos is to constantly innovate, stretch the limits and leverage technology to find great solutions for meeting the evolving needs of the people. Before we start actual drone deliveries for our customers, there are still many aspects that need to be thoroughly evaluated and locked in, including technical, operational and legal matters and we are vigorously addressing all these. The successful test flight and delivery today has been highly encouraging and proves we are on the right flight path!”

The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat and his office collaborated closely with foodpanda for the pilot project and the DC was also the Chief Guest at the launch event. Expressing his views, he said, “e-commerce and the use of technology to serve the citizens is definitely the future, and the Islamabad civil administration stands committed to support anyone who takes the initiative to provide greater convenience and facilities for the public. We wish foodpanda all the best in now turning this pilot project into a regular operational service.

People expressed their disappointment over the unusual pan and brownie dish, while many even accused the cook of preparing it. A large number of people expressed displeasure at seeing that they ruined both brownies and paan for them.

In the viral video published on Twitter, a person is seen preparing a bizarre pan. The video opens to show a piece of chocolate brownie kept on a heated plate on top of which he drizzles some amount of chocolate sauce. Then he adds a scoop of vanilla ice cream, another layer of chocolate sauce, and finally a paan twist.

While the weird creation did look aesthetically appealing, Twitter users could not understand the need to innovate the dish in the first place. Several people thought that the combination of Paan and chocolate was indeed a bad idea. Others wondered why such innovations were found mainly in Gujarat only.

The post mostly left netizens unsure of the combination, with some even accusing the makers of ruining both brownies and paan for them. Nevertheless, there did seem to be a few takers for the unique treat. One person pointed out that they have seen worse combos like Oreo Pakodas.

A New Virus Spreading In Karachi? Here’s What You Need To Know

A Mysterious Virus Spreading In Karachi Is Causing Dengue-Like Symptoms — Image source: dawn.com

According to clinicians and pathologists, several ‘mysterious viral fever’ cases are being witnessed in Karachi. The symptoms behave precisely like the dengue virus. Reduced platelets and white blood cell count in patients is reported. However, when tested for dengue, the result comes out to be negative.

A New Infection On The Rise?

Several physicians and hemato-pathologists from different hospitals of the city have confirmed the incidence. According to them, the dengue virus-like pathogen is circulating in Karachi. This pathogen is causing a disease that is acting similar to dengue fever and requires the same treatment protocols, but it is not dengue fever.

“For a couple of weeks, we are seeing cases of a viral fever. While the patients platelets and white blood cells are dropping, other clinical symptoms are also similar to the dengue fever. But when NS1 antigen of these patients is performed, their tests come out to be negative,” Prof Saeed Khan, head of molecular pathology at the Dow University of Health Sciences, said.

In light of the current dengue and the mysterious virus situation in the city, the hospitals and blood banks across Karachi face an acute shortage of mega units and random units of platelets. Clinicians are now advising people to take precautionary measures to prevent vector-borne diseases like dengue fever and malaria.

According to Prof Khan, it could be another virus from the family of ‘Arboviruses’, causing diseases like dengue fever. “We have even performed the PCR test to see if it is dengue virus but it is not the dengue virus. It is not Zika virus because Zika virus behaves differently. There is also little chances of this virus being any unknown variant of the dengue virus,”

Doctors Statements

Dr. Zeeshan Hussain, a senior hemato-pathologist associated with a public sector health facility, said that fortunately, the mysterious viral fever resembling dengue had so far not resulted in any death. He added that they were treating patients infected with this virus as if they had contracted dengue.

“So far, this virus has not caused haemorrhagic fever by reducing platelets of a patient where bleeding starts. Most of the patients infected with this unknown virus are responding to conventional treatment,” Dr Hussain added.

Haematologist and physician Dr Saqib Ansari says that the phenome of patients having dengue-like symptoms and not testing positive is not new. We have seen multiple cases in this regard ever since 2008. However, more research needs to be done before coming to any conclusion.

“I have seen cases where patients were dropping platelets. However, their SGPT was on the rise and they had classic symptoms of dengue fever but their dengue test came out negative. There is a possibility that false-negative results are being reported. So, there is a need for more research in this regard,” Dr Ansari said.

While the brands can’t have complete ads playing in between overs, they are able to sneak in a quick glance of it in a few seconds. Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani Nobel Laureate, and girls education activist recently tied the knot in a small, humble yet gorgeous ceremony. Her husband, Asser Malik, since then has made several headlines because the world wants to know who the famous personality married. Now Malala opened up about her marriage and partnership with Asser Malik and here are all the details!

How Did They Meet?

The two have known each other for three years now. It was the summer of 2018 that Asser Malik was visiting his friends at Oxford and their paths crossed! Malala said since he worked in cricket, she immediately found a lot to discuss with him. Asser Malik couldn’t resist Malala’s humour and charm and so, their friendship developed.

The two realised they had common values and really enjoyed each other’s company! Malala’s recount of her friendship is more than heart-warming as she says “We stood by each other in moments of happiness and disappointment.” She attributes his help in her moments of life’s ups and downs and believes she also acted as his pillar. However, the funniest thing which made us realise Malala is a lot like us is when she shared this. Malala sent him a link to their horoscope compatibility to give him signals!

The Wedding Preps

It’ll come as a surprise but Malala’s wedding outfit was sourced from Lahore, Pakistan! Her gorgeous jewellery was provided by Asser’s mother and sister. As always, desi dads can’t handle the food and so, her father booked the food and decorations. Her assistants were in charge of organising the photographers and the make-up artist (and we have to admit we want their numbers).

Her best girlfriends from school and Oxford took leaves from their occupations and reached the wedding house! The best part is also how Malala put mehndi on her own hands and discovered she was a pro at it. The day before the wedding, the couple spent several hours in the mall to buy Asser’s pink tie and pocket square and Malala’s sandals.

Malala’s Contention With Marriage

Her remark that she doesn’t understand why people have to get married has been misconstrued. Malala clarifies her stance and suggests that marriage has been a scary and repelling institution in her eyes since childhood. She recalls how many girls she grew up with either got married against their wish or got married when all else failed.

Imagine seeing your friends of 14 years of age be pregnant! Malala had an issue with how marriage is seen as servitude in our community and thus, the remark. However, her partnership with Asser Malik has taught her marriage can be beautiful.

A1 Esports: A1 comes in as one of the finest and tactically fine-tuned team from Bangladesh that has a lot of PMPL exposure and is a sure shot contender for the title.

The tournament is divided into 2 phases: League Days and Finals. The 20 squads will play league stage from 9th-12th November and the top 16 squads will play the finals on 13th & 14th November. The finals will have a total of 10 matches played across a span of 2 days. Points for the leaderboard will be plotted using the standard point distribution system.

The winner will take home prize money of $40,000 and the top 4 squads will advance to the PUBG MOBILE Global Championship, which is the biggest stage for competitive PUBG MOBILE that attracts millions of viewers across the globe to see top teams compete with all their might.

As the official smartphone partner of PUBG MOBILE Esports in the Middle East & Africa regions in 2021, OPPO will play an active part in bringing an exceptionally immersive and fluid gaming experience to the region’s gaming enthusiasts.
