Brand Wars: Pepsi Zero Sugar Takes A Dig At Coke Zero

Brand Wars: Pepsi Zero Sugar Takes A Dig At Coke Zero

Coca-Cola and Pepsi are at it once again with their latest marketing strategies in today’s episode of brand wars. Pepsi is calling out Coca-Cola in hopes of getting the loyal Coke customers under their spell.

Coca-Cola Zero Revolutionised

Coca-Cola zero has been through significant changes ever since it was released, from rebranding to new marketing strategies in hopes of getting Coke zero the fame it deserves. However, a few months ago, the plan backfired when Coca-Cola came out with a new version of Coca-Cola Zero which didn’t seem to sit best with the netizens. As a result, Coca-Cola launched a campaign under the name of Try It First to lower the judgment and speculations of people around it.

How It All Started?

A few weeks ago, Coca-Cola released a campaign to promote the latest reimagined Coca-Cola Zero. The newest version of Zero has been given a look and the feel of a classic coke. The newest version hit the shelves in July with not just refreshed taste but also improvised packaging. The marketing campaign for the Coca-Cola Zero launch consisted of three different advertisements. However, the game started when Coca-Cola asked their fans this question.

Is this the “Best Coke Ever?”

In response to the question, they also answered in a classic call-to-action manner.

“You need to try it first.”

Pepsi Takes A Dig On Coke-Zero

There is no doubt that both Pepsi and Coke have a fan base of their own. No one is unaware of the digs both brands have taken on each other now and then, to cash more loyal customers. However, this time Pepsi is taking its most undue turn to call out Coca-Cola once again after the launch of its latest version of Coke Zero. They even asked the customers to get reimbursed if they are not satisfied with the taste. The shade is real, and everyone is looking out for it.

Pepsi even moved on to openly announce the hashtag #MyCokeBreakUp and asked the customers to switch to Pepsi once and for all. Adding that if they are disappointed with their sugar-free version, they can get their payments reimbursed upon showing proof.

Needless to say that the drama is becoming too much now; clearly, Pepsi has taken a simple question to heart.

In an upcoming football game, PepsiCo is an official NFL sponsor for the series. The announcement made by Pepsi said that much of its marketing would revolve around the Pepsi zero version. Pepsi is all set to make the most of this dama as it ramps up its adversarial messaging against its chief competitor.

The world is evolving at a fast pace and everyone wants to keep a smartphone. If we take a look at smartphones prices today, one can easily find phones in the budget range of PKR 30,000 or PKR 20,000. In that very light, Xiaomi launched their smartphone range. However, they have evolved quite a lot ever since and moved towards mid-range smartphones too. Now, it seems they are getting rid of the ‘Mi’ branding.

It is not that they will stop producing phones. The difference is that the company will no longer use the word ‘Mi’ with their products. This news came to light as a rumour some time ago, when Xiaomi released the Pad 5 and Mix 4. What was interesting to note was that the company did not use ‘Mi’ with this product. This led people to believe that the company was going to shelve the name and use products with just their own name.

Mi Branding Long Standing

As far back as we can remember, the Mi branding has come with a huge range of smartphones. The name ‘Mi’ itself was one of the outstanding features of the brand. It even had its own logo and colour coding. You saw orange on any billboard, and you immediately knew what it was.

Apart from this, Xiaomi’s General Manager for the Nordic Region, also said that all the stores will be called ‘Xiaomi Stores’. This transition is also going to take place on the online ‘Mi’ store. Soon, any newly launching product will no longer be under the banner of ‘Mi’.

Innovative Names

According to the official source, this change is going to unify the brand globally. People often used to think of the two as entirely different, despite being closely connected. Now, everyone will know Xiaomi to be just the one brand with products. Xiaomi products offer a more premium experience whereas Redmi products offer a pocket-friendly one. With the branding removed, both of these are just under a single name now.

Hugo Boss has landed very close to home and yes, we’re talking about none other than Centaurus Mall. The luxury brand for menswear and accessories has opened its doors to Pakistanis in the luxe mall in Islamabad. Here’s all you need to know:

The New Fancy Store

This German luxury fashion house welcomed Pakistanis in Centaurus Mall on 23rd August on the third floor of the multi-storeyed mall. The shop currently sells clothing, accessories, footwear, and fragrances. Since BOSS is most widely known for its suits, the shop also offers bespoke suit-making services.

Hugo Boss is one of the largest German clothing companies in the world. Their global sales count was as much as €2.9 billion in 2019. Hence, their coming to Pakistan is a huge deal because it puts us on the international fashion map. Moreover, it could not have been easy. Such brands require such an incredible investment thus, whoever brought it must really believe in it.

Netizens Reactions

People are more than elated to see a new international brand open its doors on Pakistani soil. It has been ages since we said hello to a new one. Moreover, our malls are sadly full of the same local shops we have been visiting since childhood! This will generate greater visits to Centaurus for sure.

The initiative is largely being appreciated by the locals. Hashtags like #TheBossHasLanded and #HugoBoss also became top trends on Twitter.

Hugo Boss’ Strategy

The initiative of Boss to open the outlet in Pakistan is part of a greater scheme by the luxury brand. It seems to be a consequence of Hugo Boss’s ultimate plan to attract younger shoppers to the German fashion chain. It is believed that while older demographics have greater spending, the young shoppers are more impulsive buyers. Thus, in order to generate and double their sales to 4 billion euros ($4.74 billion) by 2025, Boss is going to new countries.

Chief Executive Officer Daniel Grieder, a former Tommy Hilfiger executive, joined the chain in June. He shared that he also wants to sell more via third parties i.e. through wholesale distribution. While Grieder said collaborations with other brands and celebrity endorsements are being considered to increase the brand’s reach, opening a new branch is also doing the magic.

Hopefully, we’ll see HM or Zara soon enough!

“My husband is not my child but my partner,” Say Nadia Hussain

Nadia Khan shared her point of view when it comes to doing her husband’s duties. After the Sadaf Kanwal fiasco, there’s finally someone talking sense on live television. Here’s what the actress said with her husband sitting next to her:

Sadaf Kanwal’s Benchmark

Funnily enough, the same woman who was interviewing Sadaf Kanwal when she made those controversial statements, was also interviewing Nadia Hussain. Sadaf Kanwal previously set the standard very low on this topic. Her infamous dialogue was that she should know where her husband’s shoes, clothes are. She should also iron them for him. However, he must not know these things about her or do those for her.

Now, when the same question is asked Nadia Hussain, her answer is like a gust of fresh air.

Nadia Hussain Gets Honest

The interviewer asks Nadia Hussain that, “Do you think it is a farz of women to do their husband’s work? Do you do his work?” To which Nadia Hussain honestly replied, “No, why should I do his work? He’s my husband, my life partner, not my child.”

This sets the standard for what she had to say beyond this and immediately shows her stance— it’s anything but what our toxic society feeds us.

Raised The Wrong Way

The interviewer then asks Nadia Hussain a very important question. She explains how men in our society are raised in a particular way. It’s the mother always cooking for them and doing their work. The sister is asked to compromise for her brother repeatedly. The male is basically prioritised and pampered since birth. “Do you think that’s right?”, the interviewer asks Nadia Hussain.

To which Nadia Hussain simply said, “I believe that is wrong and I’m not raising my children that way.” Though being from an elite family her children might have many of their needs met, it is great to know that the change we seek is underway. Perhaps the coming generation will be different!

Should A Wife Not Serve Her Husband At All?

The interviewer also asked that what if a husband asks his wife to get him water or food? It is here that Nadia Hussain clarified that asking to do something is not the same as expecting the other to do something. In our society, it is believed that women must spend their lives serving their husbands. That, without a doubt, is wrong, unacceptable, and must be fought against.

An Interview With Izzat Majeed: The Mastermind Behind Sachal Studios

Izzat Majeed is not just the founder of an exceptional ensemble called Sachal Studios but he is also the man responsible for a resurrection of Pakistan’s Classical music genre.

In fact, the veteran took his patronage of classical music a step further by incorporating his unparalleled liking for Jazz into the works produced by Sachal Studios. Hence, he created an offshoot of Sachal Jazz Ensemble that has been earning Pakistan a reputable place in the musical front worldwide. It has also introduced a unique fusion concept of Jazz and local classical music.

Much of Izzat Majeed’s early life was spent in Lahore that was nothing short of a cultural hub. Therefore, the degeneration of the local artistic culture had left him deeply shaken. This served as his primary motivation to become the savior of Pakistani music through Sachal Studios.

In an interview with Brandsynario Izzat Majeed talked about the various aspects of his musical mastermind.

Of course, the foundation of Sachal Studios and its development was no piece of cake. However, the humble musician claims himself very fortunate in this regard and describes his passionate journey with sheer love.

We were very lucky. Considering we are an Abbey Road Studio, those guys came to Pakistan bringing their machinery. Then 6 months later they came again, to make sure everything is fine. This is the best set-up.

Even more amazing is the story of jazz’s revival in Pakistan via Sachal Studios. Till date, the platform is working hard on its mission and surely has been victorious.

One thing to be noted is the stark difference between classical work of Sachal Studios and that being produced commercially. However, Izzat is not satisfied with the work being done in the music industry.

No – I do not understand what they are doing. I’m sure they also do not understand what we are doing.

You will fall in utter fondness of Jazz, once you hear Izzat talk about it! He vehemently describes the genre, making it clear that the jive is part of his soul

I’ll tell you something, Jazz is the basic frontal in Pakistan and India – there is one basic structure. Even if you leave out the raag, that itself and Jazz itself is the same.  So you play Jazz, pump it in and then play around with it any way you want. Raag is the same.

It is commendable that the work of Sachal Studios has traveled far and wide, receiving international acclaim. Even Hollywood actress, Meryl Streep could not stop herself from swaying and enjoying the performance of Sachal group.

A few weeks back, Sachal’s rendition of Game of Thrones title track went viral. It was adored so much that publications worldwide lauded the harmony and paid their tribute to Izzat Majeed’s brainchild.

Izzat surely loves his family and believes that together they have achieved their aim.

Absolutely. I am very fond of my musicians. They’re good people and they’re good musicians. So they come in and they know exactly what to do and make us proud.

Negative Outcomes Of Online Classes On Children During Lockdown

The Case Of Online Classes During The Pandemic

Ali is a promising student and reads in class 3. A few days ago, the light went out during his online exams. His parents always keep a backup option to not hinder his online classes, but unfortunately, he could not connect to the 3G internet that day. Ali was at his wit’s end. At that moment, the idea of seeking help from neighbors came to his mother’s mind. The rest of the problems were solved by connecting to the internet. However, his teacher had reduced the marks because the camera had been off for a long time.

Nowadays, this story is of every household. No matter how intelligent and promising the child is, he/she is not able to gain good marks. As a result, children as well as their parents are getting fed up with online classes.

Online Exams

Even if we look at exams, they are also not being conducted as transparently as they should, no matter how hard schools try. It is also seen that some students’ parents constantly help their children during exams. Meanwhile, numerous other students use Google and textbooks. Doesn’t this kill the entire purpose of exams?

Read More: 5 Online Courses Everyone Should Take After Undergraduate Degree

Moreover, most of Pakistan’s population lives in areas where there are network connectivity problems. They also have to experience issues regarding charging electronic devices or solve problems rising from joint family settings. All of this, combined, brings students learning process to an end.

Five Benefits Why Students Should Consider Studying Abroad
Source: Pinterest

Impact of School environment on kids

A school environment is something that gives the child a sense of self-discipline and motivation. Going to school gives children a special kind of agility; interacting with their peers prepares them for society. But all that is lost, with students taking online classes from the comfort of their beds, and of course, without their uniforms.

Non-productivity in young children

It is also seen that most pre-primary children (age 2.5 to 5 years) who do not even know how to speak properly, are put in front of computers like robots. They don’t focus on the teacher. Moreover, E-learning limits the feedback of students as most of them don’t reply immediately. Their critical thinking ability, as a result, gets affected. Children of this age mostly learn through purposeful activities but after this digitalization, children’s physical activities are compromised.

The Future of The Youth Is At Risk

Physical classes have not been conducted for the past 1.5 years and students are getting directly promoted to higher grades. This is certainly not the best option because it directly affects the competence of the student. Is this how we want our education system to be? How will good doctors, engineers, or any other professional come out of such a system?

Responsibilities of teachers are being increased

This pandemic has changed the role of teachers. Their responsibilities have been increased as they have to prepare a proper lecture in the form of slides before delivering a class. The government needs to initiate policies to train teachers so that they are able to teach students effectively. Moreover, the schools are not open five days a week so the teachers have to fulfill their dual responsibility and have to give lectures twice which is also difficult.

teachers
PC: Pakistan Today

In a Nutshell

There are a lot of negative effects of E-learning. Schools are periodically closed during increasing cases of COVID-19. If we talk about young kids, they cannot be motivated without appropriate appreciation as they would be in traditional classrooms. In online schooling, it is almost impossible to have positive interactions, hence, students will not be able to excel at the same patten. Lack of communication between students and their classmates also leads to anxiety, loneliness, and several mental health issues.

According to UNICEF, 463 million children globally were unable to attend schools. In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), more than 5 million school-going children have been affected out of which only a small percentage of students can manage online education facilities. Let’s hope that all of us remain extra vigilant in observing SOPs, so that life can return to a routine so that children are able to continue the momentum of their studies.

7 Restaurants Overseas Pakistanis Must Visit When in Karachi

8. Dosa

Dosa

Dosas can be found at quite a few places in Karachi. The crispy flatbread filled with spicy potatoes, when dipped in coconut curry and chutney makes us giddy with delight. While Bombay Chowpatti offers dosa, the place is not consistent with the food quality. The little van outside Tooso, on the other hand, has never disappointed us.

9. Samosas and Jalebi

samosa

Evenings with samosas, jalebi, and namak paray, of course, are the best ways to wind up a crazy weekday. With Ramadan coming soon, now’s your chance to enjoy some while you can still manage to find them.

10. Chai and Paratha

chai patti

When all else fails, head to the nearest chai ka dhaba and mull life over a plate of paratha and chai. You’ll be done in under Rs. 100 and still have a smile on your face. If you’re looking for one place, in particular, we recommend the Alamgir Hotel. Their parathas will make you the happiest person alive.

There is no lack of new vehicle entries in Pakistan anymore. The days of limited brands are gone from this place. Where we used to think there was only a handful, brands like Changan and Chery are coming. Some of the vehicles have become highly popular in the country and we are expecting many more to take the same path. Despite there being so much competition, each brand and vehicle is getting the appropriate time in the spotlight. Now, two Chery Tiggo models have arrived in Pakistan.

According to a report that was released, two Chery Tiggo vehicles have arrived in Pakistan for testing. They also stand as proof that Pakistan is not lagging too far behind in the automobile industry. The Chinese company, Chery, has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Ghandhara Nissan Limited to produce vehicles. This way, Chery can establish a better standing in the local market.

This Chili Mili Fan Has A Serious Complain & Miftah Ismail Has A Solution

Chili Mili fans should not be doubted when it comes to their love. An honest representation of that is this exchange between a Chili Mili lover and the manufacturer of Chili Mili. The exchange has gone viral and for good reason, it’s simply epic!

The Complaint Against Chili Mili

A person on Twitter by the name of Usama Lali wanted to sort something out. “Why is Chili Mili no longer juicy?” His main issue is why the jelly is manufactured nowadays to be so dry and rubber-like. The guy should definitely pursue stand-up comedy because the “Chili Mili dry fruit” had us rolling on the floor. Jokes aside, how true is it?

Chili Mili nowadays has become like a raisin in appearance and also taste. Anyhow, one of us had the courage to finally voice this. It’s people like him who change the world. What do you know? He has changed the world of Chili Mili lovers.

The Solution

This complaint was taken up by none other than senior politician Miftah Ismail. Ismail was the former General Secretary PMLN Sindh. Miftah Ismail has recently, resigned over the difference with provincial leadership of the party.

However, what you might not know is that he also owns CandyLand Pakistan, the company that manufactures Chili Mili! Ismail’s family business is Ismail Industries Limited and CandyLand Pakistan is a division of that business. There you have it, the owner of Chili Mili has stepped in.

Miftah Ismail said that he will personally ask the manufacturers to make Chili Mili more juicy, delicious and just like how it used to be. However, there is a small condition. We must vote for PMLN in the next elections! Miftah Ismail proved that he is a senior politician with this exchange after all. The UNO reverse card was legendary.

The Childhood Memories

Jellies like Chili Mili made our childhood. There have been so many more Pakistani manufactured jellies and toffees that we grew on that are no longer the same, unfortunately. We remember the time jubilee tasted better than any imported chocolate. The gummy bears jelly also used to be amazing with so many of the red ones inside the packet (the best ones).

Moreover, as Usama mentioned, Chili Mili used to be juicy. Besides this, Fruitella was the star of the show. Though it still tastes great at times, it doesn’t have that addictive quality anymore. We hope all these jellies and toffies can be revived and brought back— there’s nothing like them.

Coca-Cola’s Smart Can Packaging Move Is Definitely Impressive!

Coca-Cola has introduced a new smart way to package their cans and we couldn’t be more glad. After years and years of roasts and a pandemic, it seems they have finally knocked some sense into their packaging head (is there any?). Here’s what they’ve done:

The Cans Come Sealed Now

Now the cans come sealed! People are sharing this picture of the new Coca-Cola cans packaging and people were crazy over it. The cans have a seal on top of their rim which can be peeled back to reveal the rim. Unfortunately, this appears to be in a Middle Eastern company for now.

This is how the long-awaited-for packaging looks in real life:

What Does This Do?

Have you ever been shamed by family or friends for drinking straight from the can when you ordered a fizzy drink? However, at the moment we undermine or rather ignore the health hazard and the fact that they are right. Most places serve cans and there’s no better way to enjoy the drink than have it straight from the can.

However, why had Coca-Cola not thought about this all this time? That the top of cans can be covered! With the top being covered, essentially, the place where you drink it from is clean. This means you will not be consuming the germs of whoever held the cans or wherever they stored them.

Has The Pandemic Prompted This?

The pandemic has taught us many lessons on cleanliness and protection from germs. Could it be that this packaging which has finally come about is due to the pandemic? Though there hasn’t been any report on the transmission of coronavirus through ingestion, many refuse to get bottles now. It means they can come with the germ on it which you can get on your hands.

Though this new packaging will protect many from ingesting germs, we doubt it’ll do anything to keep corona at bay.

When Will It Come To Pakistan?

So far, Coca-Cola Pakistan has been tagged and asked to look into this. If this has started in foreign countries, it may trickle down to us soon enough. We are just as excited as you to have this packaging come to us. No more roasts for you and a lot more coke cans!

Sarwat Gilani has found herself at the receiving end of major backlash since her stories have spread far and wide. In her stories, she is trying to make her cook, who is a Hindu, feel safe in her home in Pakistan by celebrating an event he holds close to her heart.

Celebrating Raksha Bandhan

Raksha Bandhan is an event that is celebrated by the Hindu community. Girls in the family tie a bracelet on the men whom they then call bhaiya. This event is for sisters to honour their brothers and celebrate them as their protectors. It appears Sarwat Gilani’s cook, Ghanaish, is a Hindu who has settled in Pakistan.

It is unclear whether he has his family here or not and so, why should he spend this day alone? Sarwat Gilani celebrated Raksha Bandhan with him and became his sister to make him feel that Pakistan is also his home.

Watch The Video Here

The Heartwarming Stuff

It is truly heartwarming to see the video. Sarwat Gilani’s own message is also that minorities should not feel left out or unable to celebrate their own events. Moreover, being happy in their happiness costs us nothing! It’s incredible to see the smile on the cook, Ganaish’s face as Sarwat Gilani celebrates Raksha Bandhan with him.

It’s also so funny when Sarwat Gilani speaks in Urdu over something and Ganaish corrects her with the Hindu terminology. “Janam o janam, it is!” Moreover, the two adorable munchkins on the side seeing everything will be learning a very important lesson.

Netizens Serve Backlash

Though Sarwat Gilani has majorly received intense backlash over her participation in this activity, there are many those who commend her also. The netizen brigade is worried this will start being promoted. Moreover, the hostility against the Hindu culture is also on the rise. Here’s what people say:

Promoting Interfaith Harmony

All in all, this was an event in which interfaith harmony was being promoted, nothing else! Politics should be kept aside when it comes to making Hindus feel safe in our country. After all, they are a minority here and most of the time, prefer to hide. Put yourself in their shoes!

Imagine being abroad in a non-Muslim country and it’s the time for Eid. Would you not appreciate someone participating in Eid with you? It’s just as simple as that. Just as celebrating Eid will not make them Muslim, this does not make Sarwat Gilani a Hindu.

Toyota Corolla Sales Top 50 Million Across The Globe

Toyota Corolla has made history as one of the most famous Sedans of the world has just crossed 50 million global sales, with Toyota Pakistan also playing a key role. The Toyota Corolla made its debut in November 1966 in Japan as a 1-litre compact 5-seater sedan, and within two years, doubled its annual production from 480,000 to 1.1 million vehicles. The introduction of the Toyota Corolla was a catalyst for mass car ownership in Japan, and the rest of Asia.

There was no looking back, and its sales grew from strength to strength over the past 55 years. Today the Toyota Corolla celebrates a spectacular global sales milestone of 50 million cars. This milestone underscores the robust confidence and belief in the Corolla’s build quality, reliability, safety and durability.

Toyota Corolla In Asia

Hundreds of thousands of motorists in Asia have enjoyed and appreciated the Toyota Corolla from its early genesis. For many, the Corolla has been a centrepiece in the building of “treasured memories”. A common sentiment from many Corolla owners, regardless of country or region, is that many choose to keep their Corolla or replace it with another Corolla.  There are many stories of Corolla fans owning multiple generations of the model since its 1966 launch. One customer from Mardan, Pakistan, Mr. Zeerak Khan owns various different generations of Corolla since 1967 and has been using it as a family car and also prefers to use it for work and long route traveling due to its reliability and comfort.

Towards Carbon Neutrality & Contributing To Sustainability

Toyota is very much committed to reducing the CO2 emissions. With this goal in mind, Corolla Cross was launched. Now, in response to changing lifestyles, Toyota has introduced the first hybrid SUV in the Corolla line-up to seamlessly satisfy diverse customer needs, with a full menu of advanced features in safety, performance, and comfort. The car has been exceptionally successful in the Pakistani market and performing well.

Based on the “Corolla Meets SUV” concept, the Corolla Cross signals the transition to a new era of changing consumer preferences. This new model was globally introduced in Thailand last year and Pakistan has also launched Corolla Cross in April 2021 which is the first and only hybrid crossover SUV, equipped with the latest fourth-generation Hybrid Powertrain Technology.

While its rich heritage and history have kept the Corolla grounded with the same values that it was founded on, Toyota looks ahead to pursue constant “kaizen”, or continuous improvement.

Do you have a Toyota Corolla story to share with us? Send a picture with your Corolla and a story to Toyota Pakistan official social media accounts.
