#Hopeforpakistan, Powered By P&G Pakistan, Motivates Change For A Promising Future For Underprivileged Women In Pakistan

P&G is committed to the cause of gender parity and continues to broaden economic opportunities for women in a sustainable and transformative manner. Recently, they announced the extension of their cooperation with long-term partner HOPE for $100,000, to reach out to more women in marginalized communities to ensure that women and girls have equitable access and opportunity. The main aim is to motivate change within the community for a promising future. This all stems from their promise for a world free from gender bias, with equal voice and equal representation for all individuals. A world where everyone sees equal.

According to the ‘Global Gender Gap Report 2021’ published by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Pakistan ranks 153rd out of 156 countries on the gender parity index and the overall literacy rate amongst girls in the country is only 47%. Another alarming fact in Pakistan is that only one percent of entrepreneurs are women. And that is because, women business owners face a myriad of challenges, ranging from legal barriers that prevent them from establishing a business, to lack of access to loans and financial know-how.

Strengthening the economic role of women is critical to reducing poverty, improving health and education outcomes for their future generations. This program came into being to support this kind of empowerment. With the setup of 7 vocational training centers, many women and girls in areas such as Badin, Sujawal, Thatta, Gadap, Ghagger, Muzaffargarh and soon Muzzaffarabad, learn skills that provide them with a chance to have a brighter future.

One such example of an empowered woman, coming out of this initiative, is Hakima Baloch. After suffering from a major tragedy in life when her husband passed away, she was paralyzed with acute financial crisis. ‘HOPE’ turned out to be a savior and taught her the ‘art of fishing’ – that is stitching – so that she can become independent and provide a livelihood for her family. As of now, Hakima leads a respectable and happy life by earning for herself. Not just that, she also bears the expenses of her children’s schooling.

Hakima Baloch isn’t the only success story. Over the last three years, P&G in collaboration with HOPE has trained 11,695+ women through 6 vocational training centers and provision of quality secondary education to women and girls in semi-urban and rural areas of the country.

#HopeforPakistan remains steadfast in its approach in making a positive impact by promoting equal representation and opportunities for all individuals. It takes a gigantic leap forward in spreading this initiative with established firms to make them utilize their resources to the fullest for those who need HELP.

Women constitute approximately half of the population in Pakistan. Giving Economic opportunities to women is undoubtedly a crucial step in achieving female empowerment in Pakistan. #HopeforPakistan is another step forward towards the fulfillment of the company’s aspiration to build a world with equal representation and an equal voice for women, at the workplace, in the communities, and in the country.

Karachi Zoo’s Treatment Of Rare White Lion – Where Are The Authorities?

Pakistan is especially a hell zone for animals as citizens not only brutally treat animals but also remain criminally negligent towards them. The latter are those who have a responsibility towards animals for whatever reason yet do not fulfil them. Most Pakistanis suffer from selective empathy which, as this recent case shows, has terrible consequences.

What Happened?

Karachi Zoo had a rare white lion who has just been announced dead. The lion’s body is clearly, without any doubt, look emaciated. What is even more horrifying are the scars on its body. The lion’s body has so many scars which people believe are whip marks— the zookeepers must have whipped them each time they came into contact with them.

Have A Look At His State:

What Is Being Known?

Many people are theorizing that the lion was literally starved to death because KMC had not given its payment. The food supply was barred. The other version says that the lion was suffering from tuberculosis and was critically ill for 2 weeks.

Nonetheless, the lion breathed his last yesterday. Even if the latter were true, the lion’s physical state does not lie to us. Look at their mane, look at their body and look at their scars— this was plain torture, negligence and irresponsibility.

Read more:

What Are People Doing?

People want accountability. Zoos are themselves a problematic concept: why must we cage living beings for our entertainment? Moreover, Pakistan has proved itself to be incapable of taking care of animals. The case of Kaavan was clear in this: his partner died of gangrene and then Kaavan was depressed alone. While he met a better fate, unfortunately, this lion could not.

Here’s what people are saying:

What Can Authorities Do?

Authorities must ideally abolish zoos. These cases of animal abuse have proved they are not sustainable in Pakistan. Realistically, they need to investigate honestly why the lion died. What are the scars?

However, even this seems like a hard-ask provided authorities keep dog culling despite organisations like ACF’s hard work, day and night. What can save this is hard, strict, and multiple laws that protect animals.

Explaining political scandals

Mufti Qavi

With regard to Mufti Qavi, she said that it started out as revenge. She had been fed up with his statements and actions on public platforms alleging that he had been in contact with Hareem with the help of secretaries to invite her to Islam. She even quoted the unprofessionalism of Mubashir Luqman who gave that platform to Muft where he could spew lies.

Photo with Imran Khan

With respect to her photo with Imran Khan, she said that it went viral and attracted criticism because she had her hand on the PM’s shoulder. Elaborating on it further, she said that the PM had only smiled when she clicked the picture. The reason, she felt, it went viral was because most others don’t get the chance to be up close with the Premier.

Fayyaz ul Hassan Chohan

He, it seems, has blocked Hareem Shah’s number.

Mubashir Luqman issue

In explaining how she has inside tea on everyone she revealed why Mubasshir Luqman got irritated. She alleges that he got angry because his plane was revealed, and he had gotten it from Malik Riaz.

Sheikh Rasheed

Hareem said that Sheikh Rasheed offered to give her his number. Well, well, well…

And even after leaked videos, he still talks to her.

The country’s future

To the question: who is the tharkiest of them all, Hareem said it was the politicians. How should one feel about the country’s future after knowing this, we will have to think about that a little.

Revelations about Hareem

  1. She is an M.Phil Student.
  2. Hareem is not her real name.
  3. Her first salary was PKR 600,000.

Body Worn Cameras – More Than Just Footage Producers

Image Source: iTecknologi Group of Companies

Digitization has taken the world by storm. It is indeed the new industrial revolution whereby big data accumulation, automation to reduce discrepancies, and building further efficiencies has become the mantra of every industry, every business segment. The onus is heavier on the service sector, where transparency builds trust in the processes and there is a constant competition on the ‘convenience’ and ‘speed’ fronts. Nevertheless, the private entities have been more accepting of these changes, however, there is still a lot to be desired, while the state of affairs of the public service providers paint a drastically different picture.

Law Enforcement Agencies constitute one such division of public services which in spite of their initiatives, hard work, devotion, and even plenty of sacrifices still face a whole plethora of challenges, topmost being their image in the eyes of the general public. There is a huge lack of trust on their capabilities, undying faith about their corruption and the rumor mill of the civilians also adds fuel to the fire. There are many challenges and issues which will not vanish overnight, but through technology implementation, the march towards that direction will begin.

In the service industry, where people are themselves the product and the harnessers of customer service and satisfaction, it is imperative that all client facing people are trained to truly represent the organization, product or brand. Even when this is done quite intricately, it has been observed that it is important to keep an eye on the service levels, the bedside manners, the soft skills, and hard skills being implemented in the desired manner or not. Our observations show that hospital management and airport staff and even banking customer support fall short at times with furious customers launching complaints, tarnishing the prestige on social media, or in worst cases initiating lawsuits. A small lapse in details can become a nightmare, but imagine all the customer-facing people wearing a camera on their suit or uniform will provide blissful heaven for quality assurance personnel. They will be able to implement, check conformance, monitor deviations and devise a flawless plan of action to exceed customer expectations. HR personnel can have a brilliant tool to devise and rate KPIs and eventually appraise people. The people wearing the camera will also give in to the ‘watching eye’ and be on their best behavior saving lots of unnecessary costs to the organization.

iTecknologi Group of Companies thrives on introducing the most innovative tech to Pakistani market and their flagship iTecknologi Asset Tracking and Security company possesses all sorts of security, monitoring and surveillance solutions. This is one of the offerings that their product team believes should be a compulsory addition to the uniform of LEA personnel on the field, or any frontline official dealing with clients for unprecedented customer delight. This will also provide for a huge data-mine which will uncover uncountable insights into customer interactions.  What’s best is that the equipment backed by state-of-the-art application has all the capabilities which one can think of.

Image Source: iTecknologi Group of Companies

The salient points of transparency, checks and balances, anti-corruption tool, providing efficiencies, a better Image and most of all the big data accumulation, make Body Worn Cameras a no brainer. The transparency bit will check a lot of boxes covering both ends of the spectrum. The officer will refrain from any misdeed, bad behavior, abuse of power and the organization will be able to showcase the positive material. The other end of the line consists of us, the general public, who will also behave knowing that everything is being captured.

By now you can actually feel this assisting in bringing down the corruption propagation by officers and the public. Implementing these cameras will make the bribe’s kitty quite empty. Knowing that someone is watching your moves, makes people do their work in a more professional way and doing anything unlawful will become out of the question since everyone wants to keep their job, dignity and a secure future.

There are many intrinsic and alternate advantages attached to having a body cam on officers like increase in productive job hours seems quite obvious. There will be less complacency pertaining to hours on the job and more dedication. This has the potential of making numerous elements automated, for example even the personnel’s attendance can be captured with time stamped powering up of the camera.

Image Source: iTecknologi Group of Companies

Last but not the least, accrual of this data will provide for a lot of analysis which will help in future decisions pertaining to deployment as well as training needs. The data can also provide for a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system, which will devise performance matrix and easy checks and balances on various aspects of the job, activities, tasks as well as skills of the officers.

Based on International standards, iTecknologi Asset Tracking and Security solutions in general and body-worn cams, in particular, open up doors for endless possibilities for many industries to ascend their performance and also inculcate a positive image in front of everyone.

[Video] Man In Lahore Shamelessly Asks A Woman If She Wants A Ride Home

Day in and day out women in Pakistan suffer harassment be it sexual, physical, or verbal. This woman has shared a new incident on her Twitter account, calling attention to the incident which happened with her friend. It is particularly disturbing and upsetting because neither the clothing can be debated on nor the location: it confirms that the issue is the mindset alone.

What Happened?

A woman and her friend were standing within the area of Mall One, Lahore. Mall One has become like an elite food street where eateries are studded across the small street and it’s always exceptionally rushy. Lahoris can see Gauchos at the back— they can tell that this woman is in the heart of a so-called elite place amongst so-called educated people.

The friend with whom this incident happened was just using her phone. If anyone ever wanted to raise a question on her clothing, they couldn’t because she is fully dressed. Two men in a car come close to her and insistently keep asking “hello, apka naam kya hai?” Then they ask her, “apko ghar chhor dein?”. The guy in question has the most disgusting smile on his face, even unapologetic and fearless while he’s being recorded.

Watch The Video Here:

What’s Wrong Here?

It is beyond revolting and also scary how a man can feel confident asking such a sexually laden question to a stranger woman. It shows they have no sense of punishment or consequences in their mind. Moreover, it also shows how they perceive women they find in public spaces: women who are available for them to ‘drop back home’.

What is even more upsetting is how the friend being harassed had to quietly take it. She is seen continuing to use her phone. What could she have done? Women feel more comfortable sharing their complaints on social media, safe behind a screen rather than in person. This is because even the authorities have become a frightening place for them, for us.

The Issue In The Replies

Though many women and men came in support of this woman and her friend, there were too many problematic statements also. They reflect how we have a role to play in all the terrible sexual harassment cases that happen in our society. Have a look here:

The good news is that the Lahore police reached out. Let’s see and hope that these disgusting men are punished.

Master Changan Reveals Sketches Of Upcoming Suv

Karachi, 24th November 2021: Master Changan Motors, the auto brand of choice for more and more Pakistanis, is proud to announce it will soon be entering the country’s much-heated SUV segment, revealing official sketches of the incredibly sleek and aggressively designed SUV.

Since debuting the Changan Alsvin Sedan in late 2020, Master Changan has fast grown to become one of Pakistan’s most popular automotive brands, constantly enticing consumers with innovative and cutting-edge auto technology. Earlier this year, the company unveiled its “Future Forward Forever” positioning, demonstrating its commitment to this by testing Changan’s Level-3 autonomous driving technologies on Pakistani roads – a first for any automaker in the country.

Now, the company has revealed, it is planning to introduce Pakistani auto consumers to a brand-new option in the SUV segment. Commenting on the company’s upcoming segue into the SUV segment, Danial Malik, CEO Master Changan says, “As with everything else, we are entering the SUV segment with a ‘Future Forward Forever’ attitude and look forward to disrupting it for the better and bringing Pakistan’s SUV consumers into the future.”

While the company has not revealed features, price, or launch timelines – mentioning only the new SUV will debut “Very soon!” – it has released initial sketches of the upcoming SUV, and claims that the upcoming SUV launch will be the first-ever ‘global launch’ for any vehicle in Pakistan. What that means is that Pakistan will be the first country to launch this new Changan SUV outside China as a global launch and the vehicle will be supplied to other RHD markets from Pakistan.

Elaborating on this, Mr. Malik says, “Despite spending millions of rupees, Pakistani consumers more often than not continue to lack access to the automotive design and technology available in other countries. Historically, Pakistanis get access to new models significantly later than other markets; the recent spate of ‘new’ and expensive SUVs are either at the end of their model life or have already been replaced globally with newer models. As such, we are proud to announce that Changan will be releasing this new SUV to Pakistani consumers first.”

The sketches show an SUV with streamlined contours, combining classic auto design with a high-tech, futuristic twist. With an elevated front and rear, the form brings to mind an authoritative urban SUV from the future. Wide and protruded wheel arches give a bulky and powerful stance to the SUV, adding a broad and sporty presence. The front grill seems to have a sophisticated diamond pattern with sharp corners, and a two-tier front headlamp setup can also be seen, similar to other Changan vehicles such as the UNI-T.

“I wouldn’t have let him marry an older woman” – Says Zaid Ali’s Mother

Zaid Ali, the popular YouTuber who attained the height of success through his comic videos on Bollywood movies is now pursuing a career officially as a vlogger. Now, most of his content involves his family. In a recent video, that meant having his wife and mom as guests.

Read More: Zaid Ali Has Started An Online Debate – Who Does The Baby Look Like?

Zaid Ali: Saas-Bahu Muzaakira

The idea behind the video was to have the saas-bahu have an honest conversation with each other. Maybe Zaid wanted to enforce the stereotype that the saas-bahu relationship is one where something is always going wrong. And they are not always truthful to each other. Well, maybe Zaid Ali, you are discounting the ‘saving face’ phenomenon or the notion of being respectful to the other person who joined the family not too long ago.

Saas-Bahu controversy 1: bahu is not perfect

Coming back to the video in question, Zaid asked both participants some questions and they were all very pointed and in reference to the other person. For instance, he asked his mother who her favorite daughter-in-law was. At first, she tried deviating it but then, when forced to give an answer, she made a remark that could come off as insulting. She said that no one is her favourite because no one is perfect; (well, no human is perfect, aunty).

Saas-Bahu controversy 2: bahu should not be older

In yet another question, Zaid Ali asked his mom what would she have done had she known that Yumna is older than Zaid. She tried hiding but it turns out that she would not have allowed the marriage to happen had she known earlier. Yumna was ready with her comeback though. She said that her other bahu is also older than her husband. The mom did add though that morally it’s not wrong to marry older women. (But ouch, aunty you said it like the men are doing a favor on the women for marrying them).

Yumna is not coming slow either

When Zaid gave Yumna a hypothetical question of who she would help were Zaid and his mom to fall down a flight of stairs. Yumna must have wanted to seem nice to choose the saas but her explanation seemed a little shady. She said, well, you know, aunty seems like she would need more help. (Are you age-shaming her or fat-shaming her Yumna?)

Watch the video

Zaid Ali, was it scripted?

All that said, it seems like the show was scripted. Why else would Yumna openly say anything to her saas or saas call her out so openly? If their relationship was not good in the first place, they would not even agree to do the show together. And since they agreed to do the show, their relationship was indeed well, in that case, they would never be accusatory to each other especially in public.

Pakistan Ranked 2nd Lowest in Gender Equality

Beating Afghanistan, Pakistan has ranked second lowest in the entirety of South Asia due to the lack of gender equality that is prevalent in the country. This information was discovered in a detailed report on women empowerment by Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) Mahbub ul Haq Research Centre in its Annual Human Development in South Asia Report for 2016.

According to the World Economic Forum’s (WEF) Global Gender Gap Report 2016, Pakistan ranked 143 out of 144 countries with respect to the gender inequality index. Bangladesh and India ranked 72nd and 87th respectively.

This research is inclusive of many factors such as length of education, accessible healthcare, along with economic, political and legal participation of women.

The questions mentioned in the report include:

  1. How has the economic, social, political and legal status of women in South Asia progressed since 2000?
  2. Has the progress been evenly distributed between women and men?
  3. What is the extent of inequality between women and men in various aspects of life?
  4. What are the policy options for enhancing women’s capabilities and enlarging women’s economic and political opportunities?
  5. What institutional mechanisms are needed to eliminate the discrimination of women?

Education

“Female literacy rate has improved by about 50% while female gross enrolment rates at the primary, middle and matric levels have also increased by about 15 to 20%. A similar trend can also be seen in higher education.”

girls-education

This indicates that a significant improvement has been made regarding women’s education, although, 55% of females are still illiterate.

Labour

The report highlights that between the years 2000-2014, the rate of the inclusion of women in the workforce has increased by 50% whilst the gender-wage gap has decreased- the reason being the increase of education amongst women.

working-women-in-pakistan

However, a majority of them are participating in low-quality work. Although women work more than men, their affiliation is rarely recognized.

Healthcare

Due to the increased use of contraceptives, the fertility rate has been reduced to 3.6 births per woman. There has been a change in the overall health of women in terms of life expectancy that has risen to 66.5 years.

In South Asian countries, traditional and religious values are treasured more than laws for women against abuse, harassment, and discrimination.

women-empowerment

Although many laws are available and have been implemented over the past few years for the protection of women and their rights, and significant improvements have been made for the women of Pakistan over the past few years, it still has many lengths to reach, as the report clearly states.

PepsiCo Pakistan Collaborates With Public Health Authorities To Achieve 100 Percent Covid-19 Vaccination Rate

PepsiCo is one of the fastest companies in Pakistan to ensure that employees and frontline associates are 100 percent Covid-19 vaccinated. In partnership with the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, Government of Punjab, PepsiCo organized extensive vaccination drives and awareness campaigns to accelerate vaccination rollout among more than 3,000 employees and frontline associates. This is part of PepsiCo’s overall goal for ensuring employee health, safety, and wellbeing and stepping up to support the government’s ongoing efforts on expanding Covid-19 immunization. This public-private sector partnership resulted in preventing Covid-19 infection transmission and played an instrumental role in raising awareness, prioritizing employee safety, and safeguarding families, and creating positive community impacts.

pepsico

This milestone was celebrated at a ceremony in the presence of Mr. Imran Sikandar, Secretary Primary and Healthcare Department, Government of Punjab, district health officials, and PepsiCo representatives.  Mr. Imran Sikandar, Secretary Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department present at the ceremony remarked, “Thank you, PepsiCo Pakistan for being a responsible organization and vaccinating 100% of your employees. This is a prime example of what a joint venture between public and private sectors can do. Congratulations to PepsiCo along with the healthcare workers of Primary and Secondary Healthcare departments for achieving this milestone!”

Mr. Furqan Ahmed Syed, CEO PepsiCo Pakistan, also shared his remarks on the successful culmination of the vaccination drive and stated, “It is very encouraging to witness our vaccination teams, associates, and frontline heroes come together to vivaciously fight the pandemic. I also express my sincere gratitude to the health authorities for supporting our employees’ well-being through vaccinations roll-out.”

PepsiCo Pakistan

From the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic, PepsiCo Pakistan has made significant strides to support Pakistani communities during the evolving pandemic situation. In 2020, PepsiCo Pakistan in collaboration with the Prime Minister’s Ehsaas ration program launched ‘Millions of Meals’ – a nationwide, disaster-relief program to meet communities’ nutritional needs during the crisis and address the acute food insecurity at the country level. The program brought together civil society actors, charities, and volunteers to swiftly distribute 13 million meals across Pakistan, including remote areas of Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. The positive societal impact of this inclusive food distribution drive in Pakistan eventually cascaded to other impacted regions where similar humanitarian efforts were carried out for underserved communities.

This is not the first time PepsiCo has set out to accelerate positive social impact on communities through public-private sector partnerships. Earlier, PepsiCo joined hands with the Government of Pakistan to advance the Prime Minister’s transformational Clean Green Pakistan mission. PepsiCo is making efforts for driving a circular economy in line with its vision for a world where plastics need never becomes waste. In 2021, PepsiCo Pakistan launched one of the country’s largest plastic waste collection programs.  This year nearly 100,000 people in water-scarce communities were given access to safe drinking water.

PepsiCo is committed to driving an inclusive post-Covid-19 recovery with agility to pave the way for transforming the way it creates shared value by operating within planetary boundaries and inspiring positive change for the planet and people. Moving forward, PepsiCo Pakistan will further its ‘In, With, For Pakistan’ agenda to create positive social impacts and strengthen its alliance with the government for improving the social sector performance and supporting communities, including women and youth in need.

The Evolving Role Of Short-Form Video Platforms In Online Gaming

Gaming has become one of the most rapidly expanding industries in modern times. The sector has become larger than the music and movie segments combined especially in the US. However, China continues to be the biggest market for eSports and video games worldwide. Generating revenues of nearly $41 billion in 2020, the Chinese market trumped the US with the latter raking in $37 billion during the same year.

With lockdowns during the COVID-19 pandemic providing the industry with an unprecedented boost, the world is now witnessing the marriage of social media and gaming to expand what is already an exceptionally vibrant field. Streaming platforms and short video-sharing apps are taking center stage in driving a unique mix of entertainment segments that have never been seen before.

To put things into perspective, Facebook gaming witnessed an exceptional 210% growth year on year in 2018 and 2019. At the same time, nearly 9.3 billion hours of eSport streaming was watched on Twitch during the same year. And it’s not just traditional social media platforms where gaming has gained traction but the rising category of short video sharing apps is also witnessing substantial growth in gaming communities.

eSport brands and tournament organizers worldwide have realized the impact that collaborations with short video sharing apps like TikTok, Likee, and Snapchat have on their respective viewership. This has given rise to a trend where diverse partnerships are being witnessed through live streaming or promotional ways like hashtag challenges and in-app exposure opportunities that are beneficial not just to players but brands as well.

Platforms like ByteDance, Tencent, and NetEase have begun working with some of the most renowned gaming brands across the planet. In 2019, Epic Games, the creators of the legendary Fortnite, collaborated with users on a short video-sharing platform to help create a new Emote for the game. Similarly, many gaming leagues and competitions are now taking to short video-sharing apps for enhanced user experiences as well as greater reach.

Besides the benefits for brands and audiences, creators themselves are finding new opportunities for themselves to grow through gaming. A strengthening community worldwide is a testament to this shift. Likee, a leading short video sharing app, for instance, launched the #LikeeGamingZone where creators can meet like-minded individuals while streaming content to a vast number of viewers globally. So far, the community under #LikeeGamingZone has grown to 3000 fans with a viewership of more than 80 million and counting.

Pakistan is no different from the quickly accelerating global trend around gaming. With the introduction of numerous streaming as well as short video-sharing apps focused on providing gaming communities the chance to shine, this segment is expanding rapidly. Likee is one of the most popular short-form video sharing apps in the country these days and the platform recently launched the Gamer Team Battle, Pakistan’s first-ever short video gaming contest. With nearly 4500 videos uploaded by almost 92 participants, the competition has truly caught the attention of the community and its viewers. Viewership numbers stand at more than 1 million and they are rapidly growing each day.

In conclusion, it is safe to say that short video sharing apps are becoming the new hubs not just for various content creators, but gaming as well. With renewed interest from brands, tournament organizers, and creators alike, these apps are expanding horizons for the gaming community as a whole.

Having the most Grammy nominations is also essential to an artist’s success! For instance, American rapper Jay Z rose to the top of the list of artists with the most Grammy nominations on Tuesday as he hit a lifetime total of 83. This put him just slightly ahead of former Beatle Paul McCartney. These three latest nominations for Jay-Z were a result of his collaborations with other artists. Jay-Z made guest appearances on DMX song ‘Bath Salts’ and Kanye West’s ‘Jail’.

To amp up the pampering factor and to help them look flawless on their special day, we have compiled the list of Top 10 Bridal Salons in Karachi for the rushed bride.

Bina Khan

Location: Bukhari commercial Lane No. 1, Defence, Karachi

One of the most established makeup artists in Pakistan, Bina Khan is the go-to choice of a huge number of Karachi brides.

[fb_embed_post href=”https://www.facebook.com/binakhansalon/photos/pb.123285851081176.-2207520000.1440586513./522495594493531/?type=3&src=https%3A%2F%2Fscontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-xta1%2Ft31.0-8%2F857722_522495594493531_1594548999_o.jpg&smallsrc=https%3A%2F%2Fscontent-fra3-1.xx.fbcdn.net%2Fhphotos-xap1%2Fv%2Ft1.0-9%2F1240558_522495594493531_1594548999_n.jpg%3Foh%3Dd6b88603ae889857d981aba19460fb40%26oe%3D56364050&size=1462%2C2048&fbid=522495594493531/” width=”550″/]

Not only does Bina Khan’s salon offer top notch makeup but the bridal services that come with it are splendid too. Charging PKR 35,000 for bridal makeup, Bina Khan does both traditional and fusion looks with ease. Her salon boasts one of the most trained and polite staff in town, something very uncommon in most of Karachi’s salons.

Natasha Salon

Location: 7E, 8th Zamzama Lane, Opposite Pizza Hut, Karachi

Run by Madam Noor Jehan’s granddaughters, Natasha and Sabrina Khalid, the salon literally revolutionized the art of makeup in Pakistan when it first debuted.

[fb_embed_post href=”https://www.facebook.com/182139695225631/photos/a.212550928851174.38400.182139695225631/730645530375042/?type=1&theater/” width=”550″/]

Trained in London, Natasha is known for her intricate hairstyles and regal looking brides. A choice of many celebrity brides too, Natasha charges PKR 45,000 for bridal makeup and services.

While most reviews for Natasha are good, some people do find her makeup “too white and made up”, something that Asian women find hard to adjust to with their wheatish skin tone.

Sabs the Salon

Location: 4 -C Farooq Heights, 36th Commercial Street, Tauheed Commercial Area, Phase 5 DHA. BRANCH: 1-D, Street 20, Off Tipu Sultan Road, Muhammad Ali Housing Society.

The only problem with the salon is the number of brides it takes on for the day. Often coined as the “fish market” of the bridal world or “bride factory” as some call it, most brides do not feel as pampered as they would like at the most special day of their life. Nonetheless, the makeup by either of the two MUAs is hands down one of the best.

Charging PKR 38,000 for bridal makeup, Anam also offers makeup training courses in Pakistan and abroad.

While her makeup has garnered her immense popularity in a short period of time, she has had her share of bad reviews for cancelling out on makeup appointments at the last minute and photo-shopping her makeup pictures.

Zee5’s Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam Seems Non-Creatively Similar To Churails

Zee5, a channel with Indian origins and excels in Pakistani shows, is gearing up for yet another project, Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam. While the channel had been fairly active releasing new shows every now and then, the most famous to date still has been Churails.

Churails & its story

The story of Churails revolved around four women and some others who decide to attack their attackers. The story starts with establishing a line of defense. Hence, at first, these women, began their investigations, looking into the spouses of their clients. But soon, the story gets the men in their lives involved too and they shift modes; from defensive to offensive.

Now, this is a story that you would say broke stereotypes. It challenged the values associated with women and their characters. It truly was a deviation from the concretized notions that defined Pakistani women on television.

Keeping this in mind refresh your memory of Churails before we delve into the show in question.

New Show – Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam

With the new show ready to air, we were of course excited about the trailer. But now, that we have watched it, we are not so sure of what to think of.

The trailer has a plethora of star cast; every scene is just brimming with it. In fact, you will see many from the Churails cast as well. Sarwat Gilani, Faiza Gillani, Meher Bano are some names that appeared in both projects. But is it just the cast that is similar? Not really.

When you see the teaser ad the trailer of the show, you will see that it gives a strong Churails vibe. In that show too, the women were unapologetic and well, violent in order to convey their stance. In this show as well, the women are violent and unapologetic about their violent behavior. The narrative, of course, was playing right into the hands of the stereotype; it negated that women need not be on the receiving end of the violence.

Have a look at the teaser of Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam:

So, what did you think of it? Do you agree with us that we can get out of the violence against the gender paradox and explore new possibilities on the horizon? Or do you think that we are on the right trajectory? Let us know in the comments below.

Boys Do Cry – Minimalist Ad Hits Chords As It Breaks Stereotypes

boys do cry

If you take a certain group, divide it into girls and boys on the basis of a stereotype for girls, you are associating a similar stereotype to boys as well. Hence, when you say girls are emotional and sensitive, you are also saying boys are not. While girls have to try and fight to dissolve this stereotype, boys have sort of internalized it; they have internalized that boys don’t cry. Breaking this stereotype is the campaign titled: “Boys Do Cry”.

Read More: 21st Century Advertising But Still Normalizing Gender Stereotypes

The campaign details

The iconic rock band by the name of The Cure was formed in 1978. In the early years only, they created a famous song called Boys Don’t Cry (1980). An Australian agency, The Hallway, has launched a campaign that is challenging the pre-existing stereotypes about boys. Long gone are the days (or should be) that whenever a little boy got hurt, his peers or parents would tell him to not cry or man up. Now, people are speaking up that this should definitely not be the case. They do that by taking The Cure’s song and applying their own touch to it.

Instead of the rock band’s Boys Don’t Cry, it becomes The Hallway’s Boys Do Cry.

boys do cry

Who we see?

What makes the campaign even more impactful is how it starts. It starts with a group of men, 30 in number. They belong to every race and walk of life. You will find teenage boys and white-haired senior citizens. You will find Mexican, Black, and White men. And you will find jolly-looking as well as serious men. The oldest starts singing. One by one, everybody joins in.

The way their voices all mix up, creates a sorrowful tone, but one that is making promises. It promises that the next generation will be better because they are pledging now to stop putting pressure on the young ones; the pressure of being strong.

Listen to this and if you end up crying, it is okay!

Hopefully, with more such campaigns, more people will internalize the idea that it is okay to express all emotions; that men can cry; that women need not cry.

Until then, let’s all play our part in this fight of breaking stereotypes. Let’s all fight not just for women but for men too.

Naveed Raza Calls Out and Exposes Alizeh Shah

naveed raza alizeh shah

It appears Alizeh Shah’s declining days are here as actors call out the starlet for her unprofessional attitude and arrogance! The talented Naveed Raza did not mince his words when he blew his whistle on the up-and-coming actress on Ahsan Khan’s show. What is Alizeh Shah being accused of and is it justified? Let’s find out!

Naveed Raza’s Call-out

Naveed Raza was asked a question by Ahsan Khan on Time Out With Ahsan that pertained to Alizeh Shah. Although Khan did not name her, Naveed Raza was not in a mood to be euphemistic. He said straight up: “why don’t we name the actor?”

He thus began critiquing Alizeh Shah and we have to say, it was constructive for sure. Naveed Raza pointed out what Shah did on sets: she not only cut Nawaz’s dialogues and refused to do certain scenes with him but she also constantly kept sidelining him. For instance, when Yasir Nawaz was drying his hair on set, she asked the team to move his chair. Why? Because the warm air was hitting her face!

The Advice Naveed Raza Has

The constructive criticism lies in the gentle advice Naveed Raza had for Alizeh Shah. He said to her, “you need to learn from them, not instruct them.” Naveed Raza holds the belief that no matter how popular or famous someone is, they owe a certain respect to others out of their seniority. “Yasir Nawaz has a profile,” says Naveed Raza.

Raza also added that Shah is yet to work a lot hence, she needs to be more humble and respectful towards the giants of the field.

What Does This Make Alizeh Shah Seem Like?

Raza also added that Shah misbehaved with Humayun Saeed even though he was the director. Yasir Nawaz openly stated that he regretted working with Shah and he would have liked to reduce the number of episodes of the drama despite its popularity. These multiple callouts have made Alizeh Shah seem like someone who stumbled into the starworld all too soon.

Though the upcoming actress may be popular and has made a huge number of fans, it is not appropriate to be a hurdle for so many actors together. However, we can’t help but notice how this male vs. female dichotomy keeps heightening. What if the situations are being twisted out of context?

Unilever’s latest announcement has shocked the world and especially the corporate sector. The multinational company is selling its global tea business that brought in billions in revenue in the last year. What has prompted this decision and why has it been sold? Let’s find out!

Unilever’s Global Tea Business

The name of Unilever’s global tea business is Ekaterra. It is the world’s leading tea business which also has a portfolio of 34 brands including Lipton, PG tips, Pukka, T2 and TAZO. Ekaterra’s business has generated revenues of approximately €2 billion in 2020 but this year the business has made a turn. More About The Transaction

It is being said that the completion of this transaction will be completed in due time. The council consultation processes and the receipt of certain regulatory approvals are yet pending. As a result, the completion of the sale is expected to conclude in the second half of 2022. There’s nothing simple about it!

However, here’s the catch! Ekaterra’s boundaries in India, Nepal, and Indonesia will be kept with Unilever, they are excluded from the sale. Moreover, Unilever’s interests in the Pepsi Lipton ready-to-drink Tea joint ventures and associated distribution businesses will also remain.

What Has Unilever Said?

Alan Jope, the CEO of Unilever, said that this sale is nothing resembling a step backwards. Their portfolio is only developing further and this sale shows the big plans that Unilever has in store for them. There are bigger fish to catch! Jope said, “We are proud of the place that our Tea business has in our company’s history.”

Pev Hooper, a Managing Partner at CVC Capital Partners, noted that Ekaterra is a prime target in an attractive market to accelerate its future growth. CVC, according to Unilever’s team, will only help it reach new heights. “We look forward to working with the team to realise ekaterra’s full potential”, said Hooper. Until the sale finalises the business will remain with Unilever and this period of transition may slow down its growth too. However, in 2022 Ekaterra is definitely set for a boost as CVC will push full-throttle on this new asset.

Things Fire Up Between Hareem Shah & Farooq Sattar – What Is Going On?

Hareem Shah rose to popularity from TikTok (among other things). Whenever she makes public statements, there is something controversial hidden which leads to her becoming a trending sensation. You will recall the drama with Muft Abdul Qavi and then her mysterious husband whom she would just not reveal. Back to the present, she was recently invited to TBH with Tabish Hashmi. Even though the episode has not been released yet, the viral teasers are definitely predicting another viral episode of the show.

Hareem Shah at TBH

The host, it seems, asked Hareem about her infamous encounter with a political party person, Farooq Sattar. She made some comments. Now, on the same show, the host had had a conversation with the person in question on the same matter. To jog people’s memories, the show producers edited together both shows, and that brings about an interesting story to the foreground.

hareem shah

According to the clip, you will find Farooq Sattar expressing dissociation with Hareem Shah saying that they did not meet exclusively. He said that this was just a social gathering with tons of people; she was one of those people. She came to him and they clicked a picture together. He claimed that she didn’t even know her because he had not seen any clips of her. It was after that incident that people told him that it was Hareem.

Interaction with Farooq Sattar

Hareem’s story was different, however. She, in fact, referred to him as a friend. To be exact, she was talking about having friends and not denying that. With that, she turned the conversation to the Farooq Sattar calling him chotey guddu. She said that Farooq Sattar had told her that whenever she visits Karachi, she will be his guest. In the parallel universe, Sattar called it pure coincidence.

Read More: Hareem Shah Teases Fans By Posting Inappropriate Videos With Husband

She also said that the picture clearly shows PC’s curtain, sofa, and table proving it is the hotel’s lobby but Farooq Sattar denied it saying Hareem visited him in his office. She ended the matter by saying that one should be courageous with what they choose to do; that if they have the courage and own what they do then no one would ever think wrongly of them. Otherwise, and she gestured a telephone sign, one should not talk to girls.

Have a look at it yourself

She ain’t that wrong now, is she? Let’s take more ownership of our actions. If begin doing that no matter what industry or stage of life we may be at, the world will become a better place on its own.
