The truth about Mayo Hospital, one of the biggest hospitals in Lahore, Pakistan, is coming to light and it is more than frightening. A hospital is a place where we rush to with our loved ones without any thought. However, after knowing all this, will we ever? Read more about Mayo Hospital’s reality.

Secret Torture Cell

It was revealed on social media that a secret torture cell was being operated in Mayo Hospital. This private torture cell was being run by the Janitorial Staff Supervisor, Zohaib. Apparently, his video of torturing patients/attendees went viral which then exposed this cell entirely.

According to the investigation so far, Zohaib was mainly targeting attendees of patients. He would observe the patients and attendees of Mayo Hospital and if any of them looked suspicious, he took them to the cell and tortured them. When the Medical Superintendent (MS) at Mayo Hospital, Dr. Iftikhar, became aware of this, he fired the three workers who were suspected to be involved. However, is firing them enough? These people should be publicly exposed and handed over to the police.

Another Evidence of Abuse

After this went viral, another video of abuse is making rounds on social media. The video has been made within Mayo Hospital. There is a line of attendees who are registering their details to stay with their family members who were patients. However, out of nowhere and for unknown reasons, the management of the hospital starts slapping them.

Two men are being continuously slapped while being filmed and they are standing quietly. As a poor man, what can you even do? People can become afraid for the safety of their family members admitted to the hospital when the management acts like this.

Criminal Negligence All-Around

This is violence, corruption, and a breeding ground for serial killers. Zohaib, especially needs to be behind bars because he has exhibited a tendency to torture people for no reason. It also seems highly unlikely that no one from the management knew— how can that happen under one hospital’s roof? Moreover, even the MS should be found guilty for simply firing Zohaib rather than handing him to the police.

Such incidents are finally coming to light and this may encourage many more to speak up. Let’s see where the case goes for now although Mayo Hospital’s days of glory seem like they are coming to a close end.

Pakistani Drama with a weird concept

In the recent installment of not knowing life exists outside marriages and deaths, a renowned channel made a Pakistani drama that is getting quite some backlash. A viral video clip from the drama, Juda Huay Kuch Is Tarah shows foster siblings getting married. The term they use is Razaai behen bhai. By using the term, the drama intends to show that two unrelated people were breastfed by one person.

A woman in the clip strolls in and says that these two should not have gotten married because they are not religiously allowed. What’s more is that right after that, the next scene shows that the couple is pregnant.

Game of Thrones

Seeing such a story on Pakistani television is unimaginable. But most of the viewers are having the laugh of their lives because they are reminded of Game of Thrones.

No, not Dani, but the Lannisters. Of course, Dani and Jon Snow had a questionable relationship as well but the Lannisters were biological siblings who have three children together. While the relationship of these Pakistani drama characters may not be featuring biological siblings, but to the viewers, it seemed on the same level.

LAHORE: Zameen.com — Pakistan’s largest property enterprise — recently acquired the sales and marketing rights for the first privately constructed vertical real estate project in DHA, Lahore, called DB32. In a recent ceremony at Zameen.com’s head office, the management rights for the project were handed over to Swiss International Hotel and Resorts.

Zameen’s Senior Director Laeeque Chaudhry was present on the occasion, and was accompanied by Zameen Project Sales Directors Basil Hafeez, Hafiz Usman Sarwar, and Ali Rehan, along with Mashood Amer of DB32 and management of Swiss International Hotel and Resorts.

On the occasion, Zameen Senior Director Sales Laeeque Chauhdry stated that DB32 was being developed as a result of a long-standing demand for such projects in the city and had already been approved by the DHA and the Civil Aviation Authority. DB32 is located at a prime location on Khayban-e-Iqbal and comprises of state-of-the-art facilities, which ensure that it will provide a handsome return on investment. He added that he was hopeful that the DB32 project — backed by the country’s renowned and trustworthy organizations — would become a center of attraction due to its unique facilities and modern construction.

Additionally, DB32’s Director Mashood Amer vowed that the project would offer international standard facilities and excellent hotel apartment services. He added that the project was DHA, Lahore’s first privately constructed venture and that it would be a milestone in the development of hotel apartments in the country.

Pakistani women need protection more than ever, given all the recent incidents of violence against them. Keeping that insight, the government is also taking numerous measures in order to ensure that the gender encompassing half the population can feel safe. One such measure is the introduction of the anti-women harassment and violence cell in Lahore.

Anti-Women Harassment & Violence Cell inaugurated

In recent news, Lahore Police has inaugurated its first cell focused on the incidents of harassment and violence faced by women. The idea is to ensure that women get their cases promptly registered. The cell will also be responsible for investigations without any influence or bias against the gender. To carry out the inauguration on Tuesday, the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Ghulam Mehmood Dogar was invited to Defence Area (B) Police Station.

Amongst the attendee were the DIG Operations Sohail Ch, CTO Lahore Muntazir Mehdi, and SSP Operations Waqar Shoaib Qureshi. One could also see SP Headquarters Imran Ahmad Malik, SP Dolphin Squad Rashid Hayat, and SP Cantt Sayed Aziz among others in the ceremony. The CCPO made his rounds around the cell, looking at all the sections, and inspecting facilities.

At the ceremony, CCPO Lahore Ghulam Mehmood Dogar spoke to the media as well. He said that the cell is aimed to give prompt support to women. It will tackle their issues and grievances.

He also said, “Six gender crime cells of Lahore police have been linked to this cell.”

Aside from this measure, Punjab Police has also launched a ‘Women Safety App’. Through the app, not only can women get immediate emergency services but also register dangerous areas for women. The CCPO took this opportunity to urge the women to download the app.

Finally, Apple is out into the spotlight. Where we used to think the event was going to be robust, it shattered all expectations. The company really went above and beyond with its unveils and releases. As always, fans have left the event with a state of shock and astonishment. Last night, they finally decided to make a mark on this year. So, what exactly were the big reveals, and how far were we from the truth of it all?

Apple Event Highlights

Firstly, Apple decided to finally unveil the iPhone 13. The smartphone has some upgrades over its predecessor, however, the design is similar. There are four variants to the iPhone 13, them being Mini, Base, Pro and Pro Max. If we look at the first two ones, they feature the Apple A15 Bionic chip. The company says that this chip is the most advanced one in smartphones yet and is sure to go a long way. The phones have upgraded camera abilities alongside a longer battery life.

This is a significant upgrade to the iPhone since the battery has been quite an issue for a while now. The iPhone 13 Mini can run 1.5 hours longer than its predecessor whereas, the base can run for a full day now! We could not have imagined them having such a good battery life already!

The iPhone 13 Mini price starts at $699 for 128GB storage. The base iPhone 13 is going to be priced at $799, starting with 128GB storage and going higher if you require more.

The Next Two Models

Apart from this, the higher variants of the iPhone 13 were, probably, the biggest highlight of the event. One of the most outstanding features was the phone’s upgradable storage option. You can now go for the Pro Max with 1 Terabyte of storage! This is double than what it was in the predecessor and a first for smartphones! Apple really is an innovator in many domains. The lightning port still remains and there is no under-display touch ID.

The pro devices are packed with a five-core CPU, making it a good option for gamers as well. The iPhone 13 Pro costs about $999 and the Pro Max costs $1,099/-. For the 1 Terabyte upgrade, the Pro Max costs $1,599/-.

Two Additional Unveils

Apart from the iPhone itself, Apple also released the Watch Series 7. It is a slimmer device than the series 6 and has a wider display. Additionally, it allows for 50% more text to be shown on the screen, with a full keyboard available for typing. The watch is going to be sold at $399 and will be available later this fall.

Finally, Apple unveiled upgraded versions of the iPad and iPad Mini. The former comes with an updated A13 chip which is 20% more powerful than its predecessor. It even features a 12Mp ultra-wide camera and accessory support that works with first-generation Apple pencils. The 10.2-inch iPad will cost $329 for 64GB storage.

The iPad mini comes with smaller bezels, more rounded corners as well as Apple’s liquid retina display and an updated speaker system. Its price starts at $499.

Xiaomi has announced a pair of smart glasses called Xiaomi Smart Glasses. However, its pricing and availability information has not been revealed. The glasses will first be made available in China before coming to global markets. Xiaomi’s new Smart Glasses will compete with Facebook’s intelligent Stories Ray-Ban glasses. Facebook has adopted the classic Wayfarer frames and innovative integrated components to enable several functionalities.

Design And Technology

The glasses adopt the MicroLED imaging technology to lower the design space needed in structural design. This will also help reduce the overall weight of the device. The MicroLEDs have a higher pixel density and a more straightforward structure. It allows for a more compact display, as well as easier screen integration. It has a display chip measuring just 2.4×2.02mm. Under a microscope, the display pixels are sized at 4μm.

MicroLED is a self-emissive display technology that is widely viewed as the natural successor to OLED. However, it is prohibitively expensive and is yet to be deployed in more than a handful of commercial products.

Product Specifications

The glasses are an independent Android device that doesn’t require a constant phone connection. According to reports, they can even replace the phones someday. According to the information, the Huawei PixLab X1 printer costs 1899 yuan (US$294) and supports two cartridges, 99 yuan and 299 yuan cartridges. The touch panel remains hidden until you touch the black screen surface and wake the printer.

The Huawei PixLab X1 features 367 mm (length) x 320 mm (width) x 288 mm (height) dimensions, 9.450 kg weight. it has 512MB of RAM and 4GB of storage.

A USB 2.0 port, a 10/100 M Base-TX port, Bluetooth 5.0, and Wi-Fi 5. With the help of the printer, NFC features, you can connect your phone with a single tap to share files.

Product Specifications

The PixLab X1 uses a high-speed engine that can print up to 28 pages per minute. The printer also supports automatic duplex printing, all-in-one printing, copying and scanning, and color scanning up to 1200DPI resolution. The PixLab X1 is a laser printer that can only print in black and white. When scanning documents such as ID cards, the printer will automatically correct the card’s orientation if positioned randomly.

Along with the smart printer, the Chinese tech giant will also introduce more new products, including Huawei Nova 9 and an All-in-one PC. All these new gadgets will be unveiled this month.

Careem Highlights Importance Of Road Safety By Distributing Helmets, Partners With Authorities

Karachi, September 14, 2021 – In essence of highlighting the significance of road safety, Careem has collaborated with the Sindh Police and Defence Housing Authority (DHA) Islamabad to build on its yearly initiative of distributing helmets to motorcyclists. The activity was conducted in two cities, Karachi and Islamabad initially and is expected to be carried out in various other cities in the next phase.

The initiative is aimed at bringing awareness regarding the importance of safety as well as ensuring the best practices are followed amongst motorcyclists. According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, there were a total of 9701 accidents in 2019-20, resulting in 5436 deaths and 12317 injuries^[1]. 45% of the total accidents are of motorbike riders, which can potentially be avoided with the use of helmets.

In Karachi, the event was attended by senior officials from Careem and Sindh Police including; Sagheer Hussain, Senior Superintendent of Police, Afzal Noor Khan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Bachal Shah, Police Inspector, Turab Sub-Inspector and the Traffic Safety Awareness Team whereas in Islamabad the guests included; Col Rtd. Muhammad Amjad, Deputy Director and Deputy Head of Security, DHA.

Zeeshan Baig, Country General Manager, Careem Pakistan commented: “Safety always comes first, be it of our Customers, Captains or Colleagues. Since lives are precious, we should do all in our power to not lose them due to negligence.” He further added: “We are extremely happy to partner with the authorities to raise awareness regarding the matter and play our part in ensuring that all necessary steps are taken.”

Muhammad Amjad, Deputy Director and Deputy Head of Security, DHA stated: “We are thankful to Careem Pakistan for not just distributing helmets to motorists but also for emphasizing the significance of road safety and raising awareness about the importance of wearing helmets while riding.”

As per the Motor Vehicle Ordinance of 1965, it is mandatory for both the motorcyclist and the passenger to wear a helmet, however, this is not implemented by many motorists.

According to research by the World Health Organization (WHO), lack or inappropriate use of helmets has been shown to increase the risk of casualties and physical impairment resulting from road crashes involving motorized two-wheelers. Careem Pakistan wished to bring a change in those statistics by ensuring that people take all the necessary precautions and observe best safety practices so they keep themselves and others out of harm’s way.

We want to see Pakistan excel in a number of avenues. Unfortunately, we usually come across news such as the Minar-e-Pakistan incident or the Noor Mukadam case. Amidst such traumatizing times, when the Pakistani athletes make you proud, we want to acknowledge their efforts more than ever. But is this what we should make Talha Talib, the weightlifter, and Shehroze Kashif, mountain climber suffer through?

Scam calls

We are all aware of the scam calls (most of us have even received them) that tell you about how you can claim huge prizes. But for us, they are random calls where the con artists tell you that our bank data needs updating. While some people still fall for these scams, others have become used to it and just put the receiver down. In the case of these two Pakistani athletes, it was a different form of the scam; it was a targetted scam.

People claiming to be government officials contacted these two Pakistani athletes. The scammers told them that as part of the government acknowledging the efforts, the athletes were eligible for a prize. To receive it, however, the athletes will have to submit some cash.

Talha Talib & Shehroze Kashif

The Olympic athlete who got 5th position and is the gold medalist of the 2016 Commonwealth Young Weighlifting Championship 2016 was asked for more than PKR 300,000. Meanwhile, Shehroze Kashif, the youngest mountain climber to summit Everest was asked for PKR 285,000. Athletes were informed that after submitting the money, they would get a car.

Considering that the scammers pretended to be the personal staff of a certain federal minister, there was no chance to doubt the calls.

Complaints filed

After the scam, the fathers of both athletes decided to take action against the scammers. Both had a different way to go about it but hopefully, both their ways will yield results. Talha Talib’s father took the route of the Pakistan Citizen Portal started by the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the father of Shehroze Kashif filed a complaint about fraud with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
