The Ministry of Foreign Affair is now adapting and shifting from manual document attestation to digital services to improve the current system.

Reportedly, the Ministry has launched a Quick Response (QR) Code for attesting documentation at their headquarters. This feature will soon be adopted by all campuses.

Benefits of Digital Attestation

In a first, the new QR system will not only save time but also will help prevent delays and mistakes. Not just that, the system will be able to speed-up verification processes and curb ill-practices and forged documents and false attestation.

Furthermore, the QR code will also be used to verify marriage certificates and educational documents as well.

The paperless system will be of great help to overseas Pakistanis who send their wills, power of attorney and other documents over. Plus, all information will be digitally backed for future reference and all records will be safe and secured.

Khushhali Microfinance Bank 2018 Pre-Tax Profit Soars by 40% Reaching PKR 3.5 billion

Khushhali Microfinance Bank Limited (KMBL) posted its financial results for the year ended December 31, 2018, in Islamabad. With a marked improvement in performance, KMBL maintained its upward growth momentum in the year 2018.

The bank announced a pre-tax profit of PKR 3.5 billion, one of the highest reported profits in the industry, and up by 40% against last year’s pre-tax profit of PKR 2.5 billion. This rise can be attributed to growth in balance sheet supported by a continued increase in KMBL’s lending portfolio which went up by 34% from last year.

Portfolio quality indicators remain stable and the bank is well capitalized with a capital adequacy ratio of 18.9%.

Building on its strong performance over the past five years, the Bank has not only maintained but elevated its position in the microfinance sector. KMBL is actively expanding into new urban and rural markets effectively targeting its potential client segment and with 197 locations the Bank has one of the largest networks across the country. It enjoys a market leadership position with the highest number of clients, loan portfolio, deposits, asset base and profitability amongst the microfinance banks.

Agriculture sector remains the mainstay of lending portfolio of KMBL owing to the opportunities available within the largely unbanked segments of the market. The deposit book of over PKR 56 billion also appreciated by 22% in comparison to 2017, and the Bank proposed a dividend of PKR 1.50 per share.

In order to sustain and capitalize on growth opportunities in the market, the Bank raised its capital through successful injection of Tier II capital of PKR 1 billion. The bank continues to invest in technology up gradation to enhance its capability to offer Digital Financial services to its customers.

Founded in the year 2000, Khushhali Microfinance Bank has come a long way to fulfill its objectives of providing affordable financial services to the poor.

In acknowledgment of its outstanding performance, KMBL received the “Best Microfinance Bank” award at the third Pakistan Banking Awards 2018. The bank is owned by a consortium of investors including one of Pakistan’s largest commercial banks (UBL), and Blue Chip international investors with expertise in the Micro, Small & Medium Enterprise finance.

Ranveer Singh Talks About Ban On Pakistani Artists In Bollywood

While talking to media, John Abraham said:

There has to be a war against terror, not against a country, religion, religions or between religions. I am very clear in my outlook. I (will) probably get picked on, but I am not going to sit on the fence and say ‘this audience will like it, that won’t.

He further emphasized that Indians are stereotyping people which is a dangerous sign. He added:

There has to be a war on terror. It has to be over and done with. That doesn’t mean you have to fight with another country. That doesn’t mean you have to stereotype people. We are stereotyping people, that’s probably the most dangerous sign. It shouldn’t happen. But that’s the way the world is functioning today.

John Abraham is currently working on his upcoming movie titled ‘Romeo Akbar Walter (RAW)’ which is based on the war of 1971. The story revolves around an Indian spy who joins the Pakistani Armed forces to relay information to RAW.

Philip Morris (Pakistan) Limited (PMPKL) today announced it will reorganize its cigarette-manufacturing operations, following a strategic review to optimize process efficiencies and operational effectiveness and to position PMPKL for sustainable future growth.

This will involve closure of the cigarette-manufacturing facility in Kotri, Sindh and will impact 194 employees, all of whom will be offered separation packages that will exceed what is required by law in order to facilitate them through this difficult transition period.

Commenting on today’s announcement, Joao Martins, Managing Director PMPKL said,

“PMPKL remains committed to operating in Pakistan, through our manufacturing facility in Sahiwal, the Green Leaf Threshing plant in Mardan and by maintaining a strong ongoing commercial presence.”

“The wide presence of illicit cigarettes in the country has impacted the legal industry volumes, as a result, our manufacturing footprint was in excess of requirement, hence PMPKL decided to consolidate its current manufacturing footprint to achieve greater efficiency and for a sustained business outlook.”

“Our priority will be to treat all our employees fairly and with respect and dignity. We appreciate the contributions that each and every colleague has made over the years and we understand that this is difficult news for our employees.”

PSL 4 Ticket Refunds & Sales: All You Need to Know

The Pakistan Cricket Board has reassured all ticket-holders of the Lahore-leg matches in the HBL Pakistan Super League 2019 that they will get refunds on the face value of the tickets.

The following is the update as on Monday, 4 March, with more information to follow in due course.

Refund of tickets:

As is the case for all online sales, fans who purchased tickets through www.yayvvo.comwill have their transactions reversed on to their credit/debit cards in the next few days without needing to go to the TCS centers.
All tickets purchased physically, will be refunded post 18 March through dedicated TCS centers across the country. The PCB will share more details of the specific TCS centers in due course

Purchase of tickets:

Ticket for the 7 March match will be valid for the 11 March double-header. With approximately 85 percent of tickets already sold, the remaining 15 percent tickets are still up for grabs which can be purchased at the original price of the 7 March match
Tickets for the 9 and 14 March matches will be made available shortly for purchase. Further details will be provided in due course.
Tickets for matches in Karachi as per the previous schedule for which dates have not changed will continue to be valid.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Explodes After Restarting in User’s Hands

A Samsung Galaxy S6 exploded in the hands of its owner causing severe burns on his skin.

Reportedly, 40-year-old Jacob Cohen was out and about doing routine work on his phone when it froze. Upon restarting the set, the phone went severely hot and the back blew off, catching fire before he could let go.

Jacob doused the flames with tap water to prevent it from further damage, however, the fire had completely burnt through the set. Samsung replaced the set the same day and carried out an investigation.

According to Cohen, he had purchased his set in December from eBay during Christmas.

Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani has debunked all rumors claiming that Pakistan Super League (PSL) 4 will not take place in Pakistan.

During a press conference, Mani clarified that these speculations have no head or feet and are mere rumors. He further said that Karachi and Lahore will host all 8 matches as per schedule.

He said:

This is our unanimous decision that matches will be held according to the plan, in Pakistan.

I’m thankful to all the franchise owners and other stakeholders who supported our decision.

After Imran Khan announced the release of the arrested Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as a ‘peace gesture’, a petition has surfaced online for Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.

The petition calls for Khan to be nominated for next year’s prize “for his peace efforts and dialogues in the Asian region on diverse conflicts”.

According to the Express Tribune, more than 300,000 people have signed the petition in this regard and has become a viral social media movement.

Update: Due to a sustained back injury, AB de Villiers will not be able to rejoin with his squad in Pakistan.

AB was to return to play 2 matches for Lahore Qalendars, but doctors have advised him to rest.

It’s disappointing news for Lahore Qalandars management and its fans that AB de Villiers will not be able to make it for Pakistan’s leg of PSL but we wish him a speedy recovery. He is a wonderful player and an amazing person – Sameen Rana, the manager of Lahore Qalandars said in a statement.

De Villiers also shared his two cents:

I am very disappointed that I will not be able to play in front of the passionate Pakistani cricket fans. I saw my doctor who has advised complete rest for two weeks and, unfortunately, that rules me out of the games in Karachi.

Samsung and Huawei made waves with the announcement and showcasing of their new foldable smartphone.

The Galaxy Fold and Mate X have become the talk of the town in no time. However, it looks like Apple will be joining the bandwagon soon.

The brand has filed a patient which looks like a foldable device, the concept image shows a device that folds from top to bottom from the middle. The blueprint was submitted in October.

It would be desirable to be able to use flexible display technology to provide improved electronic devices – Apple explained in the application

However, Apple has not made anything official. Fans have already started sharing concept images of what they think Apple’s phone will look like.

Juda Na Hona Drama on TVOne: A Fairytale in the Making

TV One’s latest serial ‘Juda Na Hona’ has created quite a buzz in the industry, starring the power-packed duo of Mansha Pasha and Shahroz Sabzwari in the lead.

From the first glimpse, it seemed that the drama was yet another love story. However, we were left in awe as its pilot episode revealed traditional villains and intense suspense in terms of script, acting, storyline, and direction.

The gorgeous Mansha Pasha as Samaha stole the spotlight in the first episode. Her character is that of an outspoken girl and acts rebellious against the conservative nature of her father played by Firdous Jamal.

Samaha dreams of marrying a rich handsome lad who will take her far away from her boring life one day.

On the other hand, her younger sister Sania is a shy girl with reserved nature and she’s really afraid of their father’s short temper.

Firdous Jamal as Abdul Manan did an impeccable job throughout the episode portraying his chauvinist character.

Even though his daughters go to university, he doesn’t really appreciate it.

Humera Bano is playing Firdous Jamal’s wife, whose character is relatable to the majority of women living in our society in male-dominated households. She works hard to diffuse the tension in the house and asks her daughters to be more cautious when their father is around.

Abdul Mannan is looking for a suitable match for Samaha. However, when Samaha finds it out, she loses her temper and clearly tells her mother that she won’t marry someone like her father.

Taking us to another side of the society where lives Sudais (Shahroz Sabzwari), a handsome spoilt lad and also, Samaha’s university mate.

Sudais rarely attends any class but considering his parent’s contributions to the university’s funds, he doesn’t care at all. Sudais has resilient nature and he is also not quite respectful towards his mother Sofia (Tara Mehmood).

Sofia’s relationship with her husband Noman (Aly Khan) was also shown to be a bit complicated as he blames her for neglecting their children and giving more time to her work and social life.

We were also introduced to Sudais’ little sister (Sonia Nazir) who also studies in the same university and is self-centered.

She taunts Samaha over her dressing which has soured the relationship between the two.

Samaha has a crush on Sudais as she adores his lavish lifestyle. Sudais also seemed a bit interested in Samaha but he is smart at hiding his emotions.

Let’s see how these two are going to make their own fairy-tale which seems to be surrounded already with so many old-fashioned villains.

The overall episode was impactful and all the actors especially Mansha Pasha, Shahroz Sabzwari, and Firdous Jamal, kept us hooked to the screens for the entire time.

Seema Munaf has written the story with characters that can easily be found in our society, hence, making it more relatable. It looks like the drama will also focus more on the class difference in our society in the coming episodes.
