After Imran Khan announced the release of the arrested Indian Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as a ‘peace gesture’, a petition has surfaced online for Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan to receive a Nobel Peace Prize.

The petition calls for Khan to be nominated for next year’s prize “for his peace efforts and dialogues in the Asian region on diverse conflicts”.

According to the Express Tribune, more than 300,000 people have signed the petition in this regard and has become a viral social media movement.

Since then, the hashtag #NobelPeaceForImranKhan has begun trending on Twitter. Influential personalities and celebrities are urging their followers to sign the petition and spread it forward to make it a reality.

Federal Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry also submitted a resolution in the National Assembly Secretariat on Saturday demanding that Prime Minister Imran Khan be awarded a Nobel Peace Prize.

However, Imran Khan has now broken silence on the matter and his response is bound to make you respect him even more.

In a humble tweet, Khan revealed that he is ‘not worthy of the Noble Peace Prize’. He added that this prize should be given to the one who finally solves the Kashmir dispute.
