Punjab Food Authority has sealed various seafood eateries in Rawalpindi for using substandard oil.

According to ARY News, these restaurants in Committee Chowk were sealed for violating food regulations. The rancid oil was discovered to be cancer-causing.

Many eateries were exposed for storing fish in open and dirty storerooms. What’s worse, sewerage water was mixed with the fish.

A raid was also conducted in a spice factory and it was discovered that spices like macchli masala and biryani masala were being manufactured in unhygienic conditions.

Non-edible items like animal feed and red color were being used to produce the spices.

What’s even more shocking, mice, roaches and were roaming in raw spice and dirt was spread everywhere in the production unit.

PTCL Lands in Trouble with CCP!

Pakistan Telecommunications Company Limited (PTCL) has landed itself in hot waters with Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) for ‘abusing’ its position.

Reportedly, PTCL has violated Section 3 of the Competition Act, 2010. A showcase notice had been issued to the leading telecom brand in 2012 after the conclusion of an inquiry on the complaint of Micronet Broadband Limited, LinkDotNet Telecom Limited, and Nexlinx Limited (Complainants).

CCP has also released an official press release to highlight that the brand has abused its dominant position in the sector for the provision of DSL services through unacceptable predatory pricing and refusal to deal.

The inquiry further determined that PTCL was restricting their competition via the practice of margin squeeze eventually forcing 5 of 11 competitors out of the market and discouraging new players who wished to enter the sector.

When issued the show-cause notice, PTCL filed a writ petition in the High Court challenging CCP’s jurisdiction. The Commission was suspended on 28th June 2012. Meanwhile, the brand reportedly remained successful in delaying the proceedings.

CCP will now proceed in the matter of show cause notice issued to PTCL for prima facie abuse of their dominant position. This will be the very first time that the Honorable High Court has allowed CCP to decide the maintainability of the proceedings pending before CCP.

Instagram has said that the platform will be giving the boot to fake followers, likes, and comments generated by applications tailored to make accounts to appear more popular and show more followers than there actually are.

The crackdown comes as Instagram parent Facebook strives to assure people that the leading social network and its services can be trusted.

Starting today, we will begin removing inauthentic likes, follows and comments from accounts that use third-party apps to boost their popularity.

Instagram is using self-improving software programs to help identify accounts that use such apps and purge products of inauthentic activity, which violates terms of service at the service.

Instagram said it would notify users about removed likes, follows, or comments.

People who unknowingly linked to an offending app need only change passwords to sever connections, according to the photo and video sharing social network.

Instagram users who continue to use such third-party apps possibly seeing their “experience impacted,” but the service did not specify in what ways.

The announcement comes amid growing concerns about Facebook’s efforts to curb misinformation and manipulation.

Facebook has faced renewed criticism following a New York Times investigation suggesting it ignored warnings about Russian influence campaigns on its platform and then used a consulting firm to discredit critics of the social network.

Twitter has made similar efforts to root out inauthentic accounts, resulting in declines in the number of followers for some users.

Instagram Passwords ‘Accidentally’ Compromised After Security Flaw

Instagram has notified some of the users about an error made by the company. The social media giant revealed that some of their user’s passwords ‘might have been exposed’ due to a security bug.

The error occurred when the company rolled out a feature back in April that allowed users to download their own data.

The feature was implemented after European lawmakers released its ‘General Data Protection Regulation’ (GDPR).

Instagram states that some users that used the feature had their passwords included in a URL in the web browser, and that enabled the passwords to be stored in Facebook’s servers.

A security researcher later revealed that this could only happen if Instagram stores its passwords in ‘Plain Text’, which should be a concerning security issue for the company.

However, Instagram disagrees stating that it has since fixed the feature so that passwords are no longer exposed and told users to change their passwords as a precaution.

In a statement to The Verge, a spokesperson of the company said that

“if someone submitted their login information to use the Instagram ‘Download Your Data’ tool, they were able to see their password information in the URL of the page. This information was not exposed to anyone else, and we have made changes so this no longer happens.”

Cyber Attack Hits Three More Pakistani Banks!

In yet another shocking news, three Pakistani banks became victims of cyber-attack on November 13th, post BankIslami’s massive security breach last month.

According to the News.com.pk, data of over 150,000 plastic cards were put on sale on the dark web last week.

A Moscow-based anti-fraud firm the Group-IB detected an abnormal spike in Pakistani banks’ data offered for sale on the dark web card shop called  ‘Jokerstash’ after a new set of dumps was uploaded.

However, the latest dump did not include cards from BankIslami.

A blog post by Group-IB stated:

 “The banks affected by this breach included major Pakistani financial organizations such as, Habib Bank, MCB Bank Limited, Allied Bank Limited and many others”

However, Habib Bank was labeled as the most affected of all.

“Habib Bank was affected most by the breach: roughly 20% of cards (30,034) in the uploaded database was issued by this bank.”

Group-IB said that the market value if the database collectively is about $19.9 million.

“The sale price for these card dumps ranges from $17 to $160,”

Head of Group-IB Cybercrime research unit, Dmitry Shestakov said card dumps are usually obtained by using skimming devices and through Trojans infecting workstations connected to point of sale terminals.

He stated:

“What is interesting about this particular leak is that the database that went on sale hadn’t been announced prior either in the news, on card shop or even on forums on the dark net”

Last month, BankIslami underwent a major cyberattack as overseas hackers stole a whopping $6 million from debit cards issued by the bank.

The “abnormal transactions” were done by Pakistani debit cards outside the country’s borders.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) immediately took action by temporarily restricting the use of debit cards for those who are overseas.

Following the massive data-breach, as many as six leading Pakistani banks had temporarily disabled debit cards for international ATM cash withdrawal due to security concerns.

In a text message sent to all users, the banks informed:

“As a security precaution, your debit card has been temporarily disabled only for international ATM cash withdrawal.”

Banks that had halted facility of debit cards in overseas markets include:

  1. Bank AL Habib
  2. Soneri Bank
  3. JS Bank
  4. UBL
  5. Faysal Bank

According to the Express Tribune, the security breach has also hit about nine banks compared to initial reports of only BankIslami being affected by the cyber attack.

The News International revealed that according to the Moscow-based anti-fraud firm, nine Pakistani banks, including Bank Islami, Habib Bank, JS Bank, Faysal Bank, Soneri Bank, Bank of Punjab, Bank Alfalah, Silkbank, and MCB Bank had witnessed abnormal transactions.

Zara Noor Abbas as Aleena will be playing Shaz Khan’s love interest in the tale and this will be the first time we will be seeing the couple together on screen.

However, it seems like Hashir’s grandmother will be against the marriage and Aleena will be facing major hurdles as she gets married to him.

Pakistani Student Murdered in China – FO Dismisses Reports

According to different sources, a Pakistani student was murdered in China. Identified as Usama Ahmad Khan, the boy as studying at Shenyang Jianzhu University on scholarship was killed in public.

Apparently, Usama was brutally murdered by the father and brother of the girl he was dating in the name of honour.

Reportedly, a video has also surfaced showing two men, who appear to be injuring the boy with what appears to be bricks or stones.

FO Dismisses Reports of Murdered Pakistani Student

On the other hand, the Foreign Office (FO) has dismissed the claim of Osama Ahmed Khan’s murder.

The video being circulated on social media is not that of Usama Ahmad Khan. Usama Ahmad Khan committed suicide at Shenyang city in Liaoning province in China. -FO

The office claims that he had committed suicide – the video is not of Osama.

The body of the young man had been transported back home on 17th November. An official notice was also issued on the matter.

Pakistani Student Murdered in China

Earlier in July, a similar case had surfaced when 26-year-old Pakistani student, Moiz-ud-Din was stabbed to death while being accompanied by his girlfriend on the roadside. Reportedly, Moiz was enrolled in the Chinese language program offered at Nanjing Normal University where he studied on scholarship.

  • Select ‘Clear Watch History’ to remove those weird videos.
  • You can also stop YouTube from keeping track fo your videos by simply clicking the ‘Pause Watch History’ option.
  • Select ‘Search History’ to manage your Youtube search queries similar to how you manage Watch History.

You can also manage the search and watch history from the site’s Activity controls Dashboard.

The debate between whether or not Toyota Corolla GLi and XLi will be discontinued in Pakistan had torn the car enthusiasts in half. While some agree that the variants will no longer be seen in the markets, others strongly disagree.

If Indus Motors Company does decide to discontinue the models, will there be a Corolla 2019GLi and XLi, or even a Corolla 2019?

Word has it that the company is currently testing the Toyota Bezza 2019 in Pakistan. It is expected to launch, however, there is still a possibility that the brand might ship it to Pakistan.

Toyota Vios 2019 Price in Pakistan & Specifications

Rumors and a source have shared that the 1300cc Vios will be the replacement for the GLi, which already is available around the globe, including in countries like China and India. Furthermore, a Toyota vendor has revealed to PW that IMC has given them a deadline to manufacture parts of Vios by year end.

On the other hand, the discontinuation of the Corolla XLi is a bit skeptical. This is because the 4-gear automatic Corolla recently launched within the country just a few months ago. However, there is still a possibility that the company might consider phasing out the manual variant to introduce and encourage the Vios 2019.

So, there is a complete certainty that the Toyota Vios 2019 is surely going to be launched in Pakistan as it has in India. However, the question of the Corolla GLi and XLi still remains.

Corolla is one of Toyota’s most sold cars all around the world. In just the past few of months, IMC has successfully sold 18,814 units within the country.

Update: The anti-encroachment drive in Karachi has now reached the eateries at Mohammad Ali Society in Karachi.

Pictures have surfaced of authorities taking action of illegal eateries being taken down by the officials.

Other restaurants in the area include Kababjees, Chillee’z Restaurant, Ideal Restaurant, Hafiz Jee, PizzaHut, Subway, Del Frio, KFC, Wall Street Burgers, and others.

There is no word or pictures on the other eateries as of now.

The encroachment operations across Karachi have stirred a number of mixed reactions from its citizens. More than 1700 illegal structures have been taken care of during the drive.

On one hand where people are praising the government for their initiative to rid the city of its illegal operations, whereas others are quite sad to see their favourite stores and shops go down.

The famous Noorani Kabab House has also received a legal notice by Sindh Building Control Authority and has been sealed. The reason behind this is because the eatery was found to be built on the residential land and was being operated commercially.
