Over the weekend emerging model, Mushk Kaleem took to her social media accounts to call out the colorism in the Pakistani fashion industry.
24-year-old Mushk Kaleem kick-started her career in 2017 and there has been no stopping her since then.
Recently she was also nominated for the Lux Style Awards’ Best Emerging Talent in the Fashion category.
Here is what she had to say about the common color discrimination in the fashion industry of Pakistan:
Addressing to the brands whose requirements for their brand collections include casting a pearl white model to please the Pakistani eye, Kaleem has categorically asked them to not consider hiring her.
Mushk also said something very important in the comments.
“A lot of people still can’t move on from the whole ‘fair and lovely’ narrative.”
A number of celebrities including Nadia Khan, Nomi Ansari, Tabesh Khoja and the likes were seen supporting her soon after she posted her strong, unapologetic opinion.
Do you think the bold and fierce Mushk is right about the widespread colorism in Pakistan?
