The Sindh Police Department has recommended separate driving learning permit mandatory for the purchase of new motorcycles.

This comes as a step towards preventing traffic accidents and collisions.

This suggestion came forth with Inspector General (IG) Sindh Police Syed Kaleem Imam in a high-level session.

The session was carried out to review measures for anti-motorcycle lifting, security and everything else in relation to it.

During the session, it was decided that a learning permit team will be established for the main markets.

Moreover, authorities were directed by IG Sindh to ensure that motorcyclists wear helmets and follow all traffic laws.

Furthermore, he added that Karachi Police will be working in collaboration to curb motorbike theft and make the needed arrests against gangs who are involved in street crimes and violence.

It was also shared that official notification will be sent out to Pakistan Standard and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) to make installation of hook-locks a part of the law for the manufacturing companies.

Additional Inspector General Karachi Dr.Amir Shaikh, representatives of driving license branch, FIA, crime investigation, representatives of driving license branch, Sindh headquarters, traffic police, operations, SSP Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC), owners of motorcycle-manufacturing companies, and SSP Anti-Violent Crime Unit(AVCU) attended the session.
