The actor took his Twitter account and wrote:

Agree with @arunjaitley If Pakistan truly wants to root out terrorism as they say so, they should join hands with India to do so. We and you have nothing against our respective civilians. If Imran cannot, Pakistan Army or ISI should do it. Think!

Arun Jaitley was of the opinion:

At the onset, we should refresh our memory. Since the past many years, Imran Khan rivals in Pakistan have been addressing him as ‘Taliban Khan’, even though he has been a cricketer, a popular politician, before being elected as the prime minister of his country.

Aurat March 2019: Some Powerful Messages That Are All About Women Empowerment

Modern Marketing Solutions for Modern Marketing Challenges.

A vast majority of information that we absorb on our daily basis comes through digital means, especially from our mobiles.

A constant companion that lingers with us in our daily routine, whether we are sitting idle or are busy in our chores, our cellphone always remain the main protagonist. With this gradual shift, more businesses are taking notice and targeting this booming market.

Evolution of practices and adapting to this shift hasn’t materialized altogether just as yet; with brands tending to plaster their conventional methods over to digital platforms. There are, however, some brands that are keeping pace with their ever-changing consumer base. Amongst these brands is Zellbury, clothing, and fashion brand.

Zellbury’s latest commercial for their ready to wear collection was a future-forward venture in advertising. Shot completely vertically, the commercial was made to fit perfectly to mobile screens, targeting people scrolling through their social media timelines.

Partnering with Irfan Junejo, a Pakistani youth’s media staple, they came together to create a truly magnetizing video.

Keeping with the brand’s young image, the video was accompanied by a rap track, sung by Young Stunners, depicting Karachi’s street style and daily lives of the nation’s vibrant youth.

Zellbury’s combination of a fresh, young, creative approach and the tactical decision to create a vertically framed video, specifically for mobile devices, may prove to be the contemporary marketing strategy that we require to stay up to date with the changing trends. Excited to see what the brand comes up next!

OICCI Women Reiterates Commitment For Women Empowerment On International Women’s Day

The Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OICCI) has reaffirmed its commitment towards promoting ‘Women Empowerment’ and ‘Gender Equality’ at workplaces in Pakistan.

The OICCI had launched the “Women Empowerment” initiative in 2017, in partnership with UN Women. Over the course of 2018, the OICCI conducted intense research and capacity building in the field of gender balance and workplace improvement.

A survey done among OICCI member companies highlighted that only 2% of senior management positions were held by women whereas another 16% in middle management and 36% in junior management position were filled by leading female talent.

Over the past year, OICCI has organized training and coaching sessions to understand the issues in increasing the ratio of women at the workplace.

OICCI is building on this research and feedback from women in the workforce to launch a Women Empowerment Whitepaper presenting a set of recommendations on different core issues of working women.

This white paper aims to help the Government of Pakistan to enact the appropriate regulatory infrastructure that promotes gender balance and empowers women in Pakistan’s corporate and business sector.

Shazia Syed, President of the OICCI, highlighted, “OICCI member companies, who represent the largest bloc of foreign investors in the country, are considered a role model for the corporate sector in the country when it comes to management skills, transfer of best practices and in promoting gender balance at the workplace. We are aware of our responsibility, which is why the OICCI is actively working to become part of policymaking with the government to resolve those issues which are considered as hurdles in the progress of Pakistan in the Global Gender Gap Ranking.”

Mr. M. Abdul Aleem, Secretary General, OICCI, added “Pakistan stands at 148 out of 149 countries in the Global Gender Gap ranking which is indeed extremely poor showing for a country with a population of over 200 million and a thriving economy. The Global Gender Gap Report 2018 identified that Pakistan is ranked 146th in economic participation and opportunity category, 139th in educational attainment, 145th in health and survival and 97th in political empowerment. We strongly believe that the country’s economic growth will benefit from greater gender balance and more female engagement, especially in the manufacturing and services sector activities.

Government to Privatize 49 Organisations in Next 5 Years

PIA and Steel-Mills

The Federal Government of Pakistan has announced its plans of privatizing 49 organizations in the next 5 years.

This decision was made at a session of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee for Privatization under Syed Mustafa Mahmood.

Secretary for Privatisation Rizwan Malik also gave briefing during the session. The Minister mentioned that 15 companies have been taken out of the privatization list while on the other hand 8 have been added.

Currently, Pakistan is in talks with Russia as well as China to run Pakistan Steel Mills (PSM) under public-private partnership. The aim is to increase its production capacity from 1.1 million to 3.5 million per year.

During the session, the committee was also informed that PSM and Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) have a combined loss of estimated Rs 600 billion out of which PIA is at a loss of Rs 400 billion.

According to the new report, PSM reported a profit of Rs 9.5 million during the fiscal year of 2007-08. During the era of PPP and PML-N, the mills suffered a massive loss as its financial health deteriorated. In June 2015, it was closed.

According to Secretary Privatisation Rizwan Malik, out of the 49 organizations, PIA and PSM are also a part of the list.

Honda Civic & Toyota Grande Price-Tags Increase by a Whopping Amount!

Toyota Pakistan

If you think purchasing a Civic or Corolla is expensive, think again!

In the Finance Supplementary (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019, the government had proposed a 10% increase in federal excise duty for locally-manufactured motor vehicles with an engine capacity of 1800cc and above.

This means that both models now have a price increase and now Rs2.8 million. Both websites have confirmed the new change in price.

On the other hand,  the government has abolished a restriction that barred non-filers from buying new vehicles above 1300cc engine capacity. This means that all Civics and Grande lovers will have to pay more.

Most Searched Cars for February 2019

According to Samaa, the amendments related to the auto sector proved to be a positive trigger for local automakers. The stock of all three major automakers, Pak Suzuki Motors Company Limited, Indus Motors (the makers of the Corolla) and Honda Cars, hit their upper limit after rising 5% from their opening price with more than 698,000 shares changing hands on Thursday.

The removal of the non-filer ban will be majorly positive for Indus Motors, since all its variants [except the Corolla Gli/Xli] are above 1,300cc – Intermarket Securities (Report)

Cars had already become expensive comparatively as prices increased by 25% in the last 12 months due to the depreciation of the Rupee against the Dollar. About 70% of their parts are imported and paid for in dollars.

Facebook ‘Stablecoin’ to Replace Visa & MasterCard?

facebook stablecoin

Word on the street is that Facebook might be considering to become the world’s biggest central bank! In 2018, the speculation broke out that Facebook will be introducing its own currency.

Previously, the social media giant had banned cryptocurrency ads from its platform because they are “frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices.”

However, Bloomberg had reported that the platform is currently working on a ‘stablecoin’ which can be used for transferring money through its encrypted messaging platform- WhatsApp.

Facebook Confirms Linking Instagram, Messenger and WhatsApp

These ‘Stablecoins’ will be linked to the US Dollar which means they will be more stable and resistant to volatility comparatively to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. The report by Bloomberg further stated that the platform will start-off by launching these coins in India for an experiment as it has a massive remittance market.

Now, the latest speculation is that there is a high possibility of the platform changing into the largest bank in the world.

Facebook is looking at pegging the value of its coin to a basket of different foreign currencies…held in Facebook bank accounts. – Nathaniel Popper and Mike Isaac, NY Times

Between its Messenger and WhatsApp, the platform has around 2.7 billion users worldwide. According to the Medium,  If Facebook decides to back the value of its own digital coin with a basket of foreign currencies, then it could potentially become the largest central bank in the world — because that’s what central banks do; print money backed by their country’s economy and foreign currency reserves.

Facebook Groups in Pakistan are Promoting Prostitution & Drugs

If Facebook goes about this plan, this might be the elimination of Visa and MasterCard. Medium added that if Facebook issued its own digital currency, and all its users had a Facebook mobile wallet with Facebook coins in it, then the need for credit cards will diminish more and more.

Let’s assume 1 coin is valued at $10, if you make a purchase at Starbucks for 5 coins, you will simply have to tap or scan with your phone for the deduction to happen instead of having to be dependent with Google Wallet or Apple Pay.

Facebook can use this opportunity to tap into a massive and continuously growing which means that it can eliminate third parties and start what could be the world’s largest e-commerce platform where a user won’t be required to fill credit/debit card details and other information, they can simply tap on buy and confirm the purchase, voila!

The NYT report said that “The Facebook project is far enough along that the social networking giant has held conversations with cryptocurrency exchanges about selling the Facebook coin to consumers.”

Now, if we breakdown the numbers, the world has a population of approximately 7.7 billion individuals. Out of these, China is the most populated country with a population of 1.4 billion. WhatsApp has a total number of 1.5 billion users, adding Instagram and Messenger, the number reaches a user base of 2.7 billion people – thus making Facebook’s coin (currency) the biggest in the world!
