In a bid to promote Pakistan Super League (PSL) even further, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has invited Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and International Cricket Council (ICC) board members to attend the PSL 4 final in Karachi.
According to The News, PCB has sent an invitation in this regard to ICC Chairman Shashank Manohar and Chief Executive David Richardson as well.
However, in light of the Indo-Pak tension, BCCI secretary Amitabh Choudhary will most likely not be coming to watch the final of the tournament.
Similarly, the ICC chairman, who is also from India will not be coming as well.
According to PCB Chairman:
“Both Khanna and Manohar have refused to visit Pakistan to watch the final of the tournament citing personal engagements”
These invitations were sent to BCCI and ICC board members before cross-border tensions escalated between Indo-Pak.
“The idea behind sending the invitations is that when they come and see for themselves the arrangements for the final it will change the perception of people around the world about security in Pakistan and convince them it is safe to play international cricket in Pakistan,
What’s more, PCB is also expecting a visit of officials from Afghanistan, England, Ireland, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
The main aim of inviting officials from other boards is to promote a positive image and security situation of Pakistan worldwide.
