Budget 2019-20: Automotive Sector’s Future in Pakistan

Budget 2019-20 Automotive Sector

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) is all set to present its first federal budget 2019-20 today. The automotive sector is also a part of the government’s plan and we are expecting good news.

Although sales have witnessed a decline and have been a little sluggish, there is still much hope for the industry. Before the official budget is announced, here’s what we think is in store for the future:

1. Uniform License Plate Registration Numbers

A uniform series of registration numbers have been proposed by the Punjab government. This news has been around for some time now as the province has been doing a lot to improve rules and regulations in the province.

This move will help abolish the ‘favoritism’ factor from the system. Vehicles registered in larger cities have higher resale value, thus to eliminate this practice the government might just be welcoming the uniform scheme so that individuals will not have to worry about the value of their vehicles.

Peugeot Cars to be Manufactured & Assembled in Pakistan!

2. Luxury Tax on Cars

According to the Punjab Minister for Excise and Taxation Hafiz Mumtaz Ahmad, PTI is expected to waive off the luxury tax on the registration of cars in the province of Punjab. Punjab Excise Department had imposed a luxury tax to generate revenue but backfired.

Because there was no luxury tax imposed on the Capital city, many car owners took advantage and had their vehicles registered from there to avoid the tax. Whereas almost 15,000 luxury vehicles were registered on average year but the numbers suddenly dropped to nearly 2000 registrations after the imposition of the luxury tax in the province.

3. The Withdrawal of 10% FED on Cars 1700cc and Above

It has been speculated for a while now that the government will withdraw its 10% Federal Excise Duty (FED) on cars of 1700cc and above. Although there is no official confirmation as yet, a verdict is expected to be announced today along with budget 2019-20. The imposing of the duty has negatively impacted the sales of cars like Toyota Grande and Honda Civic 1.8 in Pakistan.

What do you think will be the future of the automotive industry in Pakistan?

Atif Aslam Reveals Sajjad Ali’s Upcoming YouTube Series ‘Ke Kun Kly’ in a Video

atif aslam sajjad ali

Singing sensation Atif Aslam recently took to Twitter to post an adorable video with Sajjad Ali to reveal something.

In the video, together they are teasing the audience and trying to make them guess what Sajjad’s upcoming music series will be all about.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QdcWfR8wYwg

Sajjad Ali himself took to social media over the weekend to announce his upcoming music series on YouTube.

The uber-talented Sajjad Ali is a semi-classical, pop and rock singer, poet, actor, film director as well as a film producer.

Pakistan Announces 5-Year Visa for US Nationals

Although he is not seen on the screens as often as he used to be around a decade ago, whenever he does something new, it takes the country by storm.

Har Zulm, Tamasha ft. Bohemia and Lagaya Dil are a few of the examples of his last hits.

The teaser that Ali has uploaded gives off strong nostalgic vibes. As Ali himself speaks cryptically about truth, knowledge, and faith, the tune of one of his most popular songs “Mujhe Tum Se Pyaar Hai” plays in the background.

Moreover, popular names in the music industry including Ali Azmat, Arif Lohar, Abrar-ul-Haq, Zoe Viccaji, and Atif Aslam are spotted in the teaser.

The trailer does not reveal too much about what exactly Ali’s new music series will be based on. However, from the looks of it, it seems like Sajjad will be taking everyone for a walk down the memory lane through warm, candid conversations.

In the end, we see Ali’s childhood photograph on a Polaroid, which gives off a very album-cover-ish look and feels.

We contacted Sajjad Ali’s daughter, Zaw Ali, for a more comprehensive statement on her father’s exciting new venture. Here’s what she had to say:

‘Ke Kun Kly’ is a docu-series on music  conceived, created and produced by My father. it aims to educate amateur and professional artists on the do’s and dont’s of music while busting old myths and addressing taboos related to it, allowing the audience to appreciate Art with a better understanding.

When asked what is the meaning behind ‘Ke Kun Kly’ and if it is the philosophy behind the series, she said:

The story behind the title is both sweet and funny. Ke Kun Kly were my dad’s first words when he started speaking. That’s what my grandparents and his elder cousins remember him saying.

Social Media Sends Love to Sajjad Ali

Fans and followers including Iqrar-ul-Hasan, famous TV presenter and journalist, are wishing the legend all the best for his upcoming venture.

His work has always been greatly looked-forward-to, and it is no surprise that the audience is so psyched about the series.

Many are requesting him to produce something like he did in the 90’s.

Fans already think it will be a massive hit like the rest of his work.

Even his daughter is excited about her father’s newest venture!

Captain Hassan Javaid Shaheed’s Resurfaced Letter Leaves Social Media Teary-Eyed

Pakistan‘s Captain Hassan Javaid Shaheed had passed away during a crucial mission on the night of 31st May 2003. A letter which he wrote 15 hours before he embraced martyrdom has now once again resurfaced on the internet.

In the heartfelt letter, the Captain had written a detailed letter to his elder sister Sabahat Javaid which had left social media touched.

In the letter, he shares the code of his phone, the amount of money in his wallet, he even writes to his sibling that he has left his i-pod for her. He further on shares that he wants his sister to keep up the family name as he has high aims for them.

He then requests his sister to pay his regards to everyone in person and take good care of their parents when he is gone. He asks her to distribute his clothes amongst the needy and inform his friends about his martyrdom.

The last message he writes to his sister is to have patience and be happy. The emotional letter shows us how our young officials leave behind their family and friends knowing that they may not return with strong will and the courage to fight the nation’s enemies.

It is because of Captain Hassan Javaid’s sacrifice and the selflessness of thousands of other soldiers who have given hope to the citizens of Pakistan for a brighter future.

Others also joined in, highly discouraging Lucman. Some suggested that Akram should fight for it legally and report it to YouTube.

Some said it was okay to copy Akram’s work but with credits to him.

While some suggested that Akram should do a podcast on copyright infringement and further shame Lucman.

Many are also dismissing it simply by saying that it is common for Pakistanis to copy content.

However, Mubashir Lucman’s version of the same, called ‘Why I Want To Visit Israel’ cannot be found anywhere on YouTube. Upon visiting the link, YouTube says that the video is unavailable.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qH8HEJsve1k&feature=youtu.be

The new rule will not even spare those who wish to enter the U.S. for the purpose of business or education and is expected to affect around 710,000 immigrant visa applicants and 14 million nonimmigrant visa applicants.

The only applicants exempted from the procedure are applicants for certain diplomatic and official visa types.

Pakistan’s IT Sector Roots for the Global Limelight

ABTACH

Considering the capabilities of the IT sector, the government of Pakistan is taking progressive initiatives to enforce policies that can maximize opportunities in IT.

Khalid Siddiqui (Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications) in the “Huawei Mobile Summit 2019” stated, We need to keep our pace with world to end unemployment. Improve our IT education standard as more than 25,000 IT graduates are being produced each year but only a few thousand get a job in the market.”

Pondering on some undeniable facts and figures breathing under the foundation of Pakistan’s IT sector, the minister has set new aims to make a digitalized Pakistan a topmost priority of the concerned authorities.

In the quest to promote IT, a meeting was held on 20th December 2018 under the co-chairmanship of Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman and the Ministry of IT, Masroof Afzal, to discuss the transformation and solutions required.

The Government of Pakistan cannot achieve its aims alone. It needs the confidence and dedication of tech companies working within the country. While the government of Pakistan is taking steps to assist the IT sector of the country, top IT companies like ABTACH are also playing their role to ensure optimum growth.

From delivering a vast range of digital marketing solutions to serving each client with outbound online visibility, ABTACH is determined to bring the Pakistani IT industry to the limelight. It operates under the unmatched expertise of Mr. Azneem Bilwani (CEO), while Mr. Salman Yousuf (COO) is the mastermind behind the unprecedented growth this company has seen over the past couple of years.

Dr. Khalid shared his perspective, saying that the next 20 years in the IT industry will be crucial. He further explained, We need to keep our pace with the world to generate more employment opportunities and end unemployment.”

With great developments predicted for the Pakistani IT sector, brands and companies will find a better way to operate online businesses. It will bring a plethora of benefits in the accumulation of ICT goods, leaving a positive influence over the GDP.

Though it took a lot for the IT sector to prosper, it seems that such strong policies will push companies like ABTACH to strive for the best and achieve targets set by the Ministers of Pakistan. In a nutshell, we are bound to witness astonishing advancements in the IT industry in the years to come.

As per the news on April 10th, 2019, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui declared that a robust cybersecurity policy in being penned down and will be enforced soon. Moreover, the threat to cybersecurity hindered in the exploration of contemporary digital solutions.

Hence, the Ministers of Pakistan are strengthening the technological base of the industry to assist IT professionals and marketers in running seamless online businesses. In fact, the newly elected Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mr. Imran Khan has claimed to allot Rs1.1 billion to build projects for the exploration of AI-based solutions. This could open up a whole new arena for the IT-industry of Pakistan.

The IT companies of Pakistan are already working on high-tech projects revolving around Augmented Reality and Artificial Intelligence. Developing digital products in the form of incredibly responsive websites and shaping the future of brands through interactive and integrated brand assets, IT firms in Pakistan are building a firm reputation of becoming the torchbearers of information technology.

People like Tim Cook and Elon Musk carved their footprint in the IT sector by developing an idea that was unique and enriching. This goes to show that the prosperity of a nation does not lie in the huge investment plan or rapid policymaking. It lies in the execution of a great idea.

The tech-savvy people in Pakistan are equipped with a sheer drive, determination, and enthusiasm to not only develop new IT ventures but also create an IT empire that can beat the exports of all other countries in the world. By using state-of-the-art software and smart techniques, each product/service offered in the industry is a specimen of the capabilities this nation holds when it comes to the IT sector.

As tech advancements are growing with a rapid pace, the day isn’t far when Pakistan will be considered a global IT hub, provided the government and the tech enthusiasts continue to work together.

5 Eid Dessert Ideas That are NOT Mithaayi

Tic Tac Pakistan

Not only is this creative by Tic Tac extremely adorable, but also the ‘enjoymint’ pun is quite witty!

As a brand whose core product’s purpose is to refresh the consumers’ mouth, it is safe to say that their marketing is equally refreshing to the consumers’ eye

Pepsi Pakistan

Eid Mubarak hugs are one of the best things about Eid, and Pepsi has used it very smartly by incorporating their logo in the creative.

McDonalds

Popular for their one of a kind French fries, McDonald’s has used them to depict the fingers of praying hands in this creative. What better way could there be to wish Eid to Muslims than this!

Oreo Pakistan

Oreo is known for the twist-lick-dunk way of eating the cream-filled cookies. In a commendable way they have used the cream filling to draw a picture of the crescent, wishing everyone Eid.

Cocacola

The beverage brand Cocacola is all about “opening happiness” and sharing love, so we all expect it to come up with something creative during festive occasions.

This year, they designed this bottle full of happiness, light, and all other things we associate with Eid to wish their followers.

Moreover, earlier in the month of May, their creative for the arrival of Ramzan was also remarkably well done and simple! In just a top shot of a chilled glass of coke, they showed a crescent made with the fizzy drink’s gassy bubbles.

We hope you enjoyed looking at these Eid 2019 creatives and the idea behind them.
