Karachi – 18 October 2021: Syntax Communications, a part of the Synergy Group and the sole local affiliate of top global public relations agency Edelman, has named Khurrum Pervaiz as its first Chief Growth Officer.
In his new role, Khurrum will lead the transformational growth and accomplishing strategic initiatives for the agency and will report to Synergy Group COO Faheem Ahmed. He will also look to create value for clients by developing the strategic integration among specialist companies within the Synergy Group’s eco-system and driving cross-functional collaboration.
He joined Syntax Communications in 2006 and was named the resident director in 2016, building the agency’s business in Islamabad and Lahore from the ground up. She mentions how as a little kid she would actively crave for her birthday, asking for a specific theme, but as a thirty-two-year-old adult, happy moments like these had slipped from her mind. The woman had, in fact, forgotten her own birthday amidst work and life issues. She got all emotional when she found a surprise birthday with vintage batman decor and all her friends wishing her birthday.

In a detailed thread that continued after her initial tweet, she explained what the party further contained. Sparky was already overjoyed at the surprise but then she was told to go downstairs where a whole birthday party carnival was organized for her.

Yes, you heard that right. The South Asian traditional dessert combined with authentic Chinese gravy. And there is only one thing going on in our mind right now: How can someone even come up with this?

The dish is served with warm Jalebi full of sugary syrup with capsicum. The capsicum is golden fried and glazed in the sauce. The final topping ingredient is garlic cloves sauteed in oil. However, the star ingredient in this recipe is the side condiment which is soy sauce. At this point, we think that either this recipe is edible enough or a complete disaster.
Twitter came forward to respond to this bizarre recipe combined with two different traditional dishes across the borders. Needless to say that no one was even remotely amused with the recipe. Take a look at some of the responses.

1. Suzuki Mehran
This is one of the most widely used vehicles in the country. Due to its lightweight and cheaper parts, it consumes less fuel than the usual 4 door sedan. This is, ideally, an economical car when it is bought second hand. The car itself is featherweight and does not require as much maintenance.
This Non-Hybrid Vehicle can give up to and beyond 12 km to the litre. This is more than enough for you to comfortably drive around in the city. The highway average can go up to 13 and 15 too. It’s the perfect car for your day to day commute
2. Suzuki Cultus
Referring to Suzuki Cultus, we are referring to the older models here. This can include the Vxr ones from 2007 and even some from 2004. This car has more legroom than Mehran and offers better comfort. It is ideal for long commutes within the city since it handles fuel economy well.
On average and not too old, the Suzuki Cultus gives nearly 11 km to the litre. Considering how high the fuel rates are, about Rs. 500/- can provide 4.8 litres. That’s easily 40+ kms on such an amount. Chalk this up on your list of fuel-efficient Non-Hybrid Vehicles.

3. Honda City
Now, this is one of the higher price tag vehicles on this list. However, compared to a hybrid, this is still substantially lower. The Honda City is a proper 4 door sedan with a roomy trunk and comfortable drive. Its 2011 and 2013 models are great for a respectable fuel average. It has a 1.3L engine which is great for a vehicle of the size.
If talking specific to average, the Honda City gives 11 km or 12 km to the litre in the city. When it comes to the highway, this average is higher. This is due to the fact that, on the highway, the speed is mostly constant in a single lane. The writer of this article has driven a Honda City on the highway at an average of 14.8 km to the litre!
4. Toyota Corolla
This is one of the most popular Non-Hybrid Vehicles in the country. In Karachi alone, the amount of Corolla cars on the road is quite a lot. Corolla gives an adequately nice average in the city and on the highway too.
Driving within the city, the vehicle can move up to an average of 11 to 12 km to the litre. This is considerably good, keeping in mind that this is a heavy set sedan. On the highway, the vehicle can touch 13 km to the litre with ease.
5. Suzuki Alto
Now, this is yet another Suzuki entry on the list. It’s one of the most widely driven and used cars ever. One out of every five Non-Hybrid Vehicles, in Karachi, is an Alto. It’s compact, easy to drive and can cover a long distance on a good average.
On average, the Suzuki Alto can reach around 10 to 11 km to the litre and can touch 12 on the highway. It is, no doubt, a car that one can use for maintaining a good fuel economy!

KARACHI: Progressive assembler and authorized distributor of Proton vehicles in Pakistan, Al-Haj Automotive Pvt. Ltd. inaugurated its state-of-the-art vehicle assembly plant. The day also marked the much-awaited roll-out ceremony of the first locally assembled Proton SAGA.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Executive Officer of Al-Haj Automotive, Mr. Hilal Khan Afridi said, “The completion of the PROTON Pakistan project is the result of the hard work and untiring efforts of the entire Al-Haj team, its suppliers and vendors. InshaAllah, this assembly plant will set New Industry Standards and enable us to introduce New Generation of Products by following international quality standards set by PROTON.”
Proton Pakistan plant will have an initial capacity of 25,000 units per annum which can be further increased as per market demand. The technology and equipment used for the production of PROTON cars also include the use of robots in Weld and Paint shops. High-end vehicle testing equipment including Advance Driver Assistance System and Multi-function Testing Equipment are installed to ensure the best quality vehicles are rolled out. Manufacturing Execution System (MES) has been deployed for computerized monitoring and control of production, thereby ensuring high efficiency and quality.
The occasion was graced by the President of Pakistan, His Excellency, Dr Arif Alvi, who took to stage and congratulated Al-Haj on this historic occasion. Dr. Arif Alvi also shared his dream and hope for Pakistan. He stated, “Pakistan needs to increase the skill set of its youth to increase the employment rate of the country. The branding of a country is very important and Pakistan’s branding should be based on honesty and integrity. With more than 900 restaurants onboarded and 800,000 captains registered on its portfolio, Careem is leading to provide many more employment opportunities and collaborations while expanding its services. This internal activity was an integral step to work efficiently towards that goal.
With a rush of students who secured above-average marks in the Punjab Intermediate Board exams, the universities and institutions are revisiting their admission policies for the year 2022.
The List Of High Achievers
Last week, the Punjab intermediate board announced the results, and a high percentage of students scored above average marks. The results were announced after the exams were taken based on optional subjects only in light of the COVID-19 situation. With many students scoring excellent marks, the universities and institutes are now making new policies to enroll students in respective programs.
The New Policy
Under the new policy, the students would have to take examinations of optional subjects. The marks obtained in optional subjects will be given in place of compulsory subjects.
Previously the universities decided to give admission based on marks obtained in intermediate and matriculation.
The Punjab educational authority has also devised a plan for students who seek to improve their marks in the subjects. Candidates have to appear only in optional subjects if they seek improvement in part one’s marks.

Meanwhile, matriculation students have to appear for an additional mathematics exam along with the optional subjects. However, the candidates who clear optional subjects will receive 50% marks in practical exams.
According to a notice, “If a student fails all optional subjects, they will have to appear in the examination again.”
Punjab University’s Policy
According to Punjab University Registrar Dr. Khalid Khan, an open merit policy is in works for admission to different BS programs on the basis of intermediate and matric marks. The marks obtained by candidates in matric would help them develop a merit list easily and decide the final result.
Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Mansoor Sarwar informed the authorities regarding the admission policy. The candidates who seek to enroll in engineering subjects would have to appear in the entrance test. Meanwhile, the final merit list will conclude the 70% marks of intermediate and 30% of the entrance test. The entrance test will take place on 25th October.
Government College University
The GCU’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr. Asghar Zaidi, said that clearing the admission tests and interview is compulsory to get admission in the BS program. “To get an admission, the candidates have to clear both the exam and the interview.”

He further added; while the students feel good about securing full marks, this has eroded our education system’s credibility in the world. Adding; “I have convened the meeting of the Syndicate on Monday to get approval of the new admission policy.”

Smart Shoes – What Are They?
These shoes are designed to warn visually impaired individuals about an obstacle within a radius of 120 centimeters. They can do so with a sound or vibration. The smart shoes are a creation of 17-year-old Wasiullah who is a grade-10 student. He has always been interested in the world of innovation. His earliest invention was repairing and fixing damaged toys using electric batteries.

The young student’s teachers are also supportive of his passion. They added that he had indeed made many gadgets in the school lab.
Why The Smart Shoes?
According to Wasiullah, he wanted to make some shoes that would eliminate the need for sticks or guides. Visually impaired individuals walk around with sticks to guide them that can be unreliable or have to rely on guides who are scarcely available.

According to Wasiullah, “The shoes are fixed with ultrasonic sensor and Arduino board to keep blind people safe while they are walking.”
As for the million-dollar question— what is the price? Wasiullah shared that one pair would cost PKR 4500. However, he is currently finding it impossible to market them since he has to focus on school.
Sajid Shah, the head of KP Directorate General of Science and Information Technology, has added that they will further support Wasiullah in this project. He added that his department has a separate wing of scientists with expertise in different fields. They evaluate inventions by individuals. Wasiullah’s invention will be evaluated and then promoted for commercial purposes.

In a similar instance, a biryani ad is receiving severe backlash from the public for being unethical and wrong.

While there is no relevance between the two, the owners or the marketing team of the biryani spot located in Karachi thinks otherwise. This might be a simple case of jumping on the bandwagon. However, there are various ways to do so. BCB – Bismillah Cafe Biryani & Caterers located at the MA Jinnah Road tried to make the Squid Game frenzy work in their favor. Yet, the plan has backfired because the netizens are upset with the poor idea and execution.

A picture posted on the food joint’s Facebook account is receiving a lot of backlash. The picture refers to the Squid Game, which is changed with Biryani Game. The player is being dragged away from the biryani platter, which can have one of two meanings. Either the player is being dragged away because he doesn’t want to let it go – or he is dead after eating the biryani. In both cases, the idea seems all over the place, not to mention disrespecting the food, which goes against our morals and values.
The netizens took to the social media posts to disregard the idea and execution. While some mentioned that this was downright unethical, some explained how this had gotten seriously out of hands.
