Anita Karim: Pakistan’s First & Only International Female MMA Fighter

This is the story of Pakistan‘s first and only international female mixed martial arts fighter. Anita started practicing taekwondo at an early age in Hunza with her brothers.

Trained for just one year, when Anita Karim stepped inside the ring for the first time, within 5 seconds she took down her experienced opponent with a confident left-hand punch.

Anita did not have a female companion to train with or to compete against, so she trained with her brother and other male practitioners of martial arts under the supervision of the well-known trainer, Ehtisham Karim.

Determined to learn from her mistakes, she had a burning desire in her heart to get back up stronger and walk off the defeats like a true champion.

It was all about experience, they were not differently trained. The jabs, the crosses, and the kicks are all the same, it is just about implementing them. I have to focus a bit more on these things -Anita Karim

PSL 4: AB de Villiers Will Not Play Matches in Pakistan!

Recently, on 1st March, she walked out of the ring with a victorious win at  One Warrior Series (OWS) against Indonesia’s Gita Suharsono in Singapore.

Anita holds two other achievements under her belt including Women’s National Jijitsu Champion (PGC) and Women’s National Submission Grappling Champion (PGC).

I wanted to prove that girls can do anything, that they are not delicate or too sensitive, and it is only a perception that they are weaker. It is actually what society has fed us. – aNITA kARIM

Reportedly, Anita is the only girl training and is given no leverage, in fact, she gives the boys tough competition.

“We don’t worry about things such as hitting her lightly during training. If we are soft on her now, she will get thrashed in her fights. No one likes to be beaten, but when Anita punches me during training, instead of getting angry I am glad. I tell her that it is how you connect blows.” Ehtisham says.

We are proud of Anita and how she has been bot only battling against the other gender and emerging as the next big sports star, we also salute her for her on-going fight with society and breaking stereotypes.

Anita Karim is the example fathers and mothers in households should give their children to teach them that just because you are a girl or because you do not have proper resources that don’t3 mean you cannot accomplish your dreams.

“We had already seen how the world works and how people try to bring you down, so we did not let it affect Anita,” says Uloomi Karim Shaheen, her brother. “We were concerned how she would react, but she handled it well.”

Anita says famous Pakistani mountaineer Samina Baig is her role model, both these marvelous women belong to the same village.

I want to become an example for girls. I want to inspire them to keep moving towards their goal, to achieve whatever they want and prove to everyone that girls can do anything. – aNITA

iPhone users can now rejoice as Apple will now consider third-party batteries for repair. After years of waiting, the tech-titan has finally given update users were craving for.

This news was confirmed by MacRumors after an internal document got out. The document was obtained by three credential sources and was first reported by French blog iGeneration.

Previously, all repair workers were asked to ignore the third-party battery and proceed with service as normal, according to Apple’s internal document. This could include repairs to the display, logic board, microphones, and so forth, with normal fees applying.

Huma Adnan & UNHCR Present “Craft Stories”

In collaboration with the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) agencies in Pakistan, Huma Adnan unveiled a gorgeous fashion presentation at her home on the 4th of March, 2019. The collection called “Craft Stories” showcased the talents of refugee women in Karachi through their handcrafted bangles, earrings, and necklaces.

An advocate for representing Pakistan’s heritage and culture, Huma Adnan integrated these distinctive accessories with her latest FnkAsia collection.

Kicking off the fashion season, her solo show showcased the jewelry exclusively to UNHCR representatives in Pakistan, Ms Ruvendrini Menikdiwela, Mr. Muhammad Riaz, Ms. Karolin Elisabeth Eberle, Ms. Uzma Irum and Mr. Urooj Saifi, along with U.S Consulate members such as Darian Arky and members of the press and media.

The objective of the show was to create awareness of the work and talents of the refugee artisans with the hope that in the future, these women are able to sustain themselves financially. “We as fashion influencers are blessed to be given a platform and resources that can easily create awareness and provide long-term sustainability solutions for people,” shared Huma of her philosophy about working with the less-privileged.

To create this collection, Huma Adnan and her team provided training and imported high-quality materials to selected refugee women residing at refugee camps at Karachi’s Al-Asif Square in order for them to handcraft these unique and intricate pieces.

From choosing colors, designs, threads, and motifs to deciding on schemes and crafting techniques, Huma’s team would create a prototype for the artisans and after training them to make the first piece would hand over the task to them of completing the rest of the pieces themselves. Three of these women worked as supervisors at the camps after getting extensive training.

 

The entire showcase was inspired by the bustle and energy of the city’s old Manora Island. The handcrafted accessories by the refugees are an expression of their personal journey. The artisans share their story in the shape of each piece that resonates with the warmth and passion of its creator, fusing together a balance of quality and design.

Featured at the show was an installation of images that conveyed the overall feel of the night. Black and white images of the model, dressed in the statement jewelry, was also at the venue. The face of installation, Maha Tahiri, was photographed by Shahbaz Shazi, styled by Tabesh Khoja, with hair and make-up done by Nabila’s Salon.

The event was supported by influencers, bloggers and key media personalities. Guests that attended this show were among the top UN officials and foreign dignitaries. Actresses Hira Mani, Sara, and Noor Khan also graced the ramp, wearing stunning statement jewelry and FNKASIA attires.

Talking to Hindustan Times, Adnan Sami opened up about his father and sentiments from his friends in Pakistan in regards to the heated situation.

Yet again, Sami didn’t shy away from giving a harsh stance about Pakistanis.

It shows their desperation. Because what they’re trying to desperately do is create a narrative which they feel has been shaken by the events that have taken place recently.

He added that Pakistanis find it an attack on their ego when he praises Indian airforce.

obviously they find it very, like you said, the son of a person who used to be in the PAF, openly praising the IAF, is an attack on their ego.

Speaking particularly about his father, Adnan stated that he has his father’s blessings and his friends and family in Pakistan are aware of it.

They know that my father and I were each other’s other self if you know what I mean. My father knew me better than I knew myself. So they know that the last thing they can ever do is presume what my father would think vis-a-vis me.

They know that my father gave me his blessings and the matter finishes there. And they also know that I would never do anything without my father’s blessings, or anything which would make my father cringe.

Khan also stated that with ‘Pathan blood’ in his veins, he will remain staunch on his words and remain loyal to India.

So, therefore, today, I have my oath to India to honor. This is a very important thing in our blood that we honor our zabaan, our oath

Honda E Prototype Revealed Ahead of Debut

The search was dominated by Honda N Wgn as it was searched by 20.58% of individuals from January-February 2019.

Amongst 660cc cars, the most popular variants searched were Suzuki Alto, Jimny and Wagon R and Daihatsu Mira. The same trend was observed in January as well.

While in the 1000cc engine car variants who were the most popular were  Suzuki Cultus, Alto, and Wagon R and Toyota Vitz that won1 the leg of the race in top search.

The top searched sedans for January 2019 were Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sunny, Honda Civic and City.

The most searched hatchbacks were Suzuki models and the brand had no other competition in this category for the entire month.

While the Toyota Land Cruiser, Prado, Suzuki Jimny, and Jeep CJ-5 topped the SUV category.

In the crossover category, Toyota CH-R, Honda Vezel, HR-V, and BMW X1 Series dominated.

While most of these trends seemed to remain the same as in January, not many Chinese cars were of interest in this month.

Pakistan Navy Prevents Indian Submarine’s Attempt to Enter Pakistan’s Waters

According to Geo News, Pakistan Navy detected an Indian submarine attempting to enter Pakistan’s water.

However, Pakistan successfully thwarted the attempts of the Indians to intrude into the Pakistani waters.

The sensationalist Indian media has also released a statement on the matter.

Indian channel Times Now has stated that India had intelligence that Pakistan is sending ships to destroy Indian Navy’s ships.

Consequently, India defended itself by sending a submarine into Pakistan’s waters.

Footage of the submarine surfaced on social media and is now going viral. The footage shows a submarine advancing in the water.

The footage is dated for 4th March 2019 and was captured at 20:35 hours (8:35 pm).

The Pakistan Navy is always ready to guard its territorial waters and is capable of responding to any kind of aggression with full force. This great achievement has been a proof of Pakistan Navy’s superior capabilities.

A former attempt by the Indian Navy to enter Pakistan’s waters was sabotaged by the Pakistan Navy in 2016.

An unsuspecting submarine was detected and localized south of Pakistani coast on November 16, 2016.

Despite its attempt to remain undetected, the submarine was being monitored by our naval officers and tracked by fleets. It was forced and pushed out of our nautical territory.

The Ministry of Foreign Affair is now adapting and shifting from manual document attestation to digital services to improve the current system.

Reportedly, the Ministry has launched a Quick Response (QR) Code for attesting documentation at their headquarters. This feature will soon be adopted by all campuses.

Benefits of Digital Attestation

In a first, the new QR system will not only save time but also will help prevent delays and mistakes. Not just that, the system will be able to speed-up verification processes and curb ill-practices and forged documents and false attestation.

Furthermore, the QR code will also be used to verify marriage certificates and educational documents as well.

The paperless system will be of great help to overseas Pakistanis who send their wills, power of attorney and other documents over. Plus, all information will be digitally backed for future reference and all records will be safe and secured.
