MRF Tyres ICC Men’s ODI Player Rankings: Fakhar & Shadab Achieve Career-Best Positions!

According to the latest ICC ODI Rankings, Pakistani opener Fakhar Zaman has achieved a career-best ranking to date from the series in the UAE, which ended at one-all after the decider in Dubai was washed-out.

The left-handed opener had scores of one, 88 and 65, which have lifted him six places to 11th in the latest rankings. The 28-year-old, however, will not be part of the Test squad.

Similarly, Shadab Khan has also achieved a career-high bowling ranking but will not feature in the upcoming Tests. The wrist spinner bagged six wickets in the series, including four for 38 in the second match, to vault 16 places to 24th position.

The other bowler to make an impact in the ODIs and one to look out for in the Tests is Lachlan Ferguson. The New Zealand fast bowler had figures of three for 40, three for 60 and five for 45 during the series, which also reflect in the latest rankings, in which he has rocketed 31 places to 42nd.

Shaheen Afridi, who took nine wickets in the series and won the player of the series award, has risen 66 places to sit just outside the top-100 in 118th position.

However, Trent Boult and Hasan Ali have been unable to either defend or improve their rankings.

Boult had made a dream start to his season when he took a hat-trick in only his second over. However, he managed to add just one more wicket to his tally and consequently finished in the seventh position after starting in fourth place.

Hasan, who had started the year with a number one ranking, has continued to slide. After falling three places following his four wickets, he is now ranked 13th but remains his side’s highest-ranked bowler.

You end up staring at a blank screen only to realize that your phone is… DEAD! The situation is nerve-wracking and can put even the tech-enthusiasts of people into a tight spot.

However, there is a way to revive a dead Android phone!

There are some rather simple troubleshooting ideas that you can take to identify the problem and try to fix it.

Before you take your phone to your carrier, try figuring out the problem yourself, by doing the following steps:

1. Plug in the Charger

If there is a charger near you, grab it, plug it in and hit the power button again. The battery might just be dead as it is not unheard of defective batteries losing charge abruptly.

Once the cable is plugged into the phone, it should be able to start up. If your phone has lights for notifications, this is a good way to know if the charging indicator comes on. The very least that means that the circuit from the USB to the main port is working fine.

If this works, then you might just have a broken battery, which can be easily replaced, however, if this still does not, then its time to take some drastic steps.

A flood of memes erupted on the web and some of them were pretty savage!

But Daraz came back even stronger with an epic reply to all the haters. Apologizing for the inconvenience caused due to the crash, the website offered a voucher code to make up to its customers.

A year and a half since Bilal Lashari’s reboot of 1979’s Maula Jatt encountered copyright infringement claims by the original producer; accusing the producer and director of not taking his permission before his classic film’s remake.

Mr. Bhatti recently resurfaced with a new claim that he had attained a stay order from court over Maula Jatt, however, Intellectual Property Tribunal of Lahore (presided by Judge Khalid Mehmood Bhatti) vacated the stay order in Producer Ammara Hikmat and Director Bilal Lashari’s favor months ago.

The complaint made by Sarwar Bhatti to FIA in October 2017 also led to The Intellectual Property Organisation issuing a letter following month stating that no violation of Copy Right Ordinance 1962 has been committed by Encyclomedia (Producer Ammara Hikmat’s company) and Lashari Films (headed by Director Bilal Lashari). The copyright owner/creator Nasir Adeeb and his assignees have rights to produce any new work if they desire to; thus bringing light to Mr. Bhatti’s claims and allegations over false ownership of literary rights.

Mr. Bhatti also stated that he was the co-writer of Maula Jatt in an effort to discredit the original writer Nasir Adeeb of Maula Jatt (1979) and the creator of Maula and Noori characters, who currently holds the world record for writing the most number of scripts for movies in Pakistan which is 476.

Mr. Nasir Adeeb wrote Maula Jatt (1979) as a sequel to Wehshi Jatt (1975) which introduced the character Maula for the first time. ‘Maula Jatt in London’, ‘Maula Te Nuri’ are some of the other sequels of Maula Jatt franchise all written by Nasir Adeeb.

The decision by IP tribunal (session court) has been written on the basis of Mr Nasir Adeeb being the only constant factor between all Maula Jatt movies ever made, all having different directors and producers each time.

The characters, dialogues, and story fall under literary rights and hence belong to the writer. The film directed by Bilal Lashari has a new screenplay and is a new film altogether, therefore, no copyright infringement has taken place.

In the latest update 2.18, users can find the stickers option next to the emoji and GIF icons.

So far, only one sticker pack comes pre-installed with the update. However, built-in sticker store gives options to download more varieties of stickers from the Google Play Store.

Some third-party sticker apps are also available but they lack quality and variety, but since we’re talking about variety, why not create your own stickers and use them?

Here are a few easy steps that can help you achieve just that!

How to Send Stickers on WhatsApp

Requirements

  1. The latest version (2.18) or above of Whatsapp
  2. Working internet connection

Step 1- Create an Image with No Background

How to create WhatsApp Stickers

The first thing you need to do is capture your images with the expressions you want. To do that, open your camera, take some nice photos, convert them to PNG file format with no background and then add them to WhatsApp.

In order to convert your images into PNG format with a transparent background or no background, here’s what needs to be done:

  1. Open Google Play Store and search for background eraser App
  2. Now, open any image you want to convert into a Sticker
  3. Erase the background and crop accordingly
  4. Save the image in PNG format (only format supported by WhatsApp for stickers)

Note: At least 3 images should be created as WhatsApp only allows a sticker pack with 3 images or more.

One of the upcoming Pakistani movies, Parey Hut Love is making rounds everywhere due to its star-studded cast. The flick slated to be released on Eid-ul-Azha 2019.

Helmed by Asim Raza, the director of Ho Mann Jahan, Parey Hut Love is a coming-of-age romantic movie, starring some of the A-list celebrities including Sheheryar Munawar, Maya Ali, Mahira Khan, Nadeem Baig and Hina Dilpazeer.

Plot

The story of Parey Hut Love revolves around a guy (Sheheryar Munwar) who is carefree and afraid of commitments when it comes to relationships. His life will take a twist when he meets a strong-willed, gorgeous girl (Maya Ali) and falls in love with her.

Mahira Khan, who was supposed to play the lead in Parey Hut Love but couldn’t due to her busy schedule, will also play an important role in the movie.

Sheheryar and Mahira, both starred in Ho Mann Jahan and 7 Din Mohabbat In. It will be a treat to watch them together again because their on-screen, as well as off-screen chemistry, is worth drooling over.

Netherlands Resumes Visa Operations in Pakistan

The Kingdom of Netherlands has now resumed all the consular and visa related services a few hours after suspending it.

In a statement on Monday morning, the Dutch embassy said that it had halted visa operations “due to circumstances beyond our control”.

Later, the ambassador of Netherlands to Pakistan, Ardi Stoios-Braken tweeted about he resumption of consular and visa services in Karachi, Lahore, and Islamabad.

 

Turkey’s Visa-on-Arrival Policy Ends for 100 Nations

Earlier, the Dutch website ‘Netherlands and You’ reported:

“the issuance of visa(s) for Pakistan has been halted temporarily.”

It further stated:

“As soon as this situation is solved, appointments for visa applications can be made through the visa application centers of VFS Global in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi.

The Ambassador of the Netherlands to Pakistan also clarified on Twitter that the Netherlands Embassy in Pakistan is open while issuance of visa had been temporarily halted.

It is to be noted that back in August this year, ties between Netherlands and Pakistan heated up when a blasphemous caricature contest was being organized in Holland.

The controversy resulted in a series of protests all over Pakistan and by August 31, the Dutch government announced to call off the competition.

IBA Student Rabia Shahzad Wins Gold in Australian Weightlifting Tournament

Pakistan is blessed with many talented individuals who compete and excel at the global stage to bring pride to our nation.

One of such talented youngsters is the Pakistani weightlifter Rabia Shahzad, who has recently bagged a gold medal at the Ralph Cashman Open Weightlifting Championship held in New South Wales, Australia.

Karachi Grammar School Student Wins Bronze Medal at International Chemistry Olympiad

Rabia, who is a student of IBA, took part in the 55 kg class event and lifted 90 kg of weight, 40 kg snatch and 50 kg clean and jerk. She scored 90 points to grab the top spot and was the only female contestant to participate in the 55 kg category.

With her remarkable achievement, Rabia Shahzad has made the whole nation proud. The Federal Minister for Human Rights, Shireen Mazari also took to Twitter to appreciate this super talented young lady.

It sure is a proud moment for all of us and it’s just great to see how our young talent is emerging from various field, representing Pakistan at the global platform. But, it also calls for the need to support our youngsters and create opportunities for them to showcase and enhance their skills.

Even though Rabia was able to represent Pakistan at this International Championship but she was disappointed that the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation has not really been supportive.

Shehroz Shahid: Young Pakistani Army Cadet Wins International Award in U.K

In her post-championship media talk, Rabia mentioned how she wanted to participate in the Asian Powerlifting Championship but couldn’t do so as the federation did nothing to ensure her participation.

She said,

“The women players federation does nothing to help us participate in competitions.”

Rabia added,

 “Even the government does not help us. Whatever we do we do it on our own. The Pakistan Olympic Association needs to take action against the federation.”

Earlier this year, Rabia Shahzad won a silver medal in the Asian Classic and Equipped Bench Press Championship held in Dubai. We wish her good luck for all her future endeavors.

In the latest edition of the UN’s World Happiness Report, Finland tops 155 other countries when it comes to well-being, as measured by metrics like income, healthy life expectancy, social support, freedom, trust, and generosity.

Overall, the results of this year’s top 10 list have changed little in the last two years, with the exception of a bit of shuffling: The top 10 positions are held by the same countries, including Norway, Denmark, Iceland, and Switzerland, which round out the top five spots.

Pakistan Beats India and Other Bordering Nations

Pakistan ranks rank 75th out of 156, leaving behind India (133), Afghanistan (145) and Iran (106).

One of the most obvious commonalities shared by nearly all those countries? They’re located in the upper Northern Hemisphere and experience cold, wintry climes.

The report is based on the pooled results from Gallup World Poll surveys from 2015-2017.

New this year, researchers also looked at the well-being of immigrant populations living in 117 countries and found that the top 10 list mirrors the results of the overall list for world’s happiest countries.

Finland, for example, tops the list of countries with the happiest immigrant populations as well.

“The most striking finding of the report is the remarkable consistency between the happiness of immigrants and the locally born,” said co-editor Professor John Helliwell of the University of British Columbia, Canada in a statement.

“Although immigrants come from countries with very different levels of happiness, their reported life evaluations converge towards those of other residents in their new countries. Those who move to happier countries gain, while those who move to less happy countries lose,” though the adjustment of happiness is not complete, as migrants still reflect in part the happiness of their birth country.

The country to mark the biggest gains in the overall list is Togo, which jumped 17 places from 2015, when it landed at the very bottom of the heap.

Venezuela recorded the biggest decline in well-being, and the US dropped four spots from last year to 18th spot.

Alibaba, the Chinese e-commerce giant, earned a total $30.7 billion from orders on Sunday during its annual “Singles Day” shopping frenzy, the platform earned just $8bn within 12 minutes.

The world’s biggest 24-hour shopping event, celebrating its tenth year, kicked off early Sunday and once again shattered its own sales mark as Chinese online buyers seized on promotions to snap up everything from electronics to clothing and housewares.

Sales rose 27 percent, compared with 39 percent last year.

Capitalising on the growing addiction to one-click smartphone payments in China, it has proven a huge success.

But Alibaba earlier this month lowered slightly its full-year revenue forecast, citing consumer uncertainty over the economic outlook.

According to a notification released by the Government of Punjab, school winter vacations 2018 will begin in the last week of December.

The notice about the holiday schedule reveals that the vacations will begin from 24th December to 31st December.
