The youth of a country are the pioneers of the future and if they are trained well, they have the power to achieve their potential and make valuable changes in the world.

Pakistan, has a very large youth population, currently with the largest population of young people in its history.

A report, issued by UNDP earlier this year, revealed that out of the total population, 64 percent is below the age of 30, and 29 percent is between the ages of 15-29 years.

If these numbers are used to estimate the total workforce, the future looks brighter than ever. But then, it also necessitates the urge to create more job opportunities because a major proportion of our youth is currently unemployed.

Unfortunately, our education system focuses more on theory than on practical, a major reason why half of the unemployed population have no idea what they can do with their talent and skills.

These young people should be counselled about possible career choices whilst talent and creativity need to be identified. What’s more, they should be given opportunities and platforms, so they don’t end up disappointed and frustrated losing hope with unattainable dreams.

Importance Of Youth-Based Initiatives for Pakistan

There is a dire need for nationwide positive youth-based initiatives where our talented youngsters can unleash their brilliance and help in building a better future for Pakistan. The right opportunities can help in employment and alleviate the economic condition of Pakistan.

Since the majority of our youth is engaged on digital media, initiatives through these platforms attract a massive audience and should be used productively.

Very few youth-based programs had been organised in the past on TV providing participants a chance to perform and present their skills in front of large crowd.

PTI First 50 Days: Progress So Far

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has completed its first 50 days in Pakistan as the new government.

This is the first time in the history of the country where a former-cricketer has been elected as Prime Minister.

Previously, the PTI government had shared their 100-day manifesto and launched a tracker where the citizens of Pakistan could keep track of what promises have been met and what remains to be done.

In a nutshell, the last 50 days for the new government and PM Imran Khan have been no less than a rollercoaster ride. PTI had its ups and downs, and there came several unwanted bumps and U-Turns in the way.

PM Imran Khan to Launch Five Million Housing Project

The following is a list of achievements PTI has accomplished under its governance in ‘Naya Pakistan’

1. Two Planes Added in PIA fleet

2. Three new route Trains added in Railway

3. About 100 factories reopened in Faisalabad

13. Healthcare up to Rs 5 lac under Prime Minister National Health Program.

14. Dam fund ownership taken over … funds jumped from Rs 1.8b to 4.7b.

16. PM House conversion into Research University.

17. Austerity drive – saving billions in just 45 days.

18. Envelope-free govt offices. No ads given to any preferred media houses.

19. Reforms in Postal offices.

20. Radio Pakistan deficit being reduced.

21. PTV made non-governmental controlled with two members from each of the other major parties included in the board.

22. Sale of luxury and surplus cars with the PM.

23. Supported Army and ISI various initiatives against terrorism.

24. Effectively pursuing Kashmir cause.

25. Size of Official delegations reduced substantially and counting some more every passing day.

Although this is a notable achievement despite the bumps PM Khan and PTI faced, other political parties have still criticised their work.

The PTI government is completing its 50 days on Friday and people have seen a drama of U-turns, while the cabinet has come up only as a ‘comedy of errors’ as one minister makes a statement on one issue, while the other gives clarification on his cabinet colleague’s statement

We feel the country is being run by a trainee pilot who is making the poor people of this country go through political summersaults

One minister gives one statement, while another makes a U-turn on that statement. Minister for information, who has virtually become minister for abuses and apologies, says one thing, one day, only to be contradicted by his own cabinet colleague the next day. – PPP Information Secretary Dr Nafisa Shah

On the other hand, Khan’s supporters, his party, and a majority of the youth still believe and have trust in Imran Khan. They consider him a ray of hope and are willing to go through some trouble as long as the outcome in the long-run is fruitful for the country and its nationals.

Sony Pictures Networks India (SPN) has been announced as T10 Cricket League‘s official broadcast partner.

It is a three-year period starting from the 2018 edition onwards.

The T10 League sanctioned by the International Cricket Council (ICC) will be shown live on SONY ESPN and SONY ESPN HD channels in India, Ten Sports in Pakistan, Ten Cricket in the Middle East & North Africa and shall also be streamed live on their digital platform SonyLIV.

Global Internet Shutdown Reported for 2 Days

Seems like we won’t be having an internet service active over the weekend. According to reports, there will be a global internet shutdown as the main domain servers and related network infrastructure will be undergoing routine maintenance.

According to a Reuters report published in Russia Today, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will be carrying out maintenance work. They will be modifying the cryptographic key that protects the Domain Name System (DNS).

The aim of this move is to combat rising cyber attacks incidents.

In a statement, the Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) said:

“To further clarify, some internet users might be affected if their network operators or Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have not prepared for this change. However, this impact can be avoided by enabling the appropriate system security extensions”

Hence, users will face issues to access various resources and loading of pages. They will face internet crash with error messages about a “server failure”.

What’s more, users with an outdated provider might have issues with access to the network.

However, according to ICANN, only 1% of the world’s internet will experience the internet crash, but still, that’s approximately 36 million people.

#MySuzukiMyStory: Suzuki Hosted a Grand Ceremony for the Winners!

Suzuki Pakistan threw a grand ceremony to congratulate the winners of the #MySuzukiMyStory campaign on 26 September 2018.

Senior members of Pak Suzuki’s management were present at the ceremony including Mr. G. H. Agha (GM – Marketing) and Mr. Takumi Takahashi (GM – Motorcycles).

The brand initially started season 1 of the campaign back in April when they had all automotive enthusiasts hooked.

The #MySuzukiMyStory encouraged car fanatics to share special moments between themselves and their vehicle or the Suzuki brand. More than 200 entries were received with car fans sharing their beloved Suzuki memories.

The first prize was won by Ali Ahmed.

Three winners were awarded the Suzuki GR150, GR150SE and Suzuki GD 110S respectively, along with a shield and gift hamper for each.

Sheesha Bars in Karachi Are in Trouble AGAIN!

Additional Inspector General of Police on Thursday issued a notification seeking action against Sheesha bars in Karachi running illegally in the metropolis.

The letter stated that despite repeated requests for action, Sheesha is still illegally served in various restaurants, eatery houses, and hotels.

Pakistan Government Bans Commercial Use of Sheesha Smoking

It is to be noted that the government has prohibited the use of Sheesha even in smoking zones in 2015.

It has been observed that a large number of café bars, restaurants and hotels in Karachi are serving Sheesha to the customers especially youngsters which contains hundreds of potentially dangerous substances which is not only dangerous for human health but also violation of directives passed by supreme court of Pakistan regarding ban regarding ban on Sheesha Bar, in 2015.

He further added that strict directions should be given to the lower staffs of the restaurants who are involved in serving Sheesha.

You are hereby directed to issue stricT directions to your subordinate staff to start crackdown against Sheesha bars and take action against the persons involved and report progress.

PSQCA had started monitoring several brands from the time period of 3 months (July-September). The report was then submitted on Wednesday with the final conclusion.

5 Water Brands Declared Unfit for Consumption [View List]

The report further claims that all these brands were found contaminated with chemicals and traces of microbiological elements. ‘Plus Piyaas’ in particular was found to have high levels of Arsenic i.e. 15 ppb exceeding PSQCA’s standard of 10 ppb.

This can lead to several complications including skin disease, kidney disease, diabetes, heart disease, hypertension, birth defects, multiple types of cancer, black foot disease, and others.

On the other hand, Elayan Plus, Crystal Maya and Aqua Saad were found to be highly contaminated with microbiological content which can lead to Diarrhea, Hepatitis, Typhoid, Cholera, Dysentery, and other diseases.

Pure It was also found to have massive traces of Fluoride. The PSQCA bottled water quality standard for sodium is 50 ppm and for fluoride is 0.7 ppm.

PSQCA had acquired 118 samples from various cities including the capital Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Bahawalpur, Rahim Yar Khan, Tandojam, Quetta and Karachi.

To further monitor and improve the quality of drinking water across Pakistan, the government along with Ministry of Science and Technology has designated this task to Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) for quarterly monitoring all brands with their results.

Karachi Police Officers Warned Against Harassing Young Couple For Nikahnama

Karachi police have now instructed by the city’s police chief, Dr. Amir Sheikh, to not harass couples by asking for their marriage certificates.

On Wednesday, a notification has been issued by the Karachi police chief that a strict action will be taken against officers who would harass young couples.

Strange Smell in Karachi: Mystery Revealed!

According to the letter, many residents of the metropolis have filed complains that policemen in mobiles and motorcycles ask about marriage certificates from the young couples which is humiliating.

There is a general complaint that policemen in mobiles and motorcycles harass and humiliate couples by asking them to show ‘Nikahnama’ to prove their credential as husband and wife.

The letter further warned that if the concerned authorities receive further complaints, then a strict action will be taken against them.

You are hereby directed to issue strict instructions to staff not to demand Nikkah nama from any person. In further such complaint shall not be tolerated and action against supervising officers will also be initiated.

Famous TV anchor Rabia Anum has hinted towards a leading comedian and social media celebrity of being a harasser.

A number of harassment allegations have come up in recent time against many reputable people after the successful initiative of #metoo movement and this is the latest one.

Rabia Anum, who works at Geo News and hosts the popular TV show Lekin, took to Twitter and spoke on behalf of several young girls who have accused the comedian of harassing them and then pressuring them to stay quiet.

Strange Smell in Karachi: Mystery Revealed!

Residents of Karachi have been complaining about a weird and disgusting smell that has taken over the metropolis.

The citizens are wondering what is the cause of the sickening odor and are taking to social media to solve the mystery of the stink in the city.

The officials at WWF, this time last year, had revealed the reason behind the stench in the air and muse that environmental factors are responsible for it!

According to them, the decay of small planktonic dinoflagellate called Noctiluca Scintillans (also known as Sea Sparkle) has caused this stench.

It is expected that the strange smell citizens of Karachi are experiencing is due to the same cause.

Meanwhile, Facebook page ‘Weather Updates PK’ gave an explanation behind this concern. According to them:

Last year, the page added that there is a high humidity warning due to LLC.

“Due to a developing Low-Level Circulation (L.L.C) High Humidity Levels are likely to effect Karachi and adjoining areas in next 24 hours and will continue for 48 hours (30th – 1st June-17) under its influence Temperatures may Rise up to 37’C – 40’C (seasonally hot temperatures).”

“Whereas feels like temperature may rise up to 45-46’C in Karachi. (This is the main concern). Humidity levels may rise up to 60-75%, on the other hand, the Sea Breeze will cut off gradually from tonight for next 2-3 days, therefore, WUPK predicts chances of heat stroke to the human body are up to 70%.”
