TikTok is one of the most widely recognized applications around the world. The application has created a massive wave amongst individuals of all walks of life.
Recently, the Beijing-based company Bytedance, the parent company behind TikTok has extended its growth list with a collaboration tool called Lark, an instant messaging application called Feiliao, and even a music streaming application.
Now, the word on the street is that Bytedance is working on developing and manufacturing its very own smartphone!
The Financial Times, while citing two sources, reported this news. Although the Bytedance spokesman refused to comment, rumors are expected to be true. Bringing out a smartphone in demand will help the company earn revenue to compensate for their loss in China.
According to TechCrunch, there were hints which suggested Bytedance is working on a secret smartphone as the company confirmed in January that it has acquired certain patents and some employees from phone maker Smartisan to “explore the education business”.
A source told the Financial Times that Bytedance founder Zhang Yiming “has long dreamt of a phone with Bytedance apps pre-installed.”
We have reached out to the company for an official comment.
