Careem’s Latest Campaign Sparks A Debate on Social Media!

Careem Bike Promo

Careem is known for its witty and smart marketing campaigns that usually display out-of-the-box creativity.

However, the brand took a very different twist in their latest campaign to promote its Careem Bike service.

The billboard reads ‘apni shaadi se bhaagna ho tou Careem Bike karo!’ (If you want to run away from your own wedding call a Careem Bike). The billboard also had a girl all dolled up for her wedding who is ready to become a ‘runaway bride’.

While some have called the campaign light-hearted humor and creative, others have called out the brand claiming that they have stepped to an all-time low by promoting such actions. The copy used goes against the cultural values and traditions and encourages unconventional behavior. On the flip side, it does raise the issue of forced marriages.

Umar Majeed, the Founder, and Owner of HonexTech, Doughlicious, and Nutright shared the image on a Facebook page by the name of Khalid Alvi Marketing Next (KAMN).

Bitcoin NOT to be Legal in Pakistan: Asad Umar

Bitcoin Pakistan

There is news in the air that Pakistan might finally make Bitcoin trade legal.

However, Pakistan’s Finance Minister Asad Umar has denied the claims of the legalization and said the rumors are not true as per TechJuice.

Several countries in the world have accepted the crypto-currency while many have declared it illegal.

Asad Umar was said to have been considering giving the green signal to the government of whether or not Bitcoin trade should be allowed in a report by Business Recorder (BR).

Bitcoin Halal or Haram: Islamic Scholar Finally Breaks Silence!

On the other hand, in order for the blockchain to be legalized, a minimum of 5,000 coins is required to be registered.

After the coins have been registered, they will be classified as ‘investment’ along with all net gains (which will be taxed). This will establish a national task force to monitor the flow of all crypto-transactions and will help bring this form of business as a formal tax regime.

Reportedly by BR, Asad Umar had taken in to notice about crypto-currencies being used for tax evasions. Sources have shared with Business Recorder that one of the top intelligence agencies has given the minister some recommendations for the way forward.

Irrespective of the option GoP adopts, ie, declaring crypto-currencies as legal or illegal, a robust oversight mechanism (mapping, investigation, and prosecution) will have to be put in place as soon as possible – Intelligence Agency

As of now, it has also been reported that there are approximately 5,000 individuals involved in this kind of exchange through illegal activities. They are scattered in over 100 cities and are growing in numbers by up to 400% per year.

Furthermore, the report claims that the finance minister has reportedly asked for relevant ministries and departments to sensitize the issue until desired results are archived. The following recommendations (way forwards)  have been suggested:

  •  Declare Crypto-Currency Legal
  • Registration of Crypto-currency exchanges and individuals
  • Classification of Cryptocurrencies
  • Develop a virtual currency strategy
  • Monitor all crypto-currency actions

CEO of Dine Brands Global Steve Joyce shared:

My commitment as CEO of Dine Brands Global was to return it to a growth company, and our international development is certainly a major component of that growth.

Mikaal Zulfiqar Opens About Being Tricked in India

Mikaal Zulfiqar

India and Pakistan are not on good terms and have been throwing barbs at each other after the Pulwama Attack.

After the incident, the Indian Government decided to impose strict censorship on Pakistani content in India and even banned our artists in Bollywood.

As soon as the news surfaced on media, a number of celebrities on both sides of the border also reacted and many believed that politics and art should be allowed to remain separate.

Zara Noor Abbas Opens Up About Being Body-Shamed by Brands

Recently, the Sherdil actor Mikaal Zulfiqar also expressed his views on the current tension between India and Pakistan and opened up about his experience in Bollywood.

While exclusively talking to Very Filmi, Mikaal Zulfiqar, who has worked in 3 Bollywood films, said that India has always been misusing Pakistani artists and has been putting them into controversies.

When I signed “Baby”, i specifically asked them whether there was anything against islam or pakistan, and they said there isn’t when in fact the whole film was against them both. as i wasn’t in the first half of the film, i had no idea about the script and only learned about the anti-pakistan thing when the film released.

After that, I decided to work only in Pakistan rather than in Bollywood as we do not have any respect there.

He further added:

They always put Pakistani artists on trouble. We all remember how Veena Malik was put into a controversy when her cover photo was released with the ISI tattoo on her arm.

The actor further said that he is a proud Pakistani and loves working in his country where he earns respect from his fans.

Asim Azhar & Hania Aamir’s Relationship: Business Goals or True Romance?

On the professional front, Mikaal Zulfiqar is all geared up for his upcoming movie titled Sherdil featuring Armeena Rana Khan, Hassan Niazi, and Sabeeka Imam. The film is slated for release on March 22 and we are sure that it will work its magic on the box office.

Pakistan Super League Receives Appreciation for Hosting a Successful Tournament

Pakistan super league

Amidst the craze for cricket, the joy of victory and successful management, Pakistan Super League (PSL) came to an end with Quetta Gladiators being the champions of the five-week-long tournament.

Clearly, PSL 4 emerged organized, professional and confident, proving to the world that it can host international cricketers despite serious obstacles. The event was being held at a crucial time when Pakistan-India rivalry was at its peak.

Not to forget, the attack on two mosques in New Zealand and the death of 9 Pakistanis in the attack too shook our nation.  A minute’s silence was observed before the closing ceremony began in memory of the 50 people who lost their lives.

Sprite Dominates Cricket Fever in Pakistan!

Indeed PSL has accomplished a successful feat and the whole world is witness to the fact. The biggest triumph was indeed for Karachi, which had the honor of hosting all the matches in the city.

The tournament is receiving heaps of praises from not even Pakistanis but international personalities as well.

Major General Asif Ghafoor lauded PCB, the rangers and police for pulling off this herculean task.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Fawad Hussain too lauded all citizens for standing up with Pakistan in this tough time.

However, its the appreciation from the ICC CEO David Richardson that stands out from the rest

Imam-ul-Haq Apologizes Over Misbehaving with Shane Watson!

Imam vs Shane Watson

Pakistan won last night as Quetta Gladiators took the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 4 trophy home! While Karachi and Pakistanis stood proud of the achievements and applauded the efforts by our Army and Ranger officials.

However, Peshawar Zalmi’s batsman Imam-ul-Haq is now facing severe backlash for his disappointing performance for his team and the insult he showed to senior and former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson.

Ahmed Shehzad and Shane Watson were the opening batsmen from Quetta’s side who were brought in to chase down a target of 139. However, after they reached 19-0 in the third over, Watson was the first one to return back to the box after being run out.

He started to walk back to his team when Imam-ul-Haq, known for being the nephew of Inzamam-ul-Haq exchanged heated words with the senior player.

However, it was Shane Watson whose team walked away with a glorious win and sent a message to Imam and the other Zalmis that this time it is the Gladiator’s era! Nonetheless, social media disliked Imam’s actions and bashed the young man on different platforms.

Following the backlash, Imam has now apologized for the whole episode.

He stated:

“My reaction to Watson’s inappropriate abusive comments was avoidable, for which I apologize”

Meanwhile, Shane Watson has tweeted a heart-warming farewell tweet!

Sprite Dominates Cricket Fever in Pakistan!

Industry giant, The Coca-Cola Company, is without a doubt, one of the most renowned global beverage corporations that has repeatedly proven its position as a market leader.

From being just a caramel-color elixir in 1886 to a leading beverage juggernaut, Coca-Cola has become the fifth most valuable brand in the world.

The success of the company is credited to its extensive product portfolio, global operations, vision and in developing a strong presence where its target market gathers for fun.

Globally, The Coca-Cola Company has associated itself with food, music and sports, emerged as a powerhouse aiming to increase consumer value.

Coca-Cola’s Historical Bond With Sports

We all know that Coca-Cola and sports share a historical relationship, an association so close that it dates back to nearly a century.

Over the years, it has been able to consistently make inroads in the sports industry with multiple partnerships in the dynamic sphere including the London 2012 Olympics and FIFA World Cup.

In the sub-continent, Coca-Cola reaped major glory by being the official sponsor of the 1996 World Cup, held in India and Pakistan. So much so, this milestone encouraged the company to helm the Sharjah Cups aka Coca-Cola Cup for three years consecutively from 1997-1999.

From the year 1999, the beverage giant explored more in the realms of food and music, producing powerful platforms like Coke Studio and the ever-growing, Coca-Cola Food and Music Festival. However, the company’s temporary distance from cricket did not affect its market share.

Coca-Cola Making it Big in Cricket Yet Again

For some time, Pepsico remained the only brand in the subcontinent with major cricket sponsorships under its belt.

However, Coca-Cola has now successfully re-entered the territory and made its mark in the area, deepening its connection with cricket.

Taking Pakistan Super League (PSL) Fever to New Heights with Sprite

This year, Sprite sponsored four PSL teams; Karachi Kings, Quetta Gladiators, Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United becoming the official ‘thirst quencher’ for the cricket leagues.

The brand announced the major feat in an avant-garde event in Karachi, attended by industry veterans like Waseem Akram and Zaheer Abbas.

What’s more, in an impactful marketing move, Sprite brought in the popular sports presenter Zainab Abbas as the brand ambassador for their PSL campaign.

A charasmatic personality, Zainab has been synonymous with the adrenaline-pumping event since its inception. Consequently, her ambassadorship with Sprite is bound to bring in exposure for the brand.

Upping the ante, Sprite has released a star-studded TVC, featuring the true stars of Pakistan’s cricket – Hassan Ali, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shadab Khan, Faheem Ashraf, and Imad Wasim.

The outcome of their PSL marketing campaign has been spectacular, generating unique engagement with cricket aficionados.

To engage the audience even further, Sprite rolled out exciting contests under Pass The Phadda campaign for fans to avail final PSL tickets.

It required the PSL lovers to upload a video of them playing cric-tennis with their friend for 1 minute straight without dropping the ball.

Making it even more exciting, Sprite roped in international cricketers with the massive fan base in Pakistan to promote the campaign.

Joining Forces With International Cricket Council (ICC)

The winning shot for Coca-Cola was becoming the official sponsor of ICC. The company has become their exclusive non-alcoholic beverage partners until 2023, including the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup in summers of 2019.

This deal has strategically helped The Coca-Cola Company to develop a long-term relationship with cricket. It will use the strength of its diversified portfolio of over 500 brands to expand the sport’s footprint globally

If truth be told, the beverage titan has amplified the affinity and loyalty it has with its target market with Sprite’s partnership with PSL.

However, this is just the start. The company has already planned a lot in regards to cricket in Pakistan. Let’s see how Coca-Cola and Sprite’s resurgence becomes a harbinger of change for the passionate sport in the nation.

From gold ensembles with delicate floral work to velvety ghararas and traditional bright red bridal ensembles, her collection left everyone awe-struck and wanting more.

iPhone 6 & 6 Plus to Officially be Cancelled by Apple?

Apple iPhone 6 and 6 Plus

In a turn of events, The Economic Times has reported that technology titan Apple will cancel the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The report also states that the brand will also increase the current price-tags of their iPhones.

On the other hand, entry-level iPhones are comparatively cheaper to afford, which is why for most individuals they are the go-to ones.

This will leave the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus as the bottom rung and, in India, the prices will increase as well.

WhatsApp Is Banning Some Users, Here’s Why!

This decision will help Apple reinforce the brand’s ‘premiumness’ in the markets in India. Apple India shared that iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus will be 5,000 rupees more expensive than the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, but their prices will not increase.

The Economic Times also reported that Apple will pull iPhones from the shelves from any retailers smaller than 350-400 square feet in size in order to have bigger stores focus and push the more expensive variants.

This strategy is something very different than what we have seen Apple do with the Chinese markets. The brand has slashed their prices multiple times in order for the consumers to buy them.

There is uncertainty if this strategy in India will be of any help, increasing the price of their entry-level set will demotivate a consumer, probably not motivate one.

On the other hand, there is no official comment on the brand’s side yet.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has fully-insured the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2019 leg. The comes after the roaring confidence from the board of generating good revenue from hosting matches within the country.

The tournament is nearing its end as the final match will be played on March 17th at National Stadium Karachi.

The board wants to keep a backup plan if in case, God forbid, an incident occurs. Reportedly, the board will receive a contracted amount if something does happen during the last couple of matches.

So much so, PCB will also be compensated if any match(es) in Karachi is called off i.e due to rain, cancellation due to unforeseen circumstances, etc.

A source has shared with another local website that PCB is claiming that the board is delighted with the support and love they have received in the city as they are getting a full house audience.

They have also generated a hefty amount of money as well, which will then be distributed amongst all of the franchises.

Pakistani Government Website’s Security Compromised!

Pakistani website hacked

A Government of Pakistan’s website has found to be compromised by Trustwave’s SpiderLabs Research team.

The website tracking.dgip.gov.pk is a sub-domain of Directorate General of Immigration & Passport of the Pakistani government.

Reportedly, the site which is used as a tracking platform for passport applicants was compromised in order to deliver a  ScanBox framework payload.

The ScanBox framework is a self-contained JavaScript-based keylogger designed to record users’ keystrokes while they’re browsing a website.

India is Reportedly Planning a Cyber-Attack on Pakistan!

Trustwave researchers noted that Scanbox also attempts to identify if the visitor has any of the 77 products (including security software, virtualization, and decompression tools) installed on the device, according to HackRead.

Trustwave’s SpiderLabs Research team that discovered this breach added:

It was then seen again in 2017 suspected to be used by the Stone Panda APT group, and once more in 2018 in connection with LuckyMouse. With every appearance, it seems to have evolved in terms of the kinds of information it gathers.

The Platform Also tried to detect whether the visitor has any of a list of 77 endpoint products installed, most of these are security products, with a few decompression and virtualization tools.

This is the same kind of attack that last week Bangladeshi Embassy in Cairo suffered.

It is unclear who is behind this attack as of yet. However, this is surely not the first time when Pakistan’s IT infrastructure was compromised.

Last year, the country was hit with waves of ATM frauds and scams and a lot of money was stolen from many individuals. Even their information was sold on the dark web.
