#MeToo: After Jami, Sharmeen Obaid Also Decides to Reject Her Award

Jami Moor has always been known for speaking up against genuine issues openly and unapologetically, when other celebrities carefully select when and when not to speak up.

A storm was stirred on the internet when Jami threw his LSA Award on the street in protest of Ali Zafar being nominated for Best Actor in LSA 2019, and many other celebrities followed suit.

Jami Throws Away Lux Style Awards In Protest

In a conversation with fashion journalist Mohsin Sayeed, Sharmeen Obaid revealed with utmost clarity that she would also send away her Lifetime Achievement.

Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy

“I don’t care for an award and a brand that doesn’t care about women”, she said frustratingly.

At this point it is important to notice that many celebrities who had condemned harassment during LSA were present at the awards ceremony, which falls under hypocritical behaviour.

Very recently Jami had also pointed something similar out in light of the Mohsin Abbas Haider controversy, saying that mostly celebrities only stad against something for their own political gains.

Netflix’s Stranger Things Star ‘Eleven’ has a Pakistani Lookalike!

After #ImamulHaqExposed, Spotlight Falls on Afridi!

Imam-ul-Haq (nephew of Inzamam-ul-haq, veteran cricketer and PCB member), the 23 year old Pakistani international cricketer became the second batsman for Pakistan, and thirteenth overall, to score a century on his One Day International debut against Sri Lanka, Imam.

However, he has been caught in the eye of a social media storm since yesterday for an unexpected reason: cheating allegations.

https://twitter.com/LalaLoyalist/status/1154009804161069056

Here is what a Twitter user wrote about Imam:

“So apparently Mr. @ImamUlHaq12 was dating 7 to 8 (that we know of) women and kept using them and manipulating them. He kept telling them the whole time how he’s single. Some of the screenshots attached from girl 1,”

And that’s where the story took off! More testimonials against him began to appear.

However, as we wait for a statement so we can see his side of the story, social media has began turning its wrath towards another cricketer: the 19 year old Shaheen Shah Afridi.

He is a Pakistani professional cricketer who plays as a fast bowler for the Pakistan national cricket team. He made his international debut for Pakistan in April 2018 and his Test match debut for the team in December 2018.

He is being alleged for establishing romantic relationships with several girls simultaneously.

People have begun counting him in the same league as Ali Zafar, Ukhano, and Mohsin Abbas Haider.

It seems that the account exposing Shaheen happens to be one of the accounts that exposed Imam.

However, what makes this barely-begun case more controversial already is that people have started calling the Twitter account (who tweeted about exposing Shaheen Afridi) fake.

After getting called out for being fake by so many people, the person has deleted or deactivated their account.

We await official statements from Imam-ul-haq, Shaheen, and the PCB after official investigation into the matter.

Have anything to add to the story? Let us know in the comments.

Little Big Town Returns to Packages Mall!

little big town

Earlier this summer, Packages Mall announced the return of its flagship activity for kids, Little Big Town, a place where kids not only have fun but also learn important lessons that help in developing their social, moral and ethical responsibilities.

Parents, finally had the opportunity to shop with ease, while their kids were busy exploring the many wonders and mysteries of Little Big Town.

This year’s Little Big Town boasted all the activities from the previous year and brought in some new ones for children to enjoy.

The unique ‘Fun, Learn, Earn’ experience was further enhanced as kids got the chance to step into the shoes of adults by role-playing different professions such as; a doctor, a grocer, a magician, an artist and many more.

The entire activity was designed to help them develop self-confidence and a sense of responsibility, preparing them for the future.

Inside the town, kids were made to experience a virtual life, where on entering they were given a sum of money which they could spend, save or multiply by performing various jobs being offered at Little Big Town.

little big town

Their cognitive skills were tested and trained as they calculated the possibilities of using the money given to them, while also evaluating the kind of results their decision making would bring.

After earning their hard-earned money, the children had the option to spend it on either leisure or household activities.

They could either play golf, go dancing, or even get their nails done. While a supermarket provided them with practical household goods to spend their money on. This gave them a sense of what it is like to achieve sustainability with limited resources while trying to achieve maximum results.

Once again, Little Big Town was hugely successful and was loved by children and parents alike. It will be exciting to see what new ideas Packages Mall plans to bring forward for the next edition of Little Big Town.

She further requested everyone to update her with all the knowledge regarding Pakistan.

Fans want her to bring Nuseir Yassin, aka NAS Daily along with her. She had earlier stated that they had tried to get the visa a year ago but failed.

Staying positive, he collected images and videos through the internet and made the video hoping to visit Pakistan one day.

In terms of tourism, Pakistan is a hidden treasure left unexplored by many, including those living here. More people need to explore the land and it’s always a delight when foreign travel bloggers decide to visit Pakistan.

NAS Daily has been dating Alyne Tamir who is also his travel companion and appears in a majority of his videos. She also manages her own vlog titled Dear Alyne which tackles several topics such as feminism, sexism, materialism, vegetarianism, consumerism, female empowerment and, obviously, travel.

Karachi Biennale Aims to Reduce Carbon Footprint of Large Exhibitions and Events with Sustainable Design

kb19

The footprint we’re leaving on the environment is extremely toxic for us and the generations to come.

It is imperative that we understand the impact of our jobs, the events we attend, the festivals we go to in order to save the planet we live in, as events yield a lot of waste and leave a large carbon footprint.

According to meetgreen.com the typical conference waste attendee produces 1.89KG of waste per day, 1.16KG of that will go directly to a landfill. When you calculate that number for 1000 attendees over 3 days you get 5670KG of waste, the equivalent of 4 compact cars.

Karachi Biennale Trust invites Swiss architect, Nele Dechmann, to lead a session titled Altering Logical Systems – A Spatial Exploration through Architectural and Curatorial Practices followed by a panel on Cases in Spatial Sustainable Design by Karachi based architects Shahid Khan, Khadija-tul Kubra and Ahmed Mian on July 28th from 3:15 pm to 6:15pm at the NJV School auditorium.

The keynote speaker session is part of the tripartite project on sustainable design led by Nele Dechmann.

This consisted of a roundtable discussion with eminent Karachi based architects, artists, and scholars.

A two-day workshop with students and young professionals from the field of architecture who will develop a toolbox for sustainable exhibition design to reduce waste and the carbon footprint created by large public events.

This is an eco-friendly initiative of KB19, the green Biennale, in which one hundred artists will focus on ecology. Karachi Biennale Trust is working in multiple fields to promote awareness and practical ideas regarding sustainability.

This project is in collaboration with Swiss Arts Council Prohelvetia to make this workshop a yearly phenomenon so that sustainability and eco-friendliness are inculcated into the practices of event design at large and exhibition design in particular. NJV School has generously lent its space for this project.

Ahmed Mian is one of the few LEED® accredited practitioners in Pakistan, Khadija tul Kubra is Principal Architect at Design Options

Shahid Khan is the CEO and founder of the poverty alleviation NGO Indus Earth Trust Pakistan

The Karachi Biennale Trust (KBT) that was founded in 2016 by a group of visual art professionals and educators as a dynamic platform to promote creativity, innovation and criticality in the visual arts.

The Karachi Biennale is the flagship project of KBT. Its vision is to create a public audience for art and its projects offer a chance to revisit Karachi’s past, recognize its contemporary challenges and contribute to an optimistic reimagining of its future.

Each iteration of Karachi Biennale has a theme that is relevant to the host city. Flight Interrupted the theme of KB19, the second Karachi Biennale is centered around the impact of urbanization on ecology.

Mohsin Abbas Haider Fired by Dunya TV After Domestic Violence Allegations

The storm created after Mohsin Abbas Haider’s wife Fatima Sohail coming out with her #MeToo story does not look like it will calm any soon.

Mohsin’s wife Fatema Sohail took to her social media accounts and revealed the horrific details of her abusive relationship with her husband and his fans were left totally shocked.

Shockingly, a number of celebrities like Humaima Malick, Gohar Rasheed, Dua Malick, and Haroon Shahid also stepped forward and said that they have witnessed Mohsin Abbas Haider torturing his wife.

The Man Who Brought Mohsin Abbas Haider into the Industry Breaks Silence on the Matter!

Moreover, almost every Pakistani celebrity took to their social media accounts and raised their voice against domestic violence.

Today, Dunya TV channel took to their social media to announce that they had ended any and all associations with Mohsin Abbas Haider in light of recent events.

The actor had been working as a DJ at Dunya news show called ‘Mazaaq Raat’ and gained much popularity from there.

Most netizens seem in favor of the decision and are appreciating it.

“These Mangoes Can Cause Cancer” says Punjab Food Authority and Bans Them

mangoes can cause cancer

Pakistani mangoes are loved and demanded not only in Pakistan but all around the world.

Not only are they deliciously sweet, they are also great for health and the skin!

Which is why not only is it encouraged to eat them, but mango pup can also be used in masks for hydrated, glowing skin.

5 Reasons Mangoes Should Be Part Of Your Skincare Routine

However, news has surfaced that, in order to start maximizing profit in the mango season as early as possible, farmers usually pick green mangoes and put small packets of calcium carbide in the crates before sending them off to the market.

By the time the crates reaches the market sellers, the mangoes have ripened and are ready to be eaten. However, that does not mean that they should be eaten.

With carcinogenic properties, Calcium carbide is a highly reactive chemical. In some extreme cases, it can even be dangerous enough to cause cancer, ulcers, and respiratory problems.

Karachi’s Farmers are Producing Vegetables Using Poisonous Water

Therefore, keeping these health risks in view, Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has imposed a ban on the consumption of artificially ripened mangoes.

It has also been suggested that, instead of Calcium Carbide, farmers should use ethylene gas which acts as a natural means of ripening fruit.

Will this news make you more careful about the kind of mangoes you purchase next?

Jami Lashes Out at Celebrities Supporting Mohsin Abbas Haider’s Wife!

A number of celebrities including Mahira Khan, Hira Mani, Iqra Aziz, Hania Amir, Yasir Hussian and Saba Qamar have started speaking up against Mohsin Abbas Haider for the abuse allegations put on him by his wife, Fatema Sohail.

While both Mohsin and Fatema have conducted press conferences of their own to clarify their side of the story, they have also both sworn on the Holy Quran to make their stories more credible.

The Man Who Brought Mohsin Abbas Haider into the Industry Breaks Silence on the Matter!

Most of the people seem to be supporting and speaking up for Fatema and not for Mohsin.

It is good to see the kind of support she has been receiving from celebrities, social media influencers and government authorities alike. So much so that Dunya TV has fired Mohsin from their channel.

However, some people have pointed out how many of these celebrities chose to stay silent when Meesha Shafi and Ali Zafar’s case was all over the place.

Jami Moor, famous Pakistani filmmaker for example, has lashed out at these supporters for being hypocrites.

According to Jami, many of these celebrities were aware of Mohsin and Fatema’s situation, yet they did not speak up earlier.

They also did not speak up when Meesha came up with her #MeToo story against Ali Zafar, because they did not want to ruin their position in the industry by opposing a big, influential star like Ali Zafar.

In essence, Jami’s point is that most celebrities condemning Mohsin Abbas Haider’s abusive inhumane behaviour are only doing it because it is safe and makes for good Pr for them.

Pak Suzuki Will NOT Cut Down Production

Pak Suzuki

Due to the massive decline in demand for automotive vehicles, Honda Atlas and Indus Motors Company decided to cut down on the production of cars.

Pak Suzuki was expected to follow in the same direction, however, the brand has assured that they are not doing anything like that.

Suzuki has clarified that the brand has no plans to cut production units for July-December 2019.

The manufacturer has a target of producing 76,000 units in the given period. During the first 6 months of the year, they successfully rolled-out 60,000 units.

Furthermore, the brand also clarified that it has no intentions of cutting off any vendors or suppliers during this designated period as well.

However, the other two leading automotive manufacturers, Honda as well as Toyota decided to hold back on production after the introduction of higher taxes under the new Federal Budget of 2019-20.

Honda announced it will keep its plants closed for 10 days, while Toyota will close the shutters for 8 days ( 2 days a week).

Unlike these dominating auto giants, newer players like AL-HAJ FAW and United Autos will not feel the pressure as they do not have a bigger share of the market, yet.

Nonetheless, it is a positive sign for Suzuki. Not to forget, less production and days off mean job cuts for approximately 150,000 employees.

We hope the condition of the automotive industry gets back on track.

Supreme Court Orders to Seal a Mall Illegally Built on a Plot Meant for a Hospital!

It has been recently reported that, upon orders from the Supreme Court, Officials of the Building Control Section, Estate Management, and enforcement directorates carried out an operation on a mall in Pakistan during which they partially sealed the mall.

Sealed areas include food courts, basement, and the management offices.

The Man Who Brought Mohsin Abbas Haider into the Industry Breaks Silence on the Matter!

Nine years ago, a plot that was meant for a health facility was bought by an investor as a commercial plot and was later granted permission by development authority officials to construct a mutiple-story mall on the plot.

In 2013, the plot was declared illegal and those officials were prosecuted and sent to jail.

Therefore, over the weekend, the Safa Gold Mall Capital Development Authority (CDA) has been partially sealed, leaving investors worried about losing the billions of rupees they had invested.

NAB has also been contacted to investigate whether this is a case of corruption.

The owner of the mall, Rana Abdul Qayyum, however, is no where close to guilty. Here is what he has to say about the situation:

“My review petition has been admitted by the Supreme Court against earlier observations passed by the honorable judges in a case which was not about Safa Gold Mall.”

Arguing that CDA is the one at fault for allowing him to buy a plot which had been meant for a hospital, he further added:

“The chairman CDA had misrepresented the facts in Supreme Court in the absence of the aggrieved party, and it is our right to go for the review,”

Do you agree with Supreme Court’s decision to seal Safa Gold mall, or could it be just another way for authorities to make money?

Buyer’s CNIC Now Required on Purchase Over Rs. 50,000

cnic

Registered sales tax sellers are now required to retrieve buyer’s CNIC if the amount exceeds over Rs. 50,000 according to a new notification circulated by the Federal Board of Revenue.

Female buyers can use the CNICs of their husbands or father when making the transactions. The reason behind this new rule is to document all business to business transactions in order to identify transactions and their nature.

The FBR has also issued a clarification to provide details about the amendments made to the Sale Tax Act. The new amendments have been made mandatory for buyers to provide their CNIC on the transactions.

Reportedly, 41,484 sales tax registered individuals pay tax with returns. Furthermore, if a purchase involves a sales tax registered person, the CNIC number of the buyer will be necessary for some specific situations.

FBR also clarified that the allocation of the CNIC doesn’t mean that a buyer needs to be a registered person under the sales tax law. Sales can be made to the unregistered individuals as well.

The board clarified if under any circumstances the seller is given an incorrect ID, the individual will not be liable to any penalty. No action will be taken against the seller if the error is identified after the transaction was carried out in good faith.

In order for the FBR to take any action against a seller, they will require permission from the chief commissioner of the jurisdiction. For transactions over Rs. 5 million, the action will be taken only after the member of operation or a director-general approves it.
