The hype of the Noor Mukadam case has somewhat faded away much to the disappointment of Noor’s family. On July 20th, Noor died brutally, allegedly at the hands of Zahir Jaffar. She was assaulted, raped, murdered, beheaded, and her dead body and head was kicked around.

Probably that is why Zahir Jaffer was arrested on-site and has stayed in physical and judicial remand ever since. But when more trending incidents occurred like that of Minar-e-Pakistan, the Noor Mukadam case took a backseat. The decreased interest by the public – could that have delayed justice? We do not know. But Noor Mukadam’s sister sure has spoken up.

The sister said that while they are going through unimaginable loss, they want to ensure, no other family has to endure similar suffering. For this reason, they have arranged for a candlelight vigil in front of the Islamabad Press Club from 4:30 pm to 7 pm on September 22, right before the hearing. The idea is to register support for the cause so that authorities take swift action against the accused.

Having a vigil right before that tells the authority that we have not forgotten Noor. This is more of a reason why a huge crowd needs to turn up. The larger the crowd, the more the impact.

Considering the amount of loss, Noor’s family has faced, it is empowering to see the family stand firm in the face of the rich and the powerful, and stand their ground. As they stay and protest against delayed justice, hopefully, action will be taken. And when it does, it will serve as a reminder to all the potential Zahir Jaffers who have the tendency to exploit their privilege. They will have to think a thousand times before committing criminal acts. But to get there, we need to do something now!

We need to rally behind the family of Noor Mukadam and register our voice against crime. In case we choose to not do it, even now when Noor is beheaded and her killer still alive, then the death of the next Noor Mukadam will be on us.

List Of Ongoing Infrastructure CPEC Projects You Need To Know About

For the past few years, the highlight of Pakistani news content has been CPEC (China Pakistan Economic Corridor). However, now, most CPEC Projects are completed or are near completion and it is beginning to dawn on people how advantageous it is for Pakistan. Today, we have assembled a list of infrastructure projects under the CPEC umbrella.

Ongoing Projects

1. Peshawar-Karachi Motorway (Sukkur-Hyderabad Section)

Back in 2016, the Multan-Sukkur section of the motorway went under construction. With speedy work, it was completed in three years and was inaugurated on 5th November 2019. But the entire motorway is not yet built. Weirdly, its Sukkur-Hyderabad section was not yet looked upon. Asad Umar has now approved the bid document for the missing link which will soon be floated in the market.

The other five sections (Peshawar-Islamabad Motorway, Islamabad-Pindi Bhatian Motorway, Faisalabad-Multan Motorway, Multan-Sukkur Motorway, and Karachi-Hyderabad); are already operational.

2. Khuzdar-Basima Road N-30 (110 km)

The Khuzdar Basima road has witnessed more than 67 percent completion. Interestingly, the estimated cost at the time of feasibility calculation was PKR 19.19 billion. All the documentation work seems to have been completed, only the physical work continues to be in operation.

3. Upgradation of D.I.Khan (Yarik) – Zhob, N-50 Phase-I (210 km)

Another important CPEC project, D.I. Khan-Zhob road (210km) stands approved. The authorities have submitted the loan application. PC-I was approved, and the contractor mobilized. Asad Umar mentioned recently that the project’s funding has been allocated in the PSDP 2021-22.

4. KKH Thakot-Raikot

Thakot-Raikot Road is a section of Karakoram highway. The project is still ongoing. In fact, the Minister for Planning has indicated that the responsible parties should submit the project proposal to the cabinet this week to move it further.

5. Expansion and reconstruction of existing Line ML-1

Lastly, Mainline 1 (ML-1) which is the railway line connecting Peshawar to Karachi, is set to expand and undergo reconstruction. For now, the status update is that Pakistan requires a loan from China for the project. While the Chinese party intends to give loans in RMB, Pakistan wants the loan in dollars.

That said, there are a number of completed CPEC projects. Of course, more completed projects are in the energy category. But the authorities have completed tons of infrastructure projects as well. Should they stay on this track record, Pakistan will soon be on the way toward gathering benefits from both hands.

Patrol robots will be stationed everywhere to observe and monitor the site. They are equipped with an HD facial recognition camera, have a real-time thermo camera and also an SOS button. These bots will be on 24-hour duty to remind visitors of safe practices such as social distancing.

4. Attendant Bot

These metallic bots are the attendant robots: they will be responsible for showing you the way to your designated destination. These special bots are powered with the ability to display images, text, audio and video for visitors to access and receive necessary information.

5. Delivery Bot

Helpful bots! Delivery bots will carry goods and other things around the site. They have been specially designed to carry out a task-based deployment. These bots can also use voice recognition to respond to your questions.

6. The Vending Trolly

These are other kinds of special robots that can be fitted with racks to carry visitor guides or give you reading materials or maps. They are also trained to carry poster frames, baskets, and catering trays. However, they are not powered with any facial recognition or voice-resembling features.

7. Barista Yanu

At Expo 2020, you will have the luxury of sipping on coffee that is served by a robotic arm called Yanu. This metal barista is powered by AI and is ready to serve you drinks. Don’t worry, it is also super entertaining, full of jokes that it can tell you!

If you have been a pro gamer, you might know the importance of gaming equipment and furniture. While IKEA covers a massive range of furniture and accessories for home and office use, they are now stepping into the gaming world as they collaborate with ASUS. The Swedish company is all set to launch an exclusive range of chairs, desks and gaming accessories. The “gaming range” collection is coming out next month.

IKEA’S New Collection

The collection includes more than 30 Ikea gaming products in total, arranged across six product families. However, only one of these product families, Uppspel, contains products designed in collaboration with ASUS. The rest are Ikea originals with designs “based on the insights and knowledge gained from the collaboration to meet the various needs of gamers,” the retailer says.

The accessories include a range of gaming chairs and tables and accessories, including a customised pegboard for gamers. More accessories include headset stands, mug holders, ring lights and mousepads.

Pricing starts at $6.49 for the most affordable item, a mouse pad with a polyester top layer, and goes all the way up to $599 for an adjustable gaming desk.

The First Look

The first look at the collection shows the furniture pieces which are somewhat similar to their previous groups. However, they are given an upgrade to black colour to make them look sleeker.

Withdrawal of the New Zealand Team

The New Zealand cricket team, meanwhile, arrived in Dubai early Sunday after leaving Pakistan. However, the officials have not given any details of the security threat that forced them to abruptly cancel their tour. Official Statement of New Zealand

New Zealand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday said it alerted NZC to a “credible, specific” security threat to the New Zealand team.

“New Zealand agencies have provided ongoing and consistent advice that Pakistan remains a high threat security environment, as outlined in the New Zealand government travel advisory for Pakistan which notes there is a significant threat from terrorism throughout Pakistan,” the ministry said in a statement.

You start seeing the hidden message. You start observing minute details in it. And then gradually you start reading between the lines and I don’t just mean in the television shows.

Pakistan And UK Travels

Now that Pakistan is off the red list, people can resume air travel to the UK. Firstly, the country has allowed the entry of citizens who are administered with five of the following vaccines,

Moderna
AstraZeneca

The WHO has approved the use of Sinopharm and Sinovac but these are not on the list of approved vaccines for the UK. Mandatory hotel isolation at a high cost is no longer a necessity. However, people travelling to the UK with any vaccines, not on the list, will be put in seld isolation.

Some Additional Procedures

Passengers will no longer need to take Pre-departure tests (PDTs) and a lot of the testing cost has been reduced as well. This applies to the fully vaccinated passengers. Passengers who test positive will be made to take a PCR test and it will be checked as to which variant it is. However, those who are not fully vaccinated will receive PDTs as well as day 2 and day 8 PCR tests. The self-isolation period will end when the test to release is cleared.

The government of the UK has advised people to be vaccinated in their resident country before heading for the country. It seems that these changes signify a simplified system that does even cost too much for a majority of people. Despite there being hefty procedures and protocols, a lot of the stuff is now simple. You just have to make sure that you are fully vaccinated. However, if it is the Chinese vaccines, prepare to be isolated upon arrival.

Standard Chartered has inaugurated its first branch in Saudi Arabia. The ceremony was held virtually. Leading the ceremony was Fahad Almubarak, governor of the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA).

Officials from Standard Chartered Bank and the Saudi Central Bank’s international clients were also present.
