Breakout Enjoys a Day with Children at SOS Village

breakout

“Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do,” John Wooden has rightly said these words that if you cannot make someone’s whole life better, try making their few moments better but never stop trying.

One can never go wrong about the idea of starting a sweltering day with a beautiful sight of two hundred happy faces roaming around.

Yes, once again, Breakout has surprised us with an extremely kind gesture by sharing their happiness with the kids that probably deserve the most.

The idea that has always hit me while making a distinction between an orphanage and an old age home is to decide who is more unfortunate; the one who doesn’t have parents or the one who was abandoned by his/her own child.

breakout-kids

Well, the reality is, it is impossible to measure a misery but it is not impractical to get them out of it.

So, the more it is, the less it will always be. Just like kids in our home, every child demands constant attention no matter what place he or she belongs to.

In order to set a beautiful example and to fill up colours in a few beautiful lives, a few years back, Breakout came up with a wonderful idea of taking kids of SOS village out for a whole day to get them clothes and a meal of their own choice.

Isn’t it a beautiful idea to share happiness with the ones who cannot do it in their own capacity? The point of highlighting this event is to appreciate this effort and to make it a paradigm for others to do the same.

There were two hundred kids that were taken from SOS, Faisalabad to this largest outlet of Breakout present in Faisalabad. One could feel the happiness on their faces that everyone has while buying clothes.

The variety of clothes perplexed all the kids about which one would be the best pick. After exiting the outlet, the kids headed to the nearest Mc Donald’s. Well, who doesn’t love food? Since food is happiness, one could sense the excitement and positivity around.

Every child had their own favourite item. That’s how their day ended. Now, everyone would think about stuff like “how a meal and a dress can change the lives of these kids,” Right, that would not.

But, it will give them the confidence of being as important as any one of us, make them feel inclusive and give them the sense of acceptance from society by providing them with the opportunity to enjoy these activities that every other child would like to be a part of.

Breakout has not only started a trend of being courteous and kind to the society, it has also given a lesson that each one of us is important and each one of us has a right to enjoy the facilities equally. Here is to hoping that all other brands keep the tradition intact.

Muharram Collections by Pakistani Brand: Where Faith Meets Fashion

muharram collections

Muharram is a month of mourning for the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of the Holy Prophet (PUBH)

As a mark of respect for this grieving period, Muslims, largely the Shia community, scale back from everyday activities and don black and white clothing to indicate that they are in mourning.

Over the past few years, several brands have adopted the trend of releasing a special clothing collection after Eid-ul-Adha to cater to the rising demand for black and white clothing during this significant Islamic month. While many of these collections may not be labeled as Muharram Collections specifically, it is no mystery who their target audience is.

Tarzzさんの投稿 2018年9月1日土曜日

This has drawn in arguments both in favor and against the promotion of this targeted collection on social media. While the majority claims that the collections disrespect the sanctity of the period of mourning, there are many who have commended the brands on providing them with a convenient option.

For every rise in supply, there is a matching rise in demand!

It is not only the brands that are to be held responsible for this rising trend but the consumers themselves. Consumers seek to buy more monochrome clothing and tailors are swamped with stitching clothing for Muharram. In this scenario, it is only natural that supply will try to meet rising demand.

These black and white fashion finds will leave you looking trés chic every second of the day. Graphique unstitched,…

Sapphireさんの投稿 2018年9月5日水曜日

From a brand perspective, there is a need to provide fresh designs to consumers and the black and white collections merely add value to the brand by stepping in to meet consumer demand.

The collections have been launched before Eid-Ul-Adha this year to provide sufficient time for consumers to fulfill their shopping requirements before the month of Muharram begins.

On reaching out to a popular fashion brand, we were told

“There is a big market for these collections and where there is a demand there will be a supply.”

Several consumers find this trend to be convenient. Where they would earlier have to find cloth and have it stitched to attend majlis, they can now simply purchase a ready to go piece from these collections without any trouble or fuss.

However, the general reaction has been an uproar with people vocalizing their disapproval towards the brands labeling it blatant capitalism. Individuals largely agree that this trend treats Muharram as a celebration and a period of festivity where they can go shop and have a good time rather than grieve as their religion and culture dictate.

The pitfalls of commercializing Muharram are that people are now more concerned with material things such as clothing and showcasing branded items as if on a runway rather than the grieving.

Major brands have come under heavy fire for releasing black and white “Muharram” collections.

At the end of the day, whether or not this rising trend is sustainable lies with the consumers and how they react to the collections being offered to them. They may either choose to appreciate the convenience of having brands offer them this option or they may choose to boycott the brands for commercializing the mourning period.

When it comes to sensitive subjects that include religion, especially in our country, there is always a fine balance and can be challenging for brands and marketeers. Brands may need to reevaluate their communication so as to maintain the balance making their products beneficial to both the consumers and the brands in the long term.

Positives to Look at the Asia Cup 2018

Asia-Cup-2018

Pakistan may not have been a regular when it comes to winning the Asia Cup but this time they are one of the favourites to lift the title, for a variety of reasons.

For one, the current team is a fine mix of youthful exuberance and a semblance of seniority.

As a fan and an ardent follower of this game, I’d like to itemize the advantages Team Pakistan may have in the upcoming tournament.

1- Day Games in the UAE

Surprisingly the tournament has been scheduled at 9 am UAE time, which will give the teams winning the toss an advantage on its own. We all know how the wicket will behave early morning and with the bright white new cherry (leechee in this case), teams bowling first will certainly have the upper hand.

Team Pakistan, with their genre of fast-men, will ideally be suited in bowling first and skittering out the opposition for meagre totals. It’ll be good to see ‘them earrings in the daytime’ – bless you Henry Blofeld.

2. The Emergence of Fakhar, Shukar!

An enforcer was so badly needed, especially, in the top order. In Fakhar Zaman, Pakistan has found the ideal man. He is recklessly efficient, yet purposeful.

What he does is and hopefully will do this tournament is get the bowlers out of their comfort zone with his repertoire of high percentage shots, coming down the track even to the new ball and his on-side range/shot selection has vastly improved.

Important will be for Pakistan if Zaman manages to stay in when the opposition spinners get to a bowl because he loves playing against the slow bowlers. Out and out, a formidable advantage and a big player if Pakistan plans to move forward in the tournament.

3- Hitting Power in the Lower Middle Order

Teams of the past were blessed with hard-hitting options with the likes of Abdul Razzaq, Azhar Mahmood, Moin Khan and Wasim Akram coming in late in the order and propelling what seemed like unattainable scores for the opposition.

Pakistan is now blessed with world-class hitters like Asif Ali whose inclusion has given the side the dynamism it was missing; with the six-hitting talent of Faheem Ashraf and the street-smart tickles of Shadab Khan, Pakistan is poised to do well either batting first or even chasing down an improbable score.

One must not forget the talents of Shoaib Malik and skipper Sarfraz Ahmed, as they too have developed long handle prowess and are dependable like the rest of the batsmen in the side.

4- Athletic Fielders in the Inner Circle

Shadab Khan at Point, Imam ul Haq at Cover, Shoaib Malik at Extra Cover and Babar Azam in the slips has a feel-good ring to it. Many games have been lost on ordinary displays in the field. Catches dropped, run-outs missed, Singles given have resulted in a decrease in the win ratio percentage.

Pakistan will be competing with fine fielding sides in the shape of India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, so they will have to bring themselves to their level; with all respect to Afghanistan, they are a very efficient and athletic bunch of lads as well.

5- Not taking the Mickey, of Arthur!

Gone are the days when Mickey Arthur would lose to the players on discipline; he has managed to blend and hone the skills with an Afrikaner work ethic which seems to have rubbed well on the side.

Following his tactics closely, Arthur usually concentrates on the basics which are (i) limit the extras, (ii) cut the singles, (iii) build partnerships, a fine mantra for cricket. Furthermore, he rarely focuses on the stars in the team, his motto always being from Remember the Titans. Let’s wait and watch if Mickey can be King Midas again.

6- Of course, the Bowling!

Let’s get to the real strength now. Blessed with a pentagonal force of fine fast-men, the bowlers can really come into their own early and extract reverse swing if Pakistan is defending.

There is a lot of talk on the importance of spinners during this tournament, but I believe we should rely on the fast bowlers, so they can destroy any side with the help of reverse swing.

The arid nature of the tracks will help Hasan Ali and Usman Khan Shinwari while Shadab Khan will lead the spin department that also has Shoaib Malik in the line-up. Over-dependence on Muhammad Nawaz may go against our aggressive policy.

There is still time before we embark on the 14th edition of the Asia Cup, and the above will eventually take its course, I for one cannot wait.

Female RJ Resigns From Samaa After Claims of Alleged Harassment

However, she discontinued hosting the show this week and the reason for her absence has finally been revealed. In a week-long Twitter tirade, Tehreem accused the radio channel of ignoring her complains of alleged harassment in the workplace.

On September 3, Tehreem took to Twitter and stated she is no longer airing programs for Samaa because of harassment and discrimination.

A day later, the RJ resigned from Samaa FM claiming that the management did not bring the culprit to book.

She added that it has been two weeks since she filed the complain and no notice has been taken of the matter.

Muneeba claims that CCTV footage from the harassment incident inside the studio has also been deleted by the officials.

Clearly disappointed with Samaa’s silence on the matter, Muneeba highlighted that raising voice against harassment is a challenge for women in Pakistan.

However, she seems determined on seeking justice on the matter until her harasser gets penalized.

Suzuki Mehran VX, VXR Officially Discontinued!

Update: As we announced earlier, Suzuki Pakistan will be officially discontinuing their Suzuki Mehran VX. Earlier on Thursday, the company via a soft-announcement claimed that it will cease production of their low-priced Mehran from next year.

This move was taken by the company to promote the launch of a new brand with modern-day features in order to tackle their Chinese competitors.

As of now, the company has planned to produce 4,574 units of Merhan SB-308 VX and 19,247 units of SB-308 VXR. This makes 33% of the company’s total production which sums more than 144,000 units (which the company produced in 2017/18).

Management of PSMCL Pak Suzuki Motor Company Limited has decided to discontinue Model SB-308 Mehran from April 2019. Consequently, 23,821 units will be produced from September 2018 to March 2019.- PAK Suzuki

Suzuki Mehran

However, analysists have shared that this decision comes as a shocker to customers who are looking to purchase an affordable car according to their price range. One of the biggest competitors which Suzuki and their new brand will have to face is United Auto’s Bravo Hatchback which is expected to launch this month.

United Auto Bravo Hatchback Launch Date Announced! [View Images]

That’s not all, for local brands like Honda, Toyota, and even Suzuki, United Auto is not the only competitor. Asides Chinese brands, they will get a tough time from Kia, Renault, and Hyundai as well as they are to unveil cars to meet the robust demand in the market.

“It might be part of a cannibalisation move as the company planned to rev up its Alto model (with 660cc). But, the price of imported cars gets double after heavy duty structure.” -Mohammad Shahzad, Car Dealer

The decision to stop the production of the Suzuki Mehran VX was taken by the company in December 2017, according to one of the officials.

“The last order from suppliers for imported materials must be done in accordance with the stock available at supplier’s premises, orders in pipeline and stock at PMSC,”

“The suppliers who are using local materials are also advised to strictly follow the firm orders of PSMC before the placement of last order for procurement of local materials.” – Pak Suzuki

We have now to see how these brands compete with one another while trying to meet ongoing demands from customers in the markets.

Known to be the ‘King of the Roads’, Suzuki Mehran VX has dominated the streets and markets of Pakistan for decades!

Mehran is one of the most loved vehicles in the country because of its economic convenience.

Suzuki Mehran Wins ‘Best Car’ Title in Pakistan!

However, Suzuki Pakistan has now decided to discontinue the car. The manufacturer sent a notice to the dealers reading;

“Dear valued vendor(s), Management of PSMCL has decided to discontinue its Model SB308 only version VX(Mehran) from end November 2018. In view of above, it is important to note that all the respective local parts should be produced and supply according to schedules to be sent to you on monthly basis for remaining production plan of 6734 units to be produced from June 2018 to End November 2018.

To avoid surplus stock available at vendors ends after models discontinuation, all valued vendors are advised the following:

  1. The last order from the vendor for imported materials must be done in accordance to the stocks available at vendor’s premises in pipeline and stock at PSMC
  2. The vendors who are using local materials are also advised to strictly follow the firm orders of PSMC before the placement of last order for procurement of local materials”

This year, Suzuki sold 30% more units as compared to sales in February 2017. It was then suspected that the company might not discontinue the car, however, it has now been officially announced.

5 Moments from Pepsi Battle of the Bands Finale That Made it Unforgettable

pepsi battle of the bands

Pepsi Battle of the Bands 2018 grand finale was aired last Sunday. The riveting competition has finally come to an end and we will miss seeing the weekly episodes.

The season gave us eight weeks’ worth of amazing musical memories and unveiled a diverse pool of talent. Yet again, Pepsi has done a stellar job at promoting Pakistan’s music through the band culture – now revived and appreciated.

The passionate journey that began with more than 400 bands has drawn to a close with soulful Xarb and the powerful Bayaan.

Pakistan voted for their favorite band and we must admit that the final decision was tough to bet on! The last episode was nothing short of brilliant and kept us on the edge of our seats from the beginning to the end.

Let’s take a quick look at the best moments from the grand finale that made the episode a night to remember

1 ) Strings leaving us awestruck with a new version of ‘Yeh Hai Meri Kahani’

We have all been fans of the band’s iconic track that was featured in Bollywood movie ‘Zinda’.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTyi06oorFE

For the BOB finale, Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood improvised the gripping melody and we bet the song will be on a loop in your playlist!

2) Meesha Shafi’s taking us on a spiritual ride with ‘Mein’

All those who follow the songstress on Twitter would know how excited Shafi has been for her new release.

The best part about the musical piece was the use of Tibetan singing bowls in the rendition.

With their magical sound, Meesha and the band gave us goosebumps as they performed the mystical melody.

The track has gone viral on social media in no time and is being called Meesha’s best tune yet!

3) Shahi Hasan bringing Junaid Jamshed’s Legacy Alive

J.J along with his band ‘Vital Signs’ were the ones who set the bar for pop and rock music in Pakistan.

His band member and Pepsi Battle of the Bands music producer and mentor, Shahi Hasan seized the chance and recreated the icon’s patriotic tune ‘Maula’.

Watching his band perform the evergreen piece and dedicating it to our homeland, may have been a proud moment for Junaid Jamshed.

4) Fawad Khan Wowing us with a Phenomenal Original

The heartthrob effortlessly stole the spotlight in the show as he set the stage on fire with a rare melody  ‘Satrangi’.

Dressed in white, Khan and his band delivered a grand musical routine, complete with the beat of drums, dhol and ‘daandiya’’

5) The moment when Pepsi Battle of the Bands winner is revealed

We have seen Xarb and Bayaan battle it out in musical war zones various times in the past few weeks. We could not have been more proud of them as they performed for the final time in the season.

Bayaan made us fall in love with them all over again with their moving number “Sab Nahin Milta”

Meanwhile, Xarb rocked the stage with their groovy tune “Kashmakash”

And then came the nail-biting moment, we all had been waiting for! The hosts announced the winners of the Pepsi Battle of the Bands Season 3 and we finally came to know who was Pakistan’s most voted.

The winning band is none other than ‘Bayaan’.

Hinal Altaf’s Leaked Clip With Faisal Rehman Ignites Social Media Frenzy

Ali Gul Pir Slam Atif Aslam in an Angry Facebook Post!

atif alsam

Atif Aslam is on a roll in Bollywood.

Just in the last two months, the singer has released as many as five tracks for Indian movies, all of them receiving rave reviews and becoming chartbusters in the neighboring country.

Hinal Altaf’s Leaked Clip With Faisal Rehman Ignites Social Media Frenzy

His song ‘Paniyon Sa’ from the soundtrack of John Abraham starrer ‘Satyameva Jayate’ was an instant hit! The singer created magic with ‘O Meri Laila’ in the movie ‘Laila Majnu’

Atif’s melody ‘Dekhte Dekhte’ from Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming movie ‘Batti Gul Meter Chalu’ is a mesmerizing tribute to Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. The recent love anthem by the singer ‘Tera Hua’ is all that Indians are talking about.

The sensation also dared to croon Lata Mangeshkar’s classic song ‘Chalte Chalte’ from the Bollywood movie Pakeezah and created a fresh rendition.

https://youtu.be/WOCCPqFeReE

However, Lata was pretty miffed with Atif Aslam singing her iconic tune.

In an interview with IANS, the songstress slammed the remix and revealed that no consent was taking while tweaking the track.

“I don’t want to hear it. This trend of remixing old songs saddens me. Where is the creativity in simply lifting acknowledged, beloved classics and shuffling the notes around? I’ve even heard that the lyrics are changed in the remixes. By whose consent?

“The original poets and composers wrote what they had to. Nobody has the right to tamper with the creativity of these great composers and lyricists.”

Meanwhile, B-town playback singer Babul Supriyo is known for his animosity with Pakistani artists working in India.

In a statement, the singer-turned-politician also blasted Atif for trying his tryst with the song.

“With due respect (and disrespect) to Atif Aslam, as a singer myself, I will observe a 2-minute silence to mourn rather than offering a comment.”

And now, Pakistani singer and comedian, Ali Gul Pir too has slammed Atif Aslam for not producing Orignal music.

Make a remix of a hit song and try to get famous or sustain your career. Imagine if big wigs like Atif are doing this to stay relevant then what hope does an upcoming original act have.

In an angry Facebook post, the satirist schooled Atif Aslam that “covers can never encourage innovation”.

Via: Ali Gul Pir’s Facebook

These statements have come at a time when Bollywood itself is receiving severe backlash for ripping off iconic Pakistani tunes like Tajdar-e-Haram in the movies.

However, it is to be noted that Atif’s demand speaks volumes about his success in India, making him a singing sensation even bigger than Arijit Singh.

According to Fawad Chaudhry, such schemes will no longer be continued, however, Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) will remain functional.

The scheme was announced in the budget speech of FY 2013 – 14 and formally commenced in August 2013 with coordination and consultation with Government of Punjab.

A whopping number of 300,000 laptops have been distributed in the 1st and 2nd phase amongst the students across Pakistan and AJ&K.

200,000 laptops were again distributed amongst the qualified students in the later phases.

However, students can no longer apply for the scheme as Imran Khan’s Government has decided to abolish it.

Reforms to Revolutionize Education System

Speaking to a Press Conference, Chaudhry added that a task force will be established to revamp the education system across the nation.

What’s more, private schools fee will also be reduced and the provincial government will streamline the decision.

Basic education will be provided in madrassahs. All schools, including madrassahs, will follow a uniform curriculum.

Is It The End of The Road for Mohammad Hafeez?

Mohammad-Hafeez

In a month’s time, Pakistan’s former captain Mohammad Hafeez will be celebrating his 38th birthday and with it, he must be thinking about his future.

For a person who ruined the career of fellow all-rounder Abdur Razzaq and tried to do the same unsuccessfully when Mohammad Amir returned to Cricket by dropping unlimited catches, Hafeez has played a long inning in the Pakistan team.

He has been the part of the Tests and ODIs since 2003 and can boast of an international career longer than Saqlain Mushtaq, Saeed Anwar, Aamer Sohail and even Pakistan’s former Coach Waqar Younis.

So why is he having issues with his non-selection despite not being in the best of forms?

That is a million-dollar question especially since the Pakistan Cricket team is doing so well without him at the top.

Mohammad-Hafeez

Nike’s Controversial Colin Kaepernick Ad Stirs Unexpected Reactions

Just like Saeed Ajmal lost his mojo after changing his bowling action, Mohammed Hafeez is not the same bowler anymore and with youngsters Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim in the side and Shoaib Malik bowling off-spins when required, he doesn’t warrant a place as an all-rounder or even as a bowler.

As for his batting prowess, the team has better talent available in the form of Hussain Talat (waiting for an ODI selection), Shan Masood (in much better form), Asif Ali (hard-hitting batsman) and Babar Azam (record-breaking batsman) besides the two prolific opening batsman Imam ul Haq and Fakhar Zaman.

Will you select a 38-year-old batsman who is neither as fit as Misbah ul Haq (who went on to play past the 40s) or Javed Miandad (who was also unceremoniously dropped in his late 30s) at a time when the team is on a rebuilding phase and the standards of international cricket are changing for the better.

He might consider himself a legend but on the field, his influence is anything but positive since he drops sitters when others take stunners, he plays more defensive shots than the whole team combined when the need is to score quick runs and is still stuck in the past when anything over 250 was considered safe.

It’s about time Pakistan Cricket team needs to take strict steps and not be blackmailed by people who have done more disservice to the game than taking it forward. He might have been a good all-rounder in the day but so was Imran Khan and that doesn’t mean that he should continue to play even today because he can’t.

With the Asia Cup just a couple of weeks and the World Cup a few months away, Mickey Arthur needs to go ahead with the plan he has in his mind and I am sure that Mohammad Hafeez has no place in that, even if Inzamam ul Haq says so publicly.

Pakistan Cricket team needs team players who can win matches, not players who only score runs when their own place in under the spotlight.

Nike’s Controversial Colin Kaepernick Ad Stirs Unexpected Reactions

Colin Kaepernick

President Donald Trump attacked Nike over its support of Colin Kaepernick on Wednesday as the first video advert featuring the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback was unveiled.

Trump, who on Tuesday described Nike’s deal with Kaepernick as “terrible,” said the sports equipment giant’s endorsement of the ex-NFL star had backfired.

“Just like the NFL, whose ratings have gone WAY DOWN, Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

“I wonder if they had any idea that it would be this way? As far as the NFL is concerned, I just find it hard to watch, and always will, until they stand for the FLAG!”.

Nike revealed on Monday that Kaepernick would be at the centre of a new campaign to mark the 30th anniversary of the company’s “Just Do It” slogan.

The move was criticised by some on Twitter, with several users vowing to boycott Nike while others posted videos of them destroying the company’s merchandise.

Nike shares dipped on Tuesday but had climbed in trading on Wednesday.

Kaepernick has become a polarising figure after refusing to stand for the national anthem in 2016 in an effort to draw attention to racial injustice in America.

The 30-year-old’s protests came after the deaths of several unarmed black men during confrontations with law enforcement.

In 2017 Trump decried NFL players who refused to stand for the US anthem as “sons of bitches” who should be fired.

That, in turn, triggered a wave of fresh protests across the NFL, which remains America’s most popular major sport.

Kaepernick, who led the 49ers to the brink of a Super Bowl victory in 2013, has been unable to find employment with an NFL team since being released by San Francisco in 2017.

He is currently suing the NFL, alleging team owners colluded to keep him out of the sport.

On Monday, Nike released a promotional image for their new Kaepernick-inspired campaign which featured a black and white portrait of the player superimposed with the slogan “Believe in something. Even if it means sacrificing everything.”

On Wednesday, Nike released an advert featuring Kaepernick which will be aired during Thursday’s season-opening game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons.

The advert, titled “Dream Crazy,” has Kaepernick narrating over images and footage of various athletes with inspirational stories, including NBA icon LeBron James, tennis star Serena Williams and Kenyan runner Eliud Kipchoge.

“Don’t ask if your dreams are crazy, ask if they’re crazy enough,” Kaepernick asks at the end of the spot.
