Honda to Start Production in Pakistan!
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Azam Swati shared an interesting insight about Pakistan’s automotive sector during a question session in the Senate.
Swati enlightened everyone that new automotive manufacturers are coming to Pakistan and Honda will start local production soon. This information was shared as a response to a question asked by Senator Talha Mahmood.
the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs added that the market is booming developing despite the ongoing financial situations, although sales have witnessed a decrease due to the continuous price increase.
He furthermore shared that some of the companies have already started local production, and others are yet to follow. Some of the companies will come to Pakistan to assemble even bigger vehicles.
Honda is expected to start local production from January reportedly. This move might be to get an edge on the brands that are either coming to Pakistan in the upcoming months and to tackle the existing competition in the market.
More information about this development is yet awaited.

Rooh Azfa’s Shortage in India: Here’s What Really Happened!
The shortage of Rooh Afza in India has taken both the Indian-Muslim community and Twitter by storm.
Rooh Afza is one of the first things that come to mind as Ramadan approaches. It is also one of the widely consumed beverages by Muslims around the world for Iftaar and Sehri.
A recent report stated that Rooh Afza constitutes 95 percent of Hamdard’s exports overseas. According to Euromonitor stats from 2017, it holds a 60 percent share of concentrated beverage market domestically.
Twitteratis React to Shortage of Rooh Afza
The community has taken to Twitter to express distress owing to the absence of Roof Afza:

Reason Behind the Shortage of Rooh Afza
The reason behind the Original Red Drink, Rooh Afza’s absence is said to be a lack of raw material in Hamdard’s laboratories.

Hamdard’s History in India
During the chaos, a very informative thread also emerged on Twitter.
It explained how Hamdard was actually founded in India, and that explains India’s attachment with the drink:
The partition of India was the turning point, which went on to divide not just the family but Rooh Afza as well. Hkm Said, went to Pakistan.
— Muslim Voices India (@MuslimVoicesIN) August 13, 2016
In 1906, Hakeem Hafiz Abdul Majeed had laid the foundation of Hamdard Dawakhana in one of the bylanes of Old Delhi and in 1907 launched Rooh Afza.
Following the partition, his elder son stayed in India, while the younger son migrated to Pakistan, started Hamdard in Karachi and had launched Rooh Afza there.
Well, to tell you the truth, summer and Ramadan really are unthinkable without the classic beverage!
Rooh Afza Returns to the Markets!
Reportedly, Hamdard Laboratories has shared the news of Rooh Afza’s supply being restored in all major retail stores and grocery outlets.
Rooh Afza is now available in the market and can be bought from major retail stores and grocery outlets across the country
Actual Shortage Because of Rift and Not Supplies?
While Hamdard Laboratories had shared that the shortage was due to a lack of ingredients in the market, there are a few speculations and rumors hinting it was actually a rift that might have caused the shortage.
However, the brand rubbed the theory off in an official statement saying:
The organization urges discerning consumers and the trade not to be misled by incorrect information being circulated online and in print about non-availability of Rooh Afza.
Is Rooh Afza just as important to you, too? Let us know in the comments below!

Ehsaas Ramzan – An Exclusive Campaign by HarPal Geo
Focused on the real meaning of Ramzan, HarPal Geo has come out with the “Ehsaas Ramzan” transmission this year. Every Ramzan Geo comes up with a special motive to focus on through the holy month and leaves the audience with some new thoughts and new teachings.
Last year GEO focused on Ittehad Ramzan, but this time the inspiration is more aligned with the spirit of the month. “Ehsaas” connects all the teachings of Islam and Ramzan in a holistic way.
The program promotes a message of sharing, generosity, and patience. Geo TV’s transmission was much appreciated after its first airing on 7th May i.e. the first of Ramzan. Geo will continue to air Ehsaas Ramzan during the days throughout the month.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbizeTdDSaI
For the first time ever, Geo TV also arranged a Namaz-e-Bajama’t for more than 300 on-set people – which is a huge achievement. It also shows that their devotion towards religion and humanity is real and that they practice what they preach. There are many celebrities also that make the program interesting for the audience.
Featured personalities also include well known Islamic scholars imparting their knowledge in this blessed month. These include Allama Kokab Noorani, Naat Khawan Syed Fasihuddin Soharwardi, Doctor Mufti Imranul Haq Kalyanwi, Farhan Ali Waris and the cooking expert, Naheed Ansari.
The program has been created beautifully keeping it interesting and informative at the same time. The host and the crew of Ehsaas Ramzan cover every aspect of a normal Muslim’s life.
The show also features cooking, guidance from Ulmaa, recitation of Holy Quran and Naat as well as Islamic and general knowledge quizzes. It is informative, influencing and moreover absorbing. With the main theme of recognizing and fulfilling our social responsibility towards the community, this show is exactly what our nation as a whole, truly needed.
The idea of an OST for the Ehsaas Ramzan transmission and its purpose was another triumph for Geo TV. The song has been sung and composed by the very talented Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
The instrumental theme of the song also plays in the background during the whole transmission. The video itself is extremely deep, profound and heartwarming. The collaboration of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Geo TV is definitely going to make this Ramzan tradition stay with us for a while.
Ramzan is the most extraordinary month which provides us the opportunity to think, repent and rectify ourselves. It teaches us to be humble and kind to people who need our support and attention.
Hopefully, Ehsaas Ramzan will prove to be an educational and absorbing experience for the public this Ramzan.
Realme X Leak: Major Design Modifications Surface Online!
Realme the upcoming youth based smartphone brand that’s been creating a major buzz in the market has teased some major design modifications in the last couple of days.
Realme X may be the name of the pop-up selfie camera, notch-less display smartphone that was teased a week ago. Realme teased the phone in a video on its Weibo account that was seen sporting a notch-less display and a center aligned pop-up selfie camera.
Now, a Weibo post of the company’s CMO, Xu Qi, appears to have tipped the name of the new Realme smartphone, thanks to the social media platform revealing which phone the post was shared from.
According to Xu Qi’s Weibo post, it can be seen that it is shared using a new Realme phone called the Realme X. When translated, the smartphone is described as “Realme X full screen dare to leapfrog” which coincides with the teaser video that was shared earlier this week by the company, showing a phone with a full-screen display without any notch.
So, it looks likely that the teased smartphone in the video and the smartphone used for the Weibo post are the same and it will be releasing in China soon as the Realme X.
Speaking of the Realme X, the images of the smartphone had leaked a few days ago.
As previously reported, the dimensions of the smartphone were mentioned as 161.2x76x9.4mm, while the battery capacity would be a minimum of 3,680mAh. Up front, a large 6.5-inch display can be seen that has no-notch and it will likely carry a full-HD+ resolution. On the back, there’s a dual camera setup with LED flash along with a gradient finish texture.
Also, there’s no fingerprint sensor present at the back, which we believe, could be swapped in favor of an in-display fingerprint solution. Realme 3 Pro and Realme X are yet to get an official launch date for their release in Pakistan. With the certification listings and the teasers, however, we can rest assured that the release is going to happen sooner rather than later.
PUBG Makers to Pull the Blockbuster Game from the Chinese Market!

The makers have decided to pull the global best-selling video game, PUBG from the Chinese market. The enterprise had been offering the test version of the game in China as they were waiting for regulatory approval.
“The testing phase for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds officially ends on May 8. We thank everyone for the support they have given us so far.” its official post read on Weibo.
Furthermore, the post announced that they announced to introduce a similar Tencent-licensed title, “Game for Peace” which was given approval in April.
“Despite the simultaneous shut-down of PUBG, direct migration of user data and purchases should lower churn risk,” Jefferies analysts said.
On the other hand, ‘PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is gone’ was the most viewed subject on Weibo on Wednesday, with over 300 million clicks and close to 90,000 posts.

Apple Issues Mass Recall for Devices After Potential Threat
Apple has called a massive recall for the iPhone and other products’ charging devices. The reason behind this decision was because of the fear that the devices can shock the users.
Reportedly, Product Safety Australia confirmed reports of voluntarily recalling three-prong AC wall plug adapters sold between 2003 and 2015.
Apple confirmed, though ‘very rare’, the exposed internal components can give electric shocks to users.
The affected charging devices are reportedly working and are compatible with charging ports in the UK, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and can be used internationally when modified accordingly.
In an official statement, Apple states: “New plug adapters are white with grey on the inside portion where it attaches to the power adapter and is not affected by this issue.”
Consumers who are facing trouble with their charging device can visit the Apple Store or contact Apple Support for a replacement.

Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 Leaked: We Might Know Who Dies Next!
Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 5 leak is driving everyone bonkers!
Reportedly, both episodes 5 and 6 plot details have been leaked on social media, indicating the possible deaths of the characters, we love (and hate) the most.
Here’s what we think can happen:
Plot #1- Arya to Kill the Mad Queen
Taking a recap, the Red Priestess told Arya that she will be the end of three lives, “Brown eyes, blue eyes, green eyes. Eyes you’ll shut forever.” If we take a gander of what has happened, Arya killed Walder Frey (brown eyes) and the Night King (blue eyes) which means now she is to kill someone with green eyes.
A fan has pointed out that the next name on Arya’s list is Daenerys aka Khaleesi (who has green eyes!). There’s a possibility that Arya might go after the Mother of Dragons when she turns into the ‘Mad Queen’, not to forget she has lost Missandei and 2 of her dragons.
Another theory is that since everyone now knows Jon’s secret (he being the heir to the throne) and being a little coo-coo in the noggin, Danerys may plan to kill Jon for the throne but Arya will get to her before she has a chance to slit his throat.
On the other hand, there’s a fair chance that Danerys might be slain after she claims the throne and does rule the kingdom as the Mad Queen everyone fears she is becoming.
Plot #2- Return of Rhaegal
A clue in the season eight, episode five trailer has teased Rhaegal might be about to make a shocking comeback. Lets back up, Rhaegal was shot with a spear by Enron Greyjoy, giving Cersei a leveled battleground to take on Danerys for the ultimate fight to win the throne.
The trailer for episode 5 ends with Enron worried as if he were staring at death right in the eyes while looking towards the sky, which hints at the possibility of Rhaegal coming back to haunt the ‘world’s most horrible uncle’.
Plot #3- Danerys to be the End of Jon Snow
Looks like Jon Snow has become the unwanted hurdle between Danerys and the throne. Since Jon’s secret is already out, fans have a crazy theory that Danerys will kill (or plan to kill) him. She might be planning to take care of him after they take Cersei down once and for all.
Plot #4- Jamie & Cersei Die Together
Danerys has gone loco and has turned most of King’s Landing into a roasted dessert. Watching her transformation as she turns into the Mad Queen, Tyrion realizes that the only way he can save his sibling is to set Jamie free.
However, Jamie has a head-on battle with Euron, eventually killing him but being brutally injured in the process. He somehow makes his way to Cersei where they both die together. Cersei might either die by Danerys or might just kill herself in goodwill to be with the only man (*cough* brother) she has ever loved.
Plot #5- Jon Kills Danerys
Danerys might throw Tyrion in the dungeon for freeing Jamie, to which he tries to explain to Jon that his family will always be a threat to the throne. To this Jon realizes what Danerys is becoming and while he gives her his pledge, he might just also plunge a dagger in her heart (if Arya doesn’t kill her first). There is a possibility that it might be Arya in the form of Snow that kills her.
Plot #6- Bran Becomes the King
With Cersei and Daenerys dead, a council is formed in which Tyrion announces that Bran is now the new King.
Game of Thrones Cast Salaries: Here’s How Much They Are Earning Per Episode
Epilogue
In a nutshell, Jon once again takes the black as a punishment for killing Daenerys, Arya leaves, Sansa rules the North, Bran becomes King and oversees the council which now consists of Tyrion, Davos, Sam, and Bronn.
Deaths in Game of Thrones Season 8
Varys- Will die for betraying Daenerys
Euron- Jamie will kill Euron
The Hound and Mountain- Kill each other in a faceoff
Jaime- Dies of injuries suffered from in match against Euron and will die with Cersei
Cersei- Despite everything she has done to survive, the wicked queen will die with her brother, also her lover
Tyrion- The dwarf is arrested for betraying Daenerys by freeing Jamie. This means that he will get a trial, which is supposedly going to happen in the Dragon Pit in which there’s a tall, we mean a big possibility that he also dies.
Danerys- Mad Queen will either be killed by Jon or Arya, reportedly as she’s dying, Dany supposedly touches the Iron Throne, which was destroyed in the battle. Drogo will fly away with her body at the end.
Jon Snow- Jony boy might bid farewell after all as Kit Harrington has reportedly shot two different endings, one which hints he will join the Night Watch again, but then again, there’s no Night King anymore!

Nestlé & Akhuwat Join Hands to Empower BISP Beneficiaries
In developing countries, where the population is largely undocumented, unbanked and does not possess credit history nor the ability to provide collateral, the rural segment of the population’s ability to avail access to formal lending is thereby, limited.
According to the World Bank Global Findex Report, nearly 1.7 billion adults remain unbanked and have no access to formal financial services. It is also pertinent to mention that the gender gap in terms of bank accounts is high in developing countries like Pakistan.
Recently, Nestlé Pakistan and Akhuwat partnered to empower Nestlé’s Rural Women Sales Agents enrolled under the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP).
A Memorandum of Understanding was signed under which, Nestlé has provided a grant of PKR 2 million to Akhuwat to extend interest-free loans to Nestlé-affiliated BISP beneficiaries in expanding their businesses, in districts of Renala, Okara, Sheikhupura and Pindi Bhattian.
Through this partnership with Akhuwat and BISP, Nestlé Pakistan has paved the way in working towards contributing to the goals of the National Financial Inclusion Strategy, which lays out the national vision, framework, action plan and targets for financial inclusion in Pakistan.
In contrast, with conventional lending, difficulties in loan procedures include the provision of collateral, loan documentation and processing time and traveling a long distance from the village to withdraw the disbursement amount in cash.
In order to support the development of socially sustainable enterprises, Nestlé Pakistan has facilitated its BISP beneficiary base through the provision of interest-free, micro-finance lending which provides the beneficiaries with the financial muscle to build upon their enterprise while at the same time, ensuring ease of repayment of the loan,
“Today is a big day for our Rural Women Sales Agents. The Nestlé-Akhuwat partnership will allow our Sales Agents to avail interest-free micro-loan facility. It has been proven time and time again, that when women have the power to make, spend, save, and control their own money, they make gains not only for themselves but also for their families and communities”, said Freda Duplan, CEO Nestlé Pakistan.
Nestlé’s BISP Rural Women Sales Program focuses on graduating women benefiting from BISP out-of poverty. The program is based on Public Private Partnership that emphasizes on creating sustainable solutions for addressing some of the key issues being faced by rural women in Pakistan such as malnutrition and lack of livelihood opportunities. It has to date graduated 500 beneficiaries and this number will increase to 5,000 in the next three to four years.
Dr. Amjad Saqib, CEO Akhuwat, while sharing his views said, “We are glad to partner with Nestle and are confident that it will enable women under Nestlé’s BISP Rural Women Sales Program scale up their entrepreneurial ventures and eventually graduate out of poverty.”
Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Pakistan, said, “Our philosophy of creating shared value (CSV) is unique and a long term approach through collective action, partnerships and support of stakeholders can generate sustainable economic value, in line with UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.”
“The Nestlé-Akhuwat partnership is a transformative collaboration which will help us build rural women as social entrepreneurs with Akhuwat over the next three years and enhance Nestlé’s BISP beneficiary base,” he added.
Nestlé Pakistan partnered with Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) in 2017 to provide livelihood opportunities to BISP beneficiaries. The Nestlé BISP Rural Women Livelihood Program has enabled BISP beneficiaries, often referred to as “poorest of the poor” women, to earn a livelihood for themselves and their families. It is a successful Public Private Partnership model aiming to create a sustainable solution towards addressing some of the key issues like malnutrition, financial exclusion, and lack of livelihood opportunities that rural women face in Pakistan. To date, more than 500 BISP beneficiaries have been enrolled as Rural Sales Agents across 12 districts of Punjab and Sindh. Furthermore, Nestlé Pakistan is empowering BISP beneficiaries through improving their nutrition knowledge and has reached out to more than 1000 BISP beneficiaries in 2018.
Nestlé- Akhuwat partnership will help improve access to finance in rural areas for rural women, thereby reducing inequalities and supporting UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Social media is furious over the trending clip!
Here’s how Twitter is reacting over the entire fiasco.
First time ever i liked Nasir Khan Jan for keeping his cool and tried to control the situation with argument. Right or Wrong i’m no one to judge. What stupid hosting was that ? Insane. These folks can stoop down to the core of besharmi just to get ratings. Disgusting !
— Ziddi Khattak (@ZiDDi609) May 7, 2019
A protest has started against the male host, Shuaeb.
Seriously! On the first ramazan Twitter trends in Pakistan include #Nasir_Khan_Jan.@SAMAATV this kinda content is just a shit,Which we already have been served by stupid anchors like #lodhi and #liaqat many times… so,Please grow up….@nadeemmalik You should protest against
— Idrees Tareen (@EDREES_TAREEN) May 7, 2019
And fans want him to apologize to Khanjan.
This Samaa morning show anchor is the most unethical rude and disrespectful guy I’ve seen on tv please tag him and he should immediately apologise to Nasir khan Jan 🖐 pic.twitter.com/r1VXlR2z1Q
— Leena Raza (@Leenzu) May 6, 2019
@SAMAATV should apologize to Nasir Khan Jan on treating him that way.
Is that for what you invited Nasir Khan Jan?? Is that's the way you should treat your guests??
Invite some educated YouTubers and they will give you answers to your disrespectful questions..😑 pic.twitter.com/TBwUZvhVyx— Waqar Gohar (@WiKiGohar) May 6, 2019
Nasir Khan Jan – 1
Samaa News Host – 0
What a shameful act by @mshoaib336
This is the ethics you're promoting? This is the way you're "educating" kids of this nation?
Oh, "It's Dhandaa" – okay! https://t.co/zUDTXOPSyx— Assad (@Assad_says) May 7, 2019
Kudos to Nasir Khan Jan for handling it well, and giving him a shutup call! https://t.co/IAFhyc1aon
— Aisha Randhawa (@HariMirchein) May 7, 2019
Other Pakistani journalists and media personalities were also spotted criticizing the anchor.
Who decides what is wrong and what is vulgar? Certainly not ill-mannered news anchors with an urgency to prove themselves right. This is no different than Aamir Liauqat calling Taher Shah on his show and embarrassing the life out of him. Is hammam mae sab nangay hain https://t.co/7FUTc9rIUD
— Rafay Mahmood (@Rafay_Mahmood) May 7, 2019
This is pretty shameful – I know morning shows are not doing well on most channels, but this one on Samaa takes the cake – invites a guest only to insult him – copying this from Arnab Goswami I presume who has perfected it to an art – credit to Nasir Khan Jan who kept his cool pic.twitter.com/p90ecYwcor
— omar r quraishi (@omar_quraishi) May 7, 2019
Why is this Samaa host bullying this person? They invite a guest to their show to insult them? If he thinks Nasir Khan Jan's posts are not entertainment, what makes him believe his dumb show is entertaining enough. Such anchors also bullied Taher Shah… https://t.co/0oejxyajDn
— Bilal Farooqi (@bilalfqi) May 7, 2019
This is not the first time that personalities have been targeted by hosts on the show.
In 2016, Aamir Liaquat came under fire after he humiliated the ‘Eye to Eye’ singer, Taher Shah on his Ramadan show.
A year later, Aamir also faced backlash for inviting Meera and mocking her live on television.

Sham Idrees Exposes Zaid Ali, Shahveer Jafry & Ducky Bhai in Latest Video
The war amongst YouTube vloggers in Pakistan is showing no signs of ending anytime soon.
Last weekend, the mob attack on Sham & Froggy created a massive social media frenzy.
While Pakistan’s YouTubers fraternity condemned the attack, Froggy openly bashed Ducky Bhai and accused him of inciting violence amongst his fans.
https://youtu.be/JKsXLec5sac
Meanwhile, the drama took a whole new turn after eye-witnesses accused Froggy of lying about receiving a punch at the meet and greet
Sham Idrees & Wife Froggy Mob Attack: Here’s What YouTubers Are Saying!
Seemingly frustrated with all the hate, Sham rolled out a video to lash out at Shahveer Jafry, Zaid Ali, Rahim Pardesi, Mooro and Ducky Bhai.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KcqZgVKfSLA
Sham Calls Zaid Ali the Real Culprit & a Deceit
Zaid Ali was also part of Sham’s roast video and labeled him as a liar. He also leaked Zaid’s phone call in the video. You can listen to the leaked calls in the video posted above.
Zaid Ali is yet to reply to Sham’s accusations.
Sham & Shaveer Jaffry’s War in Full Swing
We all know how Sham Idrees & Shahveer Jafry were best friends. However, a fued between the pair over Ducky Bhai ended their partnership forever.
In his latest video, he accused Shahveer of copying and stealing his ideas.
After his video, Shahveer took to Twitter and wrote ‘Sham hates me’
Sham Idrees hates me. Being the only other vlogger in Pakistan next to him, I came into the game and introduced high energy vlogs. He had to stop his drama vlogs and WORK HARD for his videos too.
Sham, you’re in this for money. I’m in this for passion.

Sham Hits Back at Rahim Pardesi
Yesterday, Rahim Pardesi made a video to expose Froggy’s lie about getting hit at the mob attack.
https://youtu.be/jx7BLN0UCEw
Here’s what Sham replied to Rahim in his video
Sham’s Message to Mooroo
Clearly, Sham is irked at how Mooroo sat down with Ducky Bhai to make a video against him. Mooroo also stated that he is sad that how Froggy is receiving all the hate due to Sham.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9xujso4BCa4
And now Sham has finally broken silence over Mooroo’s statement.
This battle has reached an all-time high!
Sham ended the video stating that there is a malign campaign against him that is in full swing by his rivals and called himself a bigger YouTuber than the rest.
Let’s hope these YouTubers settle their differences once and for all.

Schengen Visa Costs Expected to go up by Year End
A proposal by the EU Commission to amend the Schengen Visa policy has now been formally adopted by the European Parliament.
Increasing Schengen visa cost is also a part of the changes given in the proposal.
If the Council approves the amendment within the next two months, all visa applicants will be required to pay a fee of €80 instead of €60 by the end of 2019.
This Pakistani Travel Enthusiast Will Inspire You to Travel Across the World
It is believed that the move will encourage tourism and help the region respond to security challenges in a better way.
The decision has been welcomed by EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Migration and Citizenship Dimitris Avramopoulos.
The new rules will facilitate tourism, trade and business while enhancing our security standards to detect those who pose a threat or have no right to enter the EU. They will also help improve cooperation with non-EU countries on the return and readmission of irregular migrants- Avramopoulos said.
The press release from the European Commission reads:
Whilst EU Member States are among the world’s leading tourist destinations, lengthy and cumbersome procedures can deter tourists from travelling to Europe, redirecting investment and spending to other countries and affecting the EU’s economy negatively.
At the same time, the benefits of visa travel need to be balanced with measures to adequately respond to present and future security and migration challenges.
Schengen Area includes the following 26 European countries:
- Austria
- Belgium
- Czech Republic
- Denmark
- Estonia
- Finland
- France
- Germany
- Greece
- Hungary
- Iceland
- Italy
- Latvia
- Liechtenstein
- Lithuania
- Luxembourg
- Malta
- Netherlands
- Norway
- Poland
- Portugal
- Slovakia
- Slovenia
- Spain
- Sweden
- Switzerland
The above-mentioned countries eliminated their internal borders to allow free and harmonious movement of people.
They share common regulations for controlling external borders, which helps them battle crime by strengthening the common judicial system and police cooperation.
It also asserts that the benefits of visa travel need to be balanced to adequately respond to security challenges.
Are any Schengen area countries part of your next travel plan? We hope this information will help you prepare for your next excursion better!

The Future of Digital Payment Services at Momentum Conference 2019
The Momentum Tech Conference is a two-day conference focused on the technology, digital, and entrepreneurial ecosystem of Pakistan. Participants have the opportunity to see different startups showcased, attend workshops, partake in hackathons, and attend keynote sessions and panel discussions.
Investors, tech enthusiasts, and experts from local and global organizations engaged the audience on the latest disruptive and innovative technologies.
Nadeem Shaikh, the newly appointed President of Digital Financial Services for VEON, is a global leader, innovator, and entrepreneur with over 25 years’ experience in the areas of technology, financial services, and has worked in private equity. During Momentum’s closing day, he took to the stage to talk about the future of digital payment services and what needs to be done in ensuring that a sustainable financial ecosystem is developed through local talent in Pakistan.
Shaikh’s extensive fintech experience, including his role as Founder and CEO of Anthemis Group, a global financial services group, not only allows him to find better ways to deliver financial products to Pakistan’s almost 79% unbanked adults, but also guide upcoming, local fintechs in providing services that help today’s tech-savvy customers manage their finances better.
“People need to stop talking about international financial solutions and other successful startups, and focus on writing their own local stories,” Shaikh emphasized
He highlighted the importance of developing an all-inclusive, truly digital financial solution. The solution, according to Shaikh, lies in looking at all aspects of the customers’ life and then using technology to leapfrog the barriers that are holding the digitally excluded back. These elements combined can lead to a state of ‘Financial Wellness’ which has the tremendous potential to transform lives.
“In the end, it is not about selling a product or a service, but about building a solution to every individual’s need,” Nadeem Shaikh.
JazzCash is currently looking to do all that; providing each individual a form of financial solution they require on the road to financial wellness. Today, JazzCash has over 5 million mobile wallets and 80,000+ trusted brands and small and medium-sized companies are a part of the growing network.
As per the World Bank, Pakistan is one of the 11 countries contributing to the next billion new internet users. Couple this with a growing youth population, a surging middle class of about 50 million, and a trajectory towards urbanization, the time is now right for the adoption of mobile banking technologies vertically across all strata to lead Pakistan and its population into a cashless and financially stable future.
