Pakistani Celebrities Stand Up For TikTok Star Areeka Haq & Asim Azhar

Asim Azhar had come a long way in the past few years. He has been a star since childhood.

Did you know he is the voice behind some of your most favorite jingles including Cocomo Mujhe Bhi Doh and Cadbury’s Kitna Maaza Aye Re Duniya Dairy Milk Ki Ban Jaye.

The crooner’s Jo Tu Na Mila featuring Iqra Aziz also became an instant hit, and Pakistanis applauded his work. However, it’s unfortunate we can’t say the same for this for his upcoming ‘Tum Tum’ featuring TikTok star Areeka (Areeqa), Shamoon Ismail, Raamis, Talha Anjum and others.

The young talent, Areeka Haq, became social media’s pinata after images from the upcoming video started to circulate.

However, Pakistani celebrities were quick to address that bullying someone is not okay and that mental health is very fragile, given the uncertain time and conditions we are in. Instead of making fun of the other person, supporting them will make a huge difference in their life.

Pakistani Celebrities Speak Out for Areeka Haq

Asim Azhar himself called out social media for the hypocrisy.

“Kamaal hai waise pehle depression aur mental health pe lectures dete hain aur kuch din baad khud kisi ko depression ka shikaar bana dete hain apni bullying aur nafrat se (It’s funny how they first give lectures on depression and mental health, and after a few days they make others a target of depression through hate and bullying ),” the singer tweeted.

Even Saba Qamar, who has recently done an entire vlog on mental health, took it to social media to talk about mental health.

She wrote:

Sometimes i fail to understand why there is so much haTe in Our society. Shy can’t we replace this ‘hate’ with ‘love’. Lets all learn from this crucial time and be kind to each oTHER because we’ve no idea what the other person Os going through! Please learn to reSpect.

She continued:

@AsimAzhar, I’m eagerly WAITING for your upcoming music video! I am also proud of this little beautiful girl @areeqa_haq and all the other young talented people, trust me guys, I am your biggest cheerleader, no matter what! Keep growing & shining. Lots of love!

Social Media Reactions to Areeka Haq

While our local celebrities have come out in favor of the young talent, many on social media have also raised their voice for the young talent, while others think otherwise.

Many went beyond comprehension and crossed their limits.

What is your stance on Areeka Haq’s bullying?

Coca-Cola To Pause All Social Media Advertising For A Month

Hate speech against religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or caste – this has been a significant problem on social media sites. Social activists are now raising this issue as racism is getting due attention because of the Black Lives Matter movement. Various brands are also voicing their opinions against bigotry and hate speech on social media.

Earlier this month, CEO Coca-Cola, James Quincey, stated support of the BLM movement. His statement aimed to fight social injustice and challenges. It also tried to provoke a sense of duty in people. Coca-Cola focused its efforts on four aspects: listening, leading, investing, and advocating. The company also aimed to represent the real corporate America internally.

Coca-Cola pauses social media advertisements.

Yesterday, Coca-Cola paused its social media ads for at least 30 days. It did so to make social networking sites crack down hate speech. Coca-Cola said that it’s not joining the #StopHateforProfit campaign. CEO Coca-Cola noted that there is neither a place for racism in the world nor on social media. The company targets to reassess its social media advertising policies and greater accountability.

#StopHateforProfit campaign has accused social networking sites of not doing enough against hate speech. More than 90 companies have joined this campaign, including famous ice cream brand Ben & Jerry’s, popular freelancing site UpWork, well-known American telecommunications company Verizon, renowned American retail and outdoor recreation services REI, etc.

Statement by Mark Zuckerberg

Although CEO Facebook had already stated the issue before Coca-Cola’s announcement, Facebook said that it is going to ban ads that portray a race, religion, caste, ethnicity, or sexual orientation as a threat or inferior to the rest.

Hate speech: a means to gain profit?

Many social media sites supported the BLM movement. Nevertheless, activists still accuse them of profiting from hate speech. It is believed that white supremacists invoke neo-nazis ideology in people through these platforms. Social media sites gain profit through this. Social networks have not only profited from hate speech against races, but Islamophobia has played a huge part as well.

Are brands like Coca-Cola giving genuine support or just protecting their interests?

On the one hand, people are praising these actions taken by the corporate giants to support the cause. On the other hand, these actions have attracted criticism. Many activists believe that these actions are too little and too late as these brands have been a considerable part of the problem. The actions taken by these brands are suspected to be a means to increase profit. This is because brand activism has proven to be more profitable than brand neutrality has been.

5 Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car!

Manual cars are not as hard to operate as they seem, and once you get the hang of it, you will love the way your car feels on the roads.

However, that still doesn’t mean that driving one is a piece of cake, and you can do it with your eyes closed.

Though shift sticks can be fun to drive in, there are some natural reflexes and tendencies we as humans do out of habit, and sometimes they cause us a lot of trouble.

Here are five habits you should avoid while driving a manual car!

1. Using the Gear Lever as a Hand-Rest

Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car
Source: AutoGuru

The gear lever is visible to the driver. However, the manual transmission is not. What happens is that when the gear lever is used, the selector fork (stationary within the manual transmission) is pushed against the rotating collar, which is pressed into the gear that the driver wants to choose. When a driver uses the lever as a hand-rest, the selector fork is causing possible premature failure.

2. Hit the Gas Pedal When the Engine is at a low RPM

Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car
Source: Zameen.com

Hitting your foot on the gas pedal helps make your car go faster. However, when the car engine is at a low RPM, hitting the pedal will cause significant engine issues in the long-run and will kill your engine’s lifespan over time.

3.    Keep Your Car in Gear at Stop Lights

Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car
Source: Michael & Company, Inc.

If you live in the city and drive a car, you are likely to come across a traffic signal approximately every 1KM more or less. However, what many drivers don’t know is that keeping your car in gears at the red light wears and tears the clutch. This makes it essential that the vehicle is put in neutral every time it comes to a stop.

4. Brake Without Clutch

Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car
Source: Car and Driver

The clutch is an integral part of a manual car as it helps with the gear engagement. It also plays a vital role in toning down the gears when needed to stop. However, drivers need to make it a habit of not disengaging the clutch until the very end when hitting the brakes. Keeping the engagement going for as long as possible helps the driver use as much of the natural resistance of the car as possible, creating a shorter stopping distance and reduced wear on your brakes.

5. Rest Your Foot On The Clutch Pedal

Habits You Should Avoid While Driving a Manual Car
Source: Hire Cars Rwanda

Another common mistake many manual transmission drivers make is resting their foot on the clutch. What many individuals don’t know is that relaxing the leg would cause the clutch to engage partially and can result in slippage. This can also lead to a reduction of the car’s fuel efficiency because of loss in transmission energy. On the other hand, this will also lead to the wearing out of the clutch.

Try to avoid these habits as much as possible for a safe drive and a healthier car!

3 Reasons To Watch Saba Qamar’s Latest Vlog On Depression

Saba Qamar’s Latest Vlog On Depression

Saba Qamar talks about depression and other mental illnesses in episode 4 of her YouTube channel series. The short clip of six minutes is written and conceived by her. Hashtagged in the caption are those souls who took their own lives due to depression.

Qamar has always been an advocate for breaking taboos in the country. Her roles in Hindi Medium and Baaghi highlighted controversial issues in our society that must be confronted. The video comes after the recent suicide of a Bollywood star and Zara Noor Abbas’s news of being diagnosed with depression.

1. It is eye-opening!

Qamar highlights various ailments of us as a society that can trigger depression. She repeats several common insults that are thrown on anyone who is not deemed perfect. Comments on height, weight, skin color and even personality traits are all common and can be damaging for the recipients. All of us are guilty of having said or thought of at least one them. Thus, the video highlights how these comments are wrong and unwanted and must be stopped.

Check out the full video below

2. It is informative

Interestingly, Qamar also tries to identify the source of the problem. Why are we so full of hatred? It often comes from the home, according to the actress. She adds that parents not only exhibit the same tendencies but also encourage this behavior in their children. Seeds of hatred are sown in children at home, which later sprout into embodiments of negativity. She implores parents to let children make their own decisions.

3. It is cinematically appealing

Saba Qamar understands that a cinematic appeal, besides dialogues, is also essential to get your message across. The video has appealing graphics in which shades of red and white are explored. Qamar’s expressions are also as incredible as ever. She is shown as laughing, screaming, sobbing, all of which are portrayed realistically to mirror depression. The background repeatedly shows a figure crouching, which can be a symbol of fragility and vulnerability.

Saba Qamar’s Latest Vlog On Depression

This is a conversation we need to start having, and Qamar has taken the initiative. Her tagline in the clip, “Aur kitni janein lo ge,” emphasis that we must take action before more lives are lost. Anam Tanoli, a rising fashion model, took her own life. Later, Rushaan Farrukh, a student at BNU, committed suicide at her university. These are just two of the names we know of; there are countless more that go unheard.

WHO’s statistics show that mental disorders affect 1 in every ten people on the planet. Moreover, even in high-resource settings, only one half of these get adequate treatment. In a society that turns to spiritual healers for mental illnesses, people need to be educated on the topic first. Depression and other psychiatric disorders are just as much of a disease as other physical illnesses.

It’s time we become more responsible.

WB By Hemani Launches Their New Herbal Relief Tea ‘ImmuniTea’

Famous natural products brand for healthy living, WB by Hemani, has launched ‘ImmuniTea’. Hemani is an established brand with a wide range of natural products in over 60 countries. ImmuniTea is a herbal relief tea that not only helps relax viral flu symptoms but is a great immunity booster too.

 Herbal Relief Tea 'ImmuniTea'

What is ImmuniTea?

ImmuniTea, when launched by WB by Hemani, was not advertised as a cure. It was always labelled as a relief measure that has profound benefits. In an interview with SomethingHauteOfficial, Alam talks about the tea in detail. He begins by saying that he recently started believing in the interests of herbalism in science.

Here’s the interview with Fakhr e Alam

Famous Actor, TV Host, Singer & VJ, Fakhr-e-Alam discussed about WB by Hemani's Newly launchedIMMUNTEA HERBAL RELIEF…

Posted by WB Stores on Saturday, June 27, 2020

Hemani’s founder had been working with accomplished herbalists regarding COVID-19 when they started developing a blend. This tea has seven special herbs collected from around the world. It is a great immunity booster that can be used even if a person is corona negative.

How was ImmuniTea initially tested

ImmuniTea was initially tested by Hemani’s owner and his own family. Unfortunately, they had all fallen prey to Coronavirus, and that is when they tried it for the first time. Alam notes that Mr. Mustafa (owner of Hemani) was happy to report that significant symptoms of the virus were being relieved. Fever, loss of hunger, loss of taste, and body aches had been reduced to a great extent when they started incorporating ImmuniTea in their routines.

Results of ImmuniTea

Seeds of doubt may remain when the testament for a product comes from the owner. However, WB by Hemani’s Immunnitea has been tried and tested by several others. We found out about the product through friends who had tested it. They, too, were COVID-19 positive and suffering much because of the symptoms.

However, ImmuniTea, along with prescribed medicines, relieved several symptoms, making their recovery speedy. Some prominent names are Nida Yasir and Nabeel Zafar, who spoke about it with high regard. Moreover, they also encouraged their fans to purchase it.

Fairly-priced for what it’s worth

The official product

Fakhr-e-Alam also shares the factors behind the price. Many publications are bashing the promoters for cashing on a pandemic. However, that is not true at all. It has been said nowhere that is a cure rather it is something that helps relax the symptoms. Their motive is to get this across to as many people as possible.

The product is fairly priced because of how expensive it is to source the rare herbs for the tea. Moreover, those who can not afford it can get it from organisations ImmuniTea is being donated to. Daily a thousand boxes are donated to the JDC foundation for those who can not afford it. Hemani is working on alleviating the effects of a pandemic, not to cash in on it.

اس مرض میں مثبت آنے والے افراد کے لئے ہیمانی کمپنی کی چائے اب ہیمانی کے تمام اسٹورز پر دستیاب ہے

Posted by JDC Foundation Pakistan – NGO on Friday, June 26, 2020

Moreover, Indian brand Patanjali has also launched its Ayurvedic medicine for COVID-19. This medicine has shown favourable results during a clinical trial on an affected patient. The question is if they can do it, why can’t we?

A savior in times like these

ImmuniTea, indeed, is a great source to help relieve the viral-flu like symptoms. Moreover, in times like these where everyone is focusing more on boosting their immunity, ImmuniTea would play a vital role in this. As this tea is free of medicinal compounds, it is extremely safe for children and adults to consume it. If you’re experiencing any flu-like symptoms, it’s time for you to grab a few boxes of this magical tea.

What do you think of ImmuniTea? Will you give it a try? Let us know in the comments below.

6 Things You Should Know Before You Modify Your Ride!

Credits: WallPaperUp

Automotive enthusiasts love equipping their car with the latest and the best gear.

They play with the colors, rims, vinyl, interior; you name it. Modifying and customizing a car is a part of personalizing it so that it can stand out and look apart.

However, before you can go out and about to get your ride a makeover, there are a couple of things you should know pre-hand.

Once you have decided to modify your car, there is no going back! So are you ready to know what they are?

6 Things You Should Know Before You Modify Your Ride!

1. Modification May Affect your Car’s Warranty

Credits: Karachi Track

Many drivers opt for a warranty given by the manufacturers of the car variant. However, the warranty comes with certain conditions. The manufacturer will be responsible for paying for the service or repair only if those conditions are met. Once you modify a car no matter how small it may be, the warranty can become null.

2. May Lead to Performance Reduction

Credits: Fdimages

It’s very ironic how people modify their rides so that it can give a better performance, but that is not always the case. Sometimes, modifications reduce their vehicle’s performance rather than improving. Plus, they can, at times, cause a lot of expensive repairs if the car’s engine or chassis is damaged in the process.

3. Modification is Costly on the Pockets

Credits: KHI Track

Car owners want to modify their car with the best of the best, but the sad reality is that not everyone can get through the entire process as it mints out money from your pocket. Just upgrading the tires and wheels can cost around $2,000, sportscars are even more expensive!

4. It’s a Continous Process

Credits: Mr. ZainJ

The modification itself is a form of art, and artwork cannot be perfect in a couple hours nor days. Hence, modifying your ride becomes a continuous process that you take to take part in once you have started to give it tune-ups.

5. Choosing the Right People/Company for the Job is Critical

Credits: Karachi Track

Not everyone who claims to be a pro at their work can handle your ride. If you own a Ferrari and you take it to a company that deals in Honda and specializes in sedans, then you will for sure find yourself in a lot of trouble.

6. May Compromise your Safety

Credits: Karachi Track

Last but not least, modifying your ride not only compromises the car’s performance but your safety as well. Tinted windows are one of the most popular car modifications; they are ubiquitous in Pakistan. Did you know that the recommended level of light transmission in tinted windows is 25%? Having a light transmission level that is less than 25% compromises your safety because it hinders your ability to see other vehicles.

Still, want to modify your ride? Be sure you are 100% sure!

Apple’s iOS 14 has become the talk of the town. The newest update is unique, not the kind of updates Apple users are used to. While many are happy about specific features, at the same time, some people just can’t get the hang of it.

Apple says the new iOS 14 can be updated on iPhone 6s & 6s Plus, iPhone SE (2016), iPhone 7 & 7 Plus, iPhone 8 & 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone XS & XS Max, iPhone 11
iPhone 11 Pro & 11 Pro Max, iPhone SE (2020).

I have an iPhone 6s, and I’m doubtful about the update.

And let’s not forget that Apple borrowed some of these features from Android. Read the full story here:

iOS 14 to Have Top 5 Android Features

Widgets have become everyone’s favorite feature!

I had a feeling this would happen. The iPhone’s battery is still one of the biggest concerns I have and with the recent heavy update, I do not think the previous phones would perform well!

We like everything but absolutely hate the digital clocks too!

But let’s not forget. This is one of the best iOS updates so far. So modern and digital: The app drawers, picture-in-picture feature, default apps, and so much more!

All the android users can’t stop pointing it out that most of the features are borrowed from Android, which we have seen happening for over some time now.

You can resize the widget, but only after you delete and reset it! Apple always fixes problems here and there with follow up updates. Just sit tight and wait for the magic to happen.

Here are eight cool features you need to know about. Read the full story here:

TikTok’s popularity continues to rise in Pakistan.

Moreover, TikTok has become a popular social media network in Pakistan. Its popularity has risen particularly over the last couple of years. Also, Pakistanis seem to pay no attention to controversies, like data theft being associated with the app. It is continuing to grow.

On the one hand, celebrities are joining TikTok and producing funny and creative videos to entertain their fans. Many Pakistani celebrities have joined the network, including Imran Abbas, Humaima Malik, Momina Mustehsan, Noor Hassan, Hania Amir, Alizey Shah, Iqra Aziz, and Yasir Hussain.

On the other hand, TikTok celebrities are also emerging, including Areeka Haq, Jannat Mirza, and Zulqarnain Sikandar. Recently, Areeka Haq paired up with famous singer Asim Azhar for an upcoming song. He recently posted a picture of them from the song on his Instagram profile.

However, not all celebrities are on the same boat. Famous actor and game show host, Fahad Mustafa, called out the platform. He requested parents to keep their children away from the app. Fahad Mustafa also urged the nation to do something productive. He, however, was called out on his stance by people for hosting a not so productive game show.

Brands That Are Combatting Racial Inequality Immediately

Brands That Are Combatting Racial Inequality Immediately

The #BlackLivesMatter movement protests are a modern-day social revolution to combat racial inequality. Some brands are taking the lead role in tackling the form of bias today.

How does racial inequality exist today

Following George Floyd’s murder by white police officers, the black community united unlike ever before to protest all over the U.S. Discrimination based on race is still prevalent. As a result, injustices are rampant today because racism is institutionalized and systematic. This sense of prejudice exists in organizations and people of power alike. Black people account for about 12% of the U.S. population but occupy only 3.2% of the senior leadership roles at large companies in the U.S. and just 0.8% of all Fortune 500 CEO positions.

How BLM has impacted companies

As the momentum spread across the world, ‘brand activism’ had to pick up the pace. The support for the movement was so great that if companies stayed silent, they risked losing customers. Hence, many not only released relevant logos but also publicly pledged donations while sharing information on social media. These efforts were an attempt to curb racial inequality with the resources that they possessed.

Nike not only changed their logo but also pledged $40 million for organisations fighting against racial inequality

This, however, did not mean that companies just had to put up a few posts. Those who had racially discriminated against their employees were called out for hypocrisy. Others who had problematic products were also pressurized and boycotted. The power of the public and the strength in numbers was such that desirable changes were brought about by many companies.

Johnson and Johnson discontinue skin-whitening lotions.

The pharmaceutical giant announced that it would be discontinuing its skin-whitening lotions. The idea behind skin-whitening products is that beauty is synonymous with fair skin. To automatically imply that darker skin is undesirable also encourages racial inequality, which must now be abolished. Their Neutrogena and Clean & Clear skin whitening products were mainly sold in India and are now being discontinued after backlash.

Unilever India  & Pakistan to rebrand ‘Fair & Lovely.’

Women started rebelling against “Fair and Lovely” long ago for the same reasons. The slogan “unfair and lovely” and “dark and lovely” came out as a protest as women embraced their natural skin tones. The obsession with fair skin portrays the white race as superior, and naturally, the black race is deemed inferior. The BLM movement sparked outrage against this implicit racial inequality, and the Indian multi-national has decided to scratch the “fair” from the name.

What other companies need to do

Companies, regardless of their sector, must be more progressive now. Therefore, executives and leaders need to assure that employees are promoted or demoted based on performance, not skin color. The vast resources available to brands must be used responsibly and for better causes. Like Nike, Adidas, Gucci, other giants must donate to disadvantaged communities to play a more active part in ending racial inequality.

Aisha Khan Hits Back At Troll Over Their Rude Remarks

Aisha Khan in one of those very few celebrities from the past that we are still in love with. Her most popular drama Mehndi which aired on PTV, was an absolute hit! Let’s not forget how adorable she looked in that drama.

Moreover, after Mehndi, Khan has worked on several other projects which the masses loved but decided to quit the showbiz industry in 2018. The announcement did turn out to be upsetting as she would not be seen on the screens anymore.

Khan announced this heartbreaking news before getting married to her fiance Major Uqbah Malik in April 2018. Yes, that was one news we had all been waiting for anxiously. A year later, the couple surprised their fans and followers with another great story, which was the birth of their daughter, Mahnoor.

Just recently, Aisha Khan shared some pictures of her beautiful family after quite some time, which she hardly does. However, she decided to hide her daughter’s face using an emoji. Little did she know she would get criticized even for this!

Here are the pictures Aisha had shared a few days ago

Unfortunately, some people would always be unhappy in life and envious of others. These ‘random’ trolls would most likely be found on social media spreading hate among people, especially famous figures.

The troll who decided to throw their crude remarks on her pictures said,

What’s the point of hiding the baby? People of the west have such adorable kids that our women put their pictures on wall during their pregnancies. And here we are hiding our desi product as if none other than us have ever given birth to a baby or we have an out of the world modus operandi of giving birth.

Now, that was clearly in bad taste.

Moments later, Aisha Khan was quick to give this woman a piece of her mind in the most polite manner. Here’s what she said,

“With due respect firstly, if I like the picture I will post it… With the baby or without… But over here… You’ve completely missed the point… This post was a light-hearted take on how posing with a lit one is challenging. That’s all.”

Here’s what the user said

Social media trolls need to know that if they’re commenting on someone’s personal space, they, firstly, have no right to start preaching and teaching parents what to do. No one should impose their opinions on others.

Indeed, parents know what’s best for them, and their child and no one should tell them otherwise.

What do you think of Aisha Khan’s response? As a mother and standing up for her daughter, do you think Aisha Khan was right? Let us know in the comments below.

Meet Saifullah From Peshawar Who Climbs Mountains To Take Online Classes

Meet Saifullah From Peshawar Who Climbs Mountains To Take Online Classes

Universities were the first to shift online completely due to COVID-19 and lockdowns around the world. Classes are now conducted on various video communication sites like Zoom or GoogleMeet. These sites attempt to replicate the atmosphere of a class.

Many students all across the world are now continuing their education by taking online classes, and the same goes for the students in Pakistan. One such student from Peshawar, Saifullah Abbas Afridi, has left everyone in awe.

Meet Saifullah From Peshawar Who Climbs Mountains To Take Online Classes

Saifullah Abbas Afridi climbs mountains every day to attend his online classes. He shares his story as a political science student in Peshawar. Saifullah is currently doing his bachelor’s from the University of Peshawar, and his struggles as a student are incredibly unique. He climbs mountains every day for a good 30 minutes before he gets internet signals to meet his academic requirements.

Saifullah appreciates the government’s efforts in his interview. He believes that trying to continue education in such tough times is commendable, but they must be mindful of different limitations. He and his friends collectively leave their homes in the early hours to try to find Internet hotspots.

Check out the video, and you’ll be amazed!

[arve url=”https://www.facebook.com/TheBeautyOfQuettaValley/videos/267417241356756/” align=”center” title=”Saifullah climbs mountains to attend online classes” description=”Saifullah shares the difficulties he faces to attend his online classes” /]

Saifullah also notes that he is fortunate. Some of his friends live even farther 25-30 km away. For them, climbing mountains is either not possible or not fruitful at all. He also makes it a point to be aware of his surroundings. He sheds light on the student protests happening in his region that is led by those who are disadvantaged by online classes.

The sky is the limit!

Saifullah’s determination must be applauded. Despite weak connections, he is still persistent in accessing all his course material for online classes. It has become the norm for Saifullah to study the British, French, and US constitutions on top of mountains.

Saifullah’s story exposes a massive gap in our education system even though it is inspiring. He must be applauded for his motivation and determination, but his problems must be solved too. His story shows the divide between the privileged and the non-privileged to a great extent. While some take online classes from their beds, others have to trek for several minutes before being marked ‘present.’

Steps government should take

In addition to that, the government must devise a policy that either excuses students with technical difficulties. Internet connections must be established in remote areas to make the pursuit of education more accessible. Knowledge must not come at the price of intense physical exertion and uncertainty.

Online classes have been trying for many ever since they became necessary. Even students from privileged backgrounds complain about connectivity issues and power shortages that are often not excused by professors.

Let this be a story that inspires not only the students to dedicate themselves despite all obstacles but also to others who can often feel demotivated because of their surroundings.

Karachi, 26 June 2020: Unilever Pakistan announced today the next step in the evolution of its skincare portfolio, with the rebranding of its flagship brand Fair & Lovely. Taking forward the brand’s journey towards a more inclusive vision of beauty, the company will stop using the word ‘Fair’ in the brand name ‘Fair & Lovely.’ The new name of Fair & Lovely will be announced after the necessary regulatory approval.

Over the last decade, Fair & Lovely’s advertising has evolved to communicate a message of women empowerment. The brand’s vision is to adopt a holistic approach to beauty that cares for people, and that is inclusive and diverse – for everyone, everywhere.  The brand is committed to celebrating all skin tones.

In 2019, the brand’s communication moved away from benefits of fairness, whitening, and skin lightening, towards the glow, even tone, skin clarity, and radiance, which are holistic measures of healthy skin. Unilever Pakistan has also removed all visuals or words on Fair & Lovely’s packaging that could indicate a fairness-led transformation – including the removal of dual-faced cameo showing shade transformation, as well as the shade guides. Unilever Pakistan upholds principles that no association should be made between skin tone and a person’s achievement, potential, or worth.

Amir Paracha, Chairman & CEO, Unilever Pakistan Limited, said, “Unilever is an organization that is evolving continuously, and today we have taken the next bold step in our evolution by committing to a more inclusive and diverse portrayal of beauty. This ambition has been in the works for some time with significant steps such as the removal of the dual-faced cameo and shade guides from the packaging of Fair & Lovely in 2019. We have also moved the brand communication away from fairness towards the glow, which is a more holistic and inclusive measure of healthy skin. We are now committing to remove the word ‘Fair’ from the brand formerly known as ‘Fair & Lovely’. The new name will be announced soon.”

Fair & Lovely is based on pioneering technology that has made multiple skin health benefits available to millions of consumers at an affordable price. Fair & Lovely has a combination of vitamins B3, B6, C & E, glycerine, UVA and UVB sunscreens, and allantoin – which together are known to improve skin health and protect the skin from external aggressors, UV rays and environmental pollution. The product is designed to improve skin barrier function, improve skin firmness, and smoothen skin texture – all of which help enhance radiance and glow holistically. The brand has never been and is not a bleaching product.

In addition to the changes to Fair & Lovely, the rest of our skincare portfolio will also reflect the new vision of positive beauty.

Connecting women to opportunity:

Career guidance and high-quality education are vital elements to building a career and essential to empowering women. That is especially true where socio-cultural, infrastructural, or economic barriers stand in women’s way.

Unilever set up The Fair & Lovely Foundation to offer women scholarships to pursue their education. In 2019, it launched a mobile-friendly career and education platform, as a holistic solution. This mobile platform provides career guidance as well as a curated selection of courses. The courses are chosen from well-regarded, high-quality digital education partners such as edX.org (founded by Harvard and MIT), the IT skills training firm, NIIT Limited, and English Edge, an English language training specialist.

As with the rebranding of Fair & Lovely, we will be also be announcing the new name for the Fair & Lovely Foundation.

Peshawar High Court To Facilitate a Woman in Sexual Transition Surgery

Surgery

On Thursday, Peshawar High Court (PHC) ordered the authorities from a local hospital in Peshawar to assist a woman in sexual transition surgery. In a conservative country like Pakistan, the news has instead set a benchmark.

Justice Qaiser Rasheed and Justice Naeem Anwar were a part of the division that ruled a petition which acknowledges the procedure in black and white.

The court also summoned the hospital’s legal advisor to have a clear picture regarding the issue at hand. Many arguments were made keeping transgender rights under the light of the law during the time of the hearing.

Saifullah Muhib Kakakhel, petitioner’s lawyer, presented his argument in the court saying that the “woman has the right to go for any surgery to change her sex, adding it is her constitutional rights.”

Kakakhel further revealed that his client has a severe problem of depression and has been diagnosed with a problem called gender dysphoria. The client now wishes to undergo life-changing surgery as soon as possible.

Did you know Transgenderism is no longer a mental illness? Read the full story here:

Transgenderism No Longer a Mental Illness: WHO

What is Gender Dysphoria?

Gender Dysphoria also called Gender identity disorder, is a term that describes a person’s sense of not being comfortable in their own body because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity.

The recently passed bill, Transgender Persons (Protection of Rights) Act, 2018, allows the changing of gender under Section 2 of the Act. Thereby, it is legal to get the surgery done.

After listening to both sides of the argument, the court permitted the petitioner to get her surgery done. The operation is set to take place at Peshawar’s Hayatabad Medical Complex.

Here are 5 Reasons Why Quarantine Is Affecting Your Mental Health

It is quite pleasant to witness such decisions being made in the court of law in today’s time and age. In Pakistan, a sexual transition surgery is considered taboo and completely unnecessary. Allowing the procedure is nothing less than an achievement as a nation.

Atif Aslam’s ‘Kinna Sona’ Taken Down by T-Series After Major Backlash In India

Atif Aslam

26th June 2020:

India never fails to surprise anyone, from blaming Pakistan for sending spy pigeons to floating ‘suspicious’ balloons across the border, the country has a wild imagination.

After shunning Pakistani artists from its industry in 2016, the country pretty much ignored cross-border talent until recently, but the people couldn’t digest it.

One of the biggest music labels in India, T-Series, was forced to remove Atif Aslam’s song ‘Kinna Sona’ from the movie Marjaavan after significant backlash on social media.

The company issued an apology stating that they have made a mistake and that the track was erroneously uploaded on their YouTube channel.

The apology reads as followed:

The said song, sung by atif aslam, was put on the youtube channel of t-series by one of our employees.

He was unaware of his actions, which led to the mistake. We deeply regret this and apologize for the same.

We assure you that the song won’t be release on our platform and we won’t promote it either.

We are taking down the song and we reassure you that we won’t be assisting any pakistani singers.

Was Atif Aslam a Deliberate Target?

However, what makes us a bit uneasy is that this is not the first time since 2016 when Bollywood has used Pakistani talent in their movie. Was Atif Aslam targeted because of his growing fan-base in India?

Another Indian Movie titled ‘Malang’ is an example. The movie uses not one but two tracks with Pakistani talent. One of the track is ‘Bol Hu’ which went viral in Pakistan after Nescafe discovered the hidden young gem Hadiya who made her debut with the popular duo ‘Soch the Band’. The second track is ‘Humraah,’ which was sung by none other than Asim Azhar.

This doesn’t come as a shock anymore, given how intolerant the Indian Media and their politician have become over time.

We have yet to see what the future holds for Pakistan’s talent and which industry our stars will work shortly.

Listen to Atif Aslam’s ‘Kinna Sona’ Below

https://youtu.be/L5rNscYkioY

24th December 2019: In a post on his official Instagram, Atif Aslam announced the arrival of his bundle of joy.

The proud father wrote a small note with the image of the baby telling his fans and followers that both the child and the mother are fine.

Here’s what Atif wrote:

“Ladies and gentlemen our NEW arrival Alhamdulilah. Both mother and baby are fine. Keep us in your prayers, and don’t forget to say Mashallah.”

However, an Indian publication took it in a wholly different context. It announced that Atif and wife Sara had named their second-born named ‘Alhumdauillah’ – which means all thanks to Allah.

The publication said in their headline, “Atif Aslam and wife welcome their second child, names him Alhamdulillah.”

That’s all it took for social media to knock their socks off! The tweet has since been getting hilarious responses.

Desi Martini also posted about the mishap, taking accountability and notifying that the mistake is there no more.
