The Taliban descended upon Kabul earlier this week and took control of the city without a fight. On Tuesday, they held their first news conference in which they delineated all points pertaining to their rule. Here’s what you need to know:

The Press Conference
The conference came as the United States started aggressively evacuating Western allies and diplomats. The US also has current control over the airport where huge crowds of people stay desperately.
The spokesperson of the conference was Mujahid. Until now he had been issuing statements from the shadows. However, now he has not only come to the forefront but has conducted the conference too.
A Very Forgiving Regime
One of the things the Taliban said was that “We seek no revenge and “everyone is forgiven””. In this, they are referring to all the international diplomats and US officers still in Kabul. Moreover, their statement also applies to all those Afghan nationals who helped the international forces.
Women’s Rights
Their next talking point was pertaining to women. They remarked that they “will honour women’s rights but within the norms of Islamic law”. Since their invasion on Afghanistan, the uproar on social media has been for the sake of women and children mostly. In their last regime, the Taliban did not allow women to work or study. When they had to leave the house, men should accompany them.

Now since they descended on Kabul, pictures of women are also being painted over outside shops.
Private Media
The Taliban said, “We want private media to remain independent but the media should not work against national interests”. The spokesperson added that private media could continue to be free and independent in Afghanistan. They gave the impression that they were committed to the media within its cultural structure.

Moreover, “Afghanistan will not allow itself to harbour anyone targeting other nations.”

Their last main point was that “Afghanistan will be a narcotics-free country”. This is a huge development they are arguing for. The spokesperson pledged to stunt the heroin supply from Afghanistan. He calls for international support for alternative crops that previous opium growers can depend on.

The most horrifying incident occurred at Minar-e-Pakistan on the 14th of August. A woman peacefully celebrating independence day was groped, molested, harassed and stripped by not one, two, or three men but by 400 men. While you let that sink in, #Notallmen is trending on Twitter.
The Incident
The incident occurred 4 days ago and it only came to light yesterday. The fact that such a disgustingly horrifying case took 3 days to even become public shows a lot. The female was with her friends at the national monument where out of nowhere men started attacking her.
400 men, collectively, attacked her and groped her for hours. The video shows daylight fade in the background and she received no help. A single call to the police could have also helped but people rather made videos. In the end, the woman’s clothes were ripped.
So far, a case has been filed and an FIR has been registered. Women on social media and on Tiktok are using their skills to find the men involved in the act. Many faces have come to light such as these, take screenshots at your will and send them to the police.
Twitter Trends
However, as if it could not get worse, #NotAllMen started trending on Twitter. Those men who were not present at the monument to participate in this vile act felt offended. The trend triggered many women and allies who started aggressively campaigning to the contrary.

Back when I was kinda immature. I used to believe and argue about “not all men” but naah after everything that’s been going around and as I get more and more aware, it’s just plain stupidity to believe in the term “not all men” Yes all men. You simply cannot defend this gender.

A traffic police warden and an assistant were suspended in Lahore for misbehaving with a family near Calvary ground.
The warden stopped a women driver for not wearing a seat belt. As soon as they step out of the car, the warden hits the man accompanying the woman with the car door. He hit the man as he slammed the car door open. The video shows a woman talking to the warden, trying to calm him down. However, as soon as the women tried to intervene, the warden started misbehaving with the women. The warden kept pushing them both against the car until people began gathering, trying to resolve the matter.

Lahore Chief Traffic Officer Muntazir Mehdi has suspended traffic assistant Munawar and traffic warden Shahid in light of the incident.
A Recent Incident
The suspension of police officers is not something we have ever seen before. Previously, many such incidents have occurred where the officers are suspended or dismissed from their posts. A few weeks ago, a police officer was arrested after charges were filed against him for abusing a woman as he exposes himself in front of her.
He has been suspended, case registered against him and arrested on the orders of IG Punjab Inam Ghani. He will be dismissed from service and convicted too. What is a crime for others is a crime for a police officer too.

Why Is It Special?
“Bhai” is a short film about two brothers. One of them is on the autism spectrum and the film explores shame, trauma, and brotherhood. In our society, autism is not properly understood and it is impossible to find the right resources for it. It is treated like a hopeless case. However, this movie shows the brother on the spectrum as simply “differently-abled”, a term we have yet to adopt.

This film is special because it casts a person on the spectrum to act in the capacity of a person on the spectrum. Usually, neuro-typical people/actors are made to act out in these roles. “Bhai” is honest in its depiction. Seeing someone actually with a neurological condition is bound to open our eyes. It has the power to make the audience more sensitive to autism.

The Director’s Words
Hamza Bangash, the director and writer of the film, hopes to instigate a change with his decision. By casting a differently-abled person in his short film, he hopes to make a case for the minority. He believes they deserve a chance just as much as neurotypical people do. The Pakistani society/industry lacks in this regard.

Bangash also believes the differently-abled can give more to the industry with their nuanced performances. This also does not only apply to those who are differently-abled. If there is a role of a transgender, instead of turning men/women into one, cast actual transgenders.

The primary celebration in this regard was held at the project site of Zee Avenue; a mixed-use, state-of-the-art real estate development featuring the world-famous hotel Ramada by Wyndham. The event was attended by Zameen.com Senior Director Laeeq Chaudhary, Directors Basil Hafeez, Muhammad Usman, Ali Rehan, and Haider Murtaza, along with the management of Zee Avenue and Ramada by Wyndham.
Addressing the Independence Day ceremony, Mr. Chaudhary stated that Pakistan had achieved its freedom as a result of the unimaginable sacrifices made by our forefathers, and that we all have a part to play in protecting and developing our country. He added that August 14 was a reminder for the people of this country to forget their ethnic differences and unite to become one nation — with every citizen willing to sacrifice all for the betterment of Pakistan. The senior director further said that Zameen.com had done everything in its capacity to bring innovation to the real estate industry and that the company had played a pioneering role in promoting economic activity in the property sector and its related industries.
A spokesperson representing Zee Avenue and Ramada by Wyndham also took the opportunity to address the crowd, saying that everyone present at the ceremony wanted to see Pakistan become a prosperous country. However, he added that in order for the country to succeed, each person had to play their part in the process. He further said that “Independence is a divine blessing and in order to achieve it, unforgettable sacrifices had to be made, which is why we have been able to live as a free nation for so long”.
In addition to this ceremony, Zameen.com organized Independence Day celebrations in all of its regional offices. A cake-cutting ceremony was also organized and the company’s employees offered prayers for Pakistan’s success on the occasion.

Four Wives – But How?
In this case, Allah also set a limit of four marriages. After the battle in order to bring the society back to harmony, men were allowed to marry up to 4 women. This would mean more women are settled and their children also have security for their futures.

However, even in this allowance, Allah gave many instructions, said Hamza Ali Abbasi. Allah especially asked to do more than one marriage if ‘insaf’ can be done between each wife. According to Hamza Ali Abbasi, being fair is extremely difficult hence, only one should be done.
Many in our society believe that the Book has ordered Muslims to marry more than once or marry four times. However, Hamza Ali Abbasi believes that is not the case. He shares how in the Arab tradition, people married unlimitedly. However, Allah restricted that to four.

Even after restriction, He advised marrying once as that is better and prevents one from being wrongful. If men marry in zest four times and then are unable to be fair to their wives, they will be punished severely.
Thus, the allowance came at a special, extraordinary time. Moreover, it came in a nuanced way— it did not come without its restrictions, conditions and limitations. One should not overestimate themselves to think they can fulfil all obligations. As Hamza Ali Abbasi said, it is best to do only one. Have you heard of Pasta Chips before? We haven’t. But unlike anything we have seen in the past, this one looks delicious and it is so easy to make that you can have this every day. Your everyday tea-time snacking will be made more accessible with this recipe, not to mention the tea parties. But wait! Have we mentioned the healthy twist which you can bring to the recipe? Thanks to whoever was genius enough to come up with an idea of an air fryer.

Now that we have created so much curiosity around the recipe, let’s dive right into it.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook farfalle pasta according to the package instructions.
Transfer pasta to a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Add Parmesan cheese, oregano, red chilli pepper, black pepper and salt. Gently stir until evenly combined.
Place pasta in the air fryer basket in batches and cook for 5 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook for 2 to 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining pasta. Allow cool completely for final crisping.
You can also bake them in the oven if you don’t own an air fryer.
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese.
Serve with your favourite dip or sauces. That’s it. Enjoy!

We are all witnesses to PM Imran Khan making several promises to the nation when he made his government. Taskforce to recover the looted wealth
The current government was especially vocal about dealing with corruption in the country by establishing a special task force with the goal to recover national monetary resources laundered by the corrupt and stored offshore. On July 13, 2021, PM Imran Khan urged those present in United Nations High-Level Political Forum to stop the huge amount of illegally gained finance from being funneled out of the developing countries. The Premier also mentioned recovering stolen assets of developing countries.
Attract overseas Pakistanis’ investment
The government’s manifesto also included increasing the stake of overseas Pakistanis and involving them more in state matters. On April 29, 2021, the PM called expatriates of Pakistan a “big asset.” He encouraged Pakistani embassies and high commissions to help settle any issues these overseas Pakistanis have rather than being a hurdle to them.
Although not completed, there are some processes nearing completion.
Building 5 million houses
The manifesto of the current government pledges to facilitate the development of approximately 5 million housing units. Of 5 million, 1.5 to 2 million were in urban areas, while the rest of the 3 to 3.5 housing units were in rural house units. In an update regarding the matter, it was announced that 20,000 housing units have already been constructed under the Naya Pakistan Housing Scheme.

The existing BISP program
PM Imran has always been clear about alleviating poverty. He has taken numerous steps to do that through the Ehsaas program. The program includes not just the men as the patriarch system might intend. In fact, one avenue of the Ehsaas program provides stipends directly to girls.
In another installment, Benazir Income Support Program was also renamed to Ehsaas.
As previously mentioned, the government places due importance on overseas Pakistanis. In that light, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting said they would introduce electronic voting machines. I-Voting will be a big step towards giving overseas Pakistanis the right and ability to vote.
Gender-based violence courts were promised in order to “provide additional protection and a speedy resolution to women.” Recently, President Dr. Arif Alvi declared all session courts in Pakistan as special courts to provide justice and by putting accused of rape on trials. This fast implementation of promises, no matter how incomplete, brings peace into the hearts of all of us.
Structural reform to establish National Commission on Minorities
To empower the minorities, a National Commission for Minorities was proposed. After being in talks with different ulema and mashaikh of various schools of thought, the government said that the minorities in Pakistan were given indisputable rights through the Constitution of Pakistan. They will now be enforced actively to ensure that the minorities felt safer.

Public and police interaction to be made easier
Public outreach to police was proposed to be made easier through modernized measures such as policing apps, SMS systems, and online FIRs and call centers.
Just the last month, the KP police chief mentioned the public outreach program and how he had used the system to reach out to people stuck in different situations.

iOs and android are two operating systems that have been locking horns for a while now. One tries to overcome the other and the other catch up soon enough. However, there are instances in between where one assists the other. Just like that, iOS is now making it easier for android users to join FaceTime. Yes, the exclusive application on iOS is going to make its way in android phones now. However, there is a catch right now.
For now, this feature itself is available only in the beta testing phase. However, soon it will be made publicly available. Whether you are a fan of FaceTime or not, you may find it fun to use with friends who don’t share a similar passion for iOS.
So, how is it that android users can now get access to this application? No, it has not been made available in the play store. Although, that possibility is not out of the question shortly. However, joining FaceTime right now is a different process. Android users cannot directly join the application, but they can join a call using a link given to them by an iOS user. The iPhone user will go in the FaceTime settings and create a link there.
Then, this link can be shared with specific people, those that the user wants on the FaceTime call. Once the android user clicks on the link, it will redirect them to a lobby where they must wait before entering. It is entirely up to the iOS user who enters the call and who doesn’t. This means that if the URL is sent to a third party, they cannot join the call. After all, FaceTime offers end-to-end encryption.
