Most people assume that dubbing foreign TV dramas is the only way to consume them. That is so not true. While it is one of the few ways, dubbing takes away the real essence the show has when seen in the original language. When a character says a very impactful line but the translation ruins it, it won’t have the same impact, and foreign drama addicts know this too well. And so, people choose to watch dramas in the original language but with subtitles.

But how would you know you are addicted to foreign TV dramas? Here are five signs that can help you figure that out.

1. You don’t look at the screen

Now that when most people try to get their hands on dramas in original languages, they also need subtitles. But the subtitles move at the same speed as the verbal dialogues, so they are fast. So your eyes are almost always fixed at the bottom of the screen rather than at the screen.

2. Unsynced with the whole country

If you are too much into a particular country’s dramas, you won’t just be watching the completed ones but also the ongoing ones. These weekly dramas make you wail for the next episodes, and while you are screaming for them, your fellow citizens can’t relate to it because their hype is for, let’s say Sabaat, and you cry for ‘GOBLIN.’

3. You have dark circles

You forget your studies, you fail to sleep, and you miss out on the food. But all you can think of is one more episode. And the dark circles become your friend. They never leave after that, mainly because you never leave foreign dramas. So with dark circles getting bigger, you keep saying ‘one more episode’ and the drama ends, and you say ‘one more drama.’

4. Unknown words in your vocabulary

Once you get into a foreign drama industry, you start obsessing over everything shown in that. Top of the list is the language. Sometimes subtitles tell you what a phrase means, and sometimes they just sound nice, so you start repeating them in the center of the bus stop (speaking from experience).

5. Food, and you want it

You start obsessing about the food you have never eaten. And you have only seen the actors eat it exotically. So if your mom makes daal chawal and you are thinking of jjajangmyeon, you, my friend, are a foreign drama addict.

These are just a few signs, but if you have them, you are a lost case. But it doesn’t matter to you because you love it, and that’s another sign.

Mango season might be gone, but that must not restrict you from enjoying the beloved fruit all year round. Thanks to science and the frozen fruit market. Mangoes are paired with a variety of dishes because they must not be only enjoyed alone. This means that we can now take mangoes to the next level. And what better way to eat them than making a biryani out of it? Absurd? Absolutely No! Because this recipe has been in the books for so long. Yet, only very few people know about it.

Mango chicken biryani is a spicy, sweet and sour Mughlai treat. Rich, spicy chicken biryani with a base of raw and ripe mangoes. All of them merged beautifully to give the spot-on balance to sourness, sweetness and spiciness. No fancy masalas (spices) are required. All you need is the ingredients that are easily available in every kitchen. Yet, it is one of the easiest biryani to make, which is also delicious.

Ingredients

5 cups basmati rice, soaked for 45 minute
1 kg, Chicken on bones, cut into medium size pieces
1 & 1/2 cup ripe mangoes, finely chopped
350-gram thick yoghurt
2 teaspoon large onions, finely chopped
1 teaspoon turmeric
2 teaspoons coriander powder
2 teaspoons garam masala powder
2 lemons Juice
Salt to taste
Water as needed
6-7 tablespoons oil
Grind to a coarse masala paste
1 & ½ cup raw mangoes, roughly chopped
1/4 cup garlic cloves
2 &1/2 inches ginger piece
8-10 green chillies

Whole Spices

2 inches cinnamon stick
8 cloves
8-10 green cardamoms
2 bay leaves
1 teaspoon, black peppercorns
2 teaspoons cumin seed

For Layering

4-5 green chillies
3/4 cup coriander leaves, very finely chopped
1/3 cup mint leaves
1/2 cup brown onions
1/3 cup Saffron soaked milk
100 ml, melted ghee

Instructions

Clean, wash and drain the chicken pieces. Marinate the chicken with turmeric powder and salt. Heat oil in a large pan. Add the whole spices and fry for a few seconds followed by the chopped onions & salt and saute until translucent. Now, add the marinated chicken pieces and sauté on high, for 4 minutes. Add the prepared paste and sauté on high for another 3-4 minutes. Add the spice powders- turmeric, coriander powder, & garam masala powder.
Once the chicken is done, sprinkle some ghee over the chicken masala. Garnish coriander leaves and mint leaves along with slit chillies and fried onions.
Add curd and mix until blended well. Then add the chopped mangoes and lemon juice. Mix well. Cover and cook until the chicken is done. In a large pan or handi, add enough water and bring it to a boil. Add rice and a few drops of lemon juice along with salt. Cook rice until done.
Gently spread cooked rice over the prepared chicken masala. Top it with saffron milk and pour ghee. Cover it with a tight lid and keep it on simmer for 30 minutes. Switch off the heat and let it stand for a few minutes. Mango chicken biryani is ready to serve. Serve hot with the raita of your choice.

When the Pakistani film industry had completely flopped, the drama industry was indeed flourishing. We got to see some great dramas such as Zindagi Gulzar Hai, Khani, and Udaari. But other than those few, most of them are almost similar and it just not attractive anymore. So we decided to ask Pakistanis themselves what they would like to see on their screens. Or rather, what they would like to change about the Pakistani dramas.

We got a lot of responses. While some of them were hilarious, others were thought-provoking. So anyway, let’s have a look at the responses, shall we?

1. The always crying heroine

And don’t we agree? In fact, in any new show that starts, we can tell by just one look who our main character will be because she would just be crying all the time.

2. Love Story

Love story; it turns out that the only problem in the hero and heroine’s life is love. There could be so much more than that. They could be saving the world even. But that will only come when we get out of the cliched love-hate stories.

3. Loyalty

One of the Insta users said the dramas need to understand the concept of loyalty. They explained it by an example. For instance, in the drama Jalan, Meenu committed suicide, and everyone appreciated it, calling her loyal even though it is straight-up cowardice. Rather than killing her, they should have proceeded with the story by raising her from her ashes and making her an admirable character. In a society with an already high ratio of cruelty and injustice, people should not be taught to be “excessively good”; they should be taught to become strong.

4. Multiple love interests

Well, I mean, I wouldn’t say no to multiple love interests in real life, at least, but for the dramas, yes. The story almost always revolves around ‘two women and one man’ or ‘two men and one woman.’

5. But more importantly, logic.

Someone brought up a very interesting point, and honestly, it makes sense. They said they should be employing logic in the storyline. How? Well, you see, if the heroine knows she is being wronged, she should make use of smartphones and record instead of being pushed around. And honestly, this makes the most sense.

We did get to see a very different storyline with Ghisi Piti Mohabbat and now, hopefully with Shehnai but let’s see how our drama industry will progress further.

Another common mistake many manual transmission drivers make is resting their foot on the clutch. Relaxing the leg can cause the clutch to engage partially and can result in slippage. 4. Never Brake Without Clutch

The clutch is an integral part of a manual car as it helps with the gear engagement. It also plays a vital role in toning down the gears when needed to stop. However, drivers need to make it a habit of not disengaging the clutch until the very end when hitting the brakes.

Keeping the engagement going for as long as possible helps the driver use as much of the natural resistance of the car as possible, creating a shorter stopping distance and reduced wear on the brakes.

5. Never Hit The Gas Pedal When The Engine Is At A Low RPM

Hitting your foot on the gas pedal makes your car go faster. However, when the car engine is at a low RPM, running the clutch will cause significant engine problems in the long-run and will kill the engine’s lifespan.

6. Never Use The Clutch To Hold The Car On A Hill

Assume for a moment that you are stuck in traffic while ascending on a hill. You need to make sure at this point that the vehicle doesn’t start rolling backward. To avoid this, many drivers hold on the clutch biting point so that they are kept in a steady incline.

However, what many drivers are unaware of is that by doing this, they are burning the friction material on the clutch as it spins at a particular speed. At the same time, the engine’s pressure plate moves at another speed-level.

Instead, apply the handbrake to keep your car still until it’s time to move off. Moreover, the vehicle can roll backward and crash into the driver behind if the biting point is not found on time.

7. Never Coast In Neutral To Save Fuel

Many drivers opt for fuel-saving tactics as a way to save some money. Unfortunately, those tactics end up harming the vehicle and causing them to spend a significant amount on repairs. One such common practice is coasting in neutral gear coming down from slopes and hills.

This practice is highly unsafe as drivers do not have complete control over their vehicles in neutral gear. Also, with upgraded engines in modern cars, coasting is no longer a fuel-saving method.

One Biryani One Family is a Shan Ad that shows a man meeting his girl’s family for the first time. The family belongs to Punjab, and they idealize that toxic definition of masculinity. They tease the man for not being healthy, athletic, and being emotional. But events take such a turn that he offers to cook for them. The idea that a man offers to cook showed the ad denouncing that cooking is a woman’s responsibility.

2. Dostea

Dostea aired a series of Pakistani ads. It was the story of a joint family. In one of the installments, they introduce family members and tell us about their careers. With each member, the ad topples a stereotype. For instance, they show the mother to be interested in hunting while the father to be involved in poetry. In another instance, they show one son to be involved in cooking, but his wife is a practicing doctor. And lastly, instead of looking down on the new girl’s hobby of guitar, they appreciate it.

3. Shoop – Trust to Must hai

Okay, so this stereotype is pretty standard. It is so much embedded in our minds that we do not think twice of it. Men will do house errands. Getting groceries or Rotis, moms tell dads or sons to get them. But in this ad, the girl defies two extreme stereotypes. As the mother worries about groceries, her daughter gets up and does so by taking out her bike, a vehicle that most Pakistanis think is not made for girls.

4. Q Mobile –

This Q Mobile’s ad is about a girl interested in cricket. Her father does not want her to continue with it because he thinks that the sport is not for women. He believes that if her daughter continues playing, it will ruin his reputation. But instead of being quietened, the girl stands up for herself and keeps pursuing her dream. When she achieves success, and people appreciate her, that is when the father realizes that he was wrong.

5. Gul Ahmed – Mein Perfect Hoon

Too fat, too slim, spots on face, slanted nose, the stereotype is that girls should hide all this because they are imperfections and girls should be perfect. This fantastic ad empowers women with those exact characteristics that they have been bashed with because it is all in the mindset. If we start believing we are perfect with our imperfections, no one will have the courage to tell us we are not. So instead of girls taking all the comments quietly as they are expected to, this ad tells us that they don’t have to.

These amazing Pakistani ads are not only exciting but also thought-provoking. In a society where stereotypes have taken root for a long time no, these ads are like a breath of fresh air. One can only hope that these breaths will increase in number to become a breeze and, ultimately, a storm that breaks all stereotypes.

This Maggi Oreo Ice Cream Leaves People Disgusted

For many years now, social media has been continuously flooded with recipes — some heavenly, some quirky. Also, being at home during the pandemic has heightened our love for food and the need to experiment with ingredients. You will understand this even better if you are a regular on social media platforms. In that case, you will probably be familiar with almost all the videos featuring odd concoctions mixed up by people. In these clips, the most common category is Maggi being mixed with ingredients that have a completely different taste.

Previously, we came across many such concoctions from maggi milkshake to maggi pani puri. However, if you thought you had seen it all, we dare say NO.

Maggi Icecream

Recently, an Instagram user shared a video on her Instagram feed where she followed a recipe that mixed Maggi with Oreo biscuits and ice cream. She also asked users to share this recipe with someone who can give it a try. The user added Oreo biscuit and ice cream to her Maggi instead of the usual flavouring packet available with the noodles.

She then proceeds to fold the Oreo in the Maggi and then tops it off with some chocolate ice cream. Her experimental recipe emerged to garner mixed reactions from social media, sparking off a debate between having Maggi the classic way or the different way.

The workshop focused on the growing relevance of emotional wellbeing as a factor of employee wellbeing. Organizations can commit to SDG 3 – Good Health and wellbeing, by providing employees facilities which focus on both physical and mental health.

“The business case for employee wellbeing is clear,” remarked Dr. Zeelaf Munir, CEO of EBM. “It increases productivity as a result of a nourishing work environment. In such environments, employees genuinely flourish and grow alongside the company.” She further added how in addition to employee wellbeing, EBM remains committed to introducing initiatives to improve the wellbeing of stakeholders and the community at large.
The workshop was facilitated by the British Asian Trust, featuring experts supporting employee wellbeing mechanisms in the corporate sector. Experts from Taskeen, Saaya health, and Synapse raised awareness of the supportive roles that can be played at an individual level, by line managers in supporting diverse teams, and the importance of the knowledge of mental first aid.

‘The work-life balance is changing, with the advent of social media and technology. It is important now to realise when stress can be a positive driver and when it can lead to distress,’ highlighted Sanaa Ahmed, British Asian Trust. ‘Employee engagement has become key to managing employee health’.

52XRAGE Wins PUBG Mobile Pro League Pakistan With Prize Pool Of PKR 17.6M; Gears Up For South Asian Championship

May 18, 2022 – Adding to its list of innovative achievements in Esports around the world, PUBG MOBILE, the country’s leading online battle royale platform completed its first exclusive pro-level gaming tournament in Pakistan. The 52XRAGE ESPORTS team was declared winners of the tournament earning 186 points, including 63 kills in its 18 matches. They went up against the toughest competition in their rival teams and emerged as the ultimate champions after 25 nail-biting days of competition.

The 2022 PUBG MOBILE Pro League Pakistan Spring (PMPL Pakistan) provides teams a competitive professional platform to battle for prizes. The competition stretched a total of 18 days including 3 days for the Finals where the top 16 teams from the league stages competed against each other. The total prize pool for the competition was PKR 17,600,000 – the highest ever for a PUBG MOBILE Tournament in Pakistan. The top six teams from Pakistan, including the national winner, will advance to the South Asia Championship that takes place from the 19th to 22nd May, 2022 to compete in a nail-biting three-day battle against teams from across South Asia. Last year’s winners of the South Asian tournament were Mongolia and Nepal.

Team TUF secured second place with 174 points and 92 kills, followed by popular team SALTxi8 Esports. The Grounders registered four chicken dinners, the highest count in the Grand Finals and claimed fourth place with 171 points. R3gicide and FreeStyle finished in fifth and sixth place with 166 and 162 points, respectively.

In order to enhance excitement and create a more stable competitive environment, the PMPL will now run on a 1-year-cycle instead of seasonal relegation, which means the teams competing in the upcoming 2022 PMPL Pakistan Spring will also be competing in the Fall Split.

Also following the immense success of the tournament, the PMPL is introducing new updates and changes to the broadcast arrangements of the South Asia Championship. The audience experience will be significantly enhanced by reducing gaps between the matches and creating virtual studios for fans to enjoy the matches. There will be many interesting in-game activities and items prepared especially for the fans and audiences, which you too can explore starting May 19th, 2022. Brand partnerships can add excitement to the consumer market, allowing brands to reach a new audience segment and create hype. Most recently, creating this hype is Adidas and Gucci but the hype is met with criticism rather than appraisal. The luxury brands have collaborated to create an extensive line of accessories. Which also features an umbrella that cannot quite be used in the rain.

“Please note, this item is not waterproof and is meant for sun protection or decorative use,” says the product details on its website.

Featuring a G-shaped lavish birchwood handle and a print design combining the logos of both brands, as it is is emblazoned with Adidas’ trefoil print and Gucci’s signature trim. The “sun umbrella” has sparked wide debate on social media in China since pictures of it went online last week. The Adidas x Gucci collection is expected to be released on June 7.

The umbrella retails for over $1,600. Selling an umbrella with such a high price point which is not even functional is appalling for netizens. The brands first confirmed the collaboration in February this year saying that the partnership combines the heritage and the creative codes of both brands.

A new PlayStation 5 model has apparently been registered by Sony. Causing some to speculate that maybe the PS5 Pro is finally on its way.

Sony PS5 Updates

Following a previous hardware revision last year, a new PS5 model has appeared in Japan. First emerging back in April Sony was granted a construction design certification for it, along with updated radio equipment.

In Japan, all wireless and radio communication technology is required to reach certain standards, hence the ministry’s certification.

According to the reports the new PS5 model features updated radio and wireless communications equipment. Hence requiring design certification from the ministry. The launch models use CFI-1XXX scheme whereas 2021’s revised models followed the CFI-11XX scheme. Accordingly, this PS5 revision appears to be a ‘CFI-1200’ series model.

It’s unknown why Sony is making fresh changes to the PS5, though the answer probably isn’t that exciting. While this doesn’t appear to be a significant PS5 upgrade, the updated radio equipment could be using cheaper components, bringing down overall production costs.

Alternatively, this revision could be designed for better use of existing hardware components. While creating a more efficient power draw that decreases power consumption. Something similar was previously seen when Nintendo updated Nintendo Switch back in 2019. Although this significantly increased the hybrid console’s battery life by 40%.

The Release Date

It’s entirely possible that the redesign is still in the works and may not launch until next year, but the gap between the registration of this model and the release that would satisfy the PS4 Pro timeline is a full year and a half. Furthermore, it’s only been a year and a half since the initial PS5 launch, and while a PS5 Pro or similar product may be in development at PlayStation, it seems a bit early in the console’s life cycle to already have a PS5 Pro registered in Japan.

Sony announced on Tuesday that it shipped 11.5 million PS5 consoles during its financial year ended in March 2022, missing out on its initial target of 14.8 million consoles by over three million units, which it said was due to parts shortages.

However, the company said it expects to sell significantly more consoles during its current fiscal year ending in March 2023, at around 18 million units.

The famous TikTok star Dolly has come under fire, quite literally, over her latest content and it’s getting more heated. The TikTok star made irresponsible content and since then is being debated over. Read what happened here:

What Happened?

Nausheen Saeed aka Dolly is a Pakistani social media star. She has 11 million followers on TikTok. The star is facing intense backlash for her latest video on TikTok because it is a huge environmental hazard. Dolly, was in fact, posing by a forest fire.

In the clip that was posted by Dolly, she can be seen walking in a silver ball gown. In the back, the entire hillside is burning. The caption reads, “Fire erupts wherever I am.” While this may be dramatic and all, the audience has not taken it lightly to this.

There’s been a huge tug of war since the video was posted. Dolly received criticism for posting the video especially knowing the heat waves we’re going through. She later made a statement released by her team that she did not start the fire and there was “no harm in making videos”. However, the video has been taken down since then.

The environmental activist, Rina Saeed Khan Satti also spoke about this. She said, “She should have been holding a bucket of water to extinguish the fire instead of glamorizing it”.

Bad Place and Timing Or Bad Content?

One can not pass judgments on people so soon. To blame Dolly for a whole first fire may seem harsh, we don’t exactly know what was happening. However, what we can say is that it was irresponsible at best because the forest fire could be stopped rather than posed with. Pakistan is going through the worst possible heatwaves and for people to glamourize them is wrong.

We hope the TikToker does not get into trouble greater than her crime.
