The anticipation is finally over as sources reveal Pakistan has finalized the squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. This announcement comes just days before the deadline set by the International Cricket Council (ICC) on May 25.
Leading the charge will be Babar Azam, making his third appearance as captain in a T20 World Cup following the 2021 and 2022 editions.
Fans will be relieved to know that pacer Haris Rauf, who had been sidelined due to injury, has made a successful recovery and is included in the 15-member squad. Hasan Ali, who stepped in for Rauf during the Ireland tour, will join the team as a travelling reserve.
All-rounder Salman Ali Agha and the explosive middle-order batter Irfan Khan are also named as reserves, ready to support the team if needed. However, PCB will officially announce the squad after the first T20I against England on May 22, right before the ICC’s deadline.
Currently, the Green Shirts are in England, gearing up for a crucial four-match T20I series from May 22 to 30. This series is vital, serving as their final preparation before heading to the World Cup.
