Salman Khan Signs Rs. 1000 Crore Deal With Indian Channel

The Bhai of Bollywood seems to be on a roll with his consecutive hits- Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and now the recently released Sultan that made 200 crores in just the opening week. According to recent reports, Salman might be rolling in even more money! Word on the street is, Salman Khan has signed a deal amounting to Rs. 1000 crores with a leading channel for the satellite rights of his films.

A report quoted a source as saying, “Today, stars are raking in the moolah by signing multi-crore deals with channels willing to pay the price. While Ajay Devgn had signed a deal of Rs 400 crore for 10 films with the same channel, at the time, Salman had signed the same for Rs 500 crore starting with Bodyguard-so he was getting paid Rs 50 crore per film then.”

“Varun Dhawan recently inked a deal with a channel where he gets paid Rs 300 crore for 10 films of his. But with Salman’s past few releases all being blockbusters, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, for example – channels are willing to pay him to triple the amount to air his films and have his presence grace their shows, be it reality shows or sports-based programmes. He recently re-negotiated his earlier contract with the same channel,” the insider added.

From the looks of it, Salman Khan couldn’t be in a better position right now, career wise. According to the Geo Films, the distributors of Sultan in Pakistan, has eclipsed the opening weekend record set by Pakistani movie Jawani Phir Nahi Ani on Eidul Azha last year.

Misbah Becomes Oldest Captain to Score Test Century- Delivers 10 Push-Ups as Promised

Thursday, July 14th, was the day Misbah-ul-Haq delivered one of the finest innings seen at Lord’s, giving Pakistan something to be proud of for a long time. The Pakistani captain scored 110 off 179 balls at strike rate of 61.45. The right-handed innings included 18 hits to the fence.

The 42-year-old celebrated reaching the three figure score, in a rather distinctive way. Before acknowledging the fans excited cheers and the spectator’s applause, Misbah saluted to honor the Pakistani Army Officers who helped the team during their preparatory camp before this tour.

He also did 10 push-ups on the field. Which was his promise to the Army officers.

“That was my promise to the army guys when we did our training camp. We used to have an honour code where we were told to step into the ground and do ten push ups. I promised them whenever I got hundred I would do that to remind them (Army) we were there. That was for them and the salute was for the (Pakistan) flag. That was what they asked us to do so I did it for them,” he said.

Misbah and his men spent two weeks at an army boot camp in Abbottabad before this tour. As many young players struggled to perform the tasks assigned, Misbah and Younis Khan emerged as the fittest members of the squad.

Pakistan International Airline (PIA) has released the schedule of Hajj 2016 flights. Kick starting from August 4, 2016, around 50, 000 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia via Hajj operation consisting of 120 flights.

60 flights will be scheduled for Jeddah and the remaining half will leave for Medina.

Hajj Policy 2016 Announced By Pakistani Government

The 1^st flight, PK 2503 will take off from Islamabad to Medina and will take around 400 pilgrims on 4^th August 2016. The 2nd flight PK 2203, will take off from Karachi to Jeddah and will carry around 300 Hajj pilgrims on board.

The flight operation will continue till September 5, 2016 while pilgrims will start to return to Pakistan from September 17, 2016.

The Hajj 2016 operation will be completed by October 16, 2016.

‘Dance Kahani’ Pakistan’s First Dance Movie Trailer, Poster & Release Date

Introducing Pakistani cinema to a new genre, dance films, the local filmmakers are all set to release Pakistan’s first ever dance movie, Dance Kahani, featuring a western lead actress, Madeleine Hanna as Nuzhat/Nizzy. The director of the movie Omar Hassan confirmed that the movie is all set to release on 5th of August 2016.

The makers re-released the Dance Kahani poster recently which showing an elegant Madeleine Hanna in a beautiful ballet pose.

When asked the reason behind the movie’s delay, the director said that previously (in 2014) he did not feel the audience was mature enough for a movie like ‘Dance Kahani’. Dance Kahani is directed and written by Omar Hassan and is being produced under the H2O Films and Ion Entertainment banner in collaboration with Act One.

Pakistani Movie Aksbandh: First Found Footage Film May Hit Screens Soon

According to reports, the movie has been shot on RED using Carl Zeiss lenses and explores the underground scene and free running on the streets of Karachi.

Dance Kahani features over 10 music scores including two dance numbers by Ali Khan and three by one of the lead actors, Alamdar Khan. The movie also stars Vernin U’chong, Abdul Ghani, Shezi Khan, Abdul Rahim, Ramiz Law, Irfan and Barkat Ali.

Previously, coined Dance Diaries, the movie was first expected to release in 2014 with the official teaser and poster revealed in April 2014. However, there is still no word on the release of the movie, apart from a new poster revealed this week.

All the dance sequences and free running scenes have been performed by the cast themselves.

The story revolves around a British-born Pakistani girl, Nuzhat, played by Madeleine Hanna who is forced to end her dream to become a professional ballerina and return to Pakistan. How she survives the local culture and fights against all odds in a society she never wanted to be a part of is what makes this high-octane dance movie so unique.

PTI Approaches PEMRA for Misreporting Imran Khan’s Marriage

Infuriated by the hyped up rumours about Chairman PTI Imran Khan’s third marriage, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf on Wednesday wrote a complaint letter urging Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Aurthority (PEMRA) to take action against the TV Channels that are spreading false claims.

In the letter writer to PEMRA Chairman Absar Alam, media cell of PTI called for strict action to be taken against the TV channels that attempted to show Imran Khan in negative light.

“A delegation of the PTI, headed by Iftikhar Durrani, met Pemra Chairman Absar Alam at PEMRA Headquarters, Islamabad and handed over a formal complaint,” the statement by PEMRA said. “Unethical of media to spread false news of my marriage based upon absolute lies,” tweeted the PTI chief.

Imran Khan said that the channels have been showing pictures of women he had never even met. “Had that happened in the UK, heads would have rolled,” he remarked.

Spreading wrong information about a known personality or anyone for that matter is morally and ethically wrong, referring to the reporting as ‘contrary to the local traditions, general morality and journalistic ethics’.

The letter even claimed that such rumours were well strategized plans “to smear chairman PTI at the time when he is in England to visit his sons”.

The letter stated that rebuttals by PTI’s central information secretary had already been issued but were completely ignored by the channels.

It criticised Pemra for being a ‘silent spectator to the hostility’ carried out against Imran Khan. A day earlier, news channels, quoting unconfirmed reports, stated Imran married a woman, a few days ago in London. Some channels and media showed image of a female as well.

Pemra has referred the PTI complaint to the Council of Complaints, which will take it up for deliberations on July 15^th .

World’s Best Airline for 2016 List Revealed

Emirates has regained its status as king of the skies, retaking the top spot in the 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards — a title held by the airline on three previous occasions. Emirates was also crowned best airline for keeping passengers entertained, an award the carrier has won for the last 12 years.

The freshly announced 2016 Skytrax World Airline Awards see Emirates move back into the top spot as “World’s Best Airline.” Former number one, Qatar Airways, slips into second and Singapore Airlines (second in 2015) moves into third. Turkish Airlines comes seventh and remains the highest-ranking European airline. Lufthansa moves up to 10th, after being ranked 12th in 2015.

Other awards categories see Cathay Pacific come top for cabin cleanliness and Emirates lead the way on inflight entertainment. Pakistan vs England Test Series 2016: All Eyes on Amir as Pakistan Return to Lord’s Stadium

Mohammad Amir will hope to put the 2010 spot-fixing scandal behind him once and for all when he returns to the scene of the crime in the first Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday.

Six years ago, during a Lord’s Test, Amir and Pakistan new-ball partner Mohammad Asif deliberately bowled no-balls on the instructions of captain Salman Butt as part of a sting operation carried out by a tabloid newspaper.

All three received five-year bans from cricket and, together with sports agent Mazhar Majeed, jail terms. Such was the impact of the controversy, the fact teenage sensation Amir took six for 84 in the first innings of that match has largely been forgotten.

For all his time out of cricket, the 24-year-old retains the ability to swing the ball late at sharp pace, as he showed with a first-innings haul of three for 36 in Pakistan’s tour opener against Somerset.

Now Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq believes Amir can win back the trust of cricket fans with the sheer quality of his play.

“His mood is good,” said Misbah during a pre-match press conference at Lord’s on Wednesday.

“He’s just focusing on what he has to do in the ground,” added the veteran batsman, making his first Test tour of England at the advanced age of 42.

“He is really responding well to that and I hope it’s a big opportunity for him, and that he comes on to the field and performs for Pakistan, to win the people again.”

Amir is far from the only threat in a Pakistan bowling line-up also featuring fellow left-armer Wahab Riaz and leg-spinner Yasir Shah.

That means an England side missing the injured duo of all-time leading wicket-taker James Anderson and all-rounder Ben Stokes, should not have things all their own way as they did in the preceding 2-0 home series win over Sri Lanka.

England captain Alastair Cook, who played in the infamous 2010 match, has long been an advocate of a ‘zero tolerance’ approach to fixing.

However, he has no qualms facing Amir again.

“I’ve said all along I don’t think match fixers should be allowed to play but at that time he was given his punishment,” said Cook.

“He’s served it, so he’s absolutely entitled to come back.”

Skilful

Opening batsman Cook, England’s all-time leading Test run-scorer, added: “One thing not in question with Mohammad Amir is that he is a decent bowler.

“He does not get a wicket every time he bowls a ball, so we have to be careful not to build him up in our own minds — but we know how skilful he is.”

Pakistan have a strong middle order in Misbah, fellow veteran Younis Khan and the in-form Asad Shafiq.

But doubts persist over openers Mohammad Hafeez and Shan Masood, just as there are concerns as to whether Alex Hales, yet to score a Test hundred, is the right man to partner Cook at the top of England’s order.

The combative Riaz is looking to target Joe Root, now promoted to number three by England.

For Root, whose Yorkshire colleague Gary Ballance has been recalled at number five, that was just “trash talk”.

But Riaz said of Root: “He is the backbone of the England team and getting him out early will put the pressure on England.

“If he thinks it is just trash talk then hats off to him.”

England will give a debut to Nottinghamshire quick Jake Ball in Anderson’s absence and he is set to open the attack with county colleague Stuart Broad.

Anderson bowled in the nets at Lord’s but England have decided not to rush their prize asset back from a shoulder injury.

“Of course, there is always a temptation to take that gamble,” said Cook.

But with three more games to come in this series, including the second Test at Lancashire legend Anderson’s Old Trafford home ground a week on Friday, caution won out.

“The selectors have decided it’s too much of a risk to go for it,” Cook explained.

The Pakistani action thriller film ‘Sawal 700 Crore Dollar Ka ‘ directed by Jamshed Jan Muhammad earned more than Rs 10m, according to box-office reports.

The movie that was released on Eid ul Fitr saw a record business of 1.2 crores for a Pakistani movie despite being pinned up against the likes of big budgeted movies such as Bollywood movie Sultan and much awaited Hollywood movies such as, The Legend of Tarzan, Finding Dory and Ice Age 5.

The movie that stars veteran actors like Jawed Sheikh, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Ismail Tara, Nayyar Ejaz, and Shamoon Abbasi with newcomers Qurat ul Ain and Ghulam Mohiuddin’s son Ali Mohiuddin, is a suspense and action based comedy shot in Thailand and Sri Lanka.

Talking to the media, Ali Mohiuddin said he surprised by the response they got from the public. “The response has been phenomenal. It has made my passion and dedication to work in the film industry more strong,” he said.

Veteran actor Ghulam Mohiuddin, who stars in the movie alongside his son Ali, said it is a good sign for the film industry that people have shown such an overwhelming response to a Pakistani movie.

“In comparison to Indian movie my son’s film came in the second highest grosser at the box office. If you make a good movie the people would definitely love to see it,” he said.
“There is a lobby that works for their own vested interests and works against Pakistani movies in favor of Indian films. The mindset is simply destroying our film industry,” he added.

A long weekend ensured that movies saw a record rise in the number of tickets sold, something which is new for our cinemas.

However, with the opening of new screens like Weplex, Universal Cinemas, Xinhua Mall, Shaheen, Cinepanx Murree and Gujrat, rise in moviegoers was witnessed this time around.

Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq won the toss and elected to bat in the first Test against England at Lord’s on Thursday. As expected, Pakistan’s Mohammad Amir returned for his first Test appearance since the infamous ‘spot-fixing’ match against England at Lord’s in 2010.

That match saw Amir and Pakistan new-ball partner Mohammad Asif deliberately bowl no-balls on the instructions of then captain Salman Butt as part of a sting operation carried out by a tabloid newspaper.

All three received five-year bans from cricket and, together with sports agent Mazhar Majeed, jail terms.

For all his time out of cricket, the 24-year-old Amir retains the ability to swing the ball late at sharp pace, as he showed with a first-innings haul of three for 36 in Pakistan’s drawn tour opener against Somerset before he was rested from last week’s draw with Sussex.

Pakistan fielded three left-arm quicks Thursday in Amir, Wahab Riaz and Rahat Ali, with leg-spinner Yasir Shah completing a four-man attack.

This was Pakistan’s first series in England since 2010 and Thursday’s match was the 42-year-old Misbah’s first appearance at Lord’s.

England had already named their side on Wednesday, with Nottinghamshire quick Jake Ball given a debut in place of James Anderson, England’s all-time leading wicket-taker.

Anderson, although eager to prove his fitness following a shoulder injury, was left out of England’s squad for this match even though coach Trevor Bayliss and captain Alastair Cook were reportedly keen for him to be included.

Ball has taken 37 first-class wickets at an average of just 22 so far this season.

Before the start of play he was presented with his Test cap by his uncle and former England wicket-keeper Bruce French.

England, who recently won a three-match home series against Sri Lanka, recalled Gary Ballance to their batting line-up after Nick Compton opted to take time out of cricket.

Joe Root was set to fill Compton’s place at number three — even though his Test average as a top three batsman is under 34 compared to the mark of more than 63 batting at four or five.

Ballance was due to bat at number five.

An initially sunny day at Lord’s would have encouraged Misbah to bat first although the skies had clouded over a touch after he won the toss.

But so good have the pitches been at Lord’s this season, that all of Middlesex’s County Championship matches at the ground have ended in draw. This is the first of a four-Test series

The 1st Test match between England and Pakistan cricket series will be played today at 15.00 PST at Lord’s Cricket Stadium. Mohammad Hafeez will be opening the innings from Pakistan’s side. Shan Masood will be the other opener. Mohammad Amir, Imran Khan, Yasir Shah and Wahab Riaz will be leading the pace attack. Yasir Shah will be the only spin bowler in today’s Pak vs England test series opening match.

The match will be starting at 3 pm Pakistan Standard Time (PST) and 12 pm at British Standard Time (BST). Ten Sports and PTV sports will be live broadcasting all the matches in UAE and Pakistan.

TV Channels like ESPN Sports, Star Sports, Super Sports, Sky Sports & Fox Sports might be broadcasted live. The series is made up of 5 ODIs, 4 Tests and a T-20 match.

Misbah-ul-Haq will be the captain of the national test team while Sarfraz Ahmed and Azhar Ali will lead the team in Twenty20 and ODIs.

Pokémon Go, the real world adventure video game has not officially released in Pakistan yet, but it has already gripped thousands of players in the country who are concerned about finding Pokestops and Gyms in Pakistan.

Catching Pokemons in the game is real fun, but to battle with your Pokemons you have to visit Gyms and Pokestops, places occasionally from where you can collect eggs and more Poke Balls. Thanks to the Pokemon Go Pakistani players, who have compiled a list of these places in the country which contain Pokestops and Gyms prior to the official release of the game.

It was initiated by a Pakistani player Imdad Khan, who, with the help of other players in the country pooled all the information together to locate all known Gyms and Pokestops on a map.

By far, it has 65 locations in Karachi, 35 in Lahore, 63 in Islamabad /Rawalpindi, 3 in Multan, 3 in Bhera, 3 in Abbotabad and 1 in Rahim Yar Khan. Most of the Pokestops are either situated around mosques or near big open parks as per information collected by these players.

The green points on the map are known as Gyms while the red ones are labeled as Pokestopes. A few locations have also been marked with blue, indicating a ‘Potential Pokestop’.

Wasim Akram Receives Honorary Scholarship from UCLAN

Arsalan Hyder, the cricketer’s manager confirmed that the head of assessments and awards approached them from UCLAN and that it had been in discussion for quite some time.

Aamir Khan’s Dangal Movie to Release In Pakistan Under The Banner of IMGC

Amir Khan’s much-hyped Dangal is all set for its mega release by the end of this year. The latest buzz is that it will be opening its way to cinemas in Pakistan under the banner of IMGC .

According to Boxofficedetail, IMGC will be the distributor of Khan’s upcoming action film all over the nation.

It was rumoured some time ago that Aamir Khan will be postponing his movie Dangal because of the similarities the movie holds with Salman Khan’s Sultan, releasing on Eid. However, it seems as if these rumours were a lie.

According to a leading publisher, Dangal will be releasing in December as planned originally.

“Aamir has no plans to shift the release date of Dangal to 2017. His film is definitely releasing in December.” However, the release date has now been pushed from December 23rd to December 16th. “An official announcement will be made soon,” revealed a source.

“Releasing the film a week before will ensure the film has three weeks of free run till the second week of January, much like it did with PK and Dhoom:3,” added a source.

Two B-Town movies, including Salman Khan’s Sultan and Aamir Khan’s Dangal based on wrestling, are about to release this year and the most shocking part of the release is that the scripts of both films have an unusual resemblance.

The director of the film Sultan, Ali Abbas Zafar in an interview revealed, “It’s bizarre when I wrote this script, I had no idea that there was any other film that was ever going to get made on wrestling. I wrote this film in 2012, it’s almost four years since. And I can tell you now that the first draft of Sultan was called Dangal. The first 10 pages, which I mailed to Adi, was titled Dangal.”

Disclosing more about the film title, Zafar said that the title ‘Sultan’ belonged to Ramesh Turani, giving him the rights to the title for Salman’s sake. He added that the story of the film Sultan reveals a broader aspect of fighting.

Zafar disclosed that he started writing the script in 2012. The first 10 pages completely resembled the script of Dangal.

On the other hand, a report in dnindia.com revealed that Zafar had earlier contacted the director of Dangal to discuss the script and had even offered him to remove the similar parts of Sultan and Dangal from the script.

But as Sultan was on an early release than Dangal, the director of Dangal never felt a need to erase anything from the movie.

HBL’s Pakistan Super League, also known as PSL, is getting ready to welcome season 2 in February 2017. As of now, not many details and names of players who may join the league have been disclosed. Here’s a list of players we may see in the tournament according to rumors, and other details being speculated about the most awaited tournament of 2017.

1. Brendon McCullum- New Zealand

Brendon McCullum is the former captain of the Black Caps (New Zealand) team. The star cricketer was born on September 27, 1981. Mr. McCullum, also known as B-Mac or Big Mac has played 101 test matches, 250 ODI matches, 148 FC, and 305 LA. He has scored 6,453 runs in test, 6,083 in ODI, 8,902 runs in FC and 7,140 in LA.

He was honored with the guard upon his entry during the Test Match in Australia, played on 22 February, and was also given a standing ovation, as it was his last match.

He was scored 12 test centuries, 5 One-Day centuries, 2 Twenty20 centuries, and has achieved 4 Man of the Match awards, 1 Man of the series and 5 Man of the match awards in One-Day series, followed by 1 Player of the Series award and 7 Man of the Match awards in Twenty20.

According to a report by ARY News, PCB has been in talks with the player to invite him to season 2.

2. Mitchell Johnson- Australia

Being a part of the Kangaroos for over a decade, Mitchell Johnson has recently retired from the squad and was also one of the players to be contacted by PCB for PSL season 2. The fast-arm left bowler, now free from his national team, will be available to be a part of the league, however, until the squad members are finalized, anything can happen.

The 34-year-old has played 73 test matches, 153 ODI, 117 FC, and 184 LA, securing 313 wickets in tests, 239 in ODI, 465 in FC, and 284 in LA matches.

The cricketer also has successfully scored a test century by running 123 runs against South Africa in 2009. Mr. Johnson has also achieved 12 five-wicket hauls in test matches, 3 ten-wicket hauls in test matches, and 3 five-wicket hauls in One Day International.

He gained his first wicket while playing Thailan Samaraweera from Sri Lanka in 2007 and his 313th (last wicket), Martin Guptill of New Zealand in 2015 in test matches. His first ODI wicket was Khaled Maqshud in 2006 and last wicket, 239^th, was Matt Henry from New Zealand also in 2015.

However, in May, he declined that there will only be 5 teams, the original ones.

Artificial Sweeteners May Cause Overeating

With their zero-calorie content, artificial sweeteners are often recommended as part of a healthy diet for weight loss or controlling diabetes. However, these synthetic sugar substitutes could actually stimulate appetite, leading to increased calorie consumption of up to 30%, according to an Australian study published in the journal “Cell Metabolism.”

A team of researchers from the University of Sydney has studied the effects of artificial sweeteners on human and animal brains for the first time. Often recommended to dieters looking to limit their sugar intake, the research shines a less favorable light on such products.

Billions of people worldwide regularly consume sucralose, a sugar substitute with no nutrients or calories derived from sucrose — common table sugar. It’s notably found in the majority of artificial sweeteners sold commercially.

Other well-known sweeteners — mostly used as food additives — include aspartame, acesulfame potassium, neotame, alitame, cyclamate and saccharine.

The scientists exposed fruit flies to diets with high levels of artificial sweeteners for prolonged periods of time (more than five days). They found that the chronic consumption of artificial sweeteners promoted hyperactivity, insomnia, glucose intolerance, a more intense perception of sweetness, and an increase in appetite and in calories consumed.

“We found that inside the brain’s reward centers, sweet sensation is integrated with energy content. When sweetness versus energy is out of balance for a period of time, the brain recalibrates and increases total calories consumed,” said lead researcher Associate Professor Greg Neely. The sweeteners essentially cause the brain to send a message that not enough energy has been consumed, triggering a kind of starvation response that makes food taste even better.

When “regular” sugar is eaten, dopamine is released in the brain and blood sugar levels rise, causing a secondary stimulation to produce dopamine. When eating artificial sweeteners, dopamine produces the initial sensation of pleasure, but the second effect doesn’t occur because sugar-free sweeteners have no impact on blood sugar levels. As a result, the body sends signals requesting more food to compensate.

The same effect was observed in mice.

A previous study, published in 2014 in the American Journal of Public Health, found that people who were overweight or obese ate more when they drank artificially sweetened “diet” drinks. This kind of drink was linked to increased energy intake ranging from 88kcal per day for overweight participants to 194 kcal for obese participants.
