This time, the Youtuber targetted McDonald’s and decided to place an order via its UAN number.

Changing his accent to that of a ‘Paindu Punjabi’, Ducky Bhai just pulled the most savage prank on McDonald’s and annoyed the eatery’s customer service representative like a boss!

However, the guy called Haider remained calm and gave an example of how to be perfect spokesperson.

Panda Bonds Pakistan: All you need to Know

For the first time in history, the federal cabinet has approved a new financial strategy called Panda-Bonds in Pakistan. These bonds will become the new and favorable method to raise foreign exchange.

In a meeting on Thursday headed by Prime Minister Imran Khan, the strategy received approval. On the occasion, spokesperson to Finance Ministry Dr. Khaqan Najeeb shared that the Panda Bonds have been finalized after many meetings, consultations with Chinese Banks and several regulatory authorities in China and even stock exchange.

He said:

They will help government diversify investor base of capital market issuance and provide a source of raising renminbi (RMB)

What are Panda Bonds?

A Panda bond is a Chinese renminbi-denominated bond from a non-Chinese issuer, sold in the People’s Republic of China. These bonds were first issued in 2005 by the International Finance Corporation and the Asian Development Bank.

The Chinese government had been negotiating for several years about implementation details before permitting the sale of such bonds; they had been concerned about the possible effects on their currency peg.

How Will Panda Bonds Benefit Pakistan?

According to the spokesperson, the bonds will help Pakistan’s government to diversify the current investor base in capital market insurance and will also be used as a source of raising Renminbi.

Furthermore, he added that the tenor, size and pricing will be determined according to the market response at the time of issuance. The spokesperson also mentioned that the issuance will be done in several rounds.

As of now, expectations are high and a good response is currently being shown by investment groups and Chinese Banks.

The Idea of Panda Bonds in Pakistan

The idea of introducing the Panda Bonds in Pakistan was going on for some time now. The idea initially was going around during PML-N’s time.

However, the decision was delayed due to the Debt Office in the Ministry of Finance had cautioned the government to review the fluctuation of Chinese currency versus US Dollar before moving forward.

According to official sources:

The timing of launching the bond has importance and now the government has decided to explore this option in the second half of the current fiscal year

The Chinese Renminbi-denominated Panda Bond will be accomplished in two tranches in Shanghai (China) and expected to fetch half a billion dollars.

Issuance of Panda Bonds

The RMB-based Panda Bond will fetch equivalent to $200 million and in the second tranche, it can go up equivalent to $300 million within the ongoing fiscal year.

Honda Pakistan has shared a teaser with the tagline ‘Leaving a Lasting Impression’ was shared followed by another image of a shark-fin antenna- is there as Honda City Facelift 2020 en route?

It is highly possible that Honda is bringing a facelift version of their popular Honda City on the streets in 2020.

Reportedly, the new variant will sport the new shark antenna, will also have new door protectors, chrome handles, bumper reflectors, and more.

However, there are mixed reactions on Honda’s page in regards to the car. Reportedly, the word ‘new’ has been quite exploited by many manufacturers, particularly Honda.

For almost a decade now, the City has been in existence and their facelift models are the same cars repeating themselves with slight cosmetic changes.

5G Pakistan Public Trials Underway by PTA

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has shared its plans to introduce 5G technology in Pakistan. Reportedly, public trials will be conducted within the country.

The draft framework for test and development has been issued by the regulator on Wednesday.

According to PTA, the rapid growth and potential within the sector when it comes to mobile data has enhanced mobile broadband experience leading to an emphasis on the introduction of 5G in Pakistan.

Seen as a comprehensive wireless-access solution with the capacity to address the demands and requirements of mobile communication beyond IMT-2020, it is projected that this technology will operate in a highly heterogeneous environment and provide ubiquitous connectivity for a wide range of devices, new applications and use cases – PTA

According to PTA, the Government of Pakistan policy directive based framework is an open invitation to all stakeholders to participate in the 5G Pakistan trials. Reportedly, the framework has only been issued for a temporary testing period.

DailyTimes reports that the Frequency Allocation Board (FAB) shall assign the spectrum to be used for subject trials which shall become effective from the date of Authorization issued by PTA.

The Test & Development Authorization allows an applicant to use spectrum on non-exclusive, non-commercial basis temporarily for the testing purposes.

The trial shall last somewhere around 3-6 months.

J. Walter Thompson Pakistan Shuts Down Operations in Lahore

Update: We have just confirmed from an official (confidential) source at J. Walter Thompson (JWT) Pakistan that the news of shutdown of operations is limited to Lahore only and not nationwide as earlier mentioned in a post by Media Coordinator Walter Pakistan Mr. Naeem Sadiq on Khalid Alvi Marketing Next.

The World’s Largest Advertising company, J. Walter Thompson (JWT) has decided to exit and close down all operations in Lahore.

Mr. Sadiq writes:

In a move that came as a ‘shock’ to staff, J. Walter Thompson has shuttered its Pakistan operation in Lahore.

Reportedly, this decision comes after the company announced that it is taking cost-cutting measures globally in the face of troubling financing times.

Amir Rizvi, Group Account Director at J. Walter Thompson in Lahore shared that the news came as a shocker to all employees who have been a part of the JWT family for some time now.

Rizvi said:

Out of the blue an email was circulated that JWT will be handing all operations over to Grey and will be exiting Pakistan

Although Mr. Rizvi has stated that the company will be exiting Pakistan, our source says this statement is incorrect- only the JWT Lahore office is closing.

He further on added that many of the staff members have become dishearted after this news broke out as they feel it was not the right way to address the situation.

The former employees of JWT Lahore addressed the CEO’s of WPP agencies expressing their disappointment on the termination of all jobs and operations without any prior warning or indication.

The letter reads as followed:

When Hameed Shahbaz, GM JWT Lahore Office resigned, the clients were not taken into confidence. The new appointee GM Ali Nawaz Gondal also resigned within a couple of weeks.

After his resignation, nobody was given charge of Lahore office. No GM was hired. Nobody was promoted within the office to be the GM. The office was running like a headless chicken but the higher management in the Karachi office did not act and put everything at stake. Client were worried because of a communication gap.

A few more people also resigned from account management and design department, but nobody was hired or assigned to take up the responsibilities. The company gave no prior notice to shut down the Lahore office.

The announcement was abrupt and shocking. CEO/CFO/Company Secretary and HR Manager visited the Lahore office and unprofessionally asked everyone to resign or face termination. The term “offensive termination” was used to unethically pressurize the employees to resign.

Omer Yousuf Murad, the CFO of J. Walter Thompson in Pakistan was also named in the letter the Lahore office employees rolled out. In the letter, they mention that they were not given any time to seek other job opportunities.

Without any official notice on email or inter-company discussions, a letter was sent to the employee’s home resulting in devastation for many of them. The letter was reportedly dispatched on 13th December.

The employees replied by writing the following:

It was mental torture for us and the people at home. We were extremely shocked and disappointed. JWT-Lahore has been working with minimum resources for the last decade or so.

It is the only office which gives around 30% profit, while the Karachi office is running at $200,000 loss, and Islamabad office is on break even. We cannot comprehend the idea why clients are being fired that are willing to work with Lahore office.

Every single individual works here with passion and dedication. Above all, we are told that it is a global decision to close this office. We are highly saddened by the current chain of events.

The letter concludes with the following statement:

It is a matter of WPP repute in the market. Some have started their careers, some are mid-career while some are nearing retirement, will it be possible for us to remove this blemish of termination from our profiles.

This letter was officially signed by 14 employees, they are as followed:

Many were in shock as to how such a huge company decided to shut down operations in such a manner.

Proton Exora Spotted on the Streets of Lahore!

Malaysian automotive manufacturer Proton was in talks with Al-Haj Group to tap into the potential market of Pakistan. Reportedly, Proton Exora was spotted on the streets of Lahore.

Proton has also become the exclusive distributor as well as assemblers of Proton vehicles in Pakistan in collaboration with Al-Haj Group.

The Exora was being tested for the very first time within the nation. When Al-Haj was questioned about the vehicle, they had confirmed that the cars are in test-phase.

Furthermore, it is reported that the vehicle had a registered license plate (BNR-688) and was verified from the excise and taxation website.

The agreement between Al-Haj and Proton encourages the arrival of sedans SUVs, MPVs, crossovers, and hatchbacks in Pakistan.

It is also reported that Al-Haj has purchased land for the manufacturing plant to produce Proton vehicles including the Proton Exora in Karachi.

The Exora is a 7-seater MVP vehicle which comes in 2 variants the executive CVT and Executive Plus CVT. It is equipped with a 1.6l 125 hp engine.

Reportedly, the manufacturer is also testing the 3rd gen Proton Saga on the streets of the country as well.

Asides Proton, many other big names in the global automotive industry have shown interest in Pakistan. Many of them have already entered into the market, these names include KIA, Hyundai, Renault, and others.

Chinese manufacturer Huawei has made waves in the technology sector all around the world! The brand is now the world’s second-biggest smartphone manufacturer and has cemented its position.

The company was reported to have surpassed one of the world’s largest tech giants, Apple Inc. Huawei has released an official statement claiming that it has now successfully shipped more than 200 million smartphones in 2018- including both Huawei and Honor sets.

Huawei controlled 10.4% of the global smartphone market in 2017, behind Samsung Electronics’ 21.6% and Apple’s 14.7%, according to the International Data Corp. It kept its place ahead of Apple in July-September as well. Apple shipped 215.8 million units in 2017.

Gourmet Ice Cream Units Sealed, Owners Summoned to Court

Punjab Food Authority (PFA) had previously announced 47 ice cream brands as ‘unfit’ for human consumption. A total of 156 brands were tested in the laboratory. Some of the top brands of the province including Gourmet Ice Cream was also declared unsafe.

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court of Pakistan declared for all Gourmet Ice Cream units across the province to be sealed.

The owners, including those behind Gourmet Foods and GNN News, were asked to be summoned to the courthouse.

PFA DG Muhammad Usman apprised that harmful bacteria was found in samples of ice cream produced by Gourmet.

He added that the authorities should seal the existing stock of the ice-cream brand from its outlets and dispose of it.

He said that GNN news channel, which was owned by the Gourmet group, started a “character assassination” campaign against him after the operation against the brand’s ice cream.

After the PFA request, Cheif Justice has ordered the authorities to examine all products of Gourmet Foods for quality assurance.

Many raids and operations have been conducted all across Punjab and Sindh in the past few weeks. They doubled in number after two minors had passed away in the controversial Arizona Grill food poisoning case.

Since then, many eateries have been issued fines or have been warned to improve the hygienic condition and the quality of food or else serious consequences will be taken.

FIA Takes Action on Complaint of The Legend of Maula Jatt’s Producer

Responding to the complaint lodged by the Legend of Maula Jatt’s producer, Ammara Hikmat, FIA has summoned the CEO of Bahoo Corporation for committing online defamation through cyberstalking and incitement.

Sarwar Bhatti, the CEO of Bahoo Corporation and the producer of Maula Jatt 1979, had challenged the making of The Legend of Maula Jatt claiming it to be the violation of his copyrights.

With its order issued on 07.08.2018, the IP tribunal Lahore made it clear that no violation of the copyright of Sarwar Bhatti has been done by Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari, who jointly own the literary rights needed to produce The Legend of Maula Jatt.

However, the only conflict in the copyrights was the usage of the title Maula Jatt alone but the addition of other words to the title doesn’t stop Bilal Lashari and Ammara Hikmat to use it.

Previously, films with titles Maula Jatt Te Noori Natt, Maula Jatt in London and Shagird Maula Jatt Da, have been produced and no issue of copyrights were raised. Roshan Jatt, Maula Te Mukkho, Maula Saeen, Kise De Maula are some of the movies written by Nasir Adib which include the characters he has introduced in his film Wehshi Jatt (1975) even before writing Maula Jatt (1979).

Therefore the title ‘The Legend of Maula Jatt’ for a new story and screenplay totally saves the producer and director from any potential legal trouble.

According to the producer of The Legend of Maula Jatt, Sarwar Bhatti has been asking for an extortionate amount of 25 crores just for the right to use the title (which as per IPO’s laws fall under literary rights owned by Nasir Adib), producer’s credit in the film, condition to distribute The Legend of Maula Jatt only through his company Bahoo Corporation and share in revenue.

Ammara Hikmat has accused Sarwar Bhatti and his accomplices for inaccurately portraying the facts and misleading view, based on perverse understanding of the law of copyright and trademark and for attempting to mislead the public at large to believe that The Legend of Maula Jatt is being produced in violation of the copyrights owned by the producer of Maula Jatt 1979.

Although ‘the Order’ issued by the IP Tribunal Lahore made it clear that the two copyrights in the respective films are not in conflict of each other in any manner and there is no legal hindrance on Ammara Hikmat and Bilal Lashari to stop The Legend of Maula Jatt from releasing, Mr. Bhatti challenged ‘the Order’ in the High Court where he also failed to get any stay order against the release of the movie.

After he was refused relief from all forums, Mr. Bhatti deliberately started a campaign against The Legend of Maula Jatt, which is receiving rave reviews after the release of its trailer.
