The film will follow the struggles of this boy who will embark on an emotional journey to achieve his goals after rebelling against the family.

Proton to Establish First Facility in South Asia in Pakistan

Proton will establish its first facility in South Asia in the form of a factory in Pakistan.

The plant will be a joint effort between the Malaysian automotive Proton and their local partner Al-Haj automotive.

The news was shared by the high commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan Ikram Mohammad Ibrahim, reported Bernama.

Both Proton and Al-Haj signed the agreement last year as the Malaysian automotive giant sees great potential in the Pakistani and South Asain markets.

Pakistan has ranked 22nd as one of the world’s most powerful countries as per reports by US News and World Report rankings.

The rankings examine countries on the basis of its political and financial influence as well as alliances, military strength, and how it stands out as a leading country.

The rankings were opinion-based and were conducted in collaboration with the University of Pennslyvania for which 20,000 individuals were asked about 80 countries.

The United States has ranked number one, while India has grabbed the number 17 spot. The UAE is ranked number 11 while Saudi Arabia is at number nine.

Pakistan was ranked at #22 in 2018 as well. Its GDP was totaled at $305.0 billion, with a population of 197.0 million and GDP per Capita, PPP at $5,378.

US News has also written a descriptive profile for Pakistan. The site reads:

IPL 2019: PEMRA Bans Coverage in Pakistan

The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has been directed by the government of Pakistan to ban all coverage of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 in Pakistan.

PEMRA is not allowed to air any content or any means of coverage for IPL as a result of India taking the same decision for Pakistan Super League (PSL). A summary in this regard has been forwarded to the cabinet for approval.

As per the reports, PEMRA has ensured that the ban on IPL coverage will be implemented in its true letters and spirit. The ban can mean a loss for IPL of a multi-million dollar lucrative Pakistani market.

This week, social media had a meltdown after Careem’s latest billboard, featuring a runaway bride sparked a massive debate.

In a bid to promote its bike service, the ride-hailing brand launched a marketing campaign with a catchphrase ‘Apni Shadi se Bhagna hai to Careem Bike karwao’ (If you want to run away from your own wedding call a Careem Bike).

The dolled up ‘dulhan’ flaunting cool sunglasses looked all set to flee from her own marriage ceremony.

While some have called the campaign light-hearted humor and creative, others have called out the brand claiming that they have stepped to an all-time low by promoting such actions. The copy used goes against the cultural values and traditions and encourages unconventional behavior. On the flip side, it raised the issue of forced marriages.

Samsung S10 Plus Defeats Apple iPhone XS Max in Speed Test

In a speed test done by one of YouTube’s popular tech channels called  PhoneBuff, the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus and Apple iPhone XS Max went head-to-head with one another for a speed test.

iPhone XS Max was declared the previous champion by PhoneBuff, however, the defending champion failed to carry on the title and lost to the Samsung S10 Plus.

The test did show one interesting fact, which is that Samsung mobiles have since improved and have shown growth compared to their predecessors.

Google Inbox is Shutting Down!

The iPhone XS Max ended the first round at 1:50 while the S10 Plus finished it at 1:54. Round 2 was when the competition got more intense and interesting.

Round one was all about testing the raw processing power of both of the phones, while round two tested the RAM management and app optimization of the devices.

Initially, the iPhone XS Max had taken the lead until the S10 Plus picked up the momentum and won.

Snapchat is Finally Paying Creators!

Karachi Ranks as the Sixth Cheapest City in the World!

The metropolis city of Karachi has been ranked as the sixth cheapest city in the world to live in, according to the Economist Intelligence Unit survey.

The Economist Intelligence Unit survey compared more than 400 individual prices across 160 products and services in 133 cities.

These include food, drink, clothing, household supplies, and personal care items, home rents, transport, utility bills, private schools, domestic help, and recreational costs.

Three Indian cities have also made it to the top ten least expensive cities in the world, with New Delhi at number 8.

Caracas, Venezuela remained at the first spot among the top ten cheapest cities, followed by Damascus, Syria and Tashkent, Uzbekistan at number 2 and 3 respectively.

On the other hand, Paris ranked first among the world’s most expensive cities (it was the second-most-expensive city last year), alongside Hong Kong and Singapore according to this survey.

This is the first time in the 30-year history of the annual Economist Unit survey that three cities have shared the first position.

According to BBC, the Economist Intelligence Unit noted that costs in the cheapest cities were low by western standards, partly because low wages limiting household spending are the norm there.

The report said that the impact of political or economic disruption, citing crisis-hit Caracas in Venezuela and war effects in Syria is the reason why a “growing number of locations” are becoming cheaper.

There is a considerable element of risk in some of the world’s cheapest cities.

Put simply, cheaper cities also tend to be less liveable.

Alongside Karachi, Nigerian city Lagos also ranked sixth among the top ten cheapest cities in the world.

One of the popular Snapchat creators Cyrene Quiamco was taken on-board for a campaign to help promote McDonald’s new donut sticks.

“It’s my birthday week,” Quiamco told Ad Age last week. “I sent a story to my fans today saying, ‘What’s better than birthday cake? McDonald’s donut sticks with my sidekick Ele (an augmented-reality character on the platform that she created).”

Snapchat has been trying to give its top creators some kind of benefit in return. Ele is also one of the first AR sidekicks and influencer to have been introduced on Snapchat.

“I’ve seen no slowdown on brand interest for AR,” Quiamco says. “For AR creators, Snap is the app to go to. For other types of creators, it’s still a different story.”

Quiamco is a founding member of Snapchat’s official creator communities for Storytellers and Lens makers.

Snapchat has 186 million daily users, and 70 percent of those people play with Lenses every day, according to the company, reports AdAge.

Furthermore, AdAge reported that for every time a Snap Story mentioned McDonald’s, she earned a massive $30,000! This goes to show that brands are on the hunt for influencers who are creative and are giving them something new.

On January 4th, Atlas Honda launched the much-awaited CB 125F 2019 variant.

For a couple of days, there was a piece of news circulating around that Honda will be introducing a 125cc bike in the markets soon.

The new CB 125F 2019 has been launched in 2 different trims- basic and special edition. Reportedly, just the Honda CG 125 the bike comes with a four-stroke OHV air-cooled engine.

It has a sporty and bold design and comes with a fuel capacity of 12.3L and both self-start and kick-start options to make the experience easier for bikers according to their preference. It also boasts a 5-speed gear transmission along with three color options- red, blue, and black.

However, the brand took a very different twist in their latest campaign to promote its Careem Bike service.

The billboard reads ‘apni shaadi se bhaagna ho tou Careem Bike karo!’ (If you want to run away from your own wedding call a Careem Bike). The billboard also had a girl all dolled up for her wedding who is ready to become a ‘runaway bride’.

While some have called the campaign light-hearted humor and creative, others have called out the brand claiming that they have stepped to an all-time low by promoting such actions. The copy used goes against the cultural values and traditions and encourages unconventional behavior. On the flip side, it does raise the issue of forced marriages.

Careem & Uber Prohibited from Entering Airport Premises!

Jinnah International Airport Karachi has now prohibited Pakistan’s top ride-hailing services Uber and Careem from entering the limits or the premises of the airport’s ‘long stay parking area’.

A warning has been placed in the form of a notice board at the Jinnah Terminal entrance reading:

The vehicles of Uber & Careem are prohibited to enter in Parking area and pickups from Airport is also banned, In case of Violation strict action will be taken including impounding of vehicles.’

According to available details, these online booking services have been banned. In case if the rule is violated, there will be strict action taken against the drivers, the vehicles will be confiscated and thrown in the vehicle compound.

Previously, Allama Iqbal International Airport’s management also banned the entry of Careem and Uber vehicles in the premises along with other online cab services.

Officials have shared that this action was taken because the cab services business is expanding and the taxable income as a result is also increasing. However, they are not paying their owed taxes to the government.

As a result, the government has decided to restrict these companies at the International Airports in Lahore and Karachi.
