Karachi: Qasim International Container Terminal (DP World- Karachi) have signed an agreement to integrate Terminal Off-Dock and Logistics services with HashMove (a global multi-modal logistics platform) to facilitate the rapid movement of exports through its platform.

This connectivity with HashMove B2B Digital Platform will allow registered enterprise customers of HashMove to access DPWorld off-dock facilities and provide a one-stop service for all the necessary export formalities. Currently, the platform enables exports through these off-dock terminal facilities to the CGG, United Kingdom, North America and Chinese region. This initiative alone will play a significant role in strengthening Pakistan’s economy by boosting its exports.

Shanghai Tower Ranks 2nd in 10 Tallest Buildings In the World!

After Dubai’s Burj Khalifa, Gensler’s Shanghai Tower has taken second place as the world’s largest skyscraper by information specialist Emporis in its annual skyscraper awards.

After six years of development, the Shanghai Tower finally reached completion earlier in January this year. Manufactured by Gensler, an international firm, who invested US$2.4 billion in this project, it exceeds at 632 m.

However, its most fascinating feature seems to its impeccable design that twists at 120 degrees from bottom to top which is supposed to mimic wind-like effects, molding the tower.

Consisting of 128 floors and spreading over a land of 420,000 sqm, it is located in the Lujiazui Financial Center in Shanghai. It features 106 high-tech Mitsubishi elevators which help in transporting passengers through its many levels at an astonishing speed of 40 mph.

As of now, the building holds many offices, retail spaces, a hotel, and includes an observation area of the breathtaking view of the city from the rooftop.

Due to the buildings curvy structure, it has been noted that the project was finished under the set budget with $58 million to spare.

With Pakistan feeling insulted after New Zealand and England both cancelled their tours to the country, T20 World Cup became all the more important. Fans were waiting, biting their nails, to see the performance of the Pakistani team. It seems all the nail-biting was not really required as Pakistan kept securing monumental wins.

Pakistan’s track record in the World Cup

The streak began with India which was probably the most important win. Given the match was with its archrival, the game became possibly as important as if it was the World Cup final. Incredible that the performance was, Pakistan chased the target without losing a single wicket.

The second instalment was with New Zealand and while the fans were scared, the Pakistani team emerged victorious there as well. With the cultural ties attached to Afghanistan, Twitter did not see too many memes but the fans could not hide the glee.

Pakistan Vs Namibia

The recent team Pakistan encountered was Namibia. Against them, our team won the toss and chose to bat. While playing carefully in the first ten overs, all the players chose to strike big in the next ten, taking the target up to 190 runs.

Namibia could not follow through and was able to score only 144 runs. In their own space, the team played well but were a no match against Pakistan.

With the win in the bag, Twitter was showering congrats from all over the world and onto the Pakistani team.

Here’s Why T20 World Cup Streaming Have Been Cancelled At Atrium Cinemas

The T20 World Cup has all the hype these days. Considering the cinemas that had suffered due to COVID, it seemed like the best opportunity to make good on all the financial loss suffered. This is why Atrium Cinemas had promised to live stream T20 World Cup matches. Whatever the business reasons may be, getting an opportunity to watch the match with fellow cricket fans would certainly have been interesting. But the dream was cut short.

They took to their social media platform announcing that they have cancelled the live streaming in all of their cinemas.

Atrium Cinemas claim that the persmission to stream the matches was acquired from Karachi Cantonment Board which is the licensing authority. They said that they followed the same procedure like they did during the 2011 World Cup as well as PSL 2019.

As an obvious consequence, people were disheveled and were curious to find out the reason behind the cancellation. Atrium Cinemas, it seems, has answered the query.

It turns out that the reason for canceling was due to a recovery notice which was sent in by Karachi Cantonment Board. The cinema authority expressed their surprise because they genuinely felt that the Board would be facilitating a suffering industry instead of creating obstacles.

“Karachi Cantonment Board is depriving in isolation the cinema industry while the matches are being shown everywhere especially after the performance of the Pakistan team in the T20 World Cup 2021,” Atrium representative said.

The feature is similar to the fall detection feature that was introduced in the iPhone. According to the details, the iPhone would register a fall, calling for emergency services because a person had fallen. This car crash works on the same principle, but it could truly save lives. 911 calls can be made late if there is a delay between the accident and someone calling. However, this would place a call the moment a crash is detected.

Xiaomi is one of the brands to emerge amidst the rush of technology. While they started as an underdog, they have established themselves as one of the best ones today.

Among all the products they have released, their smartphones have been some of the most successful ones out there. The company prides itself over how big a range they have in terms of price. You can find a flagship phone in your budget from Xiaomi, no matter what your preference. Now, they are going to start manufacturing devices in Pakistan as well!

The brand itself is already present in Pakistan. However, they don’t have a manufacturing plant in the country. This means that all the devices are imported from abroad and are sold after being approved by PTA. The company has set a goal for itself here. It seems they intend to produce 2.5-3 million Xiaomi smartphones in Pakistan, annually. Additionally, they have said that the production facility is going to be operational by January 2022. That is less than three months away!

When it came to generating revenue, the company has said that the manufacturing of smartphones will contribute quite a lot. To have an estimate, the company is expecting figures around $450 million annually! It is quite a goal that they have set for themselves. It not only ensures diligent work but guarantees a new brand in Pakistan. We should be proud to welcome another one here.

We hope that this development brings a lot of fruit for Pakistan. We have yet to see how the situation is going to fare but we are hoping for the best. Despite there being obstacles, the company is sure to persevere and rise high as a manufacturer in Pakistan. Its share in the global smartphone market has increased by 83% year-on-year in the quarter ending June.

We may have lost to India several times in cricket but we may never lose to them when it comes to sportsmanship. Pakistanis know how to handle defeat with grace and sophistication— the opposing team must be praised for their skills and we must commit to doing better. However, as soon as Pakistan won this time, Indians exploded into pitiful rage.

Harbajan Singh was one of the cricketers who could use a lesson in losing gracefully. He trashed Pakistan’s time and brought forth his insecurities, adding fuel to a distasteful fire. Moreover, Muslims in occupied Kashmir started being targeted and violence broke out again.

What was perhaps the worst was how a Muslim player in the Indian cricket team, Shami, was attacked.

After Pakistan’s win, Shami’s social media was infiltrated with thousands of hateful messages. People threw labels like “traitor” and “sell-out” on his profile and also called him a “Pakistani”. People refused to accept him as an Indian player who had committed to serving his country’s cricket team. Religion really does blind individuals, especially, it seems, the Indian population.

The cricket team captain, Kohli, eventually stepped up and supported his team member. He called out the haters in a powerful speech and set the record straight: Shami is an integral member of the Indian cricket team.

Virat Kohli Suffers The Consequences

However, Kohli too is now coming to face the brunt of being a sportsman. Supporting his team member whose only fault is that he is a Muslim, has put his own daughter at risk. The Indian cricket team’s captain Kohli has a 10-month-old daughter with esteemed actress Anushka Sharma. Their, barely a year-old, daughter is now getting rape threats. Let that sink in.

Kohli’s grace in accepting defeat and in supporting his team member has resulted in Indians turning their backs on him as well. It paints an incredibly bleak picture for the future and perhaps, even on the present for India. Religious fundamentalism is maniacal. The fact that the population at large can also turn against supposedly someone their own i.e. Indian, Hindu, means that their loyalty lies with no one.

MCB PayPak Debit Card customers will soon be able to shop online and make payments from anywhere in Pakistan, adding more value to their digital banking experience.

PayPak was launched by 1LINK in 2016 adding Pakistan to the list of countries in the world that have their own domestic payment schemes. Ever since its launch, PayPak has managed to impressively garner countrywide acceptance on ATMs and POS while simultaneously ensuring facilitation of e-commerce transactions.

At the agreement signing 1LINK CEO Najeeb Agrawalla stated: “The enablement of PayPak cards for e-commerce transactions has now become a necessity owing to the exponential rise in digital payments due to the pandemic.
