Consumers are Mixing These Two Tea Brands, Here’s Why!

tapal danedar

Have you ever gone to buy a product from a certain brand but came home to find that you got an item from a different one due to the similar name or packaging?

Recently a tea customer pointed out that they went to buy Tapal Danedar and ended up mistakenly buying Mezan Chai instead.

The reason was the similar packaging of both the brands which caused the confusion making them think it’s the same.

While it may be a win-win situation for Mezan Chai and probably a smart marketing strategy for the brand, as it gets them a chance to at least land in the shopping trolleys and gains attention, the consumers are not too impressed.

mezan chai

Some felt that it is a good strategy for Mezan to get a trial. If the blend is similar to Tapal, people won’t care much about the switch. If it’s cheaper and provides the same taste then at least now they are in your radar.

Others said Tapal could take legal action against Mezan for copying the key design elements.

While many also thought most tea brands come in more or less the similar packaging so it’s no big deal.

It is called “me too” in marketing. You might have purchased AA size battery cells thinking they are Toshiba but upon closer inspection, they read “Toyoshiba”.

It doesnt suit a well-reputable brand like Mezan to opt for such tactics.

Wrote a social media user.

‘Me Too’ marketing takes place when a company introduces a product which is just like its competitors with hardly any differentiating factors.

At times a ‘Me Too’ brand can give strong competition and take away the market share of the leading company.

What are your thoughts about the two tea brands? Does Mezan Tea have the potential to steal Tapal Danedar’s market?

Comment below and let us know what you think.

Pakistani Writer Achieves Journalism Award in India for Social Media Project ‘Everyday Pakistan’

Everyday Pakistan, a innovative social media project focused on bringing to light an unconventional image of Pakistan, has recently won an award in India for the Citizen Media and Journalism category at the Social Media for Empowerment 2019 awards, New Delhi..

The person behind this project is Anas Saleem, who paints and celebrates a beautiful, cultural and colorful picture of Pakistan with his lens. He aims to break the world’s general perception of Pakistan, which is mostly sad and unfortunate.

Anas is a free-lance writer from Faislabad. He kickstarted this project back in February 2018 and the project managed to build a place in the hearts of Pakistanis in a short span of time.

Here’s how Quartz India described the winning project:

”Inspired by Everyday Mumbai, an Instagram project that curates images of life in India’s financial capital, Saleem realized there was no similar account for the cities of Pakistan. So he created one on his own, launching Everyday Pakistan”

Co-organised by Facebook and New Delhi-based Digital Empowerment Foundation , the contest celebrates “platform that identifies, recognizes and honors initiatives that leverage the power of social media to bring about a change.”

Take a look at what Everyday Pakistan is all about:

The Tomb of Bibi Jawindi is one of the five monuments in Uch Sharif,Punjab, Pakistan that are on the tentative list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.Dating to the 15th century, the shrine was built in 1493 by an Iranian prince, Dilshad for Bibi Jawindi, who was the great-granddaughter of Jahaniyan Jahangasht, a famous Sufi saint. The site is located in the south-west corner of Uch, a historical city founded by Alexander the Great, in the Bahawalpr state and Punjab province of Pakistan. Over the centuries, the tomb has badly disintegrated due to environmental conditions, and during torrential floods in 1817 half of the structure washed away. The Pink Riders is a growing initiative to encourage and teach women how to ride motorcycles in Karachi, Pakistan. The idea is to give women the opportunity to have some autonomy in their daily commutes to promote economic independence. A majority of women rely on third party ride share services, such as Uber or Careem, or their male relatives to commute around the city. A female rider is often never the case. In fact, when a woman is on a motorcycle, she is almost always sitting ‘side saddle’ behind a male relative. The stigma surrounding female riders is in part due to a deep-rooted patriarchal culture partly influenced by European tradition. Sitting aside results from a misunderstanding of the concepts of virginity and modesty. The Pink Riders are actively working to dismantle these misconceptions. Riding aside on a horse can be traced back to 14th-century when it was thought it could preserve a woman’s virginity by keeping the hymen intact. This misconstrued idea spread, and riding astride became a taboo. Since then, the fear of the hymen tearing and the social consequences paired with it permeated colonial circles. It was deemed indecent for women to ride horses, bicycles, motorcycles, or do any physical activity that risked this perceived virginity. As such, this practice spread to South Asia with the expansion of the British Empire. In fact, Mughal portraits from before colonization show women riding horses astride, hunting, and even playing polo. Today, in Pakistan, women ride aside on the back of motorcycles, often with their children in hand. The Pink Riders are taking a progressive step to overcome restrictive and misinformed social structures. Founded by Payyam-e-Khurram, he and the Pink Riders meet every Sunday on a long stretch of open road to practice riding motorcycles. Fitted with helmets, elbow and knee pads, women from all over Karachi come to ride. They begin with simple balance skills on a bicycle and gradually progress on to learning the clutch and gears of a motorcycle to learning to ride in traffic. Since they were founded a year ago, the Pink Riders have successfully taught around 750 women how to ride. Photos @mustafahussainofficial

Misbah-ul-Haq Likely Mickey Arthur’s Replacement as Pakistan Cricket Team’s Coach

Misbah ul Haq

Misbah-ul-Haq is likely to be the new replacement for Pakistan Cricket Team’s former coach Mickey Arthur.

The Pakistan Cricket Board had decided not to renew the contract of the coach, likelihood suggests that Misbah-ul-Haq, the former Pakistani skipper would be the Interim coach of the national cricket team till PCB finds a suitable replacement.

One of the biggest reasons for not renewing the contract is thought to be Pakistan’s performance at World Cup 2019. Even though the team had performed well in the second half of the tournament, it was too late.

PCB has invited all applicants to apply for the position of coach, there are also other vacancies for the coaching staff. Misbah is likely to be the batting coach for the time being.

PSL 2020: Foreign Players to be Paid in Pakistani Rupee

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani said:

I am thankful to the PCB Cricket Committee for submitting their recommendations following an exhaustive and detailed review process. The committee comprised of individuals who possess tremendous acumen, experience, and knowledge.

The unanimous recommendation of the Committee was that it was time for new leadership and a fresh approach. I am happy to accept their strong recommendations.

On behalf of the PCB, I want to sincerely thank Mickey Arthur, Grant Flower, Grant Luden and Azhar Mahmood for their hard work and unwavering commitment during their tenures with the national men’s team. We wish them every success in their future endeavors.

The PCB remains committed to its fans and followers and we will do our utmost to ensure that we make decisions that continue to move Pakistan cricket forward in all formats.

We have now to see what the future holds for Misbah-ul-Haq and Pakistan Cricket Team.

Here’s How to Identify and Deal with a Young Victim of Abuse

The beautiful child who was not less than a talking parrot and free like a butterfly flying from one flower to another had a sudden change of personality. She was no more that vibrant, cheerful and lively. She was now frightened, guilty, and even began stammering in her speech.

The unusual change was observed by teachers and parents too, but nobody could understand the reason. Her mother thought it might be because she is growing up and entering teenage. The change was discussed among family and friends for a few days and then everyone got busy with their daily routines and nobody bothered to identify the problem or a solution.

“Is it really YOUR test paper?” cried a father angrily. Instead of looking at and observing the nervous hands and painful eyes of the young boy, the father hit him with a slap and scolded the mother for her negligence towards him.

The mother, on the other hand, had another story to tell. According to her the significant negative change in the diet, hobbies, and moods of the boy were actually a result of too much affection by dada & dadi (grandparents). The discussion was soon converted into a quarrel and, as always, reached no solution.

It was a party in a relative’s house and everyone was happily getting ready, but Amna was not agreeing to go to that house. She wasn’t able to back her refusal with a logical reason but she was continuously requesting her parents not to take her with them as she never liked the people there… especially uncle Saleem.

But the parents were not listening to what she was trying to tell them and, at last, she had to leave with them.

The scenes discussed above are very common and happen almost in every home.

Sometimes, parents forcefully tell the children to do as they are told, sometimes punishments are given, sometimes the matters are neglected and so on. But there is a crucial need to talk about that sudden shifting of moods, emotions, habits, and likeness in children as it can be a case of Child Abuse!

We feel shy to talk about such topics and we think that we are so responsible and caring towards our children that nobody would dare to do such a thing with our children. But we all need to come out of our little bubble and find out if our child is suffering or has become a victim.

Child abuse can be of different types.

1. Child’s maltreatment

It is negligence towards the needs and necessities of the child’s basic rights.

It can be unfair or unacceptable behavior commonly displayed by the caregiver, guardian, close relatives, a teacher or a guide, step-relations, or even by the parents of a child.

2. Sexual/physical abuse

Also known as child molestation, it is an immediate forceful and undesired touch or a gesture or behavior done with a child.

It includes an intentionally sexual touch especially by an elder or a powerful person on a weaker or younger person. It may also include acts like beating, kicking, slapping or harassing or any kind of unwanted contact, kissing, or penetration.

However, it is not limited to physical acts only. It can also include acts like expressing cheap gestures, exposing nudity, vulgar videos or audios and sharing nasty stuff.

It is most commonly done by an older person, an adult, an adolescent towards a child, an immature person, a vulnerable personality or a weak individual.

The person who does such things can be anyone and more often than not they are very close relatives like uncles, neighbors, family friends, mates, or trainers.

3. Emotional abuse

It is also known as psychological abuse. It can be a threatening attitude, frequent torture, non-stop use of cheap language, abuses, frightening and encouraging phobias or any mean act or behavior that can cause any psychological trauma or mental disorder, or anxiety or chronic depression, or traumatic stress or emotional grief to the victim.

Now the question that arises is, how should such situations be handled?

Here are some tips for parents and guardians which they must follow to avoid making their children a victim of any such thing.

  • Break the communication gap with your children.

Keep a time which is relaxing and work-free to have a friendly chat with your children about their schedule, friends, peers, work routine, surroundings, and encourage them to share more and speak bluntly.

Listen to them carefully and ask questions about what they like and what they don’t like. Share your experiences also to make the children comfortable to talk to you but keep your focus on listening.

The best time for this is during a drive, before sleeping, at the dining table, during evening tea, and so on.

  • Be comfortable to talk a little about child abuse with your children in a very soft manner.

Tell them about good touch and bad touch; good people and bad people; good gestures and bad gestures. Give them knowledge about their private parts and tell them why their privacy is important.

Talk with them about adultery issues and changes in our body brought with puberty.

  • Keep in mind that the era is so fast and there are countless sources through which your children will know about everything. So is it not better that they find put through you?
  • Keep a hawk’s eye on your child’s circle, friends, activities, searching sites, cell phone access and other such things. Allow them to use all advanced technology but set certain limits always.

We hope to see a better change in the society and expect every child flourishes with happiness and health.

Govt. of Pakistan’s Public Service Message on ‘Humanity’ is an Eye-Opener!

govt of pakistan humanity ad

Sometimes we come across certain commercials, posters, slogans or public service messages that leave a lasting impression by actually making us wonder.

Same is the case with this latest public service message from the Ministry of Information, Government of Pakistan, that focuses mainly on humanity.

As Pakistan advances towards its 73rd Independence Day, it is important for everyone in the country to feel equally involved in the celebration. Minorities must believe that they are equally connected and celebrated, and all sorts of violence and discrimination must end.

Pakistan is a diverse land where people from several ethnic groups and communities live together. Be it Muslim, Hindu, Sikhs, Christians, Ahmadi’s or others, each community shares some contribution in the development of Pakistan.

No Admission Tests for Nursery Class – Shahzad Roy

Be it, men, women or children, we’re all equally important and equally Pakistani.

You are free; you are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion, caste or creed—that has nothing to do with the business of the state. -Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah

However, the fact is that the country has now strayed far from the plans of the founding father and minorities in Pakistan do not feel safe.

The video begins with a mother who lost her son to a suicide attack on the occasion of Easter. The reason being that the murderer only saw a non-muslim in him, not a child.

It moves on to show a bearded man who only gets treated like a terrorist because of his physical appearance, a woman who gets labelled characterless for earning her bread and butter, a transgender who gets shunned for the gender identity, a Shia who gets treated like a non-muslim for having different religious practices and so on…

The video stresses on the fact that we’re all humans and share the same basic rights. It’s wrong to judge people based on religion, sect, gender, appearance, profession and other things.

Biased and judgemental thinking needs to change if we want to progress as a nation.

Social Media has been admiring the campaign and hoping more people practice this open-minded approach and place humanity above everything else.

Ethnomusicologist, Musician and Co-Founder of Pakistan’s Leading Comprehensive Music Symposium, Lahore Music Meet, Natasha Noorani is set to represent Pakistan in Germany this August as the only musician from the country for the fifth annual Goethe Talents Programme 2019.

Indeed, Natasha Noorani will be one of 10 musicians from across the world to participate in the 10-day Goethe Talents Scholarship, scheduled to take place from 14th to the 24th of August in Berlin.

The Goethe Talents Programme 2019 aims to support and connect young, aspiring musical artists including singer-songwriters, composers and DJs. Cooperation between the Goethe-Institut and »Pop-Kultur«, the scholarship will offer a variety of activities to experience the “music city” Berlin before the actual Festival: Studio visits, jam-sessions, short traineeships in selected companies from Berlin’s creative industries, listening sessions and meetings with scholarship holders of the Musicboard Berlin GmbH.

Indeed, the scholarship is directed at musicians between 20 and 30 years of age who have already gained some experience in the field of music and have a solid grasp of the English language.

Natasha Noorani, selected via the worldwide network of Goethe-Institut, is a Lahore based singer-songwriter, playback singer, festival director, and music promoter. As a musician, her music lies somewhere between the realms of contemporary R&B, neo-soul and progressive rock which can be heard in her debut EP ‘Munaasib’ (2018). Jazz Sees Intensified Revenue Growth of 20.5%

Jazz, Pakistan’s leading digital communications company, has announced its financial results for the second quarter of 2019. The company has recorded unprecedented total revenue growth of 20.5% year on year.

In addition to an aggressive digital growth focus from the leadership, several factors have contributed to this solid growth. Jazz’s service revenue increase has been predominately driven by the rise in the number of data customers in this quarter.

More and more people are choosing Jazz to connect and every third Pakistani is a Jazz customer. The doubled data usage has generated a 58.8% data revenue growth. Additionally, the subscriber base of JazzCash 30-day active wallet has increased to 5.7 million.

This has led to a surge in the financial services revenue by 36%. Overall, this represents a sequential increase of 7.7% from the first quarter of 2019 and totals a revenue of PKR 1.9 billion. This comes at a time when global shifts and macroeconomic policies have largely challenged the private sector.

The quarterly financial report also showed that the customer base has increased by 7.2% year on year. The quarter on quarter customer trend reflects Jazz’s commercial strategy to focus on high-value customers to further improve new sales customer mix, leveraging on network quality of service. At the end of quarter two of 2019, Jazz’s data services are available to more than 50% of the country’s population with data coverage in more than 225 cities.

This half-year performance is particularly impressive for VEON Ltd., Jazz’s parent company. Owing to the rising population in Pakistan, the demand for top-quality cellular services is an important aspect of urban lifestyle. Economic experts term phone connectivity and data particularly as an essential enabler and not a luxury.

These results come at a significant milestone in the company’s 25th anniversary. This serves as a testament to the Jazz’s market leadership and robust technical advantage. With its service focus on remote and under-served communities, Jazz has prioritized the goal to empower all Pakistanis, while also maintaining an impressive performance on the business front.

Coke’s ‘#LoveIsLove’ Campaign Faces Backlash from Hungarian Prime Minister for Supporting LGBTQ

coca cola lgbtq

Coke is one of the brands that are popular for coming up with new and innovative campaigns and stellar communication ideas.

Coke Hungary recently rolled out their #LoveisLove campaign which supports LQBTQ, and is now facing backlash for touching on a subject that conservative governments in the east of the European Union are not quite fond of.

The images in the campaign feature same-sex couples with the hashtag #loveislove, timed for Budapest’s popular Sziget Festival, a week-long music event that carries the theme of “Love Revolution” this year.

The tagline of the campaign is: Zero Sugar, Zero Prejudice

Same-sex marriages are legal in Hungary, so one would assume this campaign should have raised no eyebrows.

However, that is not the case. Viktor Orban, Hungarian Prime Minister, is not happy with it.

Moreover, Parliament leader István Boldog has said that he will boycott the brand if the campaign is not taken down.

They have started a petition against it. Here is what the petition reads:

“If Hungarian society accepts this, there will be more and more steps. Posters, commercials, films, rainbow products, etc. And as we continue to slide down the slope, it will become increasingly difficult to stop.”

Coke, however, refuses to budge or take down the campaign.

No Admission Tests for Nursery Class – Shahzad Roy

It is very rare that we see influential personalities openly taking a stand for improving the education scenario in Pakistan.

Shahzad Roy, popular Pakistani singer and Founder of Zindagi Trust, is one of the few celebrities who have been making endless and prominent efforts to make Pakistan’s educational infrastructure better and more beneficial to children.

His aim is to make schools affordable and safe for children.

Recently, Shahzad took to Twitter to announce a very important development that he is expecting to bring out in Pakistan’s education sector:

It is true, taking admission tests in school can be quite a traumatic experience for children so young of age. Not only is it stressful and frustrating due to the pass/fail and rejection fear, but it also places undue pressure on the child.

Many people are supporting what Shahzad has said and look forward to the positive change.

People are also sharing their own experiences where their little ones have been rejected admission by schools.

However, this has given rise to a very important question:

If there will be no admission tests, how exactly will schools gauge children? It is not possible for schools to take in each and every child that applies for admission.

Well, let us wait and see what Shahzad has to say about this.

Have something to add to the story?

Samsung Defeats Apple & Huawei in 4G Speed Test

samsung

There is a reason why Samsung is still no.1 around the world, be it in sales, market shares, and now even in 4G tests!

In the most recent OpenSignal, Samsung offered higher 4G LTE download speed as compared to its rival Apple and competitor Huawei.

This study was conducted in 40 countries using over 23 million devices. It was found that Samsung was offering faster speed in 35% of the countries whereas Apple was only offering fast speed in 17.5% countries.

In the US, Samsung smartphones had 8.4 MBps faster download speed as compared to the iPhone. In Norway, Samsung was once again faster, this time it had a lead of 12 MBps over Apple and 14MBps over Huawei.

On the other hand, the iPhone dominated in speed in the UAE and Taiwan with 14 MBPS and 8 MBPS ahead of Samsung and Huawei respectively. However, with 5G on the verge of being introduced, these results can immediately change at any time.

Mawra Hocane Breaks Silence on Recent Food Comment Controversy in a Cryptic Tweet

Nida Yasir remains in the news on and off for the kind of topics she discusses on her morning shows and her comments on the same.

However, this time, two of her guests have stirred up a storm on social media: The Hocane Sisters.

Prime Minister Starts Petition Against Coke’s Latest Campaign that Supports LGBTQ

On August 5th, 2019, Nida invited the Hocane sisters to her morning show. It seemed that their main focus as guests was to advertise their garment collection, however, what has stolen the audience’s attention was the sisters’ comments on mental health.

While discussing diet and healthy eating, Urwa mentioned how the wrong kind of food is the sole reason for any kind of mental illnesses.

Watch the video here:

https://youtu.be/wEcfY5M8A5M?t=2946

Look at what people have been saying about it since then.

Many are calling the Hocane Sisters’ Comments the height of ignorance.

Many are saying one shouldn’t speak publicly about something unless they have ample knowledge on the subject.

And many are blatantly calling it plain stupid.

Some have even titled the sisters as the Dumbest Stars of Pakistan.

Many are urging the stars to accept their mistake and apologize.

However, it does not look like they regret what they said at all as, only a few hours ago today, Urwa retweeted a Paulo Coelho quote with her own comment.

The quote implies that there is no need for offering explanations to people as people will only hear what they want to hear.

The rage against them continues to rise, let us see if they continue to hold the same stance or not.

Facebook Sues Developers Over Click Fraud!

One of the leading tech companies and social media platforms, Facebook has sued developers over click fraud!

The two Android developers were using infectious malware to infect their user’s device that faked clicks on ads.

The developers that were caught doing this illegal act are Hong-Kong based JediMobi and Singapore-based LionMobi.

Both developers were a part of Facebook’s Audience Network program. The program helps advertisers host ads on participating mobile applications and the developers of the apps receive a payout in return.

In this case, Facebook has claimed that both JediMobi and LionMobi had not used human clicks to generate as clicks on the adverts in their apps. The infected applications were basic, everyday use apps such as virus scanner, battery saver, even storage cleaner.

Some users also had suspected the foul play long before it caught Facebook’s attention. The Google Play Store is filled with negative reviews from users who have warned others. One user writes:

Malware. Will show you ads page on your desktop even leaving the app.

Another writes that their negative reviews for the application have been filtered out. Whereas several others have complained about unauthorized access to the data on their phones.

What’s even worse is that LionMobi apps were not only generating fake clicks but also slowing down a user’s device as well.

Worst app. It always slows down my phone and shows adult ads.

As a result, Facebook has sued both developers and has banned them from the Audience Network platform. Facebook clearly wants an example to be made from the scenario so that others do not get the same idea.

The social media giant called the lawsuit “the first of its kind against this practice.”
