Pakistani Women Are Sharing What They Look For In A Guy

Guy

Coronavirus has wreaked havoc in our lives! We are in the middle of a pandemic and locked at home! The use of social media has increased significantly. People have been discussing all kinds of things on the internet. One such discussion was among Pakistani women, where they shared as to what personality traits they are looking for in a guy.

A twitter user from Lahore, Essa Hassan tweeted, “What do you ladies look for in a guy anyway? Other than looks”. Much to our surprise, the tweet caught the attention, and hundreds of women poured in responses.

We are glad to see that people have finally moved on from looks and are interested in traits that matter the most!

Is Nice voice important? We don’t think so! It is a plus point for sure

Maybe, but not all guys are decent and sophisticated

Some guys just need to go shoe shopping. We agree 100%

That is so true. As you grow older, the significance of looks merely dies

Respect is as essential as ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT, ENTERTAINMENT

While some interests can differ, music taste must be the same

It is true! You can tell how ambitious one is regarding their goals in life by the way they speak to others

Thank God, it is not dead

Having a personality of his own is so important

We can’t stress enough as to how vital hygiene is! It seriously is not cool to wear used socks

Polite guys are the best

Toxic masculinity is unbearable

Nobody likes fake people!

Much to our surprise, nobody said ‘Money.’ Material things might not be essential but they are a necessity. It is a difficult decision to choose the ‘one.’ Remember, you can’t get all personality traits as you require, so make choices as such that you are ready to give up certain things.

Have something to add? Let us know in the comment section below what personality traits you would like in a guy.

8 Pakistani Celebrities Who Rejected Bollywood Offers

Seemingly, Pakistani celebrities have cast a magical spell on Bollywood. Despite the cold war that erupts every now and then between Pakistan and India, our stars have truly outshined themselves and have effortlessly floored the audience of the neighboring nation.

While some of them sincerely made us proud, the rest got shamed due to dire controversies across the border. But amongst them are some famous luminaries who fancied the entertainment projects emerging in their own homeland. When Bollywood came calling on their doorstep with a whiff of an offer wrapped in gold, these celebrities said an outright NO to movies in India!

Check out the list of some of the leading stars from Pakistan who turned down Bollywood movies.

1. Shaan Shahid

shaan pakistani high paid actor

Topping the list is Pakistan’s prominent patriotic actor, the veteran Shaan Shahid. A staunch believer of the talent that thrives in his nation, the star does not shy away from condemning other celebrities who chose B-town over their own entertainment industry.

Shaan’s famous Bollywood refusal remains Amir Khan’s movie Ghajini in which he was asked to play a villainous avatar.

Last year, the actor revealed in an interview with The National, “I refused India once. When I read the role, I knew that they needed a new terrorist face and I said no. In Pakistan, I live in people’s hearts. That’s a huge responsibility. I cannot let them down.”

2. Hamza Ali Abbasi

Hamza Ali Abbasi

The popular social media naysayer, Hamza Ali Abbasi is bound to be a prominent member of the “No Bollywood” team. When Meekal Zulfiqaar debuted in Bollywood with Akshay Kumar’s Baby, our Pyaray Afzal took to Facebook to expose that he was initially offered the role in the movie but turned it down as it had anti-Pakistani content.

3. Faisal Quraishi

The evergreen favorite of Pakistan’s television industry, the versatile artist Faisal Quraishi has too been driving the “Anti-Bollywood” bandwagon for quite some time. Being the perfectionist he is, Faisal too has turned down a few movies offers from Bollywood.

In an exclusive interview to Brandsynario earlier this year, the humble hero divulged, “I’ve had 2-3 offers, but the scripts weren’t to my liking. I don’t want to disappoint my fans by doing that doesn’t live up to their expectation.”

In an interview to The News back in July 2015, Saeed openly clarified, “I’m in no mood to work in Bollywood right now. I have no issues working in Bollywood, but it has to be a really strong project to sway me. Otherwise, I’m feeling no urge to go now.”

When Bollywood knocked on Jung’s door, the Jago Pakistan Jago hostess straight out refused the offer.

“When I said I would not do bold scenes, they replied they could ‘cheat’, but even if they cheat a scene, the audience will think I have done it. So Bollywood is out of the question”, said Sanam Jung in an interview to Aurora magazine.

Few people might know this but the bubbly heroine from “Kash Mai Teri Beti Na Hoti”, was offered a bold avatar by Bollywood director Anees Bazmee.

While Bazmee has been the mastermind behind comedy films like Singh is King, Ready and No Entry, Effendi did not even think twice turning down the Indian icon.

“Anees Bazmee called me and praised my drama serial and asked me to work in his film. I asked him about the story and the character I’d portray but refused to sign the movie because it required me to play a bold character,” the starlet commented to Roznama Express.

Hyundai Elantra Vs Proton Saga – A Friendly Comparison

Competition lies in every domain. It doesn’t matter which niche it is, progressing ones alongside competition. If there isn’t anyone to challenge your skill, you may not be motivated to polish and improve. Just like that, we have a comparison today between two automobiles. This is between the Proton Saga and Hyundai Elantra.

While we know of both companies, it is true that one is older than the other. It seems that both of them have come up with impress SUVs. Where the Proton X70 is rising fast in the market, the Hyundai Tucson is dominating too. They have impressive capabilities and immense features, leaving barely any room for compromise. However, today, we are looking at their sedan releases so let us dive into the details of those.

Automobile Comparison in two brands
Hyundai elantra and it's Comparison

Hyundai Elantra:

Hyundai Elantra seems like quite an impressive car, with comfortable seatings. It has a 5 person seating capacity with a trunk capacity of 407 litres. Additionally, the fuel tank on it can hold 50 litres. This is more than enough to go long distances on a single go, considering the average on the car is decent. The two engine variants you can expect to get here is either the 2.0 litre one or the 1.6 litre one.

It has a 6 speed automatic transmission, with modes like sports and eco. Additionally, the electric power steering makes driving a whole lot easier on the driver. However, it must be noted that the vehicle does not have an electronic hand brake. Rather, it employs old-school lever one. The current price of Hyundai Elantra is set at Rs.40 Lac. That seems like quite a hefty price tag.

Hyundai and Proton comparison

Proton Saga:

Now this is one of the fastest growing brands and they have released a sedan. If we talk about transmission, the Proton Saga has quite a lot of variants. These include automatic and manual both. All variants have a set capacity of 1.3 Litres, but the difference is in extra features. The automatic 1.3L Ace differs from the auto 1.3L standard. The manual variants have a 5 speed transmission whereas the automatic ones are a 4 speed CVT one. Here, it also boils down to preference as to which one the driver buys. Some people love automatic, while others prefer shifting.

It has a remote operated trunk alongside a fuel tank that holds 40 litre. The vehicle has a 5 person seating capacity, which means that it’s a vehicle fit for a family. It also has the signature Proton ‘infinite weave grill’, giving it a unique feel. This makes it stand quite apart from the counterparts of other brands. The price of Proton Saga is currently between Rs.20-24 Lac. This seems like quite a reasonable range and one that sticks well to a decent budget.

A Verdict:

While it is quite apparent that the Proton Saga is a good buy for its price, it also boils down to preference. There may be features of Elantra that people want to go for, rather than the Proton Saga. However, it can be seen that both of them are locked hand-in-hand, waiting to emerge victorious.

This Scene From A Pakistani Drama Is Making People Furious

pakistani drama

Twitter exploded today with a clip from a Pakistani drama called Oye Motti. So apparently, this is a show which has a new story in every episode. Numerous actors have appeared in it to date including Hajra Yamin. The idea behind the name is to address body shaming and the concept that exists in our society where anyone over a certain weight, we classify as fat or rather ‘motti’.

The clip that got viral was a teaser of episode nine of the show. Furqan Qureshi was a part of it and he was seeing challenging his fiance on their engagement saying he will break the engagement if, within a year, she doesn’t lose almost a hundred kg. That, in itself, is humiliating to the core.

Have a look and decide what you think about this:

Twitter was full of reactions to the clip.

But we did not want to make any assumptions because this could have been taken out of context or it could totally have been the drama putting a light on body shaming.

So we decided to watch the show and see for ourselves what was going on!

We found that the episode was already out so we proceeded to watch it. This episode at least was very problematic.

In the episode, as the clip had shown, the fiance made the girl fall in love with him, and then, during the engagement, he announced the challenge.

Truly heartbroken, the girl took on the challenge and with extreme diet and exercise, within a couple of months only, reduced more than 20 kg. At this time, she did meet her fiance who had the most non-respectful behavior towards her. But she did not mind that.

For the next few months, the harmful routine continued, and then one day, she fainted in her office. It is then the fiance revealed even more problematic details. So apparently, he had seen a girl in the hospital a year ago who was there for her checkup. He overhears that she has some medical problems.

When they leave, he enters the doctor’s office and enquires about the girl. And there, the doctor readily reveals personal information about the patient. I mean, what the hell???

And it is then he decides that he loves her so he will belittle her to encourage her weight loss plan.

The lesson out of this Pakistani drama is definitely not a good one!

I mean it is understandable that the goal was a good one and that the increasing weight of the girl was actually becoming harmful to her. But are we really going to trample on someone’s self-esteem, extract personal information from her doctor, and encourage the wrong way of weight loss?

And yes, the weight loss journey should be a healthy one. If someone is losing weight at this speed, the doctor at least should not be encouraging it. And if it’s important to lose weight, lose it healthily which she was not doing. Had she been losing weight in a healthy way, she would have never fainted.

Deep-Fried Water – New Bizarre Trend Goes Viral

Deep-Fried Water Bubble- New Bizarre Trend Goes Viral

Viral food trends on TikTok do not seem to stop, and the latest one could be the most bizarre one we have seen to date. The deep-fried water bubble trend is another latest hit on TikTok.

Converting water to an edible state with the help of gelatin. The gelatin will hold the water, fried with a batter made of egg, flour, and bread crumbs.

How Does The Water Bubble Forms?

Sodium Alginate is a salt that is dissolved in water. Now the calcium ions are dissolved in water to create a solution of calcium chloride. The two solutions will bond with each other by replacing the sodium and bonding with alginate. As a result, a water bubble is formed, which contains the water inside a thin membrane.

Deep frying the water bubbles can be very dangerous as water reacted with oil can result in an accident. Moreover, the taste of the fried water bubble is not even worthy enough to take a risk. The taste of the bubble, which forms calcium and alginate, is very salty and slimy.

Water Bubbles to Eliminate Plastic Bottles

The idea behind the bubbled water was originally introduced by the company Skipping rocking labs back in 2015 to minimize the plastic used for water bottles. However, the water bubble packaging name OOHo did not seek the light of the day. First, the bubbles are tiny and can not contain enough water. Secondly, the handling and transportation of delicate water bubbles would be difficult.

“The aim of Ooho! is to provide the convenience of plastic bottles while limiting the environmental impact,” the founders explained.

Azeem Khan Vs Yasir Hussain: Another Controversy In The Making

Yasir Hussain

When two controversial figures get together, what do we call it? Azeem Khan Vs Yasir Hussain, the start of yet another controversy.

Whenever you hear Yasir Hussain’s name come up, you just know that there will be an industry controversy that could involve Hania Amir or Nausheen Shah, or even Esra Bilgic. But while we take Yasir’s controversies as fun, when people from outside the industry try to stay relevant, we don’t like it.

Azeem Khan starts the controversy

So, Azeem Khan who probably is dating Saba Qamar, or not, decided to attack Yasir Hussain.

The captions read:

“Daari mouch rakhne se waqqi koi mard nahi banta, per yakeen manein, har guzartiwi cheez mai ungli karna bhi mardana adat nahi hai.
– Kabhi bahar Wale Ertugul mai maslay, Kabhi Bahar walon kai Pakistan mai ake kaam se maslay🙆
– Mardon ki sab se achi fitrat me ek fitrat yeah hai kai woh phopo wali harkatain nahi karte.
On a lighter note, I respect the people who supported without discrimination. However, a handful probably should enroll themselves in ethical classes to learn a thing or two on how to behave in society or we might have to send them back to school to learn basic “ETHICS”.
PEACE, mulk ka aasasa hain app, social media per shugal mela laga kar rakhein”

He ends with, “naam mat lena kisi ka, i’m talking “generally.” And while with this statement he tried to act all innocent, the way he has phrased his argument is very indicative of who he is talking about.

Post by Yasir Hussain

And considering Yasir Hussain’s post talks about ‘real men’, it is definitely a response to Yasir. Have a look at what he says:

“Apni maon behno betiyon aur BV ko rokny waly insecure hoty hain , mard nahi.”

But doesn’t this look like a cheap attempt at staying in the news? And doesn’t this look like a very meninist post; something we have been talking about sometime? So Saba, if you are still secretly dating him, you should definitely take a look at Azeem’s recent post.

She recently sat down with Asia Forum for one of the most exciting show. The show was going to be focused on all kinds of her ‘firsts’. In doing so, her fans have been struck by the revelation of Hira Mani’s first job and first salary. You’ll be pleasantly surprised and hopefully inspired by how far the star has come.

First Job

As her first job, Hira Mani worked at a parlour called ‘Aisha Beauty Salon’. Over there she used to work part-time, especially on chaand raats where she would put henna on customers. Didn’t we all actually grow up wanting this job though?

This job used to give Hira Mani Rs.1500-2000 which she says, she would spend on the spot. Since it would be chaand raat where stalls and stalls of accessories block the roads, she would have no difficulty. She claimed she would spend her salary immediately on bangles!

Hira Mani as a Banker

If you’d believe it, after working as a henna artist, she worked as a banker too! As a banker Hira Mani earned approximately Rs.12000 per month although her exact occupation was not revealed. Who knew a celebrated actress could be a henna artist and a banker too!

The best part about Hira Mani sharing this with the public was how she owned it. Many would scoff at her being a henna artist at the start, however, nothing deters this woman. She said, “yes, and I’m proud of it”.

Humble Beginnings

Nowadays, a toxic narrative has been created that right after graduation if one doesn’t land a job with a 6 figure salary, one has failed. As youth unemployment soars and brain drain sky-rockets in Pakistan, it is important for us to create a healthy discourse on beginnings!

Every success story usually starts with humble beginnings and Hira Mani’s career is an example of that. Had she been depressed since the days she worked at the salon, that “I’m not a successful actress” there is a high chance she would not be here today.

In short, setting realistic goals, being determined, humble and proud of your choices is the key!

Nestlé for Healthier Kids Announces Winners of the Drawing Contest Campaign on World Health Day!

Nestlé

Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program organized an exciting fun learning drawing contest for children between the age group of 10-14 years, to engage their creative capacities. The winners were announced on the World Health Day.

Families all over the country have started this term with the strain of school closure which continues to put the challenge of home-schooling on parents. During these challenging times, Nestlé for Healthier Kids launched drawing contest to provide children with an opportunity to focus on drawing while busy parents are juggling work, house chores, and childcare commitments.

This campaign has the following drawing themes: ‘I’m active, I exercise’; ‘I eat healthy’; and ‘I love water’. The thematic areas were selected after careful consideration since, one of the key purposes of this activity was to educate the children about healthy habits and give them an opportunity to become more aware of active lifestyle through drawing pictures under any one of the three drawing themes given.

This activity nurtured a healthy competition amongst children and during this entire activity they understood the importance of hydration, active lifestyle and role of healthy eating and how it contributes towards a healthier immune system hence, fortifies ones’ protections against any virus. This self-awareness helped children in becoming more conscious and careful about their health to make better nutrition decisions from an early age for a healthier future. The children participating submitted their artwork entries to the N4HK Panel of Judges via email. More than 1000 entries rolled in from across Pakistan as large number of children entered the contest by sending their creative and inspiring artworks.

One of the key successes of this initiative was that the school going kids who were confined in their homes spent their time in a productive and informed way. They were given a platform to communicate their imagination and showcase their creativity. This is the first time the Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program encouraged children to participate in an online drawing contest. The contest engaged their creative minds and gave participants a chance to prove and improve their skills while encouraging them to express their imagination and present self-expression through original pieces of artwork.

After a long, tough process and sifting through the unique, creative and stellar submissions of participants, the judges finally picked two winners from each theme. The artworks reflected strong creative expression by children on the given themes.

The competition was geared towards age group 10 to 14 years. Two winners were selected from each category. The top submissions in all three categories are published on Nestlé Pakistan’s website. First 100 entries will receive certificate of participation from the Nestlé for Healthier Kids team. Such recognition will pay off the efforts of the winners and motivate other children to work on their drawing skills, express themselves freely as well as educate themselves on pertinent issues.

Education is a powerful tool for ensuring that children understand the value of nutrition and physical activity and continue leading healthy lives as they grow older. The program is exemplary for other organizations to follow as it reflects the collective action in collaboration with other educational partners. In Pakistan, the program has reached out to about 250,000 children and 1,300 teachers and aims to reach out to more than 300,000 children in Pakistan by 2022.

Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program is part of Nestle’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of Good Health and Well-Being. The SDGs set a new course for nutrition and human development. As highlighted by experts, nutrition is both maker and a marker of development. Improved nutrition can be used as the platform for progressing in terms of health, education, employment, empowerment of women and the reduction of poverty and inequality.

Initiatives such as Nestlé for Healthier Kids help ensure multisectoral collaboration to improve the nutritional indicators of the country. Since nutrition is a multi-stakeholder approach, it is a collective responsibility and requires a joint effort from all the stakeholders, if not equally, at least substantially.

The program is continuously strengthening its efforts through various activities aimed at increasing nutritional knowledge and adopting healthier lifestyle habits.

N4HK is indicative of what we all need to do in an era of interdependence: share responsibility and take collective action. It may sound difficult, but it starts from home. Eat healthy, promote a healthy lifestyle and most of all, be kind to one another.

Karachi’s Best Organisations Recognised For Their Relentless Commitment At KE’s KHI Awards

Karachi: Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi has existed as a land of opportunities for more than a century. From a small fishing town, Karachi has become the country’s economic base, acting as an incubator for people and organisations which work for the benefit of the city. It is a land of opportunity thanks in no small part due to the efforts of countless welfare and community support organizations and NGOs whose work has or will positively impacted Karachi.

In recognition of their efforts, K-Electric (KE), Pakistan’s largest private electric supply company, recently hosted the “KHI Awards”.

Awarded for their innovative skill sets and their aim to execute their projects with excellence, 34 organisations were awarded in the form of electricity bill rebates, valued from PKR 250,000 to 5 Million, for their contribution, often made in the face of insurmountable odds.

The event was held with all COVID-19 SOPs and in a video message for the winners and hosts, Governor of Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail said: “The participants and winners of these awards are an integral part of the state, as they support the government in its efforts to help the people of the city across a number of different fields including education, public health, and sustainability.” He further added; “I appreciate KE’s step to recognize the efforts of these NGOs and I am sure that it will be a catalyst towards bigger plans. The process was conducted with utmost transparency and impartiality, and all organizations were evaluated on their performance alone.”

Speaking about the inaugural edition and KE’s association with the city, KE CEO Mr. Moonis Alvi said: ” KE’s relationship with Karachi extends over 107 years, and our work is embedded into the very fabric of this great city. It is heartening that so many competent and passionate organizations are working at the forefront to uplift the city.” These awards are KE’s humble effort to acknowledge their dedication and we are proud to extend our support for their ongoing efforts. KE is also grateful to the jury members who volunteered their time and expertise, as well as our audit partners, who ensured credibility and transparency in the evaluation process.”

Each of the winners were selected following a detailed review process which shortlisted 73 organization from around 140 entries that had been received. Each nominee was largely judged on the efficacy of their project and the way it was executed during the agreed time and within the allocated budgets. This process also included selecting organisations that demonstrated the adoption of best practices with regards to urban innovation and the use of technology and mobile solutions.

Speaking about the entire selection process, the Jury Chair,  Mr. Saad Amanullah Khan, who is also founder of #IAMKARACHI, appreciated the entire exercise: “We had an overwhelming number of entries to choose from for our first edition. The winners have been instrumental in making a tremendous impact on the city, and their total asset base stands at over PKR 54 billion, which is the welfare investment these organizations are making to drive progress in Pakistan and it’s largest metropolitan city. KE’s decision to honor these organizations and empower them on their journey is commendable.”

The nomination processes were audited by EY Ford Rhodes Chartered Accountants, a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited, who served as the Official Award Auditors and monitored the end to end process of shortlisting and jury processes against the defined parameters developed by KE.

Yasir Hussain Is All Praises For His Wife Iqra Aziz & Mother-in-law

Iqra Aziz

Iqra Aziz is a talented actress who has won the audience’s heart as the spontaneous Jia at times and at times as the headstrong Noori. Whichever character she dons, you would just know that she would do justice to it. And seeing a recent post by Yasir Hussain, its clear where she gets her sense of hard work.

Yasir Hussain and his Insta Post

Iqra’s husband, Yasir took to Instagram a picture of Iqra with her mother Asiya Aziz. Both of them are seated in a car. A picture that would look like a random casual moment becomes so much more because of its caption.

The caption reads:

”My beautiful wife @iiqraaziz with her proud mother Asiya Aziz (First female careem driver) sitting in her daughter’s new car MASHAALLAH…”

Why is the post so powerful?

This caption makes the moment so much powerful because we come from a society where even now if a woman is driving we form negative opinions about her. And a job as a driver for a woman is never endorsed. In that society, Iqra’s mom, a very strong woman herself, defied stereotypes and became the first female careem driver.

Not to mention, owning a vehicle in current times is so hard because of the rates. So if you buy a car it shows that you have put in tons of effort in your work to finally be able to own a car.

So the first female careem driver who must have faced taunts on the street and negative reactions, persevered all that and was finally able to sit in a car that her daughter bought, is a double achievement.

Yasir Hussain goes to lengths praising the wife and the mother-in-law for their power. And he also left a message for his followers. He said that real men do not believe in imposing restrictions on the women in their family.
