Nestlé for Healthier Kids Announces Winners of the Drawing Contest Campaign on World Health Day!

Nestlé

Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program organized an exciting fun learning drawing contest for children between the age group of 10-14 years, to engage their creative capacities. The winners were announced on the World Health Day.

Families all over the country have started this term with the strain of school closure which continues to put the challenge of home-schooling on parents. During these challenging times, Nestlé for Healthier Kids launched drawing contest to provide children with an opportunity to focus on drawing while busy parents are juggling work, house chores, and childcare commitments.

This campaign has the following drawing themes: ‘I’m active, I exercise’; ‘I eat healthy’; and ‘I love water’. The thematic areas were selected after careful consideration since, one of the key purposes of this activity was to educate the children about healthy habits and give them an opportunity to become more aware of active lifestyle through drawing pictures under any one of the three drawing themes given.

This activity nurtured a healthy competition amongst children and during this entire activity they understood the importance of hydration, active lifestyle and role of healthy eating and how it contributes towards a healthier immune system hence, fortifies ones’ protections against any virus. This self-awareness helped children in becoming more conscious and careful about their health to make better nutrition decisions from an early age for a healthier future. The children participating submitted their artwork entries to the N4HK Panel of Judges via email. More than 1000 entries rolled in from across Pakistan as large number of children entered the contest by sending their creative and inspiring artworks.

One of the key successes of this initiative was that the school going kids who were confined in their homes spent their time in a productive and informed way. They were given a platform to communicate their imagination and showcase their creativity. This is the first time the Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program encouraged children to participate in an online drawing contest. The contest engaged their creative minds and gave participants a chance to prove and improve their skills while encouraging them to express their imagination and present self-expression through original pieces of artwork.

After a long, tough process and sifting through the unique, creative and stellar submissions of participants, the judges finally picked two winners from each theme. The artworks reflected strong creative expression by children on the given themes.

The competition was geared towards age group 10 to 14 years. Two winners were selected from each category. The top submissions in all three categories are published on Nestlé Pakistan’s website. First 100 entries will receive certificate of participation from the Nestlé for Healthier Kids team. Such recognition will pay off the efforts of the winners and motivate other children to work on their drawing skills, express themselves freely as well as educate themselves on pertinent issues.

Education is a powerful tool for ensuring that children understand the value of nutrition and physical activity and continue leading healthy lives as they grow older. The program is exemplary for other organizations to follow as it reflects the collective action in collaboration with other educational partners. In Pakistan, the program has reached out to about 250,000 children and 1,300 teachers and aims to reach out to more than 300,000 children in Pakistan by 2022.

Nestlé for Healthier Kids Program is part of Nestle’s commitment to UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3 of Good Health and Well-Being. The SDGs set a new course for nutrition and human development. As highlighted by experts, nutrition is both maker and a marker of development. Improved nutrition can be used as the platform for progressing in terms of health, education, employment, empowerment of women and the reduction of poverty and inequality.

Initiatives such as Nestlé for Healthier Kids help ensure multisectoral collaboration to improve the nutritional indicators of the country. Since nutrition is a multi-stakeholder approach, it is a collective responsibility and requires a joint effort from all the stakeholders, if not equally, at least substantially.

The program is continuously strengthening its efforts through various activities aimed at increasing nutritional knowledge and adopting healthier lifestyle habits.

N4HK is indicative of what we all need to do in an era of interdependence: share responsibility and take collective action. It may sound difficult, but it starts from home. Eat healthy, promote a healthy lifestyle and most of all, be kind to one another.

Karachi’s Best Organisations Recognised For Their Relentless Commitment At KE’s KHI Awards

Karachi: Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi has existed as a land of opportunities for more than a century. From a small fishing town, Karachi has become the country’s economic base, acting as an incubator for people and organisations which work for the benefit of the city. It is a land of opportunity thanks in no small part due to the efforts of countless welfare and community support organizations and NGOs whose work has or will positively impacted Karachi.

In recognition of their efforts, K-Electric (KE), Pakistan’s largest private electric supply company, recently hosted the “KHI Awards”.

Awarded for their innovative skill sets and their aim to execute their projects with excellence, 34 organisations were awarded in the form of electricity bill rebates, valued from PKR 250,000 to 5 Million, for their contribution, often made in the face of insurmountable odds.

The event was held with all COVID-19 SOPs and in a video message for the winners and hosts, Governor of Sindh, Mr. Imran Ismail said: “The participants and winners of these awards are an integral part of the state, as they support the government in its efforts to help the people of the city across a number of different fields including education, public health, and sustainability.” He further added; “I appreciate KE’s step to recognize the efforts of these NGOs and I am sure that it will be a catalyst towards bigger plans. The process was conducted with utmost transparency and impartiality, and all organizations were evaluated on their performance alone.”

Speaking about the inaugural edition and KE’s association with the city, KE CEO Mr. Moonis Alvi said: ” KE’s relationship with Karachi extends over 107 years, and our work is embedded into the very fabric of this great city. It is heartening that so many competent and passionate organizations are working at the forefront to uplift the city.” These awards are KE’s humble effort to acknowledge their dedication and we are proud to extend our support for their ongoing efforts. KE is also grateful to the jury members who volunteered their time and expertise, as well as our audit partners, who ensured credibility and transparency in the evaluation process.”

Each of the winners were selected following a detailed review process which shortlisted 73 organization from around 140 entries that had been received. Each nominee was largely judged on the efficacy of their project and the way it was executed during the agreed time and within the allocated budgets. This process also included selecting organisations that demonstrated the adoption of best practices with regards to urban innovation and the use of technology and mobile solutions.

Speaking about the entire selection process, the Jury Chair,  Mr. Saad Amanullah Khan, who is also founder of #IAMKARACHI, appreciated the entire exercise: “We had an overwhelming number of entries to choose from for our first edition. The winners have been instrumental in making a tremendous impact on the city, and their total asset base stands at over PKR 54 billion, which is the welfare investment these organizations are making to drive progress in Pakistan and it’s largest metropolitan city. KE’s decision to honor these organizations and empower them on their journey is commendable.”

The nomination processes were audited by EY Ford Rhodes Chartered Accountants, a member firm of Ernst & Young Global Limited, who served as the Official Award Auditors and monitored the end to end process of shortlisting and jury processes against the defined parameters developed by KE.

Yasir Hussain Is All Praises For His Wife Iqra Aziz & Mother-in-law

Iqra Aziz

Iqra Aziz is a talented actress who has won the audience’s heart as the spontaneous Jia at times and at times as the headstrong Noori. Whichever character she dons, you would just know that she would do justice to it. And seeing a recent post by Yasir Hussain, its clear where she gets her sense of hard work.

Yasir Hussain and his Insta Post

Iqra’s husband, Yasir took to Instagram a picture of Iqra with her mother Asiya Aziz. Both of them are seated in a car. A picture that would look like a random casual moment becomes so much more because of its caption.

The caption reads:

”My beautiful wife @iiqraaziz with her proud mother Asiya Aziz (First female careem driver) sitting in her daughter’s new car MASHAALLAH…”

Why is the post so powerful?

This caption makes the moment so much powerful because we come from a society where even now if a woman is driving we form negative opinions about her. And a job as a driver for a woman is never endorsed. In that society, Iqra’s mom, a very strong woman herself, defied stereotypes and became the first female careem driver.

Not to mention, owning a vehicle in current times is so hard because of the rates. So if you buy a car it shows that you have put in tons of effort in your work to finally be able to own a car.

So the first female careem driver who must have faced taunts on the street and negative reactions, persevered all that and was finally able to sit in a car that her daughter bought, is a double achievement.

Yasir Hussain goes to lengths praising the wife and the mother-in-law for their power. And he also left a message for his followers. He said that real men do not believe in imposing restrictions on the women in their family.

Disrespecting The Pakistan Army Can Land You In Jail Now

Pakistan army and new law on disrespecting

There have been many instances where the world has been taken aback a bit. Whether it is related to politics or pop culture, some news just seem to be a bit surprising. Of course, that does not mean that the news itself is something bad, though. It can be a good thing too. Speaking of news, a new bill has passed. It is related to the Pakistan Army and people disrespecting it.

Pakistan has an army that is quite worthy of a mention. They are quite impressive and come among the top five or ten armies of the world. Our soldiers are some of the bravest and boldest to have ever walked this Earth. Pakistan’s history is full of accomplishments that highlight the strength of the army.

Pakistan Army new ruling

Pakistan Army Zindabad:

When we refer to the army here, we think about those that are stationed at the borders. Not being able to visit home because of a responsibility is something not everyone can take. It takes quite a lot of will power to lay down your life for a cause, towards the good of the people. The soldiers deserve our utmost respect for trying to make sure the world doesn’t fall apart.

If we look as special areas of the Pakistan Army, we may just be impressed. Have you ever heard of the SSG? It refers to ‘Special Services Group’ and it’s a unit that houses some of the toughest commandoes ever trained. The training itself is unforgiving and those who make it across are surely considered people of steel.

Passing A New Bill:

So, in recent news, a bill has passed. It states that one cannot disrespect the armed forces of Pakistan, in any manner. Be it memes or slander or hate speech, it is now illegal to do so. If anyone is caught doing it, they will be sentenced to up to 2 years in prison. That or they may also be fined about Rs.5 Lac.

If anyone out there is thinking to bad mouth the armed forces, we urge them to reconsider. One small joke or insult can land them in deep waters. The writer of this article does not want to be someone who steps in their way. It is better to be safe than sorry.

Pakistan army cannot be disrespected

Law Abiding Citizens:

While we do think of making memes, we must remember that none of those should blatantly insult people. If it is making fun of an entity, then its intention is not good humour and must not be promoted. Additionally, if someone speaks out against the entities and speaks out slogans, they are promoting civil unrest. It’s not immediately unrest but it’s a whole chain of events that starts at disrespecting.

It is quite a commendable bill that has been passed. We hope it does bring about good change. After all, the Pakistan Army is doing a tremendous job and they deserve our support on every corner.

5 Things You’re Doing Wrong In A Job Interview

5 Things You're Doing Wrong In A Job Interview

Still waiting for the response on your interview? The chances are you were not the perfect fit for the position. Clearing job interviews are crucial to land your dream job. Most of the time, we make small mistakes that tend to leave a not-so-great impression on the interviewer. Suppose you have been through the same or someone who wants to apply for a job. Then here are some tips to help your ace your next job interview.

1. Coming In Late

Showing up late for the job interview could be a deal-breaker for you. If you are lucky, you might get a slot for an interview later on, but the organization does not rely on people who can not show up on time. It shows a lack of respect and interest from the employee and can leave a grave impression on the employers.

2. Not Coming Prepared

Doing your research is the key before going in for the job interview. If you do not know the company’s basic requirements or the basic requirements of your work, the interviewer might get an idea that you are not interested in the role. The knowledge about the work culture, products, and services a company offers will show you are motivated and competent enough to do the job.

3. Not Being Honest

Being upfront and confident about the job is key to ace any interview. If you know the answer to the question, then explain it, but if you do not know something, then straight up own it. Lying about something you have no idea about could only land you in trouble, and you might lose the employer’s trust.

4. Not paying attention

If you have a lower attention span or can not focus, then change your habit. Being in an interview, it is demanded that you clearly understand and respond to the questions. Playing with your phone could also seem very rude and disrespectful during the interview.

5. Saying irrelevant things

Talking about irrelevant stuff can really put the interviewer off guard. Do not talk about your previous job or your previous employer. Do not come off as someone obsessed with perfection, as perfection is a myth, and mistakes are expected of people. Always know why you can be the greatest asset to the company but do not go overboard.

The Future of Air Travel: Standing Seats and Designated Sleep Areas

air-travel

Foldable, booster-style seats, self-cleaning toilets, and newly defined aircraft cabins are among some of the most interesting aircraft innovations that could take off in the near future.

Winners of the Crystal Cabin Awards were announced at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg Germany this week, which recognizes innovations in aircraft cabins across eight categories.

Here are some of the highlights:

Foldable, ‘booster’ seats

Rebel.Aero’s design for foldable seats similar to the ones found in movie theaters took the award for best Passenger Comfort Hardware this year. The concept is multi-pronged: Foldable seats enable passengers to stand in their own “footwell” space more comfortably and offers easier access to fellow seatmates.

foldable seats

The result? Quicker boarding and turnaround times. Likewise, long-legged passengers can fold up part of the seat pan into a booster-style arrangement, giving them more leg room. The new standing seat configuration also allows passengers to straighten their legs and stretch their lower backs during short-haul flights.

Self-cleaning toilets

Boeing’s much buzzed-about “self-cleaning” toilet took the award in the category of Greener Cabin, Health, Safety and Environment for its slew of features, including a system that can disinfect the bathroom in three seconds and a hands-free experience.

Boeing's self-cleaning toilet

Ultraviolet lights are positioned to shine on surfaces like the toilet seat, sink and countertops once the occupant leaves the loo. Toilet seats are being designed to open and close automatically, while hands-free door latches and faucets are also in development.

Lifestyle Cabin

Zodiac Aerospace dared to reimagine conventional cabin categories which are traditionally divided by fares. Instead, designers propose a new “Lifestyle Cabin” that divides cabins by different needs and desires.

The lounge area, for instance, would be designed to allow passengers to move about freely and socialize, while the sleeper cabin would be reserved for flyers who want nothing but to snooze. Private berths, meanwhile, would be akin to First Class, offering passengers a boutique hotel-like experience with banquet seats that morph into lie-flat beds.

Jemima Calls Imran Khan Out On His Recent Comment On “Pardah”

The problem with our society is that we are very perceptive and reactionary. What that means is that when we look at something, we form our own perception of it and then react without delving into the root cause of it. A similar occurrence took place on Twitter yesterday concerning Jemima Goldsmith, Imran Khan, and the Pakistanis.

PM Imran Khan and the telephonic conversation

Prime Minister Imran Khan has initiated an interesting idea where he talks to the general public through telephone. This way, the masses have the opportunity of being listened to. Amongst those conversations was a telephone call where he gave an answer. The answer got misconstrued and consequently, it spread like wildfire.

What he had referred to in his answer was the vulgarity shown in the media that was leading to frustration within the public and that is why, he said, criminal activities were increasing. This is to note that he did not say anything about hijab or “pardah” of a woman because he also referred to the decades-old British TV content and, well, Britain could not have hijabi women on TV decades ago, could they?

Jemima Reacts

Taken out of context, a mistranslation of the speech went viral where people assumed that the PM was commenting on women’s dressing. And Jemima, too, responded to that without going into the details of what had really happened.

She said that the Imran she knew would never say such a thing. She also quoted a verse from the Quran saying that the Book asks men to practice ‘pardah’ of eyes.

And that was it! Without research, Pakistanis reacted to the tweet. They talked about how women should practice pardah and started quoting different verses from the Holy Quran.

And it was not just the people reacting against Jemima. There were some who took this misquote as a reality as well because they ‘thought’ this must have been what happened given the past events.

Fewer in number but there were people who tried to correct this misinformation.

But we know that those spreading misinformation would always get more eyeballs.

Japanese Automaker Subaru Is Designing A Flying Motorcycle

Subaru Developing new motorcycle

If we take a look at individual inventions, it would be quite interesting to see the world. In each era, there have been people who have put their minds to their best. They have tried to make a contribution to the world and they have come up with amazing results. Now, in automobiles, Subaru seems to be coming up with another new invention. Yes, they have a new motorcycle under development.

The world of automotive is seeing more and more development every day. We may just be nearing a future that has been depicted in ‘Tron’ or ‘Back to the future II’. It is one thing to see an electric car on the road, but it is another thing to see a flying car. Now, we may not have reached as far as flight in terms of cars, but recent news tells us that we may be getting there. It is something that we may not have seen in real life but have heard of it before.

Subaru is setting standards:

When the roadster came out in 2008, people did not quite grasp what Tesla was up to. Now, we understand that this is a company hell bent on paving the way to the future. Similarly, Subaru is joining this race. They have had an impressive run, since their advent, and continue to manufacture capable vehicles. If you pass by a Subaru on the street, you cannot help but glance at that logo on the front. Subaru BRZ is one of the best vehicles to have ever crossed the hands of the public. It was featured in numerous drag races and it performed quite well.

Now, it seems that Subaru is moving towards the future with a huge bound. Yes, they are working on a new motorcycle, as we have already mentioned. However, the special part about this is that it is going to be a flying motorcycle! Is that not a news fit for the history books. Up until now, we have seen BMW make advancements in the motorcycle domain. Now it seems that Subaru has stepped up their game yet again.

The flying motorcycle:

The Japanese company has recently filed a patent for the research and development of a flying motorcycle. Now this motorcycle will have functionality similar to either a helicopter or an airplane. While the patent application was revealed on April fool’s day, it is definitely no joke. Subaru really is going to go through with this motorcycle!

It seems that the vehicle is going to have a vertical takeoff and landing capabilities (VTOL). It might be something similar to what we have heard and seen from hydra planes. What is more interesting is that this motorcycle is not going to be powered by all electricity. Rather, it is going to run on an internal combustion engine!

We hope that the company continues to rise through the ranks and makes more similar inventions. You never know what comes after flying motorcycles.

Oppo Soon To Release Phone With Invisible Selfie Camera

Development is taking place in nearly every domain today. Whether it is the health sector, the business one or the technological one, there is no end to innovation. Wherever we turn our heads, we see people moving forward with ingenious ideas. If we talk specific to smartphones, the companies are making newer and newer models with each passing day. It seems that one of them, Oppo, has recently started development on a new concept smartphone. There are some features of it that are worth mentioning.

Oppo rose out of the smoke as one of the greatest brands of all time. While it may not have started off as a famous one, there aren’t others that have. It started to give competition to other titans and released entire lines of phones. OnePlus and realme are both products of Oppo. Pakistan has a lot of fan following for Oppo and people love buying their phones. They offer flagship capabilities in a reasonable range. So what is the news that has been leaked?

Oppo with invisible camera

Where Oppo Stands:

If we look at just the events of the last two years, Oppo has accomplished quite a lot. Where it used to be an underdog, it now resides among the champions of smartphones. They offer such a huge variety and range that everyone wants to be a part of their technological revolution. There are phones, under their brand, that have innovative cameras as well as robust quality. realme is one of the best functioning brands in Pakistan. It is a budget titan right now and there aren’t many that dare to question its capability.

Now, the new phone that they have in mind is quite a unique one. The world is moving away from a lot of wired technology. This was predicted by Nikolai Tesla back in the mid-20th century. Now it’s just that people are looking more and more towards wireless. Oppo’s new phone is said to have not even one port on it. Yes, it will be completely smooth, with no ports on the whole body.

The Portless Phone:

While it has been stated that there will be no ports on the phone, it is not entirely true. The phone is said to come with a wire and wireless charging option. It is just that the port will be so neatly concealed that it will give the illusion of no port. The concept of the phone is similar to the Apex concept phone of 2020.

The information leak also states that the camera on the rear end will be tucked under electro chromic glass. Additionally, it is said that the front camera will be an under-display camera. This is quite an interesting feature as it saves space and gives more room to the screen. The buttons on the side are said to be pressure sensitive.

While we still have some information from the leak, it is not apparent as to what the specifications are. Let us find those out and keep you update as news develops. However, we can inform you that Oppo is also working on two foldable phones.

5 Weirdest Turkish Foods That You ‘Might’ Want To Try Or Maybe Not

Turkish Foods

Turkey is one of those very few countries that have tourism open even in this COVID rigged world. And so, everyone who can is opting to fly to Turkey. For tourists, as travel ethics suggests, it is essential to taste the delicacies of their destination country. So if you are in Turkey, by default, you just have to try the Turkish Foods. Or do you?

If you are from South Asia, your taste buds cannot accept just any food. Or just the idea may make you want to vomit. But liking something, let alone food, is a very subjective concept. So we will give you a list of Turkish foods, and you can decide for yourself if you want to taste them or vomit on them.

1. Cig kofte

The cig kofte is your meatballs, just raw. They must have been low on fire when they invented this dish. And we know Turkey is a cold country. Whatever the reasoning, just imagine chewing on to a piece of meat that has a residue of blood absorbed in it, and you can even smell it.

2. Tavuk Göğsü

This is easier to explain than to pronounce. It is kheer. You are familiar with kheer, aren’t you? Rice or some other element is cooked in milk and sugar. Well, with this dish, that ‘some other element’ is chicken. It is cooked and cooked to such an extent that it gets shredded. Turkish people promise that it may sound gross to you, but it is delicious.

3. Kokorec

If you have seen the entire process of sacrificing a goat during Eid-ul-Azha, you would have come across a strange scene. Things like spaghetti, very large spaghetti coming out of the goat. Those are the intestines. Kokorec is made of those intestines. They wrap it up, cook it. And once it’s cooked, they shred it and put it in a bun or bread.

4. Cilbir

It is made out of egg yolk and yogurt primarily. You can add butter sauce to it. This sounds eatable with nothing gross. But it’s weird, eating poached eggs with yogurt.

5. iskembe corbasi

It is Tripe soup!!! Tripe is stomach lining. And they make a soup out of it. Just make sure that you are very aware of that when you order ‘iskembe corbasi’ at a Turkish restaurant.

For me, Cig Kofte seemed the weirdest. I mean, who even eats raw meat. Indeed they must have stable teeth there. I would like to stick with a safe choice such as Pizza and reserve all sense of adventure for sightseeing if these are the choices available.

Samsung Galaxy S9 Rumours Have Already Hit the Web!

Samsung-Galaxy-S9

Although Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus have not even been available for pre-booking yet, reports state that the company is already in works with their upcoming flagship, Samsung Galaxy S9.

Even though the sources were not names, The Bell claims in their report that the team within the company have already started working on the display panel for the 2018 Samsung flagship since the end of March.

If this indeed it is true and not rumour, then this means that Samsung is already 6 months ahead of schedule than they were last year.

“Since late last month, a display team for the S9 has started the development work with aims to supply samples from mid-April. About a month after the display, other key parts such as modules are expected to be developed in phases.”– Source
As of now, it is being assumed that the Samsung Galaxy S9 will come in two variants, most likely 5.8- and 6.2-inch display panels – screen diagonals which are identical to this year’s S8 models.
As far as Note 8 is concerned, Samsung’s mobile division has already confirmed that the company will launch Samsung Galaxy Note 8 aka ‘Great’ by year-end. A few interesting rumours about the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 have also been mentioned in the report. The next Note is expected to come with the largest screen we’ve seen on a premium Samsung phone. Apparently, the display will measure at 6.32 inches, and it is speculated that we will see a fingerprint scanner embedded under the front glass.
