Whether a woman should wear a hijab is her personal choice. Hijab is not just a piece of cloth. It’s a lifestyle, and if one cannot give it its due respect, it’s better to not accustom to it in the first place. However, the debate does not stop here. According to netizens, since Pakistan is a Muslim state, the representation of this state on media makes them obligated to follow the code.

Pakistan is seeing quite a lot of shocking incidents in the past decades. Many of these don’t even see the light of day and go unreported. We are talking about the merciless criminal activities that leave people in a state of trauma or worse. On 14th August, independence day, there was not much to celebrate. The country witnessed one of the most grotesque, inhumane, and criminal incidents A woman who was visiting Minar-e-Pakistan for leisure, was attacked by a mob of more than 400 men, assaulted, and harrassed.
Since then, a lot of the nation is infuriated and is asking for justice. This is a criminal act of a high order and deserves swift and just punishment. The concept of ‘Consent’ seems to be alien to these people. They think they are entitled to do whatever they want to. The lack of justice and the very nature of this incident boils the blood.
Minar-e-Pakistan Incident And The Government
According to sources, PM Imran Khan has spoken to IG Punjab regarding this incident. PM’s close aide, Zulfiqar Bukhari, also tweeted an update. It said that the perpetrators will not get away with this and each and every single criminal will be caught. They further said that they are identifying individuals through video footage. The police registered a case against 400 men for assaulting the woman, who was just minding her own business.

The most horrifying incident occurred at Minar-e-Pakistan on the 14th of August. A woman peacefully celebrating independence day was groped, molested, harassed and stripped by not one, two, or three men but by 400 men. While you let that sink in, #Notallmen is trending on Twitter.
The Incident
The incident occurred 4 days ago and it only came to light yesterday. The fact that such a disgustingly horrifying case took 3 days to even become public shows a lot. The female was with her friends at the national monument where out of nowhere men started attacking her.
400 men, collectively, attacked her and groped her for hours. The video shows daylight fade in the background and she received no help. A single call to the police could have also helped but people rather made videos. In the end, the woman’s clothes were ripped.
So far, a case has been filed and an FIR has been registered. Women on social media and on Tiktok are using their skills to find the men involved in the act. Many faces have come to light such as these, take screenshots at your will and send them to the police.
Twitter Trends
However, as if it could not get worse, #NotAllMen started trending on Twitter. Those men who were not present at the monument to participate in this vile act felt offended. The trend triggered many women and allies who started aggressively campaigning to the contrary.

A traffic police warden and an assistant were suspended in Lahore for misbehaving with a family near Calvary ground.
The warden stopped a women driver for not wearing a seat belt. As soon as they step out of the car, the warden hits the man accompanying the woman with the car door. He hit the man as he slammed the car door open. The video shows a woman talking to the warden, trying to calm him down. However, as soon as the women tried to intervene, the warden started misbehaving with the women. The warden kept pushing them both against the car until people began gathering, trying to resolve the matter.

A Recent Incident
The suspension of police officers is not something we have ever seen before. Previously, many such incidents have occurred where the officers are suspended or dismissed from their posts. A few weeks ago, a police officer was arrested after charges were filed against him for abusing a woman as he exposes himself in front of her.
He has been suspended, case registered against him and arrested on the orders of IG Punjab Inam Ghani. He will be dismissed from service and convicted too. What is a crime for others is a crime for a police officer too.

“Bhai” is a Pakistani short film directed and written by Hamza Bangash. The executive producers of the film are Mina Husain of the Pakistan Institute of Living and Learning (PILL) and Salman Ahmed. It has been co-produced by Taha Sabri of Taskeen and Westbury Group. Carol Noronha acts as the producer with Ammar Ul Haque as the DOP.

Why Is It Special?
“Bhai” is a short film about two brothers. One of them is on the autism spectrum and the film explores shame, trauma, and brotherhood. In our society, autism is not properly understood and it is impossible to find the right resources for it. It is treated like a hopeless case. However, this movie shows the brother on the spectrum as simply “differently-abled”, a term we have yet to adopt.

This film is special because it casts a person on the spectrum to act in the capacity of a person on the spectrum. Usually, neuro-typical people/actors are made to act out in these roles. “Bhai” is honest in its depiction. Seeing someone actually with a neurological condition is bound to open our eyes. It has the power to make the audience more sensitive to autism.

The Director’s Words
Hamza Bangash, the director and writer of the film, hopes to instigate a change with his decision. By casting a differently-abled person in his short film, he hopes to make a case for the minority. He believes they deserve a chance just as much as neurotypical people do. The Pakistani society/industry lacks in this regard.

Bangash also believes the differently-abled can give more to the industry with their nuanced performances. This also does not only apply to those who are differently-abled. If there is a role of a transgender, instead of turning men/women into one, cast actual transgenders.
It comes as no surprise that “Bhai” has bagged a spot at one of the most prestigious and exclusive film festivals in the world, “The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF)”. The festival will screen it in September, making us all proud beyond belief.

The primary celebration in this regard was held at the project site of Zee Avenue; a mixed-use, state-of-the-art real estate development featuring the world-famous hotel Ramada by Wyndham. The event was attended by Zameen.com Senior Director Laeeq Chaudhary, Directors Basil Hafeez, Muhammad Usman, Ali Rehan, and Haider Murtaza, along with the management of Zee Avenue and Ramada by Wyndham.
Addressing the Independence Day ceremony, Mr. Chaudhary stated that Pakistan had achieved its freedom as a result of the unimaginable sacrifices made by our forefathers, and that we all have a part to play in protecting and developing our country. He added that August 14 was a reminder for the people of this country to forget their ethnic differences and unite to become one nation — with every citizen willing to sacrifice all for the betterment of Pakistan. The senior director further said that Zameen.com had done everything in its capacity to bring innovation to the real estate industry and that the company had played a pioneering role in promoting economic activity in the property sector and its related industries.
A spokesperson representing Zee Avenue and Ramada by Wyndham also took the opportunity to address the crowd, saying that everyone present at the ceremony wanted to see Pakistan become a prosperous country. However, he added that in order for the country to succeed, each person had to play their part in the process. He further said that “Independence is a divine blessing and in order to achieve it, unforgettable sacrifices had to be made, which is why we have been able to live as a free nation for so long”.

In this case, Allah also set a limit of four marriages. After the battle in order to bring the society back to harmony, men were allowed to marry up to 4 women. This would mean more women are settled and their children also have security for their futures.

However, even in this allowance, Allah gave many instructions, said Hamza Ali Abbasi. Allah especially asked to do more than one marriage if ‘insaf’ can be done between each wife. According to Hamza Ali Abbasi, being fair is extremely difficult hence, only one should be done.
Many in our society believe that the Book has ordered Muslims to marry more than once or marry four times. However, Hamza Ali Abbasi believes that is not the case. He shares how in the Arab tradition, people married unlimitedly. However, Allah restricted that to four.

Even after restriction, He advised marrying once as that is better and prevents one from being wrongful. If men marry in zest four times and then are unable to be fair to their wives, they will be punished severely.
Thus, the allowance came at a special, extraordinary time. Moreover, it came in a nuanced way— it did not come without its restrictions, conditions and limitations. One should not overestimate themselves to think they can fulfil all obligations. As Hamza Ali Abbasi said, it is best to do only one. Have you heard of Pasta Chips before? We haven’t. But unlike anything we have seen in the past, this one looks delicious and it is so easy to make that you can have this every day. Your everyday tea-time snacking will be made more accessible with this recipe, not to mention the tea parties. But wait! Have we mentioned the healthy twist which you can bring to the recipe? Thanks to whoever was genius enough to come up with an idea of an air fryer.

Now that we have created so much curiosity around the recipe, let’s dive right into it.
Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook farfalle pasta according to the package instructions.
Transfer pasta to a large bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Add Parmesan cheese, oregano, red chilli pepper, black pepper and salt. Gently stir until evenly combined.
Place pasta in the air fryer basket in batches and cook for 5 minutes. Flip with a spatula and cook for 2 to 5 minutes. Repeat with remaining pasta. Allow cool completely for final crisping.
You can also bake them in the oven if you don’t own an air fryer.
Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese.
Serve with your favourite dip or sauces. That’s it. Enjoy!
