How To Help Karachi’s Poorest Citizens This Winter

With inflation hitting an all-time high and the season embracing Karachi with harsh cold winter, it is only natural to analyze that those living below their means are suffering the most. The basic utilities such as gas, electricity, and water are getting out of reach day by day making the lives of the people difficult all around. During winter, the need for such necessities also increases. However, the current economic stride isn’t going to settle anytime soon, and neither the inflation.

During these times, it is important to look out for people who don’t have enough to fulfill their daily needs. If you want to lend a helping hand,  here’s how you can find ways to help those in need.

1. Donate Warm Clothes

Warm clothes, blankets, and heating equipment is the most important need for the winter season. Those who can afford to swap their wardrobes yearly with new clothes must donate their old clothes to those who cannot afford to buy new ones. Donating heating pads and giving away old bedding can also help homeless people and those living in cold places without insulation.

2. Raise Funds

If you are watching out for a certain family or an NGO then the best way to help them is to raise funds on your own. Raising funds for a specific charity yourself ensures that the money is going into the right hands and will be used for the need that it was raised to cater to.

3. Donate Groceries

The prices of groceries and food items are at an all-time high. Donating food items and edibles is a great way to cater to the poor. Hunger is a major burden and must be the most important thing you need to keep in mind once you decide to help someone out.

4. Donate Commodities

Getting access to commodities is extremely difficult in winter, especially for those who cannot afford to spend extra money on anything. Getting gas cylinders, electrical stoves, and fuel for firewood is a great way to help the poor keep themselves safe from hunger and cold.

Pakistanis Lose Their Cool After This Wedding ‘Rasam’ Goes Viral

A video that has caught the attention of social media is receiving a lot of flak from the netizens. The video which is circulating on social media shows a rasam being performed at the wedding. This video shows the brothers-in-law of the bride holding onto her knees in a very cringe manner. This rasam which is typically performed at Pakistani weddings is among the most common rasams. However, the way that it has been portrayed in this video seems wrong on so many levels.

Goda Pakrai – Wedding Rasam?

If you didn’t know what Goda Pakrai is, well now you know. It is a rasam where the bride gives money to her brother-in-law simply as a gesture of goodwill. However, what is shown in the video simply strays away from the actual idea. In the video, the brothers-in-law of the bride are vigorously holding and shaking onto her knees. The bride can be seen feeling uncomfortable, however, trying to shake it off.

Here’s a video from the wedding event below.

The wedding rituals which seem to be getting out of hand with every passing year show how wedding events have become more of a chance for people to show off their status than celebrating a bond between two families. This has raised a lot of issues for families and can have a lifelong impact on society if not treated carefully.

Google’s Camera Technology: How Pixel Phones Are Changing The Game

Google’s first-party hardware has never represented a significant portion of the market for smartphones worldwide. Although they have made it into the top five in the U.S. and Western Europe, Pixel devices only account for less than 1% of the market as a whole. Of course, the business got off to a slow start, primarily observing as manufacturers like Samsung and Huawei supplied millions of Android handsets.

The pixel series

Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro (2022): Features, Price, Release Date | WIRED
Source: Wired

The Pixel 3a was unveiled at I/O in an effort to boost the market’s underwhelming sales by offering a more affordable smartphone. The item, which had a $399 beginning price, seemed to be well received. More carrier partners and the 3a practically doubled the line’s year-over-year growth. In light of everything said, it appears to be a very safe bet that the six-month Pixel/Pixela cycle will continue moving ahead.

Naturally, the introduction of a mid-range smartphone increases the pressure on the firm to distinguish the flagship. The Pixel 4’s $799 starting price makes it an affordable flagship by today’s standards. However, Google must demonstrate enough unique features to justify a $400 price difference between smartphones, especially after the firm said software updates for flagship handsets will soon be available for their more affordable equivalents.

A competition for android and iOS?

To set the Pixel line apart from the “a” line, the product’s design is improved slightly. Although Google’s phones have never been as showy as Samsung’s or Apple’s, this model does step up the luxury vibe with a new dual-sided glass design (Gorilla Glass 5 on both) and a metal band. The product also adds a little weight to the device because it is thicker and heavier than the 3.

The revolutionary camera technology

In a word, the camera is excellent. You can actually start using it to take pictures for the website. The Virgin Galactic space suit story, Amazon Echo review, and Google Nest Mini review were all captured on the Pixel 4. Of course, the phone isn’t quite a “leave your DSLR at home” offer, but dammit if it can’t capture a stunning shot with little fiddling in less-than-perfect and mixed light.

There’s no denying that this signifies a subtle but significant philosophical shift for Google. The business ultimately bit the bullet and adopted a second camera after several generations of promising that software solutions could handle the bulk of picture processing. Sometimes moving ahead requires giving up earlier opinions.

A second camera is not added subtly either. It’s actually difficult to miss. Google has picked a well-known square layout for the device’s back. I assume that’s just the way modern phones seem. With two horizontally aligned lenses, a sensor up top, and a flash down bottom, it’s actually not that bad if you get over your first trypophobia. As one of the speakers from last week half-joked, “We hope you’ll use it as a flashlight.”

Pixel phones’ camera sensitivity

Google Pixel Phones - Google Store
Source: Google Store

One might convincingly argue that the Pixel 4’s camera is the finest in its class. The images are self-explanatory. Some frame-worthy images were created with little to no post-processing or manual edits. Google provides on-screen options, such as the brand-new dual-exposure control that allows you to instantly manually change the brightness and shadow brightness. But in all honesty, I believe that the best method to evaluate these cameras is to point them at a target, as most consumers would do.

The bulk of individuals who purchase these handsets won’t be playing around with the settings too much, that is a truth. Therefore, it falls mostly on device manufacturers to make sure that users always get the greatest shot, no matter the situation. Again, a lot of the labor-intensive work is being done by software. Super Res Zoom and the new lens complement each other nicely, but Live HDR+ performs a superior job at simulating the final appearance of the image after post-processing. You don’t have to stand at a set distance from the subject to benefit from the nicely executed fake bokeh in portrait mode photographs because the device can snap them at a variety of depths.

Mission “Majnu” Or Mission “Staying Obsessed With Pakistan Forever”?

The Bollywood industry has time and again shown their love for Pakistan. Be it through  their films or copying Pakistani songs, India has always shown their immense likability for their close neighbors. India and Pakistan have always been like that one toxic couple we all know. But lately, India is kind of looking like the obsessive ex. Bollywood has yet again, announced the release of a new spy thriller, based on the historical events before and during the Indo-Pak war called Mission Majnu. Here’s the trailer, have a look!

The plot is set in the 1970s, an undercover Indian spy takes on a deadly mission to expose a covert nuclear weapons program in the heart of Pakistan. Or this is at least how they have put it. The event of India’s covert operation have been displayed in the film. However, the portrayal is far from true. Many things have been fabricated and have been wrongly showed, which have led the public to think that the film is nothing but far from reality.

Many netizens took to the internet to speak their minds, especially on Twitter and Instagram. Here’s some stating the facts.

Other people in the audience, also had similar things to say. But in general, Pakistani people had nothing but to mock the trailer of the new film. The young Bollywood superstar has also been facing trolling his Instagram posts. The term “Endians” has also been trending on multiple social media. Others have also called the film “propaganda”

On the other hand, Pakistanis also mocked the way Bollywood producers and directors show Pakistanis in their movies. Every Pakistani is shown in a specific way with a namaz cap, a kaffiyeh wearing a taweez and a tazbeeh in their hand with kajal in their eyes. They also talk in a very formal way using “aap”, “janab” No matter the role or character, all of them are potrayed the same way. Pakistanis beg to differ and they did not hold back when expressing their opinions.

Fans have been annoyed that as much as they love Bollywood movies, this is not the first time Pakistanis have been shown like this. Here’s an example from other Bollywood Pakistani characters. Murad from Gully Boy and Rauf Lala from Agneepath.

So clearly, Indian movies have become a joke on this side of the border. As fans suggest, maybe being realistic and not so “obsessed” with Pakistan will help because right now Mission Majnu has been made into nothing but a meme.

What are your thoughts about this? Let us know in the comments below.

Sony PS5 vs Xbox Series X: Which Console Reigns Supreme?

The PlayStation 5 vs. Xbox Series X competition is still heated almost two years after their launches. Both game systems wowed us in our evaluations and continue to do so even as the newest generation picks up steam and the machines get additional capabilities and games. Finding out which one is best for you is important if you can only select one.

Ps5 vs Xbox series X Games

Game libraries are handled quite differently on the PS5 and Xbox Series X. The Xbox Series X makes the assumption that you’ll continue playing the same games you started on the Xbox One and will desire optimal performance for all of your favorites. Contrarily, the PS5 came with a plethora of unique games, albeit to be fair, the most of them are also playable on the PS4.

It’s difficult to argue against the PS5’s more interesting game collection right now. Just in terms of first-party games, the PS5 debuted with Astro’s Playroom, Demon’s Souls, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Demon’s Souls. More recently, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart demonstrated exactly how a next-generation game ought to look.

Contrast this with the Xbox Series X, which had no launch-day exclusive games. Instead, Microsoft unveiled a list of 30 games that are “optimized for Xbox Series X/S(opens in new tab),” including well-known games like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4. Despite the fact that the Xbox Series X improvements are outstanding, not all of these titles are recent releases.

Ps5 vs Xbox series X performance

Sony PS5 Vs. Xbox Series X Technical Analysis: Why The PS5's 10.3 TFLOPs Figure Is Misleading
Source: Wccoftech

Currently, it is difficult to compare the performance of the PS5 and Xbox Series X since Tom’s Guide lacks the specialist tools needed to thoroughly assess resolution and frame rate.

In light of this, I qualitatively contrasted two games—Creed Assassin’s Valhalla and Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition—across both platforms. The first game has a sizable open world, making it simple to gauge load times as you quickly move between far-flung locations on the globe. The latter is a quick-paced action game, so any framerate loss is quickly apparent.

First, Sony’s bold promises regarding the load times of the PS5 are accurate. Fast travel between locations took less than 10 seconds, while Assassin’s Creed Valhalla loaded from the main menu in under a minute. Fast travel time was the same on both consoles, even though the Xbox Series X took slower to start the game initially (almost a minute).

Design

The majority of the time, whether you enjoy a console’s design is a matter of personal taste. However, I prefer not to since I find the PS5’s appearance repulsive. The conventional version of the system has an unsightly, asymmetrical appearance in addition to being ridiculously huge and difficult to transition from vertical to a horizontal position.

Even while both systems have a promising start and have a lot of space for growth, the Xbox Series X now feels like a little superior investment. The Xbox Series X has an early advantage over the competition in the next generation of consoles because to its superior technology, better design, more extensive game subscription service, and enjoyable controller.

What are your thoughts on the two consoles? Let us know in the comments below.

Beyond The Checkout Lane: Here’s Why Brands Charge For Shopping Bags

Many brands have now introduced shopping bags as part of their products. Offering shopping bags may be a new marketing strategy or simply may just be a step towards being earth friendly.

A change of pattern has been seen in many brands, whatever the reason may be. New and more sustainable products have been launched by a lot of the brands. One such product is paper bags instead of plastic bags.

Why Are Paper Bags Better?

Paper bags have some advantages over plastic bags when it comes to sustainability. They are easier to recycle, and, because they are biodegradable, they can be used for purposes like composting. Bags that can not be recycled end up becoming litter, because they do not biodegrade. In addition to filling up landfills and becoming eyesores, plastic bags that become litter endanger many facets of the environment, including marine life and the food chain. Also, many paper bags can withstand more pressure or weight than plastic bags so now customers can shop as much as they want without worrying about how they’ll carry it.

Why Are Brands Charging For Them?

Everything comes at a price. And, when it’s the bare minimum of Rs.50, it’s a bargain. Many brands charge an average amount of Rs.50 for these bags at the time of checkout. Paper is very resource-heavy to produce. Manufacturing a paper bag takes about four times as much energy as it takes to produce a plastic bag. This means higher production costs for the company. Almost every brand has profit maximization as one of its aims. So, if they try to cut costs, it might just be fair enough.

Although, not everyone may agree with this point of view but on the brighter side, this can be thought of as a little gift from the brand to its brand-conscious customers. Along with being earth friendly, sustainable, and a fan-favorite brand, companies introducing paper bags is a really good initiative.

Partner Program Modules

Module 1 – Watch Page Monetization Module. The first module allows creators to earn money from ads.  These ads are run on the creators’ long-form videos and YouTube Premium.

Module 2 – Shorts Monetization Module. The second module can let content creators earn money from ads that play between Shorts in the Shorts Feed and YouTube Premium.

Module 3 – Commerce Product Addendum. This feature is basically for Channel Memberships and Superstars.

Creators who are eligible to apply for the program must have at least 1,000 subscribers and more than 10 million views on Shorts over 90 days. If they fit the following criteria then they can start with the Shorts Monetization Module.

Creators Funds

According to YouTube, the money generated by the ads will go towards paying music licensing companies and creators. There is a shared pool where the funds will be collected and calculated at the end of each month. The amount of money going to the creator pool will depend on the number of musical tracks creators feature in their Shorts. A clip with no music will divert the revenue associated with that video toward the creator pool. Meanwhile, for a Short with a single song, about one-third of the related revenue will go toward paying for licensing. In a Short with two songs, two-thirds will go toward licensing.

The funds will then be distributed based on the creators’ video views. If a creator gets 5% eligible views out of all Shorts uploaded by monetizing creators, they will then be allocated 5% of the revenue in the creator pool. Creators will keep 45% of their allocated Shorts revenue and the YouTube will get a 55 percent revenue cut.
