Since Lynda Carter’s first portrayal of the most famous female super-hero in a genre of heroes mostly dominated by men, Wonder Woman’s recent portrayal by Gal Gadot has provided a flurry of excitement among DC fans. This film goes back to the comic book roots of the character that originated during World War 1 and her advent of her super-hero motives.

Last year’s Episode 7: The Force Awakens took the entertainment world by storm as it racked up the quickest views to a million on YouTube. It carried on from George Lucas’ legendary 1980s trilogy, with the cast of Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, along with a new young ensemble as well. Anyone who watched the last movie knows how the last movie’s cliffhanger left them wanting more, hence this is an essential movie to pencil in your movie calendar.

4. The Dark Tower

Release date: 17th February

This movie may not be the most popular movie on the list, but if Stephen King novels and books are anything to go by, then you are in for some ride. The Dark Tower promises to be an inept adaption to Stephen King’s famous novel. It would be done by the immaculate direction of Ron Howard in which a gunslinger Roland Deschain roams around in an old- western landscape in search of the dark tower in hopes that reaching it will preserve his dying world.

The cast includes the talented Idris Elba as Roland, along with the Academy award-winning actor Matthew McConaughey .The tandem of Ron Howard, the cast and Stephen King’s novel seems to be an exciting prospect.

3. Logan

Release date: 3rd March

17 years after a relative newbie and a young Australian Hugh Jackman was introduced as the Wolverine in the very first big-picture adaption of the X-Men, Hugh Jackman will dawn the adamantium claws for the last time in the movie Logan. The actor is stepping away from the franchise for good. Following relative in-steps from the Old-Man Logan comic storyline; the movie follows an old and weakened Wolverine in the recent future, where almost all the mutants are wiped off by the Essex Corps, along with a dying Professor Xavier struggle to survive in the hostile environment.

They come across a clone, a young girl, similar to Wolverine in mutant abilities, who is being searched for by the Essex Corps. The duo take it on to themselves to protect the young girls while also trying to survive the onslaught by the Essex Corps.

2. Justice League

Release date: 17th November

This year’s Batman vs Superman was undoubtedly one of the movies that fans had waited generations for. From young fans to old, this was the one to savor, the one that had the incentive over the Marvel’s cinematic universe. But what we got in the end was a complete and utter mess of a movie. While the super-heroes and their performances and portrayals weren’t bad, the movie as a whole was a complete disappointment. Even though the disappointment of the hugely popular movie concept was a big blow to DC, it gave birth to the already decided concept of forming the Justice League, something that was never seen on the big screen.

Regardless of the travel destination or the activity – if a person is away from home, he will want to record every second of his time and share on all his social media websites. These pictures follow a set pattern, one which every traveler has taken at some point in their life.

Me on a plane

Yes, everyone knows traveling involves transportation and mostly the mode is through air. “Finally taking off”, “Ohmygod! Almost there!!” or “Traveling in business class (Y)” are some of the pictures we get to see a lot, followed by a check-in at the airport.

Everyone in their childhood has gone through the phase of standing behind a board to get their picture done as one of the super-heroes. Now? It’s just plain old and way too childish. Grow out of it!

“I’m in paradise”

One of the most hated pictures of all times is of the blue water and the palm trees with blue sky in the background, claiming “I’m in Paradise”. All over the world, people are tired of their friends/family/colleagues send them these pictures. You want us to be jealous? Yes we are, are you happy now? Stop!

Writing in the sand

Seriously? Pictures like these make others think whether you’re still a kid. Writing things like your name or phrases like “A <3 N” or “wish you were here” are a tad bit much.

Traveling is one of the most beautiful thing out there. The experience and the chance to see places and experience cultures and differences is for needs to be captured rather than the cliché pictures that end up annoying the people you share it with.

China Launches Direct Rail & Sea Freight Service As Part of CPEC

Xinhua media revealed that China and Pakistan have recently launched a direct rail and sea freight service, as a part of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC), which is an extension of China’s Maritime Silk Road initiative.

A cargo train loaded with 500 tons of supplies was transferred to Karachi from Kunming, the capital of Yunnan, which is an inland province in southwest China, to the port city of Guangzhou.

This officially makes this the first delivery from this specific route. This 3,000-kilometre network of roads, railways and pipelines are used to transfer oil and gas from Gwadar Port to Kashgar city in China.

An employee from New Silk Road Yunnan Limited, estimating that the development will reduce the transport cost by over 50 per cent as compared to older routes, stated, “The route helps locals businesses connect with the world market.”

Recently in October, Pakistan and China commenced their trade partnership under CPEC with hundreds of Chinese containers brought to the Sust port in Hunz to be delivered to Gwadar, only after clearing the mandatory customs.

Accompanying him on this trip was Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang who announced that the CPEC’s new Maritime Silk Route would form a close connection between the three billion people residing in Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Travel checklist: Things to Remember Before Leaving for Vacation

Where travelling is one of the many ways to feel relaxed and have fun, it can also be the one thing that causes you major stress if not done right. Keeping in mind the vacation season that will undoubtedly begin right on or after Eid for many of us, I have grouped together a bunch of requisites that you need to check so that your travel may be fun and safe.

Check all your documents

If you are going overseas, then you will most certainly need a number of documents, your passport and visa for example. Acquiring them is one thing, keeping them in a safe place is another and actually having hold of them just before you leave is another thing altogether.

The day before you leave, be sure to keep all of these documents in the travel bag that you are taking along. Misplacing these documents is the stuff that nightmares are made of, trust me.

Get travel insurance

Travelling to another country can be both adventurous and scary. In the event that you either get hurt or lose certain precious items a worthy travel insurance package will always have your back.

Make copies of these documents

Having just one of these is not enough. You need to make copies of these documents. This is a cautionary step that can prove to be of immense help in certain circumstances.

Take care of how you leave things behind

If you will be leaving your house vacant, even for a few days, there are certain things that you must take care of first:

Consume all the perishables in your fridge or give them away. Things like milk and left-over food items can turn into a huge mess even if they are in your fridge.
Do not leave dirty dishes in the sink. A single dirty dish in the sink could lead to a nasty fungal infestation.
If you are leaving for a number of days, it would do you good if you ask some neighbors that you trust to keep an eye on your house. If you have been neighbors for a long time and you trust them completely, you could also give them the keys to your residence. This could be of help in emergency situations like if your house was on fire.
If you have pets you need to make necessary arrangements for their wellbeing. You could either send them to a relative’s place or see if a pet store could keep them for you for a few days. In Pakistan, there aren’t any commercial places that provide pet owners with a place to keep their pets if they do go on vacations.

Pack light

Your packing should begin mentally at least a week before you travel. If you are going to a colder region think about taking sweaters or jackets that could probably be worn with a number of different suits. Similarly, if you are going to a warmer region take clothes that can be worn in several different combinations.

Packing light does not only save you from the misery of hauling around a heavy suitcase or a backpack but it also provides you with additional space to keep items that you might gather along or buy during your travels. Most of the times people end up paying a lot more just to bring along all the extra luggage that they have bought from the places that they have visited.

Take care of the currency that you are going to use

There are two things that you need to consider:

You need to take cash along. You could need that to hail a taxi or eat something once you reach your destination. It would be foolish if you do not have at least some cash in your wallet, you never know when you might end up needing it.
You need to make sure all of your cash is not kept in one place and as a safer alternative, you should think about investing in debit or credit cards that might work in the place that you are hoping to travel to.

Take your medicines and some first aid items with you

While it is true that taking medicines on board might not be permitted but you can take certain tablets like Ponston and Brufen if you have a doctor’s prescription. On the other hand, if you need to take certain medicines like those prescribed by your doctor then you must ensure that you take along enough tablets that last your entire trip. You won’t be able to have much fun if you end up feeling unwell on your trip.

Keep a pack of bandage and a bottle of Dettol along with you. This could prove to be of extreme help if you are travelling with kids.

Make a list of all the thing you are going to do

If you are travelling to a new place, make sure you know all you can about places that you are going to visit. Check out the internet, download travel applications and make yourself a list of places that you need to visit or things that you need to do once you reach your destination.

It has been a long time since we witnessed the leading Pakistani male supermodel, Shahzad Noor on our television screens. Last year, he marked his acting debut with Geo TV’s Tera Mera Rishta drama. Now he is all set to return in dramas with ARY Digital’s Yeh Ishq.

The heartthrob will be sharing screen space with the beauties, Asma Abbas and Anum Ahmed. The drama is directed by Badar Mehmood and is written by Asma Syani.

The revival of cinema culture in Pakistan has set a chain reaction in motion. Our local movies have already replaced international ones in the theaters and audiences are loving it. The content is good, the songs catchy and soulful. The next step is going digital and that too is being done! Djuice Pakistan is in works to launch the country’s first online movie Oye Kuch Ker Guzar.

Oye Kuch Ker Guzar translates into ‘take the plunge’ or ‘take charge’. A message we really need to give our youth. Everyone dreams, but very few are able to act upon those dreams. Therefore this movie is predominantly about the characters taking control and being the change they want to see. This message is also relayed through djuice social campaigns and TVCs time and again.

The usage of internet has trebled in the last decade. People now prefer staying home and being online rather than indulging in social activities. In fact socializing is mostly done online. High-speed internet particularly with the launch of mobile broadband (3G and 4G LTE), has brought about this shift. Young and old alike are being enabled to achieve so much more, sitting right at home.

From the trailer, we can surmise that the cast and the characters they play in the movie will be very interesting. Starring Ali Safina, Ushna Shah, Uzair Jaswal, Mehjabeen Habib & Nayyar Ejaz, Oye Kuch Ker Guzar is giving a very youthful and fun feel to the film. It appears to be a story that everyone especially the youth can relate to.
Since the movie is online, for the first time, the viewers have a chance to decide the turn the story will take. It is being shot in such a way that every episode has alternate endings. The audience can pick and choose how they want the characters’ lives to turn out. Using annotations and end screens viewers can steer the story in their chosen direction. As mentioned above the cast in the movie is pretty interesting. The much better singer from the Jaswal sibilings, Uzair Jaswal is in it. Also the story sees Ali Safina trying to become a musician.
