600 Students to Get Free Laptops in Punjab!

The Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) will be awarding laptops and other prizes to 600 students who have performed brilliantly from 400 technical colleges over Punjab.

The Chairman of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh mentioned that the board will award outstanding students with excellent percentages in exams as well as position holders of the Annual Examination of Punjab Board of Technical Education (PBTE).

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh further added,

“Students with the top three position in PBTE annual examinations will also be awarded with a special prize.”

The TETVA Chairman cited the reason for these awards were to further motivate students and create a sense of competition between them and to reward the students who have worked extremely hard. These students have managed to put Pakistan on the global map.

Awards Distribution as per Quota

The following quota will be followed for the distribution of awards from 400 TEVTA colleges in Punjab:

  1. 252 Students of Diploma in Associate Engineering DAE which is offered in 28 trades.
  2. 126 students of the two-year diploma
  3. 108 students from the one-year diploma
  4. 72 students from the two-year vocational diploma
  5. 36 students from the one-year vocational diploma

Samsung Galaxy S9+ Render Hints Infinity Display!

Samsung’s Galaxy S9+ is not far from its official launch, and since the days are approaching even faster, rumors have started to shower from all angles.

Recently, a rendered image of the phone has revealed a massive feature, the awaited for Infinity Display! Asides that, several reports have disclosed details about the color,  accessories, and has offered us a glimpse at the claimed specs of the device.

One thing which we notice at first look is the rear-panel which is something Samsung will do differently if they go with the idea.

The camera should have a vertical orientation, with a repositioned fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy S9+ is expected to sport a dual-lens camera as well, while the Galaxy S9 will sport a single-lens camera.

The image hints that the S9+ will be similar to its predecessor, the Galaxy S8, official announcements are still yet to be made from the manufacturing giant.

Indian Astrologer Predicts 5 Devastating Terror Attacks in Pakistan

Last month, an Indian man’s earthquake warning for Pakistan and other Asian states went viral on the internet, creating a wave of fear amongst people.

Now an Indian astrologer, Anirudh Kumar Mishra‏ has sent shock waves and has baffled Pakistani lawmakers by predicting back to back terrorist attacks in the nation.

In October, Kumar tweeted that a terrorist attack will hit Pakistan in November. And shockingly, the attack did happen.

On December 1, a band of terrorists cloaked in “burqas” attacked Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in Peshawar, killing 13 people and injuring over 30 others.

The astrologer later tweeted that the prediction was accurate, but he also acknowledged that he was off by one day.

Next, he made another mind-boggling prophecy by tweeting that as many as 5 terrorist attacks will ht Pakistan until February 2018.

These predictions have caused a furor and panic among Pakistani lawmakers who are now accusing Indian intelligence agencies of being involved in all the attacks.

Apparently, this astrologer also foretold a terror attack in U.S.A & it came true! 

And he was envisioned a much horrible disaster on the global front

London Mayor Sadiq Khan’s Visit to Pakistan [In Pictures]

After a Bollywood style welcome in India, the popular London mayor Sadiq Khan is all set to make a grand visit to Pakistan and the citizens are all set to shower him with love.

In order to promote, London is Open’ campaign, the mayor is on a six-day tour to India and Pakistan, aiming to strengthen ties between the nation and the British capital.

The iconic moment was when he entered Pakistan from India via the Wagah Border Crossing. He was received on the Pakistani side of the border by Mayor Lahore Col (retd) Mubashar and senior government officials.

For those who don’t know, he is the first British politician to make the journey from India to Pakistan via Wagah Border.

Manchester United PL – 2017/18 Report Card

Sad news for shawarma fans as the European Parliament is deciding to ban the phosphates necessary to keep the seasoned kebab meat moist and flavorful.

 

The shawarma that is more popularly known as ‘doner kebabs’ in Europe is under threat and could be banned across the continent.

The EU lawmakers are citing health concerns based on studies that linked phosphates to cardiovascular disease. The change in the EU rules has infuriated takeaways and fast-food enthusiasts.

Fueling the brouhaha is that sausages containing phosphates are allowed to be sold in EU countries while shawarma meat is under trouble. Some vendors have called it a discrimination to deliberately target the doner-kebab businesses.

Renate Sommer, a member of German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s conservative party in the European Parliament, took to Facebook to share his views on the issue.

“a ban of the phosphate addition would be the end of shawarma production and would lead to the loss of thousands of jobs.”

The fate of the doner lies in the full EU parliament that is set to vote on the issue after two weeks in Strasbourg.

Dubai Witnesses Massive Decline in Rents

The rise in property prices has been an ongoing issue over the years. The increasing costs have made it extremely difficult for people to afford rent for places in major cities such as Dubai, New York, and London amongst many others.

However, surprisingly according to reports, Dubai’s premium residential neighborhoods have been losing their rental value as per the latest data compiled by a real estate consultancy firm.

For those Pakistanis who have been wanting to move to Dubai, this is your chance as rents in Dubai have never been cheaper before!

It has been discovered that rents in Dubai Marina where one bedroom flats cost up to Dh 95,000 (PKR 279,000) per annum have now shown a steep decline in leasing rates registering at a whopping 19% drop. The figure has been recorded in September 2017 by Asteco.

The third quarter of 2017 has seen rates fall by 12% of renting a flat in Dubai as compared to last year. The demand for properties seems to have fallen as a huge supply is available. New high-rise towers have been popping up everywhere in Downtown Burj Khalifa where landlords have lowered their rates compared to other locations. The overall rent in the area has been recorded having a decline of 18%.

Renault is Moving towards Electric Vehicles with Kwid!

Renault is one of the most well-known automotive manufacturers around the world. Now, the French brand is shifting towards saying goodbye to fuel powered and hello to electric powered vehicles.

Renault is to launch their iconic Kwid vehicle in an electric variant in the Chinese auto market as an experiment. The all-new Kwid Electric hatchback will be a zero-emission car.

Another reason for Renault’s experiment in China is because of the country’s friendly laws for electric vehicles and is also one of the leading vocals for the production of electric vehicles.

Pak Suzuki just launched the 2018 Suzuki Cultus in Pakistan, and along with the new variant, the manufacturer also launched 2 new bikes, the GSX-R600 and GR-150.

The GSX-R600 is a high-end bike specially made for people who love the fast sporty running bike. On the other hand, the GR-150 is equipped with a 150cc engine to enhance the company’s presence within the country.

BBC Being Accused of Racism: Here’s Why!

The demise of veteran Bollywood actor Shashi Kapoor has left the world of Bollywood lovers in mourning. The actor passed away last night at the age of 79 after a prolonged illness.

Wrapped around his death started a controversy due to British news channel, BBC which wrongly reported Shashi Kapoor’s demise in their news story. BBC has now been accused of ‘racism’ by various media outlets and by people over social media due to it not being able to differentiate between two ‘brown’ actors.

Mail Online and the New Zealand Herald were among the many outlets that mentioned BBC being accused of racism!

While some believed it was highly unprofessional, others called it offensive and racist on BBC’s part.

 

Amitabh Bachan and Rishi Kapoor were shown instead of the veteran actor in the story, this caused quite an uproar amongst fans. The clip from the famous movie, ‘Kabhie Kabhie’ was played on BBC news a 10, surprisingly leaving out Shashi Kapoor from the story!

Bitcoin Rises to $12,000 mark!

2017 witnessed a stunning rise of cryptocurrency! After its dramatic dip the previous week, Bitcoin continues to soar high and has rebounded from its slump to break yet another record.

As per the latest report, the price of Bitcoin has skyrocketed past $12,000 and moved its year-to-date (YTD) gain to more than 1,100%.

Over the past year, the largest cryptocurrency by market value took almost four months to reach $1,000 to a closing mark of $2,000.

It later skyrocketed from $9,000 to $10,000 in just a duration of three days, recording a tenfold jump in value this year.

However, Bitcoin’s sharp decline last week signified that a rapidly swelling phenomenon could explode in spectacular fashion.

Now debates are raging as to whether it is the biggest bubble the history ever witnessed or simply “digital gold” assuming its rightful valuation.

Hedge fund manager, Mike Novogratz told Bloomberg:

“This is a bubble and there is a lot of froth. This is going to be the biggest bubble of our lifetimes”

A type of cryptocurrency, Bitcoin works via the encryption technique but does not have a legal support from the central bank. It is not recognized in Pakistan either and is labeled as illegal by the State Bank of Pakistan.

SBP Takes Notice of ATM Hacking, Assures Victims of Compensation

After a wave of ATM hacking, in which more than 570 individuals were robbed of a large sum of money.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has taken notice of this act and is in talks with the Habib Bank Limited management.

Till now 296 users have confirmed that there have been transactions from their accounts by hackers. The bank has faced almost Rs 10.2 million loss for their customers.

The accounts of bank users who used HBL ATMs but had accounts in different banks were also compromised. HBL has already started its process to compensate the victims of their full amount.

Chief Marketing Officer-HBL Naved Asghar said that the affected customers would be compensated. He also added that all ATMs will be checked for bugs and will be re-checked to ensure they are safe to be used. He further added that there is nothing to be worried about and everything is being sorted out.

According to RS Snipers, SPB has issued guidelines to ensure such fraudulent transactions can be avoided in future. Banks will have to create and implement comprehensive regulations for security of cards, analyze risk factor and implement methods to control it.

Supreme Court Orders the Word ‘Non-Muslim’ to be Used for Minorities

On Tuesday, 5th December, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has said that the term ‘non-Muslim’ should be used when addressing religious minorities living in Pakistan.

The 3-judge bench was head of Justice Ejaz Afzal. The suo motu was heard in regards to the rights of minorities in the court.

Former chief justice Tassaduq Jillani took the suo motu under notice after the Peshawar church blast incident.

Justice Dost Muhammad said: “Now the majority has also become a minority because of a minority (group), whenever it wants, holds them hostage. The judge said the word non-Muslim should be used for religious minorities as per the Constitution.

Justice Afzal added that minorities should be aware of their rights and should be protected like special children.

Ex-CJP Jillani ordered the formation of a special police force trained with special and professional training to protect the worship places of the minorities.

The Balochistan advocate general informed the court they had taken all measures to protect the minorities’ rights.

The court disposed of the case after hearing the arguments.

Pak Suzuki Launched the New Cultus 2018

Yesterday, Pak Suzuki launched the automatic variant of its new Suzuki Cultus. Azam Mirza, the Executive Officer Marketing and After Sales Pak Suzuki, told the media that the company decided to bring the auto version of the Cultus after listening to the feedback from customers and dealers.

Previously, Suzuki launched the Mega-Carry, a heavy duty vehicle for workers.

Asides the Cultus, Suzuki also launched 2 new bikes as well. The brand looks like it is planning to expand and diversify its presence within the country.

The bikes are the Suzuki GSX-R600 and the Suzuki GR150.

The 2018 Suzuki Cultus is equipped with K series K10B 12-value 3-cylinder 1.0L 1000cc engine with 5-speed manual transmission, front-wheel drive, and a sportier look.

The VXL variant comes with airbags, power windows, fog lights, and anti-lock braking systems. On the other hand, the VXR variant comes with optional upgrades.

As Pak Suzuki itself mentioned in the presentation, the AGS is basically an “automated manual transmission” system. Instead of developing a fully automated transmission, Suzuki has devised a clever way to make their current manual transmission into an automatic transmission.
